SHOP NOW!: Linen Pants for Under $20!

One of the chicest ways to stay both cool & stylish as the temperatures rise is by wearing linen. I’ve always been weary about linen, due to caring for the wrinkles & washing to ensure that it doesn’t shrink, but in recent years, I’ve been a fan of linen shorts with tanks & tees of all varieties. However, I’m in love with these linen pants, which can be dressed up or down & still keep you cool.

SHOP: Time & Tru linen pull-on pants in 2 styles @Walmart ($19.98, available in sizes XS-3XL).

These are true to size. I wish they were available in more color varieties, including black & brighter hues to pair with my favorite spring-summer tops. How would you style these pants? Which color do you like best? How often do you wear linen? For more stylish posts, check out: Quinta Brunson on InStyle’s May cover, Beyoncé’s Renaissance tour outfits, & flattering midi dresses! Happy Styling!

Show Me the Shoes: Sparkle Slides!

Since slides are the big shoe trend with the warmer spring weather heading into summer, there are so many styles & varieties hitting shelves & online retailers’ social media. Selecting a slide with sparkle is always a grand idea to elevate a sundress for a special occasion or to pair with a maxi dress, blouse & ankle pants, or shorts romper.

SHOP: Iliana slide sandals in silver & gold @Target ($29.99, available in sizes 6-11).

I love both pairs & I’m waiting for Target put these on sale before deciding which one to get, but they’re perfect for a family gathering, tapas nights with the girls, or when heading from the beach to the bookstore.

How would you style these shoes? Which metallic do you like best? How often do you wear slides? For more stylish posts, check out: a fashion flashback with Penelope Cruz, eyelet tops by Time & Tru, & stylish summer pajama sets for under $13. Happy Styling!

SHOP NOW!: Old Navy’s Spring/Summer Printed Tees!

Now is the time of year to stock up on fresh, new printed t-shirts to layer under a button-down shirt, with a pleated midi skirt, for jeans on a casual Friday, to pair with jeggings & a denim jacket, or just for hanging out on the weekends. There are so many fun ways to wear a t-shirt, so why stop at just one style?

SHOP: EveryWhere printed slub knit t-shirt in 11 prints @Old Navy (on sale: $8.00-$10.00, available in sizes XS-4X).

Which pattern is your favorite? How often do you wear printed t-shirts? Where are you shopping for spring/summer staples? For more stylish posts, check out: effortless casual dresses, crepe pants in sizes XS-4XL, & gauze sleepwear for beach or lounge! Happy Styling!

SHOP NOW!: Pull-On Crepe Pants in Sizes XS-4XL!

We’re in an era of comfort where pull-on pants are plentifully available & the season’s most popular color for a pull-on pant, aside from the staple black, is pink! I’m wary of wide leg pants; however, the slit trend is also major right now. Whether I’m putting together a work look or ensemble for a girls’ night, comfort is key!

SHOP: A New Day high-rise tapered ankle crepe pants in pink & black @Target ($25.00, available in sizes XS-4XL).

I gave both pair & can’t wait to style them up with embellished flats, braided slides, or pointy toe pumps. I love both colors & wish that more were offered, including green, navy, or gray. How would you style these inclusive pants? How often do you wear magenta bottoms? Where are you shopping for inclusive finds? For more stylish posts, check out: gauze loungewear from Walmart, a fashion flashback with Miranda Kerr & Jennifer Garner, & linen dresses by A New Day! Happy Styling!

SHOP NOW!: Spring’s Prettiest Ruffle Top for Under $15!

When it comes to style in the warmer months, while trendy pieces & bold accessories are essential for exploring your sensibilities, comfort is also key! It’s time to break out the linen, cotton, & chambray, along with any denim cut-offs, to pair with the season’s newest must-haves!

SHOP: Time & Tru pinstripe ruffle top in navy, papaya, green, & pink @Walmart ($14.98, available in sizes XS-XXXL).

I love how pretty & classic this top is, juxtaposing the soft ruffles & peplum-inspired silhouette with seersucker stripes, which will pair perfectly with white jeans, linen shorts, dark wash denim capris, or gauzy wide leg pants!

How would you style this top? Which color do you like best? Would you buy this? For more stylish posts, check out: a classic crossbody bag on clearance, Allison Williams’ best red carpet moments, & floral sandals for the bold! Happy Styling!

Show Me the Shoes: The Ultimate Summer Sandal!

Even though it’s not quite time to break out the maxi dresses & plan for some outdoor fun just yet here on Long Island, it seems that retailers are already ahead of the shoe game with major summer sandals. I love these, even though I may be hesitant to rock them myself!

SHOP: t-strap floral detail sandal in orange & pink @New York & Company (on sale: $22.47, available in sizes 6-11).

What a flirty & festive way to kick off a tropical vacation, a girls’ weekend to a winery, or a beachside date night! How would you style these flats? Which color do you prefer? Where would you wear these? For more stylish posts, check out: heart pajamas on sale @LOFT, Ardene’s floral ballet flats for $10, soft separates by Joyspun, & twist-front tees! Happy Styling!

Accessories Access: Spring’s Most Versatile Crossbody Bag!

When it comes to running out & about, whether for fun or errands, a crossbody is my go-to. I’ve fallen into the habit of changing out my massive weekday tote to a smaller crossbody for weekends, especially when needing to be mobile with my little one. This newest crossbody is not only versatile for its removable strap, but also stylish for any spring occasion, including a family party, date night, or al fresco brunch with girlfriends.

SHOP: A New Day straw chain shoulder handbag in natural, green, & pink @Target (on sale: $28.00).

I love the contrast of the tortoise chain, especially in the green & pink options, but when simplifying the look, I love the thinner strap. How would you style this bag? Which color do you prefer? How would you wear this bag? For more stylish posts, check out: gold hoop earrings for under $7, Lily James’ best beauty & hair red carpet moments, & chambray peplum tops for spring! Happy Styling!

SHOP NOW!: Chambray + Peplum = Style!

I will always love a peplum top, along with a light & breathable chambray material. The flattering shape in a classic & neutral fabric makes for a stylish & winning combination with tropical linen shorts, red jeans, plaid capris, or patterned leggings!

SHOP: Time & Tru chambray peplum tank in black & tie dye @Walmart ($15.98, available in sizes XS-XXXS).

While I’m not always a big fan of hanging ties on tops, the ease of this calls more for a fun, threaded earring than any kind of neckwear, especially come those hot summer days. I gave the black & can’t wait to style it up for a casual day in the office or when planning my family’s next road trip!

How would you style this top? Which wash do you prefer? How do you feel about hanging ties? For more stylish posts, check out: windowpane capris, chunky chain flats, & puff-sleeve tops from LOFT! Happy Styling!

SHOP NOW!: Windowpane Capris are a Must-Have!

I’ve really been obsessed with plaids lately, probably because I don’t wear them as much once spring comes around. I do love a mix of plaids with florals or abstract prints when coordinating color schemes. A classic windowpane print, especially in navy, not only presents opportunity for print mixing, but also to play up other fun colors in your wardrobe.

SHOP: Time & Tru pull on capri pants in navy windowpane @Walmart ($18.98, available in sizes 4-20).

These fit so nicely & I can’t wait to wear them with a polka dot top & cardigan outfit, as well as with bright colors, like fuchsia, chartreuse, orange, & lavender. Navy is such a major neutral, & the wearing it in these capris will make for a special look for the work day or weekend.

How would you style these capris? How often do you wear navy bottoms? Are capris in regular rotation for you during warmer weather months? For more stylish posts, check out: chunky chain flats from Ardene, lace sleeve pullovers for under $10, & the ultimate linen dress by A New Day! Happy Styling!

SHOP NOW!: The Ultimate Linen Dress for EVERYONE!

Now that spring has sprung & 2 local trips are planned between now & early June, it’s time I start looking ahead to summer—in style! While linen does wrinkle & require care when washing, it is a breathable, comfortable, & classic material for a dress. Even better, a flattering & inclusive dress that can be styled up or worn casually.

SHOP: Universal Thread sleeveless linen dress in blue, black, pink multimate, green, blue multi, & white @Target ($30.00, available in sizes XS-4X).

My favorite is the green, but I did recently get the green eyelet dress I posted about back in February, so I think the blue (navy) will be a formidable option. I do wish there was a thicker strap, but the puckering across the waist is so flattering.

How would you style this dress? Which color would you pick? How often do you wear sundresses? For more stylish posts, check out: bargain bracelets from Macy’s, LOFT’s puff sleeve tops, & the most comfortable denim joggers by Sofia Vergara! Happy Styling!

SHOP NOW!: The Flutter-Sleeve Tee You’ll Live in All Spring Long!

I love how t-shirts have evolved over the years, blending the ease & comfort of a casual piece with more refined & special details that can be dressed up, such as a flutter-sleeve. While I’m not typically drawn to a dramatic sleeve, a subtle flutter adds an extra bit of whimsy, especially when paired with jeans & sneakers, trousers & ballet flats, a midi skirt & slides, or a pencil skirt & statement necklace.

SHOP: flutter-sleeve paneled t-shirt in black, beige, pink, & white @Old Navy ($29.99, available in sizes XS-4X + petite). Watch out for the current 30% off at checkout deal, or other sales that may help this topper, & the multiple colors, make its way into your wardrobe.

How would you style this top? Which color do you like best? How often do you wear a flutter or dramatic sleeve? For more stylish posts, check out: a silver crossbody bag by A New Day, polished sundresses from Free Assembly at Walmart, & spring-ready statement jewelry! Happy Styling!

Accessories Access: New Flower Bling!

With last weekend’s dazzling Academy Awards, I’ve got my mind on big baubles for spring, including flower & butterfly-encrusted jewels to layer with solid pieces, a graphic print ensemble, or other florals. If your jewelry collection is in need of a refresh, check out these must-haves:

SHOP: SUGARFIX by BaubleBar Gold & Pearl Butterfly Necklace @Target ($16.99).

SHOP: SUGARFIX by BaubleBar Crystal Flower Drop Earrings in white & gold @Target ($12.99).

SHOP: SUGARFIX by BaubleBar Gold & Crystal Butterfly Statement Earrings @Target ($12.99).

SHOP: SUGARFIX by BaubleBar Pearl & Gold Flower Drop Earrings @Target ($12.99).

Which piece is your favorite? How often do you wear statement jewelry? Do you prefer gold or silver fashion jewelry? For more stylish posts, check out: all the jewels from the Oscars, the red carpet glamour from the Oscars after parties, & flower sandals from New York & Company! Happy Styling!

SHOP NOW!: Stylish Spring Break-Ready Linen Separates!

I can’t believe I’m posting about shorts when it’s still so chilly here on Long Island, but spring break is in reach & I’m daydreaming about warmer days. However, a matching linen set is a stylish, fresh staple for any wardrobe, especially as sets are so on trend right now! Not to mention, I love mixing up colors & patterns for an array of possibilities.

SHOP: Universal Thread long sleeve relaxed fit collar button-down shirt in 7 colors ($25.00, available in sizes XS-4X) & Universal Thread mid-rise linen pull-on shorts in 8 colors ($20.00, available in sizes XS-4X).

I’m drawn to the green striped set, but thinking I’d get more use for switching up pieces with the navy stripes. Also, I’m waiting for a fabulous sale, which Target often has, to snatch up at least one set for my next vacation. Plus, the pink & olive sets are all over Instagram, so I’m not the only one on board with these looks!

Which set is your favorite? Do you wear linen pieces for warm weather days? How often do you wear matching sets? For more stylish posts, check out: luxury look-like rhinestone mules, velvet shells for 60% off, & fun Valentine’s Day pieces! Happy Styling!

SHOP NOW!: Time & Tru Eyelet Dress + Earring Combinations!

As spring is just around the corner–hopefully–spring is definitely hitting stores & I can’t wait for lighter layers, bright hues, & dangly earrings, which is pretty much my warm weather wardrobe! The must-have staple for spring is an eyelet dress, which can be dressed up down, depending on where you’re headed. One classic cut dress with a flattering scallop detail at the sleeves & hem can be found by Time & Tru at Walmart:

SHOP: Time & Tru short sleeve eyelet dress in black soot, emerald bliss, vivid white, & lunar yellow @Walmart ($23.98, available in sizes XS-XXXL).

Aren’t these colors gorgeous?! Of course, I do wish for a magenta or bright purple too, but I’m pleased that this selection is offered in such a wide range of sizes as it is flattering, feminine, & stylish for every body type. I’d love to add a belt, denim jacket, & wedges before heading out the door for a sunny day in the village, joining the family for some festivities, or to work with a cardigan!

Also, with great dresses comes great accessories from Time & Tru:

SHOP: Time & Tru silver leaf filigree earrings, mixed metal hammered teardrop earrings, textured leaf drop earrings, & gold leaf drop earring @Walmart ($3.88 each).

Here’s how I would pair them up! What do you think?

Which dress color if your favorite? How would you style the dress? Do you often wear drop earrings? For more stylish posts, check out: 50% off stilettos from Express, short-sleeve pajama sets by Joyspun, cable knit sweaters for under $15, & stylish mule slides from Target! Happy Styling!

Warmer Days Mean Watermelon Dreams!

Maybe it’s because it’s spring & sometimes spring on Long Island means that it’s basically summer, but I’ve got watermelon on the brain. This time last year, watermelon was one of my strongest cravings while pregnant–& now that I think of it, my daughter does have some cute watermelon-themed summer duds, so basically I want to match her in not just an outfit, but with my accessories too! Of course, there are a ton of fun, food-theme kitchy clothing articles (like lemon, lime, avocado, strawberries, or cherries), but there is something especially refreshing & youthful-for-all when it comes to watermelon! These cute & coordinated spring / summer-ready watermelon-centric accessories from @Old Navy will have you salivating with style & ready for the beach, park, & any daytrip or vacation you’re planning!

Style Tip: One Skirt Worn Six Ways!

I’m a big believer in getting the most use out of an item as I possibly can. That means that not only am I considering how many seasons I’m wearing something, but also how many different ways a piece can be worn. While I’m a sucker for black & white looks, I also love a colorful piece that way I can play up my neutral & bolder separates to give something new life.

For example, during a recent venture to Target, I perused through their clothing department, knowing that I couldn’t buy anything (budget, budget, budget), but since I’m always seeking inspiration, I excused the detour as necessary for my blog. My eye immediately spotted the Merona stripe pleated skirt, which is available in sizes XS-XXL, & its colorful stripe pattern made my head spin with styling possibilities for spring, summer, & fall. To get the most use out of wearing a garment like this (with tops tucked into the waist-cinching band, of course), here are just six stylish examples. Not to mention that you can layer sleeveless tops with pretty cardigans or neutral jackets (like khaki, denim, or olive camou) to offset the bold color palette.

SHOP: denim tank @GAP, green tank @Target, yellow flutter sleeve sweater @LOFT, navy cut-out tank @New York & Company, white studded tee @dressbarn (shop plus size here), & orange racer back tank @Old Navy

Because of the skirt’s delicate material & playful hues, I wouldn’t recommend it for winter, unless you live somewhere majestically sunny like southern California for those chillier months, perhaps with a ribbed turtleneck & cognac knee boots. Since I live on Long Island, I can’t fathom what it’s like to live somewhere without the extremes of both summer & winter.

However, the styling doesn’t end there, nor does the flair. The busy design & colors of the skirt shouldn’t hinder you from having fun with accessories either. Think of all the opportunities this skirt has to offer, as well as combinations of colors to wear when it comes to a statement necklace or dangly earrings.

SHOP: orange tortoiseshell earrings @Old Navy, yellow fringed hoop earrings @New York & Company, rose gold tassel earrings @H&M, blue lapis drop earrings @Charming Charlie, tribal woven choker @Forever 21, turquoise blossoms bib necklace @Charming Charlie, & howlite stone statement necklace @Francesca’s.

How would you style this skirt? What colors do you like to play with most in your wardrobe? Where are you shopping for the best deals on summer-to-fall transition pieces? Do you like to go bold with texture, pattern, & sparkle for your looks? Happy Styling!

Color Me Style: All You Need is Olive!

One color that works well to transition from spring to summer & summer to fall is olive. It’s an earthy neutral, sometimes referred to as khaki green, that looks luxe against gold accessories or with rich leather. Also, olive touches in cargo separates offer a dressed down & utilitarian feel to more formal pieces like a sequin skirt or little black dress, presenting new options to standards in your wardrobe rotation. Olive is also a fashionable alternative to pair with denim to channel a bohemia look, additional neutrals like navy or chocolate for a layered & details ensemble, as well as pastels in peach or pink for a blend of warmth & femininity.

SHOP: shirt dress @H&M, wrap dress @Kohl’s (available in sizes XS-XXL), crochet tank @Target, twill jacket @Old Navy, Audrey Brooke Viv sandal @DSW, G by Guess Beaut wedge sandal @DSW, cargo jogger pants @White House Black Market, & high low mini skirt @dressbarn.

What colors are your favorite to wear each season? Where do you shop for your favorite trends? Do you like to mix cargo separates with other wardorbe pieces? Which of the above bargain finds is your favorite? Happy Styling!

Accessories Access: Pom Pom Bags for Spring!

The world is our runway. This phrase couldn’t be truer. When a lot is happening in life, I sometimes feel stuck in my wardrobe, seeking something refreshing & exciting to recreate old favorites & discover new trends to move my style forward. However, inspiration is always just around the corner with every click & keystroke on different social media forums.

This spring is probably my favorite spring ever, possibly because so much in life seems to be aligned personally, & I’m also feeling more confident in my style. This knowledge has also informed my newfound respect & developing radar for how accessories can transform your look. While I’m experimenting most right now with separates (mixing prints & color combinations), I’ve noticed how the playful pom pom movement isn’t going away. This includes all sorts of accessories: bags, shoes, earrings, & necklaces. When so much of spring is about light layers & pastels, pom pom accents make a bold statement without being too over the top.

One easy way to embrace the pom pom is with a straw bag, which is perfect for the everyday Style Darling looking to try something different, as well as for a variety of occasions like a weekend away or luncheon with the girls. Sure, there are plenty of expensive designer options making waves in the fashion world, including selections by (above) Kate Spade New York, Rebecca Minkoff, Loeffler Randall, Alice + Olivia, & Nannacay. When seeking out this look, you certainly don’t have to break the bank since the following styles (below) range in price from $29.99 – $43.00.

SHOP: 1. bag @ASOS, 2. tote @Fayrouzy, 3. tote @Zulily, 4. bag @ASOS, & 5. tote @Stein Mart.

Splurge of Save… On Light Blue Suede Ankle Strap Sandals for Spring!

My goal, as of late, when it comes to my everyday outfits and sharing style tips on Style Darling Daily, is try something new. This includes combinations of separates that I hadn’t thought of previously, as well as only investing in special new additions that not only stand apart from other items I already own, but will also serve multiple purposes. I’ve realized that in the past, I’ve sought out dresses, shoes, & more that thrill me in the moment to add to my wardrobe, without considering their need in the long run. In order to better maintain my closet & finances, I’m being much more careful about how I approach styling.

With that, spring is underway & I’m trying to break away from my usual all-black or only black & white routine. Spring is all about soft, light colors, embracing pastels & brighter hues like nobody’s business. When I was recently perusing through my daily barrage of emails from my favorite stores, I saw a shoe trend that I just couldn’t stop thinking about. Normally, I’m not a trend chaser, sticking to what’s classic & works for my specific body type & daily needs. Ankle strap sandals have always been a little tricky. I haven’t been able to find a comfortable pair in recent years, though I’ve written much about the sleek & delicate style (here), but when I saw that so many different designers & retailers were pitching light blue suede ankle strap sandals for spring, my mind was racing with all the styling possibilities—with dresses, pencil skirts, cropped jeans, & so many more!

It doesn’t hurt to have a little celebirty inspiration when it comes to this particular shoe style, showing all the different colors & ways to wear them. This includes German starlet Diane Kruger, supermodel Kendall Jenner, Oscar-winner Emma Stone, blogger / actress Ashley MadekweOrange Is The New Black star Taylor Schilling, & pop star Rihanna

SHOP: 1. Stuart Weitzman nearly nude sandal @Stuart Weitzman, 2. Pelle Moda Bonnie sandal @Zappos, & 3. Steve Madden Carrson sandal @Steve Madden.

SHOP: 4. Jessica Simpson Monrae sandals @DSW, 5. Brash Houston sandal @Payless, & 6. ‘It’s Simple Really’ sandal @GOjane.

We all have different styling expectations & budgets, which is why I wanted to share the six above pairs of shoes, ranging in price from $21 – $400, including some very well-known, quality brands, as well as more affordable options to try this spring for a weekend brunch, Easter with the family, or a fashionable date night look.

For more ankle strap sandals, check out these options in other colors & textures to expand your shoe collection & brave a new shoe adventure!

The Stylish Five: Floral Scarves for Spring!

When it comes to spring fashion, scarves don’t always come to mind first, but they do for me! That’s because I have an enormous scarf collection that I have found much use out of over the years, adding plenty of texture & interest in building a look with a denim jacket over a dress, for example. Scarves are not just limited to one’s neck & for outerwear accessorizing too! Most of the time, I wear a light weight scarf knotted or bowed around my purse to give said every day carryall a little extra splash of style. You can play up a floral scarf with the colors in your outfit, as well as matching other hues of your bag. Here are five examples, ranging in price, but each offers a little something different in terms of color combinations & styling possibilities.

SHOP: abstract floral scarf @Ann Taylor, fuchsia floral scarf @dressbarn, floral & print scarf @Target, woven floral scarf @H&M, & meadow oblong scarf @White House Black Market.

To expand on my scarf-bag theory, here are a few combinations to consider when assembling your next spring outfit. This not only serves fashion, but utility as well. In case you’re chilly, but you hadn’t needed it earlier, it’s right there on your bag!

SHOP: blue dew scarf @DSW, striped Dana Buchman Bella tote @Kohl’s, square tulip scarf @LOFT, bucket backpack @Charlotte Russe, floral fringe scarf @Gap, & faux leather white tote @Forever 21.

Do you wear scarves in the spring? Where do you like to shop for spring accessories? Do you coordinate with your purse on a daily basis? Happy Styling!

Inside A Style Blogger’s Closet: My First Day of Spring Outfit!

For at least a good three weeks, I’ve been ready for spring. Here on Long Island, the weather has been so wishy-washy where there’d be an amazing sunny, spring-like day in the 60s, followed by a major yucky blizzard. This happened more than once recently too! My wardrobe has been feeling super bipolar as I’ve been wanting to wear lighter & softer pieces in pastels or florals, but there’s still a need for cozy layers to stay warm, especially since it’s been pretty chilly early in the morning… which brings me to today’s outfit. I don’t normally post a whole outfit that I’ve worn, partially because I don’t have access to a photographer (I live alone) on a daily basis. I’m lucky that my friends & coworkers at both of my jobs can spare a few minutes to indulge my style fancies & help me out with some spur-of-the-moment pics while on the clock, hence the sporadic sharing of whole outfit posts on my Instagram account (@MissAlissaL).

I absolutely love this floral fit-and-flare scuba skirt. It’s a style that I’ve been having a lot of fun with since last fall, one that’s perfect for tucking in with various tops, cinching in my waist & playing up a retro & ladylike vibe with modern flare. I’ve thought about styling this particular skirt in so may ways, pairing it with the different colors in the print, as well as with sparkly accessories. I’ve had the sheer dotted sweater in black (both pieces from @dressbarn) that I hadn’t worn yet. When I saw the two together, the sweater added just enough feminine detail at the neckline to counter the softness of the skirt without being too overpoweringly dark & black at the same time.

The accessories that I’m wearing in the picture above are no longer available (because I’ve had them each for quite some time now), but it’s easy to recreate a similar spring style with affordable look-alike coordinating statement jewelry, polished footwear, & a thin neutral belt.

SHOP: floral statement necklace @Forever 21, Fola bib necklace @Charming Charlie, flower stud earrings @Francesca’s, & glitter stone drop earrings @Icing.

SHOP: gold trim platform peep toe pumps @Charlotte Russe, patent D’Orsay pumps @Old Navy, snake pointed toe flats @Express, & Hope chopout mid heel @Payless

SHOP: bow belt @Target, skinny mint belt @Lulu’s, gold snake belt @H&M, & black braided belt @JCPenney

What spring trends are you excited to wear this season? What pastel colors do you love? Which accessories do you build your outfit around? Happy Styling!

Show Me the Shoes: Black & White Heels for Spring!

Spring is all about color! Pastels & bright hues are emerging from the darkness that is winter with lighter layers & softer palettes across the board. However, one of the edgiest ways to mix up your spring wardrobe is to pair a pattern or monochromatic outfit with a bold black & white heel. Since spring offers so many clean prints & floaty fabrics, a more modern shoe alternative in black & white will set you apart, changing the way you build a look. Combine stripes with floral or polka dots with animal prints to rediscover a new spring style.

SHOP: Claire d’Orsay pumps @JCPenney, Chinese Launrdy Elise polka dot pumps @6PM, ARA pom pom sandals @DSW, Christian Siriano Klassic cross strap pumps @Payless, Desi striped kitten heels @Sole Society, & Tyler almond toe flower pumps @Nine West

Accessories Access: Laser Cut Handbags, Shoes, & Belts for Spring!

In getting ready for spring (because it still isn’t here on Long Island—though we experienced two very magical spring-ish days before massive blizzards hit), I’m looking ahead, specifically to the trends I can’t wait to explore. One of the easiest ways to get into the mood of a new season is with accessories. My goal is to turn to some staple & classic pieces that I’ve collected from past seasons for my own looks. However, for some inspiration, I love seeing what’s new & stylish in stores & online right now to get me even more into a spring state of mine. Since I’m always interested in ways to mix patterns & textures to create a detailed & sophisticated look, I love the idea of laser cut accessories, which are typically faux leather, modern & feminine, & created in soft & neutral tones, to offset bold hues, floral prints, & abstract color combinations, especially when it comes to handbags, shoes, & belts. To achieve an affordable & fashionable take on spring, I’ve scoured the web & some of my favorite go-to stores to find the chicest ways to elevate your outfit, as well as help Style Darlings to transition from these last remaining chilly winter days & into a brighter & lighter spring style.

SHOP: black & white tote @dressbarn, nude scalloped crossbody @ASOS, beige handbag @Target, & white Western crossbody @Express.

SHOP: blue pointy toe flats @GOjane, white d’Orsay flats @Old Navy, black Darlene flats @Target, & blush dress sandals @Charlotte Russe

SHOP: pink stretch belt @Charming Charlie, bone skinny belt @Old Navy, & black faux leather belt @Banana Republic

06/21/2016 Darling of the Day: Blake Lively’s Yellow + Denim Combo Inpires Summer Style in New York City!

Blake Lively is making the style rounds to promote her latest film, The Shallows, taking advantage of every opportunity she can for a beautiful fashion moment. The actress donned her baby bump (#2 on the way for her & hubby Ryan Reynolds) like a prom queen / prep girl straight out of Gossip Girl (that’s really a compliment, folks!) after completing an appearance on NBC’s Today (in a stunning Elie Saab beaded frock & strappy Stuart Weitzman sandals seen here). While waving to photogs, Blake played up her yellow embellished Jenny Packham gown (see it here on the runway from the designer’s Fall 2016 collection) with a light wash denim jacket from Madewell (shop it here), printed Christian Louboutin ‘Kate’ chevron pumps (shop them here), as well as tons of turquoise, blue, & silver jewelry layered on to stay true to her bohemian aesthetic by Jennifer Meyer, Alison Lou, Mociun, & Lorraine Schwartz.

Since summer is all about maxi dresses, why not play with the styling possibilities & mix up your look with a staple like a denim jacket & fun footwear? That goes for classic prom dresses, perhaps something not so ball gown-shaped, as well as that bridesmaid dress tucked away in the back of your closet. Chiffon is a breezy, light weight material perfect to try on any look this season, maybe when you’re meeting with girlfriends for lunch, or headed to a museum or vineyard this weekend. Check out the inspiration below in dresses (not as glam as Blake’s but still hitting the sunshine-y notes of yellow) & accessories for budget shoppers who wear misses, plus, & petite sizes.

If pictures & links don’t quite do it for you, be sure to check out this short video of Blake in action, flaunting her look with confidence & elegance, something I practice even when walking from my front door to the car & from the car to wherever life is taking me.

While we’re on the subject of one Blake Lively, it would be a waste not to share the gallery below of Blake’s flawless maternity style this spring during press appearances, hitting the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival, & maintaining her #styleicon status at the 2016 Met Ball.
