Red Carpet Review: Selena Gomez Sparkles in Michael Kors at the Season 2 Premiere of Only Murders in the Building!

If you haven’t watched season 1 of Only Murders in the Building on Hulu, stop reading & go do it–all 10 episodes!

However, if you’re excited for season 2 to drop TODAY, just like I am, you’ll be extra psyched to see the show’s star, Selena Gomez, in all of her silver sparkly glory at the season 2 premiere in Los Angeles yesterday. With a cut-out & super high slit gown by Michael Kors, plus a beachy/glam ponytail, shimmering hoop earrings by Effy Jewelry (shop similar here), & makeup, no doubt, from her Rare Beauty collection, this is Selena’s best red carpet look EVER, IMO. She’s poised, polished, & perfectly glistening with such a modern take on a classic Hollywood aesthetic.

To catch up on what happened last season, watch the season 1 trailer (not a recap!) below:

If you haven’t already watched it on repeat, watch the hi-jinx about to ensue on the residents (& outcasts) of the Arconia building:

I can’t wait to laugh, cry, & wonder about how this new season will unfold, especially with celebrity guest stars, such as comedian Amy Schumer and model Cara Delevingne joining in on the fun.

06/28/2022 Darling of the Day: Kristen Bell’s Neon Cropped Blazer & PVC Heels!

Neon is always the best way to go for summer, even when coordinating a professional ensemble. Additionally, monochrome neon makes a bold statement that not only turns heads, but inspires us to expand our work wardrobes & experiment in unexpected ways. For example, Kristen Bell knows all about neon, continuing her recent style reign while balancing the monikers: The Good Place star, We Are Supported By… podcast host, supermom, & now author of the children’s book The World Needs More Purple Schools. Recently, while promoting the book, Kristen was spotted in New York City in this neon cropped blazer & coordinating high-waist trousers, along with PVC sandals, round sunglasses, a Anine Bing handbag (shop here), & gold earrings.

While the cropped blazer bit may not be the go-to look for every professional Style Darling, it definitely inspires a new way to think not only about blazers, but also about the blouse that could pair underneath it. In an effort to recreate Kristen’s look, check out the below suggestions:

SHOP: 1. cropped suiting blazer in neon green @We Wore What (available in sizes XS-XL, sale: $59.25), 2. Silver Treasures 14K gold round hoop earrings in onyx @JCPenney (sale: $33.00), 3. retro round sunglasses in black @Sunglasses To Go ($11.95), 4. high rise pleated suiting pant in neon green @We Wore What (available in sizes 00-14, $79.00), 5. A New Day small satchel handbag in black @Target ($35.00), & 6. Wild Pair Zandria clear vinyl dress sandals @Macy’s (sale: $41.70).

Since the suiting pair had limited size availability, I expanded my search to include my plus-size readers who are interested & eager to jump on board the neon & green, finding some affordable, stylish options below:

SHOP: high low peplum blazer in neon lime @Rainbow (sale: $11.99), tabbed sleeve blazer in lime @Rainbow ($24.97), tabbed sleeve blazer in Kelly green @Rainbow ($24.97), & high-waisted flare pants in Kelly green @Rainbow (sale: $7.79).

What do you think of Kristen’s street style? Would you wear head-to-toe neon or a cropped blazer? What’s your favorite style blazer? Which celebrity’s style do you love to follow? Red Carpet Review: The Best & Most Daring Looks from the 2022 BET Awards!

Last night’s BET Awards honored the achievements of black musicians from the past year, but were not without fanfare & glamour on the red carpet, using the awards platform for both style statements and vital political messages. Some of the red carpet highlights include Lizzo wearing a glittery navy Gucci gown, along with Taraji P. Henson in a striking, silver Tom Ford design, Chloe Bailey stunning in a Nicholas Jebran swirly look, Cynthia Erivo turning heads in a multicolor Louis Vuitton ensemble, Janelle Monae‘s transparent Roberto Cavalli gown, Lena Waithe in a pastel Casablanca suit, Halle Bailey‘s plunging Monot dress, Paula Patton in a magenta mini, & Marsai Martin in a custom Dolce & Gabbana flapper-inspired dress.

Check out the gallery & slideshow below to catch up on who sparkles, who took a risk, & who took their style game to a whole new level!

06/17/2022 Darling of the Day: Charlize Theron in Dior!

A classic look never goes out of style & is always a go-to for nearly any occasion, which was the case for Academy Award-winning actress Charlize Theron who celebrated her Africa Outreach Project 2022 Summer Block Party in head-to-toe Dior, which took place at the Universal Studios Backlot this past weekend. Cover Craze: Beyonce’s Bold British Vogue Cover Shoot!

New Beyoncé music is coming! New Beyoncé music is coming! Not only that, but the superstar songstress, actress, & mother is killing it on the July 2022 cover of British Vogue. In the article “B Ready: Beyoncé Is Poised For Her Next Evolution” by Edward Enninful with glamorously hip & edgy photographs by Rafael Pavarotti, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter ignites the internet with the news of her forthcoming album Renaissance, which will be released on July 29th.

The shoot includes gorgeous looks featuring pieces from legendary & daring names, such as: Alaia, Schiaparelli Haute Couture, Harris Reed & Roker, Tiffany & Co., Junya Watanabe, Lorraine Schwartz, Malakai, Vivienne H. Lake, Eddie Borgo, & Commando. The stunning images were inspired by “a fashion fantasia spun from the tropes of club life during the last century’s final quarter [featuring] mirror balls, light boxes, [and] headdresses,” Enninful claims, which only makes sense for the iconic powerhouse that Beyoncé is, 6 solo records later & after winning 28 Grammy Awards!

06/13/2022 Darling of the Day: Blake Lively’s #LWD Inspo for Summer!

When it comes to summer style, I’m always all about a breezy, comfy fit & pops of color, but a little white dress (#LWD) is always a staple to break out for a fresh day in the sun, gathering with family & friends, or a chic date night out. Case in point, actress & style icon Blake Lively attended this weekend’s Tribeca Film Festival in support of her superstar pal Taylor Swift‘s “All Too Well” short film, which apparently should not be confused with a music video. However, Blake’s classic white dress caught my eye to feature because the actress has elevated the look for evening with her always stylish eye for accessorizing, along with her charming husband, Ryan Reynolds at her side.

The featured neutrals, along with the light cotton frock offer a juxtaposition of hard & soft, as well as glitzy & effortless. Furthermore, the Christian Louboutin t-strap heels and Gucci purse are likely too costly for the average Style Darling, which is why I wanted to feature affordable & fashionable alternatives, if Blake’s look has you inspired. Here are a few white dresses, available in a variety of sizes XS-4X (while supplies last) to get you ready for your next summer night out in style, ranging in prices $24.99-$74.00:

SHOP: 1. Smocked Top Puff-Sleeve Dress @New York & Company, 2. Fit & Flare Sleeveless Cotton-Poplin Smocked-Bodice Midi Dress for Women @Old Navy, 3. Hear My Heartbeat White Sleeveless Tie-Back Tiered Maxi Dress @Lulu’s, 4. Sofia Jeans by Sofia Vergara Women’s Midi Empire Dress with Ruffle Seam @Walmart, 5. Who What Wear Women’s Elbow Sleeve One Shoulder Knit Dress @Target, & 6. BTFBM Women Summer Bohemian Floral Casual Wrap V Neck Ruffle Cap Sleeveless Belt A-Line Pleated Hem Swing Midi Sun Dress @Amazon.

Additionally, some suggested accessories to coordinate with any of these white dresses (or one that you still haven’t dug out from the back of your closet) include:

SHOP: 1. Lassy Pump by Mix No. 6 @DSW, 2. Liraven Pump by Mix No. 6 @DSW, 3. Liah Braided Slide Dress Sandals by I. N. C. @Macy’s, 4. Basketwoven Crossbody Bag @Forever 21, 5. 2-Daisy Earrings @Ardene, 6. Fiona Wrapped Flat Hoops @francesca’s, 7. LC Lauren Conrad Rose Gold Tone Flower Circle Necklace @Kohl’s, & 8. LC Lauren Conrad Hook Bangle Bracelet @Kohl’s.

Suiting Up for a Stylish 2020, Inspired by Awkwafina, Selena Gomez, & More!

Happy belated 2020 Style Darlings! I’m happy to make a return (albeit a brief one) to my blog posts, especially as I look forward to a stylish & confident new year. The semester is about to start & there is always a lot to do at home, which is why my regular posts are not as regular as I’d like. I encourage all of my readers to follow me on Instagram @styledarlingdaily to keep up with what I’m wearing, what I’m shopping for, what I’m loving, & who’s wearing what…which brings me to today’s post about who is wearing suits & why that’s so special.

I’m not much of suit sporter myself. I’ve never been a fan of what has always felt like a restrictive topper like a blazer, which is why I’m pro-cardigan on the daily, but I’m pretty inspired by the trend of playful & colorful suiting that I’ve seen on some of my favorite & most stylish celebrities. Wearing a head-to-toe pattern or monochromatic palette is both classic & edgy for any number of occasions, including figuring out what to wear to work! Some recent noteworthy looks include Golden Globe-winner Awkwafina (for her role in The Farewell) in a hot pink suit by Cinq à Sept (shop the blazer & pants) with a black crop top, Aussie Cate Blanchett‘s polka dot perfection in a Haider Ackermann suit with blue Dorateymur boots, Priyanka Chopra Jonas in a pretty pink silk suit with contrasting raspberry, a spring-ready Rose Byrne (star of Like a Boss) in a pastel suit by Christian Wijnants with white pumps, the always delightful Salma Hayek in all-over plaid by Gucci (shop the vest), & “Lose You To Love Me” singer Selena Gomez‘s cognac suit by Gauge81 paired with a cashmere blouse by Victor Glemaud & Yuul Yie boots.

Akwafina, Cate Blanchett, Priyanka Chopra, Rose Byrne, Salma Hayek, & Selena Gomez in suits.

Of course, some looks are bolder than others, but why not try something new without breaking the bank? Some of my favorite places to shop for matching separates include regular discounts & sales on new arrivals & wardrobe staples.

SHOP @New York & Company for the pink blazer & ankle pant (limited availability in sizes 0-20)

SHOP @New York & Company for the Madie plaid blazer & ankle pant (limited availability in sizes 0-20)

SHOP @ASOS for the blush smart mix & match blazer & cigarette pant (limited availability in sizes 0-14)

All About Platforms with Jessica Alba!

Jessica Alba has always been one of my favorite celebrities to watch out for on the red carpet because several elements of her personal style mirror my own. She loves feminine, classic pieces, never straying too far into an architectural or modern aesthetic, but still appearing current & trendy. While the actress / entrepreneur has been promoting her new series L.A.’s Finest (also starring the always exquisite Gabrielle Union), as well as her brand The Honest Company, Jessica has been all about platforms. I couldn’t help but notice the chunky shoe under many of her dresses during her promotional tour, a choice that I would not personally make, but something I love to look at with her red carpet fashion, which has a very 70s & 90s glam vibe right now.

Below Jessica goes peachy in a Giambattista Valli Spring 2019 dress with beige patent leather platforms & an Alaia cropped shirt with a striped skirt in Jimmy Choo platforms.

Also, at the Monte Carlo TV Festival, Jessica wore an orange Silvia Tcherassi belted dress with a Mulberry bag & satin platforms. For her Honest Beauty Meet & Greet, Jessica looks heavenly in a Self Portrait midi dress with rust suede Salvatore Ferragamo platforms. For the budget shopper looking for trend pieces without breaking the bank, check out some of these affordable & stylish platforms out in stores & online now.

06/19/2019 Darling of the Day: Victoria Beckham’s Modern Neon Inspiration!

Victoria Beckham is always flawless. This isn’t news, but I just had to start there. The Spice Girl-turned-designer recently stepped out in what starts to look like a minimalist summer look with a white tee & black cuffed jeans, accessorized with classic pieces like a sleek black envelope clutch, pendant necklace, a chain link gold watch, & Celine sunglasses (shop here)… until you see the heels! They’re Balenciaga Square Knife neon pumps (shop here) that make a wild style statement, but it all works seamlessly, especially on Victoria!

Of course, this look would’ve worked with pink, orange, red, or really, any color heel. She could’ve surprised us all with neon ballet flats, which would have been equally successful & exciting to post about. I’m always finding new ways to mix up my favorite wardrobe items in my collection, playing with different colors & patterns to pop, which is why I love Victoria’s inspiration so much.

However, we all don’t have the kind of budget needed to recreate this high-end, luxury look… but have no fear! Because so many of the pieces are staples, they’re not hard to find without breaking the bank! Even imitation-inspired heels are available to peruse (in several other colors too) to bring Victoria’s posh style back to life!

SHOP: Prologue short sleeve crew neck tee @Target (available in XS-XXL), black straight jeans @Old Navy (available in 0-20), neon green high heels @Stylentol, ASOS DESIGN clutch @ASOS, tinted sunglasses @Forever 21, hammered pendant necklace @Forever 21, & gold pave square link watch @New York & Company.
