While I’m a major fan of the glorious ballgown on a red carpet, I’m always fascinated to study the non-traditional choices, which are becoming more & more the norm, including short dresses & pants / jumpsuits / tuxedos on female attendees. There are so many lists & galleries on social media & the internet recalling the best Golden Globe looks of all time, as well as the most extreme. However, let’s take some time to review the non-traditional, which are likely to appear on tonight’s red carpet for the highly-anticipated return of the controversial awards ceremony.
From mini to midi dresses, the red carpet is no stranger to short designs with some sparkle, structure, or volume, especially when making an elegant, playful style statement:
Pants looks come in all forms, on a deconstructed tuxedo, jumpsuit, & suit, imitating the dress look, but also playing with cut-outs, adornments, separates, & proportions. Black is the most popular option with a pants look, as seen below:
The internet is still a-flutter with style & beauty inspiration from this week’s 74th Emmy Awards, where the stars sparkled from head to toe in the most fashionable & elegant gowns. However, the jewelry selections & beauty choices stole the spotlights on the red carpet & stage. Decked out in the expensive, luxury duds, A-listers went all out with statement earrings, bright baubles, timeless bracelets, & fierce rings, along with classic updos & breezy tresses. Take a look through the gallery below for a closet view of celebrity’s jewels & bobs from the night:
Four-time Emmy winner Maya Rudolph may be known for her comedy chops & charm, but over the course of her 20+-year career, Maya’s evolving style is something to marvel at as she’s fearless with colors, patterns, & textures. The actress & mother of four may make some seemingly unconventional choices, but her bold desire to be herself is cause for style celebration for her 50th birthday!
No silhouette, ruffle, fringe, or sequin is forbidden on Maya, & nor should it be as she schools us all on the fact that grace, flare, & style have are timeless!
Barbiecore? That’s a thing? you ask? Well, yes. Hot pink fashion is super hot right now, not only because of recently released photos of Margot Robbie in the upcoming Barbie movie, but because it’s the summer of fun, feminine, flirty, & fierce fashion! Top A-listers are appearing in all-pink for red carpet events, major fashion shows, & all over social media every. single. day. Additionally, pink is popping up on runways & go-to retailers to take a not-pink-enough world by storm!
Finally, memorable red carpet appearances popping with Barbiecore include model Gigi Hadiat Prince’s Trust Gala, both artist Saweetie & actor Billy Porter at the Grammy Awards, actress / talk show host Drew Barrymore at the Daytime Emmy Awards, & actress Lana Condor at the MTV Movie & TV Awards.

If there’s any celebrity wardrobe, for their red carpet looks & street style, that I’d want to steal, it’s Modern Family actress Sofia Vergara’s…EVERYTHING! She’s confident, feminine, sultry, & glam ALL. THE. TIME.
In honor of her 50th birthday today, let’s take a walk down style memory lane for the fashion designer, America’s Got Talentjudge, & four-time Emmy-nominee’s best red carpet & street style appearances, celebrating her favorite go-to trends, including a mermaid gown, sweetheart or strapless neckline, peplum details, dramatic jewels, towering platforms, regal sparkles, cut-off denim, gorgeous day dresses, & effortless poise. Not to mention, her megawatt smile.
The news that actress Cameron Diaz is coming out of retirement to join Jamie Foxx in the new feature film, Back in Action, for the first time in eight years has me very nostalgic for the movie star style that inspired me to begin Style Darling Daily over a decade ago. If you haven’t seen My Best Friend’s Wedding, The Mask, There’s Something About Mary, Charlie’s Angels, any of the Shrek movies, or The Holiday, then you’re missing out on some 90s-00s film gold for the entertainment & charm that Cameron serves up on screen. Hence, why the blogosphere is in a tizzy over her highly-anticipated big screen return.
In addition the aforementioned films, the four-time Golden Globe-nominated star & best-selling author was once a red carpet regular, but an international superstar of the silver screen, not only wearing the chicest designers to events, like the Academy Awards, but also for her California-girl appeal, elevating mini dresses for glamorous movie premieres & other photo-worthy occasions. Check out the slideshow & gallery below for over 60 images that prove Cameron rules the red carpet & will continue to do so when she makes her return to Hollywood:
As Marvel fans breathlessly await the world premiere of Thor: Love & Thunder, the film’s female stars, Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson, & Pom Klementieff, hit the blue carpet to promote the action movie in the UK, along with director Taika Waititi, his girlfriend, singer, Rita Ora, & athlete Serena Williams, all of whom killed it when it comes to top shelf style.
However, it’s Natalie’s red mini Dior dress & flower crown, along with Tessa’s golden fringe dress by Oscar de la Renta that were not only the talk of London, but also currently the internet! Additionally, Rita’s shimmery & dazzling Elie Saab gown was a showstopper, as well as Pom’s edgy, biker-inspired Alexander McQueen frock.

Last night’s BET Awards honored the achievements of black musicians from the past year, but were not without fanfare & glamour on the red carpet, using the awards platform for both style statements and vital political messages. Some of the red carpet highlights include Lizzowearing a glittery navy Gucci gown, along with Taraji P. Henson in a striking, silver Tom Ford design, Chloe Bailey stunning in a Nicholas Jebran swirly look, Cynthia Erivo turning heads in a multicolor Louis Vuitton ensemble, Janelle Monae‘s transparent Roberto Cavalli gown, Lena Waithe in a pastel Casablanca suit, Halle Bailey‘s plunging Monot dress, Paula Patton in a magenta mini, & Marsai Martin in a custom Dolce & Gabbana flapper-inspired dress.
