Even if you’re not a fan of the Kardashian-Jenner empire, you can’t deny the impact that the 5 sisters (Kourtney, Kim, Khloe, Kendall, & Kylie) have had on social media, fashion, beauty, & pop culture. Most recently, Kim Kardashian is the star of Allure‘s August 2022 cover, where she speaks with writer Danielle Pergament, getting real about her career & family goals, the public’s perception of her, beauty standards, & her commitment to her beauty regimen with her recently launched nine-step skincare line SKKN by Kim. Along with the article, the images are photographed by Danielle Levitt, featuring Kim decked out in long blonde hair & styled by Kyle Luu with pieces from Skims, Alaia, Bulgari, Paris Texas, Schiaparelli Haute Couture, & Jimmy Choo.
Kim states, “There are so many different beauty standards — whether it’s Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lopez, Marilyn Monroe. When I was a teenager, [the look] was just blonde waifs…My mentality was…always: Be yourself, find beauty in everything.”
On the media’s perception of her success & intelligence, Kim shares, “I think I’ve always just been the underdog…Being on a reality show and that’s not respected…Feeling like I need to work harder to show you guys that I’m not the person you think.” The aspiring lawyer also adds, “It would be amazing to retire being Kim K and just be a lawyer. But if it all went away, I would be just as happy…“I would want people to walk away and be like, ‘She was a good person, and she did some good things.’”

Selena Gomez is at it again! No, she’s not solving murders, like her character, Mable Mora, does on Only Murders in the Building. No, she’s not cooking up a feast for her friends & family, like she does on the hit HBOMax show Selena + Chef. No, she’s not singing her heart out, like she did on her most recent album, Revelacion. This time, she’s promoting her new lipstick & lip liner launch for her cosmetics brand, Rare Beauty, Kind Words in effortless, mature, & elegant style.
The mogul & entertainer stepped out in a Santa Monica Sephora wearing a blazer mini dress with lace detailing by Alexander McQueen (shop similar here) from the Fall/Winter 2022 collection, finished with Jimmy Choo Minny sandals in black (shop here), maintaining a polished, professional, & posh style for yet another blogworthy appearance, as seen below.
In an email interview with Harper’s Bazaar last month, Selena revealed the process behind developing the Kind Words matter lip colors, along with her favorites, stating: “I wanted to create a classic lipstick that’s truly comfortable. Every shade is easy and wearable, and just perfect for every day…This is everything I’ve ever wanted in a lip liner. Super smooth and doesn’t tug on your lips and made to last all day without feeling sticky.”
In the same Harper’s Bazaar piece, Selena adds, “I’ve been testing and wearing these products for the past year with my friends and makeup artists. Fun is a beautiful neutral mauve, and Lively is more of a rose-pink shade, and they complement each other well. If I want a bold lip look, my go-to is Gifted, which is a deep dusty plum. Jessica Alba has always been one of my favorite celebrities to watch out for on the red carpet because several elements of her personal style mirror my own. She loves feminine, classic pieces, never straying too far into an architectural or modern aesthetic, but still appearing current & trendy. While the actress / entrepreneur has been promoting her new series L.A.’s Finest (also starring the always exquisite Gabrielle Union), as well as her brand The Honest Company, Jessica has been all about platforms. I couldn’t help but notice the chunky shoe under many of her dresses during her promotional tour, a choice that I would not personally make, but something I love to look at with her red carpet fashion, which has a very 70s & 90s glam vibe right now.

Jennifer Lopez can’t do just one thing & I’m so glad for it. For her newest film, Second Act, she not only stars in & produced it, but also sings the power anthem “Limitless” (penned by Sia). She also directed the yet-to-be released music video (also starring her daughter Emme) & has taken the fashion world by storm once again at the New York City premiere of the film. She wore a breathtaking pink Giambattista Valli high low tulle gown (from the brand’s Fall 2018 Couture runway collection) with a train that rivals anyone else in gown train history (Priyanka Chopra… Princess Diana…) styled with silver accessories including a Judith Leiber clutch & Jimmy Choo platforms, as well as jewelry by Lorraine Schwartz. The play on volume & length in such a bold statement color only makes the dress more amazing to gawk at.
The ethereal design floated down the Fall 2018 runway & has now made history. Perhaps all those sparkly naked dresses are out & voluminous tulle dresses are in?

When it comes to putting together the perfect holiday looks throughout the season, I’m always thinking about both style & comfort for wherever I’m headed. Additionally, as I’m shopping around for special extras as I plan which events I’m attending, my shoe choices sometimes inform how the rest of my look is going to come together. With that in mind, I’m budget-conscious, but also very inspired by the trendiest, luxury designs on the market since details like lace, glitz, texture, & color are so important in expressing my mood & personality. As I perused some of my favorite online resources, I saw several common themes for fall / winter shoes, which allowed me to seek out lower price points to fill my wardrobe & heart with more footwear joy!
As we approach the holidays, I’m pretty obsessed with a pointy toe flat because it resolves the issue I always had about wearing flats with a pencil skirt or sheath dress. I always felt like my legline was never justly enhanced by a sweet ballet flat, but when the pointy toe flat trend rolled around, I knew there was so much styling potential. ‘Tis the season for some sparkle! Therefore, finding the below sparkly flats immediately made me think about how they add and elegant pop of shine to an LBD, sweater dress with tights, or even dressing up a chunky sweater with leggings.
Perhaps the funnest recent trend to hit flats is the pom pom. It’s eye-catching & playful, which screams holiday-ready, especially in the always neutral black where you can style up a fit & flare dress, lace shorts & blouse, or tweed suit separates. Perhaps this trend might not work for your everyday shoe needs, but it’s a cheeky & fashion forward way to have a great time at a holiday party!

For the Women In Film 2015 Crystal + Lucy Awards red carpet, Kate in a little black fit & flare dress by Max Mara with leopard print sequin pointy toe pumps. As I get back into the blogging swing of things, my search continues for designer look-alikes, especially when it comes to classic pieces. However, at only 1/4′ less in height, the Merona peep toe pumps ($29.99) in red from Target are just as chic & won’t set any Style Darling back in cost.
When I’m lacking inspiration for a blog, you can either find me perusing the internet for absurdly adorable pictures of puppies, or checking out some seriously sexy shoes that I don’t think I’ll ever be able to afford. However, I was so inspired by Nicole Kidman’s new ad campaign for Jimmy Choo & began thinking about simple ways to update my spring-summer-fall shoe collection without breaking the bank. Also, I love the idea of studded sandals, especially since I’ve been seeing the trend all over the pages of my favorite fashion magazines this summer. Each style offers plenty of toe cleavage, as well as height to show off your legs in shorts romper, mini skirt, or sheath dress, especially when paired with softer details like lace, a floral print, or ruched bodice.
If you’re looking to achieve the same gladiator style with metallic studding, then I recommend heading over to Forever 21 for their leather-lined spike gladiator heels ($32.50) in both black & natural to fulfill all of your gritty & modern fashion needs. These are perfect for mixing up your office look for happy hour with the girls, heading out for a date in and LBD, or making a statement with the ever so trendy jumpsuit.
All this time here I was thinking that the best legs in Hollywood belonged to actress / mogul Jennifer Lopez or supermodel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, but the sultry side of Nicole Kidman is out in full force for her latest venture as the face.. err… legs… err feet of Jimmy Choo‘s Autumn / Winter 2013 collection. This is by far the best we’ve ever seen the Australian beauty & not only are there images to show her strut her stuff, but there’s also a short film video that’s gorgeous enough to make any Style Darling break the bank and buy a pair of the luxury footwear! I love the nearly $1,000 shoes, as well as Nicole’s shaggy red wig, which makes her look every bit the bombshell that we love her to be.
“I really enjoyed being able to play a role that was strong, sexy and in control,” she shares, according to People, adding “I got into a relationship with the photographer [Mikael Jansson], & Mikael is very intuitive, he knows what I am thinking & feeling & is able to translate it through the camera.” Inspiration for the shoot came from the photography of Helmut Newton, as well as the strong heroine icons of Alfred Hitchcock films- no doubt including Grace Kelly, who Nicole portrays in her upcoming film, Grace of Monaco.

Some of my favorite looks include Jennifer Lopez‘s sequin Tom Ford gown that she wore while attending the amfAR Inspiration Gala, Amy Adams in a lace Dolce & Gabbana dress with sorbet pointy toe shoes, & Uma Thurman‘s striking magenta Versace corseted gown with Chopard jewelry.
During a recent shopping venture, it occurred to me that my wardrobe lacks a peplum piece. This was surprising because of how flattering a peplum silhouette is for any & every shape. I’ve seen plenty of peplums on the red carpet, designed into gowns, styled with pencil skirts, paired with pants, & accented on cocktail frocks. This is seen on Glee actress Naya Riverain a Monique Lhuillier sleeveless top with a printed pencil skirt. Also, Star Trek’s Zoe Saldanacelebrated Prabal Gurung in a belted top & shorts look by the designer. Oscar nominee Amy Adamsis feminine in a polka dot Jenny Packham design with Jimmy Choo stilettos.
Style muse Olivia Palermomatches a tweed Rebecca Taylor top with skinny jeans & silver pumps. Indian beauty Freida Pintotook in Burberry Prorsum‘s recent runway show in a jewel tone ensemble. When you’re planning to invest in a trendy piece, it’s always important to consider how often you’ll wear it to get the most for your money. This is especially true in the case of the Trina Turkpeplum top ($228.00) from Nordstrom, which is also available in pink & white to lighten up your tougher looks as we transition from winter to spring. For a more relaxed look, you can head over to ShopBop for the Only Hearts ladder back peplum camisole ($110.00) to wear with skinny jeans, liquid leggings, or a satin mini skirt. Banana Republic‘s ponte knit peplum top ($49.50) offers a chic alternative to stuffy work looks with suit separates or printed trousers.
At a lower price point, the Romeo & Juliet Couture high-low peplum blouse ($34.30) from Last Call by Neiman Marcus has been recently marked down from its original $130.00 price tag. For my curvier Style Darlings, the Mossimo sleeveless peplum top ($22.99) is available @Target in sizes XS – XXL. Also, it’s sold in white stripes & orange stripes so that you can play with prints & mix it with a pair of floral cropped pants or a polka dot skirt. Lastly, the most affordable is the zip back peplum tank ($17.94) from Express, however sizes are limited & will probably run out due to the store’s current 40% off sale.
Fashion critics & bloggers have been on the look out for Kim Kardashian‘s pregnancy style, which has included lots of pencil skirts, body conscious dresses, & empire-waisted looks to show off her growing shape & glow. Kim is never one to turn away from a high heel, & during a recent appearance in New York City, she donned the Anouck metallic leather pumps ($650.00) by Jimmy Choo from Saks Fifth Avenue. Not every expectant mom-to-be would be so bold as to keep up their pre-baby bump style with such confidence & sophistication.
Of course, that’s a heft price to pay for silver pumps, but the neutral metallic trend is coming back for spring, especially when paired with bright neons, soft pastels, & edgy embellished pieces. I recently shared a pic on Instagram featuring a shoe find in the latest issue of Harper’s Bazaarof a killer pair of silver pointy toe heels, but I also found several options at lower price points for any budget.
There’s still a chill in the air here in New York, but it’s finally starting to look like spring. There’s change in the air & I know I’m really excited about it- & not just for my change in wardrobe. However, speaking of spring fashions, the go-to print of the season is florals & I couldn’t turn my back the trend, especially when I’ve been seeing it everywhere! For example, A-list celebs have been wearing florals even during the winter, ushering in the warmer season. Miranda Kerris all smiles in a floral skirt with a leather Prada tote while taking in the day in Sydney. Elizabeth Olsenmixed her floral top with a mustard coat & skinny jeans. Actress Diane Krugerattended a press event for Farewell, My Queen in a 10 Crosby Derek Lam ensemble.
Not to mention that there have been plenty of florals hitting the runways this year, including luxe vintage from Valentino, 80s-inspired rocker chic designs from Betsey Johnson, youthful & bright patterns from Tracy Reese, Lanvin‘s elegant & sophistication, & Erdem‘s playful & refreshing angle on flowers.
Whether it’s on clothing, accessories, or mixed & match (which I only recommend doing with caution), I made a few selections from some of my favorite stores to share how you can wear the latest floral pieces on a budget! The best piece to start building the perfect spring wardrobe is a dress, like the Merona sleeveless tulip wrap dress ($19.00) from Target, which has recently been marked down from its original $24.99 price. The flattering wrap shape is perfect for accentuating your shape & the navy background adds a regal touch is paired with basketweave espadrilles or bright ballet flats. Next is the LC Lauren Conrad floral ruffle tank ($25.20) from Kohl’s, which is a feminine topper piece to wear with dark denim jeans, white skinny pants, or a denim skirt.
Don’t be afraid of florals on your bottom half, especially with the 4 1/2″ belted printed flat front shorts ($32.94) from Express, which add some tropical flair to your look & will dress down a lace blouse. I love the idea of sequins with florals & this skirt ($34.95) from H&M is a stylish marriage of both. This will pair nicely with a chambray button down shirt for a fashionable day out & about or with a solid pullover & pointy toe pumps for a date. Lastly, floral pants are also one of the biggest trends this season, especially in a looser cut to provide plenty of flow & movement, which is why I choose the Full Tilt skinny harem pants ($24.99) from Tilly’s. The chic black, gray, & white color combination is understated & can be coordinated with pastel pieces like coral or mint.
As for accessories, these bright colors will make your outfit pop, especially since they’re so effortless to match with wardrobe essentials. For example, the sequin tulip print pumps ($27.80) from Forever 21 are flirty & will add extra dimension to cuffed jeans & a ruffled top. Also, for a more subtle floral shoe, the novelty ballet flats ($39.95) from Gap. The soft pink & red tones in the shoe can offset any striped tee & jeans look in a ladylike way.

During my recent ventures out & about, discovering the trends for spring, I was surprised to see that menswear-inspired loafers had made a comeback, but with Style Darlings like Alexa Chung, Sienna Miller, & Kirsten Dunst spotted in them, I knew this trend wasn’t going away. I’ve yet to add some loafers to my shoe collection, but details like studding over a suede surface seem to be the most popular. I’m certainly not endorsing the disappearance of ballet flats, but I love the idea of mixing such a masculine shape to feminine pieces, like a silk blouse & lace shorts or to dress down an LBD with a blazer & colorful tights. Loafers seem to be the best way to transition your wardrobe from winter to spring & I’m sure when we’re headed from summer to fall, the same will apply. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to review an advanced screening of Oz the Great and Powerful, which stars James Francoas Oz, a magician from Kansas who becomes a wizard. Also in the film are beauties Michelle Williams, Mila Kunis, & Rachel Weiszas three battling witches: Glinda, Theodora, & Evanora, respectively. Tomorrow is the big day for Beyoncé & that could only mean that after her rumored lip synching faux pas during the 2013 Presidential Inauguration, she’s going to kill it at the Super Bowl. She’s already been making appearance to promote the performance & I’ve featured her sexy leather mini dress look with Jimmy Choo pumps, as well as her orange sheath dress by Antonio Berardo.
