Fashion Flashback: The Best Pink Gowns of The Emmy Awards!

The ceremony for The 74th Annual Emmy Awards takes place tomorrow night & I’m so excited to see what my favorite stars are wearing, especially since there are so many deserving returning favorites to the show, along with first-time nominees whose work has been dominating social media fodder. This includes Amanda Seyfried, Lily James, Sydney Sweeney, Zendaya, Elle Fanning, Hannah Waddingham, Rachel Brosnahan, Kaley Cuoco, Selena Gomez, Sandra Oh, Reese Witherspoon, Julia Garner, Christina Ricci, Melanie Lynskey, & more! However, in honor of tomorrow night’s broadcast, I wanted to take a walk down Fashion Memory Lane to celebrate gowns of years’ past in pink!

I choose pink since I am predicting that is the color that will reign over this year’s red carpet, especially after a summer of Barbiecore. In the past, we’ve seen elegance & edge in black, red, white, & metallic tones, but nothing beats a look in a pink champagne, cotton candy, rose gold, dusty rose, salmon, magenta, or dark fuchsia! No matter if an entire gown is in pink, if it’s in a pattern, or a playful accent to a look, pink hues are timeless & ageless, as well as luxe on any red carpet. She’s not just the star of the comedy, but also serves as executive producer for the film. Earlier in the fall, I was asked what trend I was most interested in, & I was surprised to realize that I’d been all about skirts because my spring & summer wardrobe was so fit & flare dress heavy. However, my flirtation with skirts isn’t exclusive to one style since I’m pretty psyched about all styles & how to explore separates combinations & playing with different patterns. Though, not all skirts are flattering for all body types, but one of the most classic styles that best fits & enhances any shape is the pencil skirt, which is versatile enough to pair with a variety of tops to take you to work to date to weekend & everywhere in between.

There’s so much holiday talk in the air, but it’s also another season! All the best & most highly-anticipated films are about to hit theaters for awards season, which means that some of today’s most in-demand actresses are making jaw-dropping red carpet appearances, speaking at press events, & doing the talk show rounds, inspiring viewers with their class, intelligence, talent, & style. Aside from the excitement of seeing who is wearing what, the fashion in these films is definitely worth talking about. I was recently talking to some writer friends about how I haven’t been very enthusiastic about movies lately, especially since there’s so much amazing television on these days, but my mind is changed. I’m gushing over the visual candy that is La La Land, the retro elegance in Rules Don’t Apply & Jackie, as well as the high fashion stakes set in Miss Sloane & Nocturnal Animals (Directed by acclaimed designer Tom Ford).

The variety of inspiration comes from period pieces, high fashion cinema, & futuristic sci-fi vibes, which means that anything is possible when it comes to not only escaping into the big screen, but also into your wardrobe’s potential. Tonight’s Emmy awards are already causing a buzz all over the internet, especially among fashion bloggers everywhere. I have nothing but love to show for all the female nominees & presenters on the red carpet. At the end of the day, it’s all about positively celebrating today’s most talented women. However, when it comes to fashion, there’s a legacy about the red carpet & seeing high-end couture & designers’ visions come to life on some of our favorite stars.

Some of my favorites walked the red carpet in California’s sweltering heat to the beat of their own stylish drum, including Scandal star Kerry Washington (in Marc Jacobs), Modern Family star Sarah Hyland (in Zac Posen), a bold January Jones (in Ulyana Sergeenko), Empire‘s Cookie, Taraji P. Henson (in Alexander Wang), & funny girl Amy Schumer (in Zac Posen).

More beauty was in tow with stars from all side of entertainment, including the highly anticipated star of American Horror Story: Hotel, Lady Gaga (in Brandon Maxwell), Orange is the New Black star Laverne Cox (in Calvin Klein Collection), Homeland actress Claire Danes (in Prada), the always curvaceous Christina Hendricks (in Naeem Khan), Parks & Recreation star Aubrey Plaza (in Alexandre Vauthier), & bride to be Sofia Vergara (in St. John).

Last night’s #MetGala at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art honored Asian-inspired fashion with Anna Wintour‘s latest exhibition, China: Through the Looking Glass. In attendance were top A-listers from the realms of fashion, music, Hollywood, & more, wowing on the red carpet & showing support for the art of fashion. Some of the greatest risk takers of the night included Rihanna in a stunning over-the-top gold design by Guo Pei, Beyoncé‘s barely there shimmering gown by Givenchy, Jennifer Lopez who showed off her best assets in a Versace design, Sarah Jessica Parker‘s collaboration with H&M & a masterfully crafted Philip Treacy headpiece, the always elegant Kerry Washington in a pink Prada confection, & Anne Hathaway‘s futuristic & sleek hooded gold gown by Ralph Lauren.
