Show Me the Shoes: Fabulous Floral Flats for Fall!

When it comes to fall fashion, bold florals don’t usually come to mind first, but I like mixing it up when the seasons change with unexpected pops of colors so as not to look like everyone else in plaid & still challenge myself. Anyway, expressing one’s style isn’t about following trends!

Florals are not for everyone & I typically veer my style attention away from a traditional grandmother/curtain-looking floral; however, one pair of floral flats that I’ve had since last year always seems to stay in rotation. I love the Dream Paris casual pointed toe ballet comfort soft slip on flat shoes in floral @Amazon (on sale: $21.99 & available in sizes 5-12) for the color versatility with magenta, purple, white, neon green, navy, & black.

I’ve worn these to the office with virtually every solid maxi dress that I own, paired with a crochet bolero or cardigan, as well as with different pant & blouse outfits. After getting another closet look at them online & wearing them on & off cue the last few months, I suspect that the floral pattern placement on each pair may vary, as seen with my shoes below.

For fall, I even love mixing these flats with a navy & magenta outfit, as well as a black & purple color-blocked look. Not to mention that the shoes are perfect beyond the office with a shift or fit & flare dress for a special occasion. They’re super comfortable & I get so many compliments on them every time I wear them.

Additionally, they’re reduced in priced from $35.99 & have a 4/5 rating from over 7,000 reviews! However, one downside is that they’re not available for shoppers needing a wide width size.

The Stylish Five: Extra 70% Off Clearance Sale Extended @J.Crew Factory!

Now is the perfect time of year to stock up on new summer favorites that can be worked into your summer-to-fall transition wardrobe, but also to hang onto for next year–or that surprise winter vacation you may take to a tropical location or resort destination! Just this morning, J.Crew Factory bombed my email advertising that their extra 70% off on clearance sale has been extended, with code: FLASH70! Here are my Top 5 stylish suggestions to add to your summer wardrobe arsenal!

First, to get the most out of your maxi skirts & linen shorts before the heat dies down, a feminine cami in a neutral or bold hue coordinates well for a night on the boardwalk or afternoon party. Additionally, the cami is a staple piece for under a blazer, low-cut sweater, or cardigan when opting for luxe layers.

SHOP: scalloped cami top, limited availability in sizes 00-20 & 9 colors / patterns, priced: $9.00-$15.00 after code: FLASH70.

Next, two of my favorite summer trends are combined with the tank below. I love a playful pattern, but also a smocked effect because stretch is a friend, especially across the bustline. The peplum & shoulder-tie details add to the whimsy of this tank, especially when paired with cropped jeans & wedges or cut-off shorts & slide sandals.

SHOP: smocked tie-shoulder tank top, limited availability in sizes XS-3X & 5 colors / patterns, priced: $9.00 after code: FLASH70.

Additionally, basic isn’t always bad, especially when a tiered dress like this can be dressed up with a statement necklace, woven belt, wedges & a clutch when headed to a waterfront dinner or with some metallic flip flops & floppy hat for running errancds.

SHOP: sleeveless knit tiered mini dress, limited availability in sizes XXS-3X & 4 colors / patterns, priced: $5.10-$10.50 after code: FLASH70.

Also, footwear for summer shouldn’t be bland, especially when fun & flirty patterns can be mixed & matched. For example, a printed slide can work with a printed top, as in the stripes can play well against polka dots & the palm print would highlight colorblocking too!

SHOP: printed knot slide sandals, limited availability in sizes 5-12 & 3 patterns, priced: $16.50 after code: FLASH70.

Finally, during the hottest days of the summer, I try to keep jewelry to a minimum, unless I’m at work, which is why these colorful necklaces are fashionable options to wear with a blouse-pencil-skirt-cardigan combination or printed suit with embellished flats.

SHOP: enamel link statement necklace, limited availability in 3 colors, priced: $9.00 after code: FLASH70. Check out the matching earrings & bracelet here!

Show Me the Shoes: $8 Sandals Going Fast!

Right now is the best time to shop for summer’s trendiest & most stylish pieces, from tops to dresses & shorts to accessories. It seems like everything is on sale everywhere & fall is just around the retail corner. Additionally, I was in a local Walmart Superstore today with my family when I came across a can’t-miss deal on Time & Tru’s multi-band slide sandal marked down to $8.00 from $14.98!

I tried on a pair, although I didn’t end up buying the great deal. They are comfortable & definitely soft, but I’m, personally, not a fan of slides. However, I’d definitely recommend these to coordinate with a multitude of stylish summer looks, including a tee & pair of shorts, print Ed romper, headed to the beach with a sarong, maxi or midi dress, & button-down with cropped jeans.

SHOP: Time & Tru multi-band slide sandal in white, black, mint, & blush (available in sizes 6-11, $8.00) @Walmart.

I’m a fan of the color variety here, especially when a mint shoe isn’t usually a choice. However, I’d recommend checking your local Walmart stores for the color(s) & size you need since online availability is limited.

How would you style these flats? Which color is your favorite? Have you been shopping the slide sandal trend this season? Are you stocking up on end-of-the-summer deals now? Show Me the Shoes: Studded Sandals from Macy’s for Under $30!

Details matter, especially on footwear. I love to contrast my flowery, feminine outfit with some metallic flare on my heels or play with a dark dramatic look against an unexpected pattern on my flats. However, for summer, when the toes are out & I’m all about sandals, I love the studded look for any casual outfit or maxi dress. A metallic stud in silver or gold instantly makes a jelly or PVC material sandals more elegant & definitely on-trend. Check out the below options from Macy’s, currently on sale for under $30!

SHOP: Madden Girl Candy Studded Strappy Footbed Sandals in clear, black, or light tan (available in sizes 5.5-8.5, on sale: $22.95 with coupon: JULY) @Macy’s.

SHOP: INC International Concepts Ellie Jelly Flat Sandals in nude stud or black stud (available in sizes 5-11, on sale: $19.75) @Macy’s.

SHOP: XOXO Jaylani Beachy Modern Sandals in nude or black (available in sizes 6-10, on sale: $19.99) @Macy’s.

SHOP NOW: A Versatile Ruffle Blouse for Work & Play!

I’m guilty of being that “buy one in every color” shopper, as per my previous goddess dress post, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing because it makes picking out my day-to-day wardrobe seamless between family gatherings, prepping for class, heading into the office, or meeting up with friends. My latest obsession is ruffle button-front blouse from New York & Company, ranging in sizes XS-XXL. It’s currently on sale, ranging in price between $18.00-$26.97, depending on which coupon code you use & what your form of payment is; however, I like a top that I can wear with different bottoms, but also for different occasions.

The blouse is available in 3 solid hues: black, hazelnut latte, & pink garland, but my eye is on the flame orange leopard & multi color snake prints, which will pair well with any of the following items:

SHOP: 1. high-waisted linen-blend shorts in cerignola @Old Navy (available in sizes XS-4XL, sale: $18.00), 2. woven-textured crisscross sandals in natural stripe @Old Navy (available in sizes 6-11, sale: $16.00), 3. braided ankle strap sandals in natural @Walmart (available in sizes 6-11, $10.00), 4. The $100 Challenge: #OOTD in Green from H&M!

In today’s world, it’s actually not hard to find comfortable, stylish clothing, what with the coziness of loungewear still on everyone’s mind during lockdown; however, the world is changing, & it’s time to marry the comfort with the glam, especially when it comes to budget fashion. Today’s post is all about getting an entire look for under $100, which is exactly what I was able to put together with these stylish, neutral, & versatile pieces from H&M for a total of $85.95 (before taxes & any shipping fees), including:

SHOP: 1. cotton jersey dress in green (available in sizes XS-XXL, $24.99), 2. heart-shaped earrings in gold-coloured ($9.99), 3. metal-buckle waist belt in light beige (available in sizes XS-XXL, $17.99), 4. crossbody bag in beige ($19.99), & 5. slides in beige ($12.99).

The dress is also available in black, dark taupe, & light beige, which means that the styling possibilities are endless, especially with the slides & crossbody bag also made in black. If you like a billowy silhouette, you can ditch the belt or go for something more natural in a straw or basketweave, or even add a floppy hat & go for gladiator sandals with this look.

07/06/2022 Darling of the Day: Keira Knightley’s Summer French Girl Chanel LBD at Paris Fashion Week!

Two-time Academy Award nominee & Chanel ambassador Keira Knightley hit Paris Fashion Week‘s Chanel Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2022 Runway, sitting front row in a French-girl-chic little black dress by, none other than, Chanel.

Her return to spotlight is long overdue & demonstrates her consistent triumphant style, grace, & polish as she turned heads in an unlikely summer combination of velvet & Mary Jane heels (shop similar here). However, Keira nails the look, especially with bumper sunglasses (shop similar here), a quilted clutch (shop similar here), & elegant rings (shop here & here). See the photos below of Keira’s exquisite style, alongside her husband, James Righton, to inspire your next summer LBD outing.

Even though summer is a season all about colors & patterns, a little black dress for a variety of occasions is a timeless wardrobe staple, including these more affordable options to help a Style Darling live your best French-girl fantasy, whether you’re headed to a cocktail party, wedding, weekend brunch, or somewhere fabulous & fashionable.

SHOP: 1. Gabrielle Union faux leather fringe dress in black @New York & Company (available in sizes XS-XXL, sale: $38.98), 2. satin mini cowl neck slip dress in black @ELOQUII (available in sizes 14-28, $99.95), 3. velvet lace dress in black @Venus (available in sizes 2-24, $89.00), 4. button v-neck dress in black @LOFT (available in sizes 00-14, sale: $79.99), 5. And Now This cotton cutout one-shoulder dress in black @Macy’s (available in sizes XS-XL, sale: $41.30), & 6. allover lace midi dress in black @Express (available in sizes XS-XL, sale: $59.00).

Additionally, an LBD doesn’t necessarily demand coordinating black shoes, especially as seen on Keira wearing beige & black Mary Janes, but this season, black sandals come in a variety of strappy & mule styles that elevate any ensemble. Here are some suggestions:

Show Me the Shoes: Summer’s Perfect Laser Cut Ballet Flats!

If you’re the type of shopper to buy one of each (insert stylish vice here–mine are many!) in every color, then Ardene‘s Laser Cut Pattern Ballet Flats (sale: $10.43), where available in sizes 6-10, are the shoe for you! I recently bought the purple, yellow, & brown since I already have very similar black & white laser cut flats from previous years; however, this is a class summer style that will never go out of fashion.

I love the possibility of wearing any of these for any weekend family event, with a maxi dress & rose gold sunglasses, paired with tropic shorts & a bold tee, as well as for a concert or day of running errands. I love that I can feel my feet breathing, so to speak, & the fact that these shoes include a subtle cushion for my arch, offering support as I’m on the go, which isn’t always present in fast fashion flats.

Since this style is currently on sale for such a bargain-can’t-miss price, I might just go ahead & grade an extra pair of black & white flats to store for future seasons. However, my only wish is that these were also available in other pastel & neon hues, like a pistachio, powder blue, hot pink, or aqua. Perhaps, that would only fuel more of my penchant for variety.

How would you style these flats? Which colors are your favorites? What features do you look for in ballet flats? Do you prefer a laser cut pattern or a different style toe? Flip for Old Navy’s Flip Flops & Stylish Summer Footwear!

Last summer, when my husband & I were planning our wedding, we included a basket of flip flops to give to our guests for those with tired feet after all the dancing & partying at our reception. Of course, we turned to Old Navy for comfortable, affordable, & colorful flip flops in bulk (& we couldn’t resist buying a few pairs for ourselves too). This summer, Old Navy continues its flip flop legacy with so many fashionable varieties, which brings us to today’s post!

Quickie Darling Deal & Steal: Steve Madden Markdowns for $34.99!

I haven’t had a chance to visit Steve Madden lately, so in my shoe-loving craze during the conference, I knew I had to find a few minutes to go on the hunt for some affordable summer shoes.  Of course, you’re gonna start seeing all the new fall arrivals, which I love b/c that means that my birthday is coming up! However, end-of-the-season deals are very tangible & can completely change your wardrobe when you least expect it!

Check out these Onasiss peep toe slingback cork heels ($34.99), available in both multi & natural & marked down from their original $109.95 price tag.  Neutrals are great to keep around for those wildly printed dresses or when you want to soften a brightly-hued skirt, but I always recommend to go bold when it comes to shoes.  You’d be surprised how a multi color pattern like this one can really work for your wardrobe.  Break these out with a pair of skinny jeans & silky tank, or get ready for some dancing in a flowy summer dress.

What end-of-the-season deals are you looking for right now? Are you a shoe gal? Can you find these for an even better price? Happy Styling!

Inside A Style Blogger’s Closet: Spring Cleaning (Better Late Than Never)!

The time for spring cleaning came around a little late for me, considering that I’ve been super busy with my new job.  However, this weekend I was able to torture myself with the big spring-summer closet switch, which is usually a day-long process. To some bloggers out there, this may seem like a horrible mess of clutter & packed in boxes/hangers, but this is what I have & I’m making the best of it.  I was happy to reunite with old friends (summer shoes & dresses)- some of which (the dresses) were unfortunately too big for me, since I have fortunately lost nearly 30 pounds in the last 2(ish) years.  I’m making due with the wardrobe that I have since there’s just no way for me to spend any extra dough refurbishing some of these baggier items.  I’m getting friendlier with my belts everyday, seeing how well they can cinch me in & transform a once-tight tunic top into a flowy loose-fititng blouse.

Since the weight loss, I have officially dropped a dress size & am happy to save up more money while my waistline is shrinking.  Although I’m fearful of what will happen by the time the fall & winter roll around… will any of my favorites still fit? A close friend & former co-worker of mine has said in the past- “No matter how much weight you lose, your shoes always fit!” At least I’ll have them!

To check out my previous closet pic, check out this link from Inside A Style Blogger’s Closet! Happy Styling!

Quickie Darling Deal & Steal: White House Black Market’s Summer Shoes On Sale!

If you have a spare $34.99 laying around & also need to spruce up your shoe collection this season, then head over to one of my favorite stores of all time- White House Black Market! While clicking through the sale items, I found these four amazing pairs of shoes that instantly made me want to style them with some of my versatile summer dresses.  The mixture of textures, neutral & bold color combinations, as well as classic femininity in each shoe makes for a perfect pairing with virtually any spring-summer look.  Take these shoes with you on vacation, on a date, or to the office for some fun, fashion, & unforgettable glamour.

First off, the exotic peep toe heel ($34.99) is a timeless blend of Old Hollywood meets New Hollywood.  The faux snake texture is perfect to match against florals or polka dots, or simply with a chic LBD.  Mixing textures also means trying new heels, but a wedge is always the best stand-by for support.  I love the exotic cork-wrapped wedge ($34.99) which enhances the neutrality of this look.  I’d recommend wearing this shoe with a jersey wrap dress or button-down shirt dress.

What’s a blog about WHBM without posting a black & white shoe?! The striped peep toe heel ($34.99) is just what you need to get that vintage Grace Kelly look with a belted summer dress. If only they had my size, I’d be reeling to match this with a white eyelet frock, or my best bold sheath dress.  Since the retailer does add some pops of color into their designs from season-to-season, it’s only natural that tangerine had made the cut.  The sunset faux croco heel ($34.99) is not just a vibrant splash of life to your shoe collection, but a sexy & flirty addition sure to turn some heads.  This hue is perfect for interchanging with navy, plum, chocolate, or lime.

Which shoes are your favorites from WHBM? What styles are you shopping for this season? For more of the best deals this season, click around on Quickie Darling Deal & Steal! Not to mention that this marks the 100th post in the category that’s all about style-on-a-budget! Just b/c it’s affordable, it doesn’t mean that it’s not fabulous! Happy Styling!
