All About Platforms with Jessica Alba!

Jessica Alba has always been one of my favorite celebrities to watch out for on the red carpet because several elements of her personal style mirror my own. She loves feminine, classic pieces, never straying too far into an architectural or modern aesthetic, but still appearing current & trendy. While the actress / entrepreneur has been promoting her new series L.A.’s Finest (also starring the always exquisite Gabrielle Union), as well as her brand The Honest Company, Jessica has been all about platforms. I couldn’t help but notice the chunky shoe under many of her dresses during her promotional tour, a choice that I would not personally make, but something I love to look at with her red carpet fashion, which has a very 70s & 90s glam vibe right now.

Below Jessica goes peachy in a Giambattista Valli Spring 2019 dress with beige patent leather platforms & an Alaia cropped shirt with a striped skirt in Jimmy Choo platforms.

Also, at the Monte Carlo TV Festival, Jessica wore an orange Silvia Tcherassi belted dress with a Mulberry bag & satin platforms. For her Honest Beauty Meet & Greet, Jessica looks heavenly in a Self Portrait midi dress with rust suede Salvatore Ferragamo platforms. Show Me the Shoes: Black & White Heels for Spring!

Spring is all about color! Pastels & bright hues are emerging from the darkness that is winter with lighter layers & softer palettes across the board. However, one of the edgiest ways to mix up your spring wardrobe is to pair a pattern or monochromatic outfit with a bold black & white heel. Since spring offers so many clean prints & floaty fabrics, a more modern shoe alternative in black & white will set you apart, changing the way you build a look. Combine stripes with floral or polka dots with animal prints to rediscover a new spring style.

Color Me Style: Yellow (Dedicated To Estelle)!

On a rather semi-uneventful night of style (although I did break in my new silver flats from Wet Seal!), I suddenly found myself pursued by my good friend & fellow shoe lover, Estelle, who was in a style crisis- shudder to think.  She’s getting married in less than six months & has her heart set on yellow shoes for the big day.  As much as I love dresses & the thought of going shopping for my own wedding dress one day, deep down, it’ll always be about the shoes.  I had to help out & happily began my mission.  I turned to my emergency “favorites” folder, reserved for Style Darlings in need (which I’ve since expanded & updated here for all your crazy online shoppers!).  Not to mention that this challenge was a little extra hard since yellow isn’t necessarily a fall color & it is October.

I should mention that in my Color Me Style posts, I featurd all fashionable items from jewelry to tops to skirts, & so on, along with celebrity looks in the specific color.  However, this is a special case, so I’m breaking up my blog routine.  Estelle is looking for something open so that her feet could breathe on her very busy day, so strappy sandals & peep toes were essential.  Knowing Estelle, bows were not to be ruled out!  With a collection of varying styles, colors, & heel heights, here’s what we came up with during a lengthy & satisfying Facebook exchange.

Overall there were some winners & hopefully, of these picks, the beautiful bride-to-be will have found the pair for her. For general knowledge, here are the websites featured in this blog: Nina Shoes, 6pm, Baker’s Shoes, EDressMe, Love My Shoes, Shoe Buy, Shoe Mall, Shoe Woo, YOOX, GOjane. During my extensive exchange with Estelle, sites like DSW, Zappos, Piperlime, Endless, Steve Madden, Chinese Laundry, Foot Notes Online, Bluefly, Couture Candy, AMI Clubwear, Macys, Jildor, Nine West, Jessica Simpson Collection, & Victoria’s Secret were also perused.  I recommend all of the above sites for you next shoe adventure even though they didn’t provide for tonight’s goal.  If you know of any great websites to check out yellow peep toe heels for a special occasion, leave a comment to let us know!  The search is still in progress, so please please please share!  Happy Styling!
