Tonight’s Critics Choice Awards bring us one step closer to the climax of awards season for film, but this particular ceremony includes stars of both the big screen & small screen to unite & celebrate their talent, accomplishments, & of course fashion! There were so many trends of the night, continuing the glitz that we saw last weekend at the Golden Globe Awards, including dramatic metallic gown, classic black dresses with cut-outs, neutral / champagne tones, midi-length designs, variations on the naked dress, bold pops of color, & multicolored dresses.
I don’t know about you, but I haven’t stopped my standing ovation for Angela Bassett–not only for her history-making win for Best Supporting Actress in Any Motion Picture for her outstanding role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever at last night’s 80th Golden Globe Awards, but for her entire head-to-toe look. As soon as I saw her silver glistening Pamella Roland halter gown, I said, “That’s a winner’s dress,” & was right! Her Old Hollywood-inspired bob & gorgeous jewels made for a momentous night for both film & fashion, along with that of her stunning colleagues in the industry.
UPDATING as we speak… err type! Tonight’s Golden Globe Awards is off to a gorgeous start with some majorly breathtaking style on the red carpet! I just can’t decide on a favorite… just yet! See the gallery below for who wore what & leave your thoughts in the comments! Happy Styling!
British fashion legend Vivienne Westwood passed away today at the age of 81. Her career began in the 1970s, proving relevant every decade with its blatantly refreshing combination of punk meets glam. Westwood’s signature corseted design with a deconstructed sweetheart neckline has drawn the attention of celebrity A-listers for good reason, especially as many stars have returned to the label time & time again, including Euphoria’s Zendaya, singer Gwen Stefani, Oscar-winner Jessica Chastain, The Crown’s Helena Bonham-Carter, Wednesday actress Gwendoline Christie, the always stylish Kate Beckinsale, Disenchanted star Amy Adams, The Great lead Elle Fanning, pop singer Katy Perry, Westworld actress Thandiwe Newton, & of course, Sarah Jessica Parker’s iconic Carrie Bradshaw in her gown from the Sex & the City film, which reappears in the upcoming second season of And Just Like That.
Take a look through the images below as we honor Westwood’s creative contributions to fashion & the inspiration she imbues on Style Darlings everywhere.
One star whose style, talent, & influence has been on the rise in recent years is model-turned-actress Anya Taylor-Joy, who you might recognize as the beauty & force behind Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit, as well as the 2020 adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma, & most recently, The Menu, for which she has earned another Golden Globe nomination. However, it’s Anya’s compelling cover for Harper’s Bazaar Australiathat has me excited, featuring the star in tailored & dreamy looks by Christian Dior with diamonds from Tiffany & Co..
The article, written by Frances Hedges, highlights Anya’s on-screen transformations, international experiences having grown up in Argentina, how fame has impacted her life, as well as future projects, such as Laughter in the Dark and Nosferatu.
Styled by Jillian Davison & photographed by Georges Antoni, Anya poses horseback in a variety of red, leather, lace, & menswear-inspired pieces that perfectly capture her balance between the delicate & dynamic.
