The Los Angeles premiere of the highly-anticipated live-action version of The Little Mermaid saw the film’s stars & fans of the original animated film unite in their love of all things under-the-sea, as well as with style & elegance. Most notably, Halle Bailey‘s portrayal of Ariel is one of the most exciting cinematic splashes to launch this summer! During the celebration, Halle dazzled in a mermaid-inspired gown by Valdrin Sahiti. Additionally, other fashionable stars on the blue carpet include Melissa McCarthy (who fills the role of Ursula) in a cobalt Taller Marmo design, model Heidi Klum in an ethereal butterfly Jasmin Erbas dress, the star’s sister Chloe Bailey in bold yellow gown by African designer Gert-Johan Coetzee, comedian Awkwafinain a gold Simone Rocha design, & Bridgerton‘s Simone Ashley in a stunning Versace mini dress.
Sunday night’s Oscars were magical, celebrating the magic of film; however, the after parties included a tremendous amount of sparkle, skin, & jewels as stars attend either or both the Vanity FairOscars Party or the bash for the Elton John AIDS Foundation. The glamour continued & even surpassed some of the ceremony’s high fashion. See the gallery below!

While I’m a major fan of the glorious ballgown on a red carpet, I’m always fascinated to study the non-traditional choices, which are becoming more & more the norm, including short dresses & pants / jumpsuits / tuxedos on female attendees. There are so many lists & galleries on social media & the internet recalling the best Golden Globe looks of all time, as well as the most extreme. However, let’s take some time to review the non-traditional, which are likely to appear on tonight’s red carpet for the highly-anticipated return of the controversial awards ceremony.
From mini to midi dresses, the red carpet is no stranger to short designs with some sparkle, structure, or volume, especially when making an elegant, playful style statement:
Pants looks come in all forms, on a deconstructed tuxedo, jumpsuit, & suit, imitating the dress look, but also playing with cut-outs, adornments, separates, & proportions. Black is the most popular option with a pants look, as seen below:
This weekend’s star-studded red carpet for the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s 2022 Gala, included gorgeous vintage & contemporary gowns & suits, with a special celebration of Gucci designs as the house sponsored the event. Some of the A-listers who wowed with their constant glamour include Euphoria actress Sydney Sweeney, Anne Boleyn star Jodie Turner-Smith, model Heidi Klum, director-actress Olivia Wilde, Abbott Elementary breakout Quinta Brunson, Emmy winner Julia Garner, two-time Oscar nominee Carey Mulligan, K-pop singer Rosé, the always stunning Salma Hayek-Pinault, socialite Paris Hilton, director Elizabeth Banks, Grammy winner Billie Eilish, & more! Take a look at the gallery below, including the stylish menswear from Jared Leto & Simu Liu!
In honor of Independence Day, I’ve gathered fashion from the past in gorgeous red, white, & blue designs–blue, of course in shades of navy, royal, & pastel. Mostly dresses, the below slideshow & gallery showcases some of my favorite red carpet looks from not only recently, but also for the last decade (or more) at awards shows, premieres, film festivals, & more!
