While I’m a major fan of the glorious ballgown on a red carpet, I’m always fascinated to study the non-traditional choices, which are becoming more & more the norm, including short dresses & pants / jumpsuits / tuxedos on female attendees. There are so many lists & galleries on social media & the internet recalling the best Golden Globe looks of all time, as well as the most extreme. One of my favorite designers of all time is Marchesa, the epitome of glamour & elegance when it comes to ornate & timeless red carpet gowns, as famously seen on the red carpet on celebrities like Sandra Bullock, Halle Berry, Blake Lively, & Kerry Washington. The brand’s newest Pre-Fall 2015 Collection is everything & more to expect, including lots of brocade, lace, metallic textures, & just-right ruffles. Of course these designs are perfect for the upcoming awards season, likely to be seen on red carpet favorites like Big Eyes star Amy Adams, American’s sweetheart Jennifer Garner, model-turned-style-icon Kendall Jenner, & Girls actress Allison Williams.
The 2013 Oscars are just starting & there’s so much to talk about from tonight’s red carpet, including the anticipation behind the performances from the cast of Les Miserables, as well as the tribute to the James Bond series. After what’s starting out to be a party-filled weekend, I can’t help but look back at the headline-making red carpet appearances from the last week. Of course, I’m headed to birthday parties & Halloween celebrations, not galas, premieres, or press events, but there’s also prepping for this nasty hurricane in the hopes that it simply whispers passed Long Island & the rest of the Northeast. So if you’re not talking about Sandy, start talking about style. Some of my favorite looks include major trends seen on & off the runway recently, teaching us budget shoppers how to make it work.
