Runway Rundown: Valentino’s Spring 2015 Couture Collection from Paris!

Valentino Spring 2015 Couture Collection.

When it comes to romance, Valentino‘s Spring 2015 Couture collection embodied the theme with inspiration from literature & art, including excerpts from Shakespeare & Dante, as well as paintings by Chagall. The evidence is clear in corseted dresses, tapestry materials, the flow & whimsy of chiffon, saturated neutrals, floral appliques, & caftan shapes. Clearly the Valentino woman is searching for love, adventure, truth, & beauty. The collection comes just in time for this weekend’s Grammy Awards, as well as the Oscars at the end of the month, with plenty of red carpet inspiration for loyal celebrities of the brand to pursue, including Keira Knightley, Amanda Seyfried, Jennifer Lopez, Emma Stone, Nicole Kidman, & Zoe Saldana.

Which look is your favorite from the collection? Who do you think would look gorgeous in any of these dresses? Do you like Valentino’s vision for romance on the runway? Runway Rundown: Elie Saab’s Spring 2015 Couture Collection from Paris!

Elie Saab Spring 2015 Couture Collection.

Elie Saab is one of the most consistently successful haute couture designers, especially when it comes to the most glamorous & decadent dresses & gowns. It’s no wonder the brand is a favorite among A-listers like Jessica Chastain, Nicole Kidman, Taylor Swift, Lily Collins, & Naomi Watts for the biggest red carpet occasions. Next weekend Grammy Awards & the Oscars at the end of February are sure to show at least one or two of Elie Saab’s designs from the Spring 2015 Couture collection, which are rich in details like beading, feathers, sheer panels, tulip embellishments, pockets in dresses, & ruffles for days!

Style Tip: How To Dress Your Best For Your Body Type (Dedicated to Kerri)!

After a lot of research & gathering of information, I’ve FINALLY put together some really important tips for how to dress your best for your body type, especially after getting feedback from my friend, Kerri! Clearly, not all women are created equally & thank goodness for that! It’s about time I’ve addressed this issue, especially since the rules are always changing, but here are some very essential ideas in order to work your assets the best way possible for hourglass, diamond, rectangular / straight, inverted triangle, pear, & oval / apple body shapes.

How to style an inverted triangle shape

Luxury Look-Alike For Less: Studded Sandals From Neiman Marcus Vs. Forever 21!

When I’m lacking inspiration for a blog, you can either find me perusing the internet for absurdly adorable pictures of puppies, or checking out some seriously sexy shoes that I don’t think I’ll ever be able to afford. However, I was so inspired by Nicole Kidman’s new ad campaign for Jimmy Choo & began thinking about simple ways to update my spring-summer-fall shoe collection without breaking the bank. Also, I love the idea of studded sandals, especially since I’ve been seeing the trend all over the pages of my favorite fashion magazines this summer.  This includes the Saint Laurent strappy studded leather sandal ($867.00) in black, Prada studded metallic ankle-strap sandal ($636.00) in silver, Valentino allover rockstud sandal ($995.00) in poudre, & Schutz Akshya spiked sandal ($240.00) in black / gold, all from Neiman Marcus.

Neiman Marcus

Each style offers plenty of toe cleavage, as well as height to show off your legs in shorts romper, mini skirt, or sheath dress, especially when paired with softer details like lace, a floral print, or ruched bodice.

If you’re looking to achieve the same gladiator style with metallic studding, then I recommend heading over to Forever 21 for their leather-lined spike gladiator heels ($32.50) in both black & natural to fulfill all of your gritty & modern fashion needs. These are perfect for mixing up your office look for happy hour with the girls, heading out for a date in and LBD, or making a statement with the ever so trendy jumpsuit.

Watch This Style: Nicole Kidman’s Debut Ads & Short Film For Jimmy Choo!

Nicole Kidman for Jimmy Choo 01

All this time here I was thinking that the best legs in Hollywood belonged to actress / mogul Jennifer Lopez or supermodel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, but the sultry side of Nicole Kidman is out in full force for her latest venture as the face.. err… legs… err feet of Jimmy Choo‘s Autumn / Winter 2013 collection. This is by far the best we’ve ever seen the Australian beauty & not only are there images to show her strut her stuff, but there’s also a short film video that’s gorgeous enough to make any Style Darling break the bank and buy a pair of the luxury footwear! I love the nearly $1,000 shoes, as well as Nicole’s shaggy red wig, which makes her look every bit the bombshell that we love her to be.

I really enjoyed being able to play a role that was strong, sexy and in control,” she shares, according to People, adding “I got into a relationship with the photographer [Mikael Jansson], & Mikael is very intuitive, he knows what I am thinking & feeling & is able to translate it through the camera.” Inspiration for the shoot came from the photography of Helmut Newton, as well as the strong heroine icons of Alfred Hitchcock films- no doubt including Grace Kelly, who Nicole portrays in her upcoming film, Grace of Monaco.

The brand’s creative director Sandra Choi reveals more behind the campaign & collection. “There is a feeling of a quiet eroticism in the collection, & this concept was brought to life by Nicole’s magnetic presence in front of the camera… Her character portrays the multi-faceted qualities of the Jimmy Choo woman for this season – strong, sexy with a beguiling sense of mystery.

What do you think of the ad campaign? Do you own a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes? What other celebrities would you like to see represent your favorite brands? Red Carpet Review: This Year’s Cannes Film Festival, Featuring Nicole Kidman, Carey Mulligan, Rooney Mara, & More!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The Cannes Film Festival is still underway; however, I’ve been ravenously collecting a slew of glamorous day & evening looks from the event’s red carpets, including premieres / screenings, press junkets, & parties. Some of the most buzzed about films are being celebrated overseas, including The Great Gatsby, As I Lay Dying, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Bling Ring, & Inside Llewyn Davis. Jennifer Lawrence has been in out & about in several head-to-toe Dior looks. It’s also no surprise that Gatsby actress Carey Mulligan has been making headlines with a series of black & white minimalist ensembles from Vionnet, Balenciaga, Dior Haute Couture, & Chloe.

Other favorites include Nicole Kidman who is promoting Grace of Monaco, where she portrays the always enchanting Grace Kelly. The Aussie Oscar-winner has been staying loyal to her classic elegance with a touch of flair in a leather belted Calvin Klein dress, Alexander McQueen LBD, dreamy Dior Haute Couture tea-length dress, & fun printed column gown by L’Wren Scott. A star who I’ve been keeping an eye out for, especially from earlier this month at the Met Costume Institute Gala, is Rooney Mara who continues to share her androgynous sense of femininity in Vera Wang, Calvin Klein, & Giambattista Valli.

Be sure also to check out the gallery since I’ll continue to add more images to it, including looks by Ziyi Zhang, Freida Pinto, Emma Watson, Isla Fisher, Jessica Biel (especially in Marchesa), & more! Which has been your favorite look so far? Which movies are you most excited to see from the festival? Runway Rundown: Alexander McQueen’s Fall 2013 Ready-To-Wear Collection!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The House of Alexander McQueen is known for its over-the-top decadence & high fashion luxury. Of course, we’ve all seen the brand’s gorgeous designs on the red carpet, including Amanda Seyfried, Salma Hayek, Nicole Kidman, Mila Kunis, Cate Blanchett, & countless others which have stunned critics & celebrated the vision of the late designer. It was announced that a pregnant Sarah Burton, creative director of Alexander McQueen, would not be showing a collection during fashion week; however, this limited 10-piece Fall 2013 Ready-To-Wear Collection is beyond any runway presentation seen at Paris Fashion Week. Check out the video below & click through the gallery above to see each feat of fashion in motion.

Clearly, no detail was overlooked & while these pieces aren’t necessarily street-ready or red carpet-friendly for the average movie premiere, the collection honors the brand’s legacy with ornate beading & studding, lush lace-over-lace, exaggerated peplums, jeweled masks, metallic crown-inspired corsets, & a no-sparkle-left-behind philosophy. In Style spoke with the label which shared that the “hyperworked embellishment” details take a cue “from communion gowns to cardinals’ robes, the high church, nuns, popes, angels.” What better timing than now for such an homage when the Christian community is buzzing about who will be the next pope!

Of course I don’t see very many occasions for these pieces in my everyday life, but as an informed Style Darling, I can definitely appreciate the artistry & craftsmanship, especially having had the privilege to view pieces from this historial brand at the Metropolitan Museum of Art back in 2011. For more an up close & personal look at these pieces, check out a detail-focused gallery on Elle & share with us what you think of this collection. Happy Styling!

Red Carpet Review: Complete Coverage Of The 85th Annual Academy Awards, Featuring Naomi Watts, Reese Witherspoon, Zoe Saldana & More!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The 2013 Oscars are just starting & there’s so much to talk about from tonight’s red carpet, including the anticipation behind the performances from the cast of Les Miserables, as well as the tribute to the James Bond series. Some of my favorites so far include Naomi Watts‘ high fashion look from Armani Prive, Reese Witherspoon‘s classic old Hollywood Louis Vuitton cobalt gown, Zoe Saldana‘s two-tone fishtail gown by Alexis Mabille, & Sandra Bullock‘s lace-detailed Elie Saab gown.

Other notable hits include Jessica Chastain (in Giorgio Armani), Nicole Kidman (in L’Wren Scott), Jennifer Garner (in Gucci), Kerry Washington (in Miu Miu), & Charlize Theron (in Dior Haute Couture). Not to mention that I predicted Jennifer Lawrence‘s Dior Haute Couture gown as an Oscar pick in my recent post, which is nothing short of fabulous when it hit the red carpet!

Who wore your favorite looks? Which nominees are you rooting for? Are you excited to see performances by Adele, Norah Jones, & Jennifer Hudson? For more from this year’s awards season, check out more from Red Carpet Review including the Golden Globes, Grammys, BAFTAs, & SAGs! Happy Styling!
