Splurge or Save… on Platform Sneakers?

I mean… with a price different of over $750, what’s the question really? Sneakers are becoming more & more stylish these days, so it’s no wonder that major mainstream retailers, like Target, are “taking inspiration” from luxury designers to elevate how consumers express their street style.

Chloé’s Nama sneaker (above @Chloé) comes in 6 chic & playful different color combinations, but for nearly $800, a budget shopper just can’t fathom that kind of an investment in footwear. However, Target comes to the style rescue with these newly back-in-stock sneakers that I’ve been eyeing for quite some time!

During a recent trip to Sydney, Australia, Oscar-winning actress Natalie Portman attended the Angel City Equity Summit to support Angel FC, the National Women’s Soccer League she co-founded, as reported by People. As paparazzi focused more on the Natalie’s missing wedding ring amid rumors & scandal surrounding her 11-year marriage to choreographer Benjamin Millepied, Natalie makes a case for confident & poise in her preppy off-duty look.

On Tuesday, the multihyphenate celebrated National Spritz Day while promoting Delola, her new business venture of “world class crafted cocktails,” according to the brand’s website. As posted on her Instagram, a video, featuring Taylor Swift‘s “Cruel Summer,” shows Jennifer exiting her summer home (maybe in The Hamptons?), wearing a gorgeous green–her favorite color–coreseted floral midi dress with a slit (see below), It’s a perfectly breezy choice for the summer & occasion. While everyone in the world is talking about the Barbie movie, it’s not only Margot Robbie & Ryan Gosling‘s performances that are being praised, but America Ferrera‘s empowering role as Gloria as well. During the film’s promotional tour earlier this month, while the cast journeyed from continent to continent, the Golden Globe & Emmy-winning actress took to Instagram in London in a chic & polished striped J.Crew button-down (that was customized with cropping), a leather midi pencil skirt by Matches, white stiletto pumps (shop similar here), & gold hammered earrings (shop similar here). While everyone is out & about in platforms & varieties of ankle boots or slides, I’m still all about a pointy toe ballet flat! I’ll invest in every color under the sun to stay comfortable for a work day giving lectures. I love the point to polish off my look–no matter what I’m wearing. Not to mention that I’m very drawn to flats that feature special embellishments, including studs, bows, or jewels. However, this post is all about the chunky chain!

On a recent quick trip to Walmart, I took a stroll down the clearance-lined shoe aisle, & came across these dramatic knotted flats, perfect when needing a classic black option with a little extra flair—for only $7!

Once the sun comes out & the all that cold goes away, it’s time to break out some mules! The slide trend isn’t going away as we’re setting our feet free for another season of casual cool style.

I love the simplicity & of these with the braided, textured top. Additionally, they are versatile to wear for work, a weekend brunch with friends, a floral jumpsuit for a day date, or when running errands. My favorite is the black & white pair since it’s a polished contrast to other prints I may wear!
