Red Carpet Review: The Glamorous 2023 Critics Choice Awards, Including Amanda Seyfried, Janelle Monae, Stephanie Hsu, & More!

Tonight’s Critics Choice Awards bring us one step closer to the climax of awards season for film, but this particular ceremony includes stars of both the big screen & small screen to unite & celebrate their talent, accomplishments, & of course fashion! There were so many trends of the night, continuing the glitz that we saw last weekend at the Golden Globe Awards, including dramatic metallic gown, classic black dresses with cut-outs, neutral / champagne tones, midi-length designs, variations on the naked dress, bold pops of color, & multicolored dresses.

Some of my favorites of the night include Abbott Elementary actress Sheryl Lee Ralph–who arrived in what I like to call “a winner’s dress” by Jovana Louis, Glass Onion star Kate Hudson‘s silver sheer halter gown by Oscar de la Renta, Pam & Tommy nominee Lily James modernizing another Old Hollywood look by Oscar de la Renta, The Whale‘s Sadie Sink in a youthful Chanel frock, host Chelsea Handler in a chic orange Maticevski design, along with Everything Everywhere All at One supporting actress Stephanie Hsu in a classic tangerine Valentino gown, Niecy Nash-Betts shimmering in a Jason Wu confection, & the always glamorous Angela Bassett in a black velvet Christian Siriano design (& she nabbed another award for her gripping performance in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever). I don’t know about you, but I haven’t stopped my standing ovation for Angela Bassett–not only for her history-making win for Best Supporting Actress in Any Motion Picture for her outstanding role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever at last night’s 80th Golden Globe Awards, but for her entire head-to-toe look. As soon as I saw her silver glistening Pamella Roland halter gown, I said, “That’s a winner’s dress,” & was right! Her Old Hollywood-inspired bob & gorgeous jewels made for a momentous night for both film & fashion, along with that of her stunning colleagues in the industry.

From shimmering cosmetics to fluffy lashes, sculpted hairstyles to flowing locks, & statement earrings to layered necklaces, the stars celebrated the night in the most stylish & sparkly way they know how. Red Carpet Review: The 2022 CFDA Fashion Awards, Featuring Vanessa Hudgens, Halle Bailey, Julia Fox, & More!

Last night’s 2022 CFDA Fashion Awards celebrated the fashion industry’s giants with bold, maximalist styles on the red carpet. During the ceremony, rock star Lenny Kravitz was fittingly awards Fashion Icon, while stylist Law Roach was honored with the Stylist prize—makes sense given he’s behind everything gorgeous that Zendaya wears.

As for the celebrity turnout, style was at a high, including lots of black, drama, skin, & elegance, including some favorites, such as singer Halle Bailey’s pink Carolina Herrera dress, actress Kerry Washington’s mini tux by Vera Wang, model Julia Fox’s revealing Valerievi design, actress Christina Ricci in a metallic Rodarte dress, the incomparable Khloe Kardashian’s ab-baring number by LaQuan Smith, performer extraordinaire Keke Palmer’s floral Carolina Herrera look, model & body activist Ashley Graham in a Peter Do trench dress, & High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens in lingerie-inspired separates by Vera Wang.
