Tonight’s Critics Choice Awards bring us one step closer to the climax of awards season for film, but this particular ceremony includes stars of both the big screen & small screen to unite & celebrate their talent, accomplishments, & of course fashion! There were so many trends of the night, continuing the glitz that we saw last weekend at the Golden Globe Awards, including dramatic metallic gown, classic black dresses with cut-outs, neutral / champagne tones, midi-length designs, variations on the naked dress, bold pops of color, & multicolored dresses.
I don’t know about you, but I haven’t stopped my standing ovation for Angela Bassett–not only for her history-making win for Best Supporting Actress in Any Motion Picture for her outstanding role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever at last night’s 80th Golden Globe Awards, but for her entire head-to-toe look. As soon as I saw her silver glistening Pamella Roland halter gown, I said, “That’s a winner’s dress,” & was right! Her Old Hollywood-inspired bob & gorgeous jewels made for a momentous night for both film & fashion, along with that of her stunning colleagues in the industry.
UPDATING as we speak… err type! Tonight’s Golden Globe Awards is off to a gorgeous start with some majorly breathtaking style on the red carpet! I just can’t decide on a favorite… just yet! See the gallery below for who wore what & leave your thoughts in the comments! Happy Styling!
Emmy, Grammy, & Tony-winning actress & singer Cynthia Erivo celebrates her 36th birthday today! What an accomplished & impressive career she has lead, in addition to earning 2 Academy Award nominations. The British star is expected to wow audiences in the big screen, two-part adaptation of Broadway’s Wicked, playing the green, evil Elphaba, but it’s her flair for drama on the red carpet that I’m most excited to discuss. She’s a fearless, one of a kind lover of fashion, bold when it comes to patterns, proportions, feathers, silhouettes, towering footwear, & extra sparkle. Her red carpet signature is her long, adorned nails, which only adds to her already stylish & progressive aesthetic. Take a look at the gallery below of Cynthia’s most stunning red carpet looks:
Actress Florence Pugh celebrates her 27th birthday today! As the new year gets started, we’re likely going to get a whole lot more amazing style this awards season & with more upcoming films! British fashion legend Vivienne Westwood passed away today at the age of 81. Her career began in the 1970s, proving relevant every decade with its blatantly refreshing combination of punk meets glam. Westwood’s signature corseted design with a deconstructed sweetheart neckline has drawn the attention of celebrity A-listers for good reason, especially as many stars have returned to the label time & time again, including Euphoria’s Zendaya, singer Gwen Stefani, Oscar-winner Jessica Chastain, The Crown’s Helena Bonham-Carter, Wednesday actress Gwendoline Christie, the always stylish Kate Beckinsale, Disenchanted star Amy Adams, The Great lead Elle Fanning, pop singer Katy Perry, Westworld actress Thandiwe Newton, & of course, Sarah Jessica Parker’s iconic Carrie Bradshaw in her gown from the Sex & the City film, which reappears in the upcoming second season of And Just Like That.
Take a look through the images below as we honor Westwood’s creative contributions to fashion & the inspiration she imbues on Style Darlings everywhere.
When rapper Nicki Minaj steps onto the red carpet, she means business—fashion business! Thus, on the multitalented & fierce style icon’s 40th birthday, we’re celebrating all of the revealing black gowns & dresses, bold rainbow colors, sleek mini dresses, power suits, halter gowns, big & beautiful hair, & cut-out showstoppers! The 10-time Grammy nominee isn’t slowing down, & you can be sure that her mix of Barbiecore glam & sultry stage goddess will only get better with time!
If there’s anyone who nails it on the red carpet absolutely every single time, it’s The Batman actress Zoë Kravitz! Her natural ease, fresh flair, & feminine edge make her standout with every look—not only when baring done skin in designer duds, but also hearkening to Old Hollywood glam by channeling Audrey Hepburn’s grace! The Big Little Lies star celebrates her 34th birthday today & with a career that includes the Fantastic Beasts franchise, the Divergent series, an X-Men film, an acclaimed role as Catwoman, this rock royalty (daughter of Lenny Kravitz & actress Lisa Bonet) is just getting started! I know I can’t wait to see what she wears next!
Three-time Emmy nominee Kaley Cuoco had been a red carpet regular since her early days on the smash hit comedy The Big Bang Theory; however, as the leading lady of HBO’s The Flight Attendant, the actress’ style is evolving with more sultriness, maturity, & modernity, as opposed to the classic Hollywood bombshell approach. Today marks her 37th birthday, so it’s time to celebrate her love of red gowns, floral accents, plunging necklines, ball gowns, & chic, flowy blonde tresses in the collection of her best style moments below:
Gemma Chan is not only an uber-talented force on the big screen, as per her captivating performances in Crazy Rich Asians, The Eternals, Captain Marvel, & Don’t Worry Darling, but she’s a style star with the kind of understated elegance & fierce poise that few achieve & many aspire to. Whether she’s donning a classic sheath dress or ball gown, Gemma presents a modern & refreshing twist on everything she wears, which is worth celebrating & admiring in her 40th birthday! Not to mention, she’s only just getting started!
One of Hollywood’s rising stars & most promising style icons is British actress Lashana Lynch, who you may recognize from Captain Marvel,No Time to Die, or The Woman King. Her red carpet style is a combination of modern & sultry, playing with cut-outs, volume, bold hues, a blend of edgy & soft, & gorgeous metallics. The star, who can be seen next as Miss Honey in Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical, celebrates her 35th birthday today. Take a look at her most glamorous looks to date:
Modern Family actress Sarah Hyland has quite the style profile, given her 11 seasons on the breakout hit ABC family comedy, which earned her regular entry on the red carpet for the Golden Globe Awards, Screen Actors Guild Awards, People’s Choice Awards, & Emmy Awards! The 32-year-old star gravitates towards classic silhouettes, feminine details, & playful patterns, though sometimes taking on edgy cut-outs & leggy looks too! She rules every red carpet & press appearance with class & is a breath of stylish fresh air.
Rachel McAdams has made her mark on cinema history in popular & acclaimed films, such as Mean Girls as the evil, but stylish Regina George, as Ally in the ever-romantic The Notebook, as the titular The Time Traveler’s Wife opposite Channing Tatum, in Sherlock Homes & the Marvel Cinematic Universe with her portrayal of Dr. Christina Palmer in Dr. Strange, but also in HBO’s True Detective & in her Academy Award-nominated role in 2015’s Spotlight. However, the Canadian actress’ repertoire doesn’t stop there as her red carpet history is spectacular too!
As a lover of prints, patterns, lace, feminine details, & bold silhouettes, Rachel is fearless when experimenting. Also, she’s a beauty chameleon, donning every hairstyle & color, depending on the role or mood she’s in, which also dictates how flirty, dramatic, or glamorous her overall look will be for a red carpet, press appearance, talk show stint, or when out & about donning impeccable street style. In honor of her 43rd birthday today, let’s take a stylish walk down fashion memory lane by checking out the gallery below:
At last night’s 2022 MTV Europe Music Awards, Midnights mastermind Taylor Swift dominated not only the red carpet, but the stage, earning well-deserved accolades for Best Artist, Best Video, Best Pop & Best Longform Video for “All Too Well: The Short Film,” starring Sadie Sink & Dylan O’Brien. The “Lavender Haze” singer donned 2 different dresses from David Koma, including a bodysuit & jeweled overlay (shop similar here), paired with sleek black slingback heels by Giuseppe Zanotti (shop here); when accepting her awards, Taylor strutted in a sparkling minidress (shop here) with silver platforms (shop similar here). These are by far her most glittery style choices yet, continuing her Midnights-era glam. Additionally, Taylor accessorizes with a mix of hoop, stud, & crawler earrings, along with various blinged-out rings, all of which offset her black & green cat-eye + curtain bang & tight bun beauty choices.
For a little more of what Taylor is serving up this season, here are her latest music videos for “Anti-Hero” & “Bejeweled”:
This year’s Baby2Baby Gala took place in West Hollywood this weekend, not only bringing out the most stylish of stars for the red carpet, but also shining a spotlight on the organization’s charitable efforts in helping children affected by poverty. Most of the celebrities in attendance are also mothers, but served dual roles as style stars, including The Honest Company founder Jessica Alba, actresses Camilla Luddington from Grey’s Anatomy & Emma Roberts, singers Ciara & Kelly Rowland, TV personality Jeannie Mai, celebrity stylist & designer Rachel Zoe, model Alessandra Ambrosio & Miranda Kerr, along with members of the Kardashian-Jenner clan, including Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, & Kris Jenner.
Not only is Not Okay star Zoey Deutch a natural comedic actress, but she’s also Hollywood royalty, as daughter of Back to the Future leading lady Lea Thompson, & Zoey commands the red carpet in her head-to-toe monochromatic style, bold suit ensembles, lacy little black dresses, elegant vintage looks, metallic minis, & love for bold prints! She can wear anything! I’ll be honest, I never paid much attention to Zoey’s public appearances, but upon learning of her 28th birthday today & setting out on a mission for a post today, I stand corrected! As a blonde, brunette, or redhead, Zoey is a style chameleon, exuding confidence, grace, & joy in every look. Her modern minimalism rivals her penchant for traditional Hollywood glam—I can’t decide which is better. Take a look through the color-coordinated gallery below to see all the reasons why Zoey’s style is worth celebrating!
Last night’s 2022 CFDA Fashion Awards celebrated the fashion industry’s giants with bold, maximalist styles on the red carpet. During the ceremony, rock star Lenny Kravitz was fittingly awards Fashion Icon, while stylist Law Roach was honored with the Stylist prize—makes sense given he’s behind everything gorgeous that Zendaya wears.
