SHOP NOW! The Only Navy Heels You’ll Ever Need!

For this summer, I’ll admit that my shoe game isn’t always the win that it could be, mostly because I’m always on the go, whether I’m headed to work, hitting up a local festival, & running errands, all while beating the heat. I’ve stuck to my favorite ballet flats, flip-flops, & most sparkling sandal flats, saving my high heels & wedges for only the most very special of occasions. This means that I haven’t made good use out of all my heels this summer (I’m nodding a bit in style shame), but comfort is also such a big deal because I’d never want how my feet feel to dictate if I’m having a good time while out with my beau or working the day away. With this, there’s one thing I can’t deny—a shoe sale!

That brings me to the Taylor cut-out tie heels @dressbarn in navy. I have the blush pair, which were such a big hit when I wore them this spring (though quantities are now very slim fr the paler neutral). I had no idea that the heels also came in a navy—a tricky color for those all-blue looks when you just don’t know what to wear since navy is uncommon, as opposed to a go-to black option. I love that these heels (originally $45 & now they’re only $14.99 on sale!) are so feminine & fancy, while also lending a modern edge when matched with a fit & flare dress, blouse & skinny jeans, or graphic tee & denim skirt. Like I always say, “Oh the styling possibilities!

Keep in mind that this time of year is one of the best to shop for in-season sale items, especially when there are so many coupons available (don’t delete those emails!) to get you some extra discounts on stylish finds, just like these heels! While all the fall goodies are hitting the racks, retailers are marking down perfectly wearable summer pieces (though varieties & sizes might be limited) that can elevate your summer style with bargain-priced shoes, a statement necklace, flirty shirt dress, or an on-trend, off the shoulder top.

Where are you shopping for you best seasonal sale items? Would you wear these navy heels? Do you like the lace-up cut-out trend on footwear? What’s your end of the summer shopping budget? Inside A Style Blogger’s Closet: My First Day of Spring Outfit!

For at least a good three weeks, I’ve been ready for spring. Here on Long Island, the weather has been so wishy-washy where there’d be an amazing sunny, spring-like day in the 60s, followed by a major yucky blizzard. This happened more than once recently too! My wardrobe has been feeling super bipolar as I’ve been wanting to wear lighter & softer pieces in pastels or florals, but there’s still a need for cozy layers to stay warm, especially since it’s been pretty chilly early in the morning… which brings me to today’s outfit. I don’t normally post a whole outfit that I’ve worn, partially because I don’t have access to a photographer (I live alone) on a daily basis. I’m lucky that my friends & coworkers at both of my jobs can spare a few minutes to indulge my style fancies & help me out with some spur-of-the-moment pics while on the clock, hence the sporadic sharing of whole outfit posts on my Instagram account (@MissAlissaL).

I absolutely love this floral fit-and-flare scuba skirt. It’s a style that I’ve been having a lot of fun with since last fall, one that’s perfect for tucking in with various tops, cinching in my waist & playing up a retro & ladylike vibe with modern flare. I’ve thought about styling this particular skirt in so may ways, pairing it with the different colors in the print, as well as with sparkly accessories. I’ve had the sheer dotted sweater in black (both pieces from @dressbarn) that I hadn’t worn yet. When I saw the two together, the sweater added just enough feminine detail at the neckline to counter the softness of the skirt without being too overpoweringly dark & black at the same time.

The accessories that I’m wearing in the picture above are no longer available (because I’ve had them each for quite some time now), but it’s easy to recreate a similar spring style with affordable look-alike coordinating statement jewelry, polished footwear, & a thin neutral belt.

SHOP: floral statement necklace @Forever 21, Fola bib necklace @Charming Charlie, flower stud earrings @Francesca’s, & glitter stone drop earrings @Icing.

SHOP: gold trim platform peep toe pumps @Charlotte Russe, patent D’Orsay pumps @Old Navy, snake pointed toe flats @Express, & Hope chopout mid heel @Payless

SHOP: bow belt @Target, skinny mint belt @Lulu’s, gold snake belt @H&M, & black braided belt @JCPenney

What spring trends are you excited to wear this season? What pastel colors do you love? Which accessories do you build your outfit around? Happy Styling!

07/17/2015 Darling of the Day: 5 Ways to Wear Chrissy Teigen’s Summer Menswear Separates!

Chrissy Teigen is winning the internet right now & why shouldn’t she be? The model / TV personality is all things gorgeous & brilliant with her impeccable style, legs for days, & eff-you sense of humor- no wonder hubby John Legend keeps writing songs about her! However, Style Darling is posting today to share Chrissy’s effortless menswear-inspired separates that she’s been sporting this summer (& last year too!). Like most curvy girls, I’m a little skeptical about wearing shorts, but reinterpreting Chrissy’s shorts + blazer + heels style seems to be a feasible possibility. I’ve scoured the web to find affordable separates to recreate her looks in 5 interchangeable & fashionable ways!

Also in 2014, Chrissy wasn’t afraid of playing with texture in leather shorts by Halogen with an ASOS blazer, Givenchy bag, Express necklace, & black pointed toe pumps. Then, she combined a white tee with denim cut-offs & an ivory double-breasted blazer with a taupe fedora, studded white purse, & neutral mules. For the Cannes Film Festival, Chrissy was carefree in white shorts with a plunging top, blush blazer, ankle strap sandals, & sunglasses.

Black Friday Sale Update: 30-50% Off Shoes, Sandals, Boots, & Handbags @ALDO!

I’ve been searching plenty of websites for the best outfits at the most affordable prices, but I haven’t forgotten about my love for footwear.  Once I checked out what was going on @ALDO shoes, I knew I had to share the latest markdowns for the Black Friday sale. There’s always a good reason to buy shoes on sale, including some sensible flats for the office, sexy pumps for a date night, & chic boots for a casual day of shopping with the girls.

The Patrin flats ($17.49) in cognac are the perfect way to finish off a belted sweater dress look with tights & they’re also sold in blue & fuchsia. Also, for a glitter glitz & glam, I love the Nottingham flats ($9.99) in blue, which will compliment any leather skirt & embellished blouse look.  For a more utilitarian look, I recommend the Mandina boot ($38.49) with skinny jeans & a plaid button-down. The sleek Sperow heels ($32.49) are ideal for sporting the cap toe trend with the contrasting texture, but they’ll also make any LBD look all the more fierce, especially when worn with textured tights.

Next is the Jonquiere heels ($32.49) with a classic platform for elongating the legline. Match these with a polka dot dress or a sleek red number & you’ll really be making an entrance.  The Korsen bootie ($39.99) plays with colorblocking, adding an unexpected twist with the regal cobalt & bright turquoise.  The feminine Laesser flats ($14.99) are a gorgeous pairing with a slipdress & boyfriend blazer for an effortless night out on the town.

Which shoes are your favorites? Would you buy your BFF a pair of shoes for the holidays? Happy Styling!

The Stylish Five: Killer Heels From GOjane ($20 & Under)!

I feel like it’s been a while since I focused on shoes.  Part of what I love about shoes is that they always make your outfit look good!  I’m about to do my big seasonal closet switch, where I’ll rediscover some “old sole” friends who I haven’t seen since the end of last winter. I’m most excited about doing this b/c perhaps I may be able to make room for some more new friends if I make a few bags of clothes & shoes for donations.

I recently received an email from GOjane that shared news of their latest sale- footwear marked down up to 67% off!  That’s a whole lot of savings right there!  I love this site b/c it various designs of shoes for every style.  You can get girly with bows, walk fierce with strappy sandals, make a statement in peep toes, & the list goes on!  Here I’ve picked some of my favorite for The Stylish Five, all under $20!

First we have the strappy side floral print pump ($19.95) in orange, originally priced at $26.95.  They’re flashy enough to bring out the wow factor in a pair of high waist trouser jeans & a 70s inspired knotted blouse.  The color & print may throw off some shoppers, but it’s a pair of shoes unlike anything else that you’ll see on the street.  If you’re not an orange gal, they’re also available in blue too! Next is my favorite pair of the bunch, in dark green the pleated bow front pump ($15.95).  They have a staggering 5.25″ heel, but make for the perfect finish to a black sheath dress with gold deco jewelry.  The color is so on trend for fall & the price is perfectly reduced from $27.95!

If you’re into texture & detail like me, then the ruffled velvet heel ($14.95) in sand is a must-have!  They offer just enough coverage that can be worn with tights & a pair of dressy shorts this fall.  This shoe selection is very strap-happy, especially with the cross strap leatherette platforms ($13.95) which lend a little bit of an urban feel to something soft like a tiered chiffon mini dress or skinny pants & a metallic top.  They’re marked down a whopping 37% from their original price of $22.20 & can be worn throughout the year! Lastly, I picked the espadrille strap slingback platform ($12.95) that can transform a day look into something evening-ready.  The 4.75″ heel will elongate your legline & give any sweater dress & leggings look a whole new life!

I know this season is all about boots, but you can help reboot next year’s wardrobe with a few discounted finds right now!  What do you think of these styles? Quickie Darling Deal & Steal: Affordable Animal-Inspired Accessories!

There’s nothing that I love more in an accessory than a pop of animal inspiration!  Personally, I’m a big fan od zebra print, having always been pro-black-&-white in my style.  However, the spectrum of animal print doesn’t stop there since we have leopard, cheetah, croc, & snake prints to bring out the style in our basic items.

First let’s talk shoes… hands down, the boldest of my choices is this blue platform heel from Charlotte Russe for $35.50.  It does border on tacky, but you’re not likely to run into anyone else at a cocktail party wearing them!  They’re wild to pair with a metallic mini dress or even show off with a pair of jeans & silk top.  Something to keep in mind while shopping the shoes @Charlotte Russe is that they’re always having promotions for shoes, like BOGO $10 or $15.  That’s when getting the zebra slingbacks comes in handy so that you’re saving a bunch of money since they cost $40.00!

If you’re looking for something more moderate when it comes to an animal-inspired shoes, take a look at the scrunchy cheetah flats for $15.80 @Forever 21.  They’re darling for a tunic top & leggings or to wearing with skinny jeans & a babydoll top on a casual day.  Another fierce option would be the leopard peep toe cone pumps for $22.80, & cone pumps are very on-trend for fall.  There’s something vintage about them, yet they’re still cute enough to wear with a pencil skirt & button-down shirt.

For fall, I’m also currently obsessed with scarves & can’t wait to layer them over tanks & short-sleeved cardigans at night when the summer weather turns cooler!  The first of my scarf choices is the multi-print scarf from The Limited, but is no longer available!  I had picked this item out a few days ago for $16.99, but my heart has broken b/c I was sooo close to ordering it!  The combination of leopard & polka dot just screamed chic & would’ve paired so well with an all-black ensemble! However, the leopard scarf is available @Payless for $12.99.  It would look so great with a neutral wrap dress or against a black romper.

In the middle, I have three belts picked out, which make for the best finishing touch on a look where you want to show off your figure.  The Material Girl belt duo in pink & taupe is no longer available @Macy’s.  Sad face.  Although, you can do very well with the leopard & black skinny belts from Payless for $12.99, especially since the store is currently having their BOGO 50% promotion!  If you wanna find something a little thicker, try the animal tab stretch belt by Style & Co. @Macy’s for $19.98.

You can’t talk about accessories & not show some bags.  The patchwork shopper is from Payless for $26.99, available in Black / Gray & Brown / Tan.  The combination of exotic prints & the chain strap add some luxury.  Not to mention that it’s also super spacious to put your iPad, cell phone, & other goodies in!  I have been talking about Target a lot lately & looooove this snake print clutch wallet for $19.99.  It’s looks like chic enough to be an evening clutch, but can always be used on a daily basis as your very sassy wallet.  It’s multiple sections inside are perfect for helping to organize your bills & shopping expeditions!

Last, but not least, I have some jewelry pics.  This includes the pink snake embossed bangle from White House Black Market for $34.o0.  It’s just enough print to go with a floral sun dress,  Right now the store is having a sale that you can’t miss: All jewelry is BOGO 25% off!  So while you’re there, try the zebra drop hoop earrings which are marked down to $13.99 from $20.00!

What are your favorite animal print accessories?  For more inspiration, check out how celebrities like  Megan Fox, Rachel Bilson, Julia Roberts, Diane Kruger, Rihanna, & Eva Longoria sport animal-inspired accessories on the red carpet & when they’re out & about!  Happy Styling!
