The black houndstooth that we all love to wear with more subdued solids is brightened with more than white as we see bright yellows, kelly green, & even magenta to experiment with this fashion forward menswear-inspired print. I’ve selected a few tops, bottoms, & shoes that are my favorites to recommend anyone who dares to be bold with this striking pattern.

First, I love the combination of houndstooth on these tops with the details over a trimmed neckline, neck-tie bow, & solid collar, which are perfect to match with a pencil skirt & pumps, joggers & ankle boots, or jeans & ballet flats.

The actress, & new mom, is a style star on the red carpet, for sure, but the success of her fashion choices is, in part, to her bombshell & edgy hair styles, as well as her gorgeous & flawless beauty looks at a variety of occasions, including major awards shows, film premieres, film festivals, & photo calls. The Kentucky native’s look has changed since her big break in 2010’s Winter’s Bone, especially with long dirty blonde locks, a more dramatic darker mane (like in Silver Lining’s Playbook & The Hunger Games), as well as a layered blonde bob. Additionally, the Mother! actress typically opts for a smoky eye, but often plays up her lips in a dark berry, bright red, or candy pink tone.

While there are so many fabulous & swoon-worthy red carpet gowns to post about, a suit or pant look is a modern, daring, & stylish take on representing one’s self, as well as appearing professional with an edge. Case in point: model / actress Cara Delevingne (currently on the second season of Only Murders in the Building) celebrates her 30th birthday today & I can’t think of anyone more fashionable who pulls off suit & pants looks with more polish & punk than her.

The Paper Towns star often coordinates her pants with lace or cut-out blouses, crop tops, no top at all, corsets or body paint, decadent jewelry, strappy shoes, or towering heels. She’s the most rock & roll model / actress on the red carpet today & I can’t wait to see what she does next: in her career & with her androgynous style.

During a recent black hole viewing of Instagram stories (I’m not the only one, am I?), I came across a blogger sharing their interpretation for summer-to-fall teacher outfits, including A New Day’s high-rise slim straight pull-on pants @Target ($25.00, available in sizes XS-4X). There are 2 qualities about these pants that I loved right away: 1. They’re pull-on. Ever since I’ve had my daughter, pants with zippers are the enemy & pull-on pants are my loyal subjects! 2. They’re available in 8 neutral, professional colors / patterns.

The variety includes navy (windowpane), black pinstriped, gray (plaid), gray (& black/purple houndstooth), cream, green, brown, & black. So far, I’ve ordered all, except the black because they weren’t available in my size, & I’ve received the navy & gray houndstooth. They’re very comfortable & run true to size. I love the length (being that I’m 5’3″).

For a professional day, they will pair nicely with a blouse-cardigan-ballet flat combination or a short sleeve sweater & statement necklace with mule heels. I’d love to style these pants for more than just work though. When headed somewhere more casual, I can see pairing the solid options with a dolman top & sandals or a printed tee & wedges. Aside from Olivia’s remarkable stage & big screen talents, she remains one of fashion’s most underrated & timeless icons, especially after such a long career that endured through many decades of fashion risks, frills, & hairstyles!

Whether Olivia was channeling the mod looks of the 60s, bell-bottoms & peasant dresses of the 70s, pastels & sparkle in the 80s, or tailored menswear inspiration, Olivia’s style has inspired even today’s trendsetters & entertainers. Top A-listers are appearing in all-pink for red carpet events, major fashion shows, & all over social media every. single. day. Additionally, pink is popping up on runways & go-to retailers to take a not-pink-enough world by storm!

It’s been a few days now that Facebook has been showing me sponsored posts about Betsey Johnson‘s Vandi pumps & each time I spot them, I take a moment to admire their femininity & flair. I usually get annoyed by sponsored posts (because I don’t like how social media tracks when I’m searching & then it appears EVERYWHERE). However, in this case, I haven’t searched the brand, nor have I been seeking out strappy high sandals like these, but I find them downright delightful & lovely.

My Favorite Sequin Sweater This Season!

As I was gearing up to go back to work this fall, I’d been collecting gift cards from the summer & my birthday to prepare me for some new fall favorites & holiday must-haves. This includes the sequin sweater @dressbarn (shop plus size here). I ordered this sweater online & was actually surprised how soft it felt, how comfortably it fit, & just how pretty the sequin detail is on the cozy gray background.

While I’m all about the big statement necklace lately, I know I can rely on this sweater to do all the sparkling for me if I need something festive quickly. I have a multicolor pair of Kate Spade confetti stud earrings I’m waiting to pair with this sweater for either a glitzy weekend look with leggings & knee boots, or even to my office holiday party with a pencil skirt & embellished ballet flats. Because of the neutral gray background & variety of color in the sequins, the styling possibilities are endless!
