When it comes to sleepwear, I am so picky, it’s almost embarrassing. However, I am all about comfort & coverage, no matter the season. As I started to recognize how overworn much of my pajama bottoms & loungewear clothing were getting during the pandemic—I was working full-time from home for 15 months. I decided to make the investment in go-to bottoms, especially for the warmer nights when I still prefer my legs be covered up.
The always reliable & affordable Target brand, Stars Above, proved the right choice with the Beautifully Soft Cropped Pajama Pant & now, most of the selection is on clearance. I bought 2 black pair & 1 navy pair. Not only are they comfortable to sleep in & easy to care for, they also double as acceptable loungewear bottoms if you have to run out for an errand or two or are spending the weekend home doing light chores or enjoying family time.

However, birthday girl, Diane Kruger, is an exception. One-in-every-color is at it again! This time, I’m obsessed–to my surprise–with the Time and Tru peplum hem t-shirt @Walmart for $12.98. I had ordered only the berry fun (pink) & black soot colors on a whim, but I’ve just added the other colors to my cart, although dark navy is not available in my size!
I was scrambling to get ready for my last day of work before a long-awaited vacation & knew that I had my favorite past-season black ankle pants & a stack of casual, weekend tops at the ready without the forethought from the previous night to pick out my outfit. Suddenly, with Barbiecore on the brain, I grabbed the pink version of this top, a long necklace, & patterned flats; along with my ankle pants, I was all set. It’s not very often that I use Time and Tru pieces for work, especially when my comfortable, weekend wardrobe is way more toned down. I was happily surprised with the final look & excited to share it with readers since the 6 colors are made in sizes XS-XXXL, although availability may be limited due to the end of the summer season rush in stores.
The modal/polyester/spandex material of this top is lightweight & the perfect blend of summer business casual Friday; however, this top must be ironed or steamed. Luckily, I had my hand steamer nearby when I was rushing to put myself together & the top came out as polished as I expected.

Details matter, especially on footwear. I love to contrast my flowery, feminine outfit with some metallic flare on my heels or play with a dark dramatic look against an unexpected pattern on my flats. If you like a billowy silhouette, you can ditch the belt or go for something more natural in a straw or basketweave, or even add a floppy hat & go for gladiator sandals with this look.
As Marvel fans breathlessly await the world premiere of Thor: Love & Thunder, the film’s female stars, Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson, & Pom Klementieff, hit the blue carpet to promote the action movie in the UK, along with director Taika Waititi, his girlfriend, singer, Rita Ora, & athlete Serena Williams, all of whom killed it when it comes to top shelf style.
However, it’s Natalie’s red mini Dior dress & flower crown, along with Tessa’s golden fringe dress by Oscar de la Renta that were not only the talk of London, but also currently the internet! Additionally, Rita’s shimmery & dazzling Elie Saab gown was a showstopper, as well as Pom’s edgy, biker-inspired Alexander McQueen frock.

Even though summer is a season all about colors & patterns, a little black dress for a variety of occasions is a timeless wardrobe staple, including these more affordable options to help a Style Darling live your best French-girl fantasy, whether you’re headed to a cocktail party, wedding, weekend brunch, or somewhere fabulous & fashionable.
Additionally, an LBD doesn’t necessarily demand coordinating black shoes, especially as seen on Keira wearing beige & black Mary Janes, but this season, black sandals come in a variety of strappy & mule styles that elevate any ensemble. Here are some suggestions:
I’ve said it once & I’ll say it again… If there’s something that I love & it’s made in multiple colors, I’ll take it! This goes for cardigans, blouses, pants, ballet flats, & dresses too! So when I was searching Amazon for options to spruce up my summer maxi dresses, to wear to both work & for weekend or night occasions, I wanted something lightweight, classic, & effortless to pair with wedges or sandals, along with a cardigan or crossbody bag. When I happened upon this one-should midi dress from Zesica, I searched their Amazon store for more options, which included a Bohemian Spaghetti Strap Swiss Dot Sleeveless Smocked A Line Flowy Maxi Dress ($37.99) in 12 different colors: black, burgundy, dark orange, midnight blue, mint, navy, pink, plum, purple, rose, white, & green.
I’ve worn the midnight blue (which is more of a periwinkle) three times now: to a carnival fundraiser, a family dinner, & to work with a cardigan. The slit is only visible if you pose a certain way. Otherwise, I had no problem wearing it & liked the movement that the maxi offered. Additionally, I liked that the straps could be tied & bowed to fit my frame as I usually find that some straps are too loose, if they’re not adjustable, & then they tend to fall down. I bow for the straps is also a nice touch, adding to the Swiss dot, feminine feel. I paired this dress with metallic sandals, laser cut ballet flats, or flowered flip-flops, wearing a statement earring in a coordinating color. Also, I ended up ordering the plum color (which is more of a dusty rose) & have the mint & purple on my mind since I do love a bright hue, especially when there’s a $2 off promotional coupon applied to the purchase, but I may invest in those colors with other dresses that I have saved at the moment.
The only downside to the dress above is that Zesica only sells it in sizes S-XL. When thinking about holiday weekends & dressing in a theme, I try to find items that I already have & normally wear , so as to avoid a single specific holiday-only piece that I only break out once a year. This time, she’s promoting her new lipstick & lip liner launch for her cosmetics brand, Rare Beauty, Kind Words in effortless, mature, & elegant style.
