If there’s any actress sure to garner attention for the glossy photos of a magazine cover shoot, it’s Anne Hathaway! For the November 2022 issue of Vogue Hong Kong, the Academy Award-winner channels her 60s goddess, which we’ve been seeing a lot lately for recent red carpets & press events, discussing turning 40 soon, her 4 upcoming films (Armageddon Time,Eileen, She Came to Me, & Mother’s Instinct), as well as family & fashion!
When Adele sings, talks, poses for a photo shoot, & posts on Instagram, the world stops & for good reason! ELLE knows this, which is why the 15-time Grammy winner is featured on the coveted September issue cover in all of her diva glory, beauty, & style. In the article, written by Emma Carmichael & photographed by Mario Sorrenti, Adele discusses the heartbreak behind cancelling her Las Vegas residency, being a mother to her 9-year-old son Angelo, the authenticity of her performances, her continued excitement to share her recent album 30 with audiences, & her relationship with sports agent Rich Paul.
For her show in London earlier this year, Adele recounts the audience’s response to her hit ballad “Someone Like You,” stating, “I wrote that on my own, in my little tiny flat, when I was 21…The fact that they all still remember the words and love the song, it was just incredible.” Also, the singer cherishes & still learns from the early days of her career to keep her grounded, sharing, “I remember writing 19 very, very much, and going from the studio to meet my friends at the pub. I remember getting on the Tube and going to every meeting I had, and I remember going to after-parties of my friends’ little gigs. I remember all of those things, and I remember all of the first times I did something. I remember them even when I’m doing them for the millionth time.”
For the highly anticipated September issue of Voguemagazine, tennis star, style icon, & entrepreneur Serena Williams announces her “evolution” to other interests than tennis, which is what she calls it since the word “retirement” gives her pause. For the article she wrote, as told to Rob Haskill, Serena reflects on her career, women’s equality in sports, being her sister Venus’ shadow growing up, the challenges & joys of motherhood, future professional endeavors, & all of her fears as she moves forward into the next chapter of her life.
While sharing her athletic journey to winning championships as a young girl, Serena states, “I want to be great. I want to be perfect. I know perfect doesn’t exist, but whatever my perfect was, I never wanted to stop until I got it right…I learned the lessons from Venus’s losses instead of the hard way, from my own. It was as if I were playing her matches, too. I’m a good mimic. Growing up I tried to copy Pete Sampras. I loved Monica Seles, and then I studied Monica Seles. I watched, I listened, then I attacked. But if I hadn’t been in Venus’s shadow, I would never be who I am. When someone said I was just the little sister, that’s when I got really fired up.“
In addition to Serena’s intimate revelations about her personal goals & family confessions, the article includes a “Life in Looks” video, flashing back to the star athlete’s photographs with Vogue, style on the court, red carpet history, & more thoughts on her fashion choices, all of which are such an integral part of Serena expressing who she is.
If you’re still catching up with the second volume of Stranger Things‘ 4th season, lean in! The anticipation for the 5th & final season is real, especially as star Sadie Sink is stepping more & more into the spotlight both on the Netflix fantasy drama & in other projects. The 20-year-old redhead is the face of FASHION magazine’s September issue, speaking to the article‘s author, Annika Lautens, about her journey to stardom starting out in regional theater in Houston with her brother, along with learning from colleagues, like Taylor Swift & Helen Mirren.
For the feature article’s photo shoot, styled by Karen Clarkson & photographed by Royal Gilbert, the Fear Street star’s feminine side sparkles with lots of pink, lace, regal jewels, & pointy toe pumps, which are a departure from her personal off-screen style that includes baggy jeans, a tee, & a blazer. However, the looks for the shoot derive from designers, such as Miu Miu, Versace, GCDS, Bulgari, Moschino, Gucci, Alaia, & Prada.
As the recent covers of fashion publications get more & more glamorous, readers are also served plentiful substance concerning diversity & culture-conscious topics since the language of fashion encompasses all identities. This is why Vogue‘s August 2022 issue, featuring Golden Globe-winner, Emma Corrin (they/them), is such a milestone for LGBTQ+ visibility & an opportunity to explore the fluidity of fashion. Emma is the first openly non-binary cover star for the magazine, embracing both fashion & body hair their way—unapologetically!
Spector not only writes about Emma’s rise to fame as Princess Diana on Netflix’s The Crown, but also their upcoming projects, including My Policeman, alongside Harry Styles, & an adaptation of Lady Chatterly’s Lover by D. H. Lawrence, as well as Emma’s social media presence supporting & raising awareness for the trans community. Emma states, “In my mind, gender just isn’t something that feels fixed…and I don’t know if it ever will be; there might always be some fluidity there for me…If you have a platform and you’re able to use it, that’s obviously so important—and I met some incredible people through it.”
Actress Taraji P. Henson is making waves not just in front of the camera as Cookie Lyon in Empire, but also on the big screen (of course, she did this in Hidden Figures too) with her new film out next year, What Men Want–a remake of 2000’s What Women Want starring Mel Gibson & Helen Hunt). She’s not just the star of the comedy, but also serves as executive producer for the film. For In Style magazine’s January issue, Taraji also discusses in the article (read here) about being a single mom & her 20-plus year career & her connection to her fans, both nationally & internationally.
The blonde bombshell discusses her production company, LuckyChap Entertainment, established in 2014, as well as her new film Mary Queen of Scots co-starring Saoirse Ronan.

I. Love. Emma. Stone. My nose is glued to the screen whenever Emma Stone is promoting a film & has countless red carpet premieres to attend. She’s not only an iconic fashion chameleon, but her all-around girl-next-door goofball vibes makes me feel like we really could be best friends. I’m obsessed with her sense of style & will almost always vote her best dressed, no matter the competition. So, when it came to seeking out what she’s been up to, I was super excited that she was Marie Claire’s September cover star. Emma’s currently promoting her new film, Battle of the Sexes, all about tennis-legend Billie Jean King in 1973 & co-starring Steve Carrell, Emma’s Crazy, Stupid Love on-screen dad, who plays her rival, Bobby Riggs.
The interview for Marie Claire is conducted by funny lady Sarah Silverman, who has a girl crush on Emma that reads quite equal to mine, where Emma discusses the power each of our voices have in times of controversy & political uprising, but also the challenges that the Oscar-winning actress (for of course, La La Land) faced when becoming Billie Jean King for the new film.
The photo shoot (led by Greg Kadel) includes Emma wearing some gorgeous pieces from Dior, Chanel, Valentino, Bulgari, to name a few!
Battle of the Sexes premieres on September 22nd, just in time to kick of awards season & you can be sure that I’ll be on the lookout for Emma’s highly anticipated press tour fashion!
Are you going to see Emma Stone’s new film? Do you like the styling of her Marie Claire cover shoot? Which stars do you love to see on magazines? Happy Styling!
Selena Gomez is a force to be reckoned with & her latest appearance on American Vogue (the first time she’s appeared on the revered fashion magazine’s cover) is just another example of how the multitalented star is truly herself & a superstar at the same time. During her interview, she discusses everything from mental health & therapy, growing up in the spotlight, why she’s ghosting on Instagram, how she’s keeping mum on her new relationship with The Weeknd, & what’s next for her both personally & professionally.
For no real, legit, justified reason at all, I was hesitant to jump on the Amy Schumer-loving bandwagon. In retrospect, the thought of it now is insane because I’m all about strong, confident, smart women who have a lot to say & say it well. Since I’m not a Comedy Central watcher (perhaps another flaw I should seek to rectify?), I didn’t know what Inside Amy Schumer was for the longest time. My first exposure to the Long Island native & comedy pioneer (shame on me as a fellow LI gal!) was during that one scene on HBO’s Girls during the season 3 premiere when she yells at Hannah & Adam at Grumpy’s after Adam broke it off badly with Shiri Appleby’s practically perfect catch character, Natalia. Watch it here. I digress.
I love everything that Amy Schumer is about & I can’t wait to read her book, The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo (read an excerpt here), which hits bookshelves on August 16th. It’ll fit in perfectly with my summer of humor reading by female authors, but what’s really the best of both worlds is that Amy is July’s cover girl for Vogue!
The article (by Jonathan Van Meter) is nothing short of fabulous & funny, inspiring & honest, & chalk full of quotes & one-liners from the Trainwreck star (Golden Globe-nominated too, by the way) you’ll walk away with still bouncing around in your head well into the later hours of the night. The comedian / actress / writer / producer / cover girl / Jennifer Lawrence’s bestie / all around badass of feminism bluntly & endearingly discusses her love life, the reality of her sexcapade past, her admiration of the late Joan Rivers, her feelings about the worlds of fashion & Hollywood, Hillary Clinton, & the importance of family.
If Amy’s words on the page (or website) aren’t enough to give you a giggle or smirk, check out the video below of Amy & Vogue editor Anna Wintour’s hijinx when they hilariously swap their respective comedy club touring & high fashion lives.
If you don’t subscribe already to Vogue, go buy the issue & support the print industry, if not for the glossy photos (by none other than Annie Leibovitz) of an elegant Amy traipsy through New York City in glamorous gowns & designer duds, then at least for the free perfume samples. Check out when & whereAmy is touringthis summer (her upcoming Madison Square Garden gig is SOLD OUT!)! Happy Styling!
The article features Olivia’s own words about her where her flawless style comes from, her goals for the ever-changing world of fashion & technology, as well as her personal work ethics in building her brand.
While biding my time during the holidays, stuck in bed, sick as a pampered pooch, I spent some time flipping through the January 2013 issue of Vogue, with the always glamorous Gwen Stefani on the cover. Gwen has been one of my fashion idols for a long time, & I still remember hearing “Just A Girl” on the radio for the first hundred times back when I was in middle school. Inside the magazine, you’ll find ridiculously fashionable shots of the No Doubt frontwoman, alongside her bandmates whose latest album, Push & Shove, is creating lots of buzz for the band’s long-awaited reunion. Check out the video below to get a taste of Gwen’s history with the group & her hot looks for the new year, featuring designs by Alexander Wang & Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane. Happy Styling!
The gossip columns were on overload this past week when actress Katie Holmes announced to the public that she was divorcing husband of five years, Tom Cruise. However, it’s clear that the world is on Katie’s side, especially since she looks better than ever on the August 2012 cover of Elle & isn’t letting anyone or anything get in the way of her independence.
That’s to Facebook updates, I learned that the Dawson’s Creek star even made an appearance as a guest judge during a taping last week for the latest season of Project Runway: All Stars. I haven’t received my issue of this magazine yet, but when I saw these images circulating online- clad with blunt bangs, menswear-inspiration, & the long-missed glitz & glamour that the star hasn’t revealed in a long time- I knew I had to share them with readers. What do you think of this next chapter for Katie? Are you for or against the split?
