Red Carpet Review: The Glamorous 2023 Critics Choice Awards, Including Amanda Seyfried, Janelle Monae, Stephanie Hsu, & More!

Tonight’s Critics Choice Awards bring us one step closer to the climax of awards season for film, but this particular ceremony includes stars of both the big screen & small screen to unite & celebrate their talent, accomplishments, & of course fashion! There were so many trends of the night, continuing the glitz that we saw last weekend at the Golden Globe Awards, including dramatic metallic gown, classic black dresses with cut-outs, neutral / champagne tones, midi-length designs, variations on the naked dress, bold pops of color, & multicolored dresses.

Some of my favorites of the night include Abbott Elementary actress Sheryl Lee Ralph–who arrived in what I like to call “a winner’s dress” by Jovana Louis, Glass Onion star Kate Hudson‘s silver sheer halter gown by Oscar de la Renta, Pam & Tommy nominee Lily James modernizing another Old Hollywood look by Oscar de la Renta, The Whale‘s Sadie Sink in a youthful Chanel frock, host Chelsea Handler in a chic orange Maticevski design, along with Everything Everywhere All at One supporting actress Stephanie Hsu in a classic tangerine Valentino gown, Niecy Nash-Betts shimmering in a Jason Wu confection, & the always glamorous Angela Bassett in a black velvet Christian Siriano design (& she nabbed another award for her gripping performance in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever). Cover Craze: Adele’s Glorious Comeback & Style for ELLE’s September 2022 Issue!

When Adele sings, talks, poses for a photo shoot, & posts on Instagram, the world stops & for good reason! ELLE knows this, which is why the 15-time Grammy winner is featured on the coveted September issue cover in all of her diva glory, beauty, & style. In the article, written by Emma Carmichael & photographed by Mario Sorrenti, Adele discusses the heartbreak behind cancelling her Las Vegas residency, being a mother to her 9-year-old son Angelo, the authenticity of her performances, her continued excitement to share her recent album 30 with audiences, & her relationship with sports agent Rich Paul.

Additionally, the gorgeous shots of the British singer/songwriter, styled by George Cortina, include fashionable pieces from Pologeorgis, Fendi, Cartier, Falke, Celine by Hedi Slimane, Givenchy, Marc Jacobs, Fogal, Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello, Loro Piana, Agent Provocateur, Aliétte, Courrèges, Levi’s, & Artemas Quibble.

For her show in London earlier this year, Adele recounts the audience’s response to her hit ballad “Someone Like You,” stating, “I wrote that on my own, in my little tiny flat, when I was 21…The fact that they all still remember the words and love the song, it was just incredible.” Also, the singer cherishes & still learns from the early days of her career to keep her grounded, sharing, “I remember writing 19 very, very much, and going from the studio to meet my friends at the pub. I remember getting on the Tube and going to every meeting I had, and I remember going to after-parties of my friends’ little gigs. I remember all of those things, and I remember all of the first times I did something. I remember them even when I’m doing them for the millionth time.”

Are you a fan of Adele’s album 30? What do you think of ELLE‘s cover shoot with the “I Drink Wine” songstress? What kind of songs do you want to hear from Adele next? Would you attend her concerts? Cover Craze: The Crown’s Emma Corrin Stars on Vogue’s August 2022 Issue!

As the recent covers of fashion publications get more & more glamorous, readers are also served plentiful substance concerning diversity & culture-conscious topics since the language of fashion encompasses all identities. This is why Vogue‘s August 2022 issue, featuring Golden Globe-winner, Emma Corrin (they/them), is such a milestone for LGBTQ+ visibility & an opportunity to explore the fluidity of fashion. Emma is the first openly non-binary cover star for the magazine, embracing both fashion & body hair their way—unapologetically!

In the article, written by Emma Spector, photographed by Jamie Hawkesworth, and styled by Alex Harrington, Emma takes the spotlight in fabulous, avant garde styles with pieces from Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Marni, Maison Margiela, Miu Miu, Comme des Garçons, Proenza Schouler, Hailey Desjardins, Prada, Adidas, The Row, & Loewe.

Spector not only writes about Emma’s rise to fame as Princess Diana on Netflix’s The Crown, but also their upcoming projects, including My Policeman, alongside Harry Styles, & an adaptation of Lady Chatterly’s Lover by D. H. Lawrence, as well as Emma’s social media presence supporting & raising awareness for the trans community. Emma states, “In my mind, gender just isn’t something that feels fixed…and I don’t know if it ever will be; there might always be some fluidity there for me…If you have a platform and you’re able to use it, that’s obviously so important—and I met some incredible people through it.”
