Luxury Look-Alikes For Less: Penelope Cruz & Cameron Diaz’s Oscar Gowns Knock-Offs!

It’s been a number of weeks now since the Oscars & Style Darling eagerly featured a red carpet gallery, which showcased stunners like Penelope Cruz in Armani Prive & Cameron Diaz in Gucci. It was probably one of the most gorgeous turn-outs on the red carpet in a long time.  Fashion critics are still talking about Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom FordJennifer Lopez’s cleavage, Stacy Keibler in gold, & Angelina Jolie’s right leg!

It was only a matter of time before knock-offs of their incredibly beautiful gowns were created for the masses.  As usual, these look-alikes can be found @EDressMe! We recently featured Golden Globes looks worn by Jessica Alba, Angelina Jolie, & Charlize Theron!

However, if you loved the way Penelope & Cameron looked & are in need of a show-stopping red carpet-esque evening gown, check out the Penelope Cruz-inspired Oscar dress by Faviana ($318.00) & the Cameron Diaz-inspired dress by Faviana ($398.00).

Of course b/c these gowns are so elegant & perfect for many ages, both are currently sold out, but according to the website, they will be able to ship in August.

Red Carpet Review: Jennifer Aniston’s Little Black Dress Looks!

Jennifer Aniston is America’s Sweetheart- without a doubt. She’s filling the style ranks as a modern-day Audrey Hepburn (in her own way- of course nothing can truly compare to Miss Audrey)!  Jennifer is all about being comfortable & sexy, always complimenting her very fit figure, however she never looks overdone or as though someone else dressed her.  She makes the little black dress her own in every way possible, adding black tights for the cooler months, sticking to ultra strappy sandals, & always showing off some serious toe cleavage.  I watched a recent episode of Fashion Police on E! & Jennifer was being criticized for wearing yet another LBD to an appearance on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, but I think it suits her, especially looking so ridiculously effortless & hot in them.  She really puts twenty-somethings who don’t own their sense of style to shame.

These seven images capture Jennifer at various events over the last few years,  but most recently while she’s promoting her endless slew of rom-coms & other films.  Starting from left to right, here we go: First the former Friends star dons a flirty shoulder-embellished Nina Ricci frock for the February premiere of Just Go With It in Berlin.  Next she wears a structured black 3/4 sleeve dress with black tights again for another winter appearance, but this time at The Early Show.  Both of these looks are super easy to pull off & it really seems like she’s wearing the same shoes & tights.  Here’s a tip straight from the actress herself, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

The third image is from a 2004 luncheon in Los Angeles & she’s wearing a ruffled Moschino wrap dress & super skinny stapped sandals.  This is very figure-flattering & the thin straps on the heels don’t cover up her feet, thus helping elongate her legline.  At a 2006 event, she chose a metallic Calvin Klein dress with a little fringe detail at the bottom & plenty of decolletage to go around.  However it does look like she’s just thrown on yet another easy LBD & looks super comfortable in it, continuing with her skinny strappy sandal rule.

While promoting The Switch last summer, Jennifer went with a dolman style mini dress, layered necklaces, & peep toe pumps. This style of dress is very easy to wear, especially if there are parts that you wanna cover up, but really, do you think she’s got anything to hide?  At the Madrid premiere of The Bounty Hunter, she returned back to black metallics in strapless Valentino number & seriously bondage-looking heels.  The frilly look of the mini dress vs. the edge of the shoes is a surprising combination on her, but it totally works!

At the recent premiere of Horrible Bosses in Los Angeles, she chose a Balenciaga mini dress with her signature style of sandals by Versace & accessorized with Fred Leighton jewelry & a clutch by Salvatore Ferragamo.  Lastly, the alleged crime of LBDs (only b/c Joan Rivers is so sick of talking about it- I personally think it’s adorable), Jennifer returned to Nina Ricci in this feminine, floral LBD & cute accented peep toe pumps.  For the afternoon appearance at The Daily Show, she looks polished, professional, & like a lady, saving the sexy side for night.

Here we have some great little black dress suggestions, available at New York & Company, Macy’s, Victoria’s Secret, Lulu’s, Forever 21, Avenue, EDressMe, & Express!  Happy Styling!

Style ABC’s (x3): E is for Emma Roberts, Elle for Kohls, & EDressMe!

is for Emma Roberts, one of the most talked about rising stars in the last year.  Yes, the connection to her aunt Julia helps, but she’s come into her own with roles in Valentine’s Day, It’s Kind of a Funny Story, & most recently Scream 4.  The spokesmodel for Neutrogena & fresh-faced star of the upcoming comedy Adult World, has been hitting the red carpets of movie premieres, film festivals, & charity events. The petite star is one of my newest favorites for her sense of style & sense of humor.  Here we see her in a variety of chic looks which include a sexy cocktail dress by Escada, a Temperley London tunic dress, a trendy separates outfit by Z Spoke by Zac Posen, & also a youthful casual look in skinny jeans & a shrunken blazer.

@Kohl’s, you’ll find a stylish array of affordable designers like Lauren Conrad, Vera Wang, Daisy Fuentes, Dana Buchman, & also  a collection inspired from the pages of ELLE magazine.  The ELLE collection features clothing, accessories, & home decor all at a decent price.  Take these five pieces, for example, which can be mixed & matched with any number of other pieces that you currently have in your wardrobe.

The LBD is darling to pair with some suede platforms & a black wristlet for a date night.  The blue ruffled top is a flirty take on a basic tee that is perfect for bootcut jeans or cuffed capris & strappy wedges for a luncheon on the weekend. I love ruffled floral blouses for their feminine flair, even with cuffed jeans & a ruched shopper handbag when you’re out & about shopping. These chambray shorts are so cute for a pintuck floral tee & wedge slides for a picnic in Central Park on a sunny spring day.  For an evening party, pick out these nude pumps for shirtdress or a chiffon empire printed dress. Don’t forget that nude pumps like these are super flattering for elongating the legline (as per a previous blog here).

EDressMe is a website that offers cocktail looks, separates, & everything you may need for a formal event, including prom dresses!  One of my favorite parts of this site is the variety of celebrity-inspired gowns.  Give it just a few days after a big awards show like the Oscars or the Grammys & this site will have knockoff of the designer names worn by celebrities like Carrie Underwood (click here), Halle Berry (click here), & Anne Hathaway (click here).  I’ve selected three knock-offs to show with their red carpet inspirations.  Although the knock-offs still cost a few hundred dollars, it’s really a bargain if you’re seeking to recreate a memorable night of making fashion history! EDressMe is also great for looking for those finishing touches for your special occasion with an elegant selection of footwear, clutches, shrugs, & under garments.  Take a look also at their clearance items up for 90% off! Happy Styling!

Luxury Look-Alikes for Less: Gwyneth Paltrow’s Calvin Klein Oscar Gown!

When Gwyneth Paltrow showed up at this year’s Academy Awards in a plunging  liquid gold column dress from Calvin Klein Collection, the jaws of fashion critics everywhere dropped!  I instantly knew that this would be one of the top looks knocked off at an affordable price.  While $360 is no small sum, compared to its high-end designer label price, this is a look that can be worn any time of year at a number of stylish events.  The rich & shimmering metallic hue takes care of any major jewelry pieces that you may want to add. To finish off your look, take a gander at these special extras.  For more celebrity-inspired awards show looks, check out EDressMe!  Happy Styling!

Red Carpet Review: 2011 SAG Awards (PART TWO)!

Let’s continue our fun & fashionable talk about this Sunday’s 17th Annual SAG awards.  Our two final categories are the darker looks & the risk-takers.  There’s so much to talk about & even after seeing E!’s Fashion Police last night, I can’t get Joan Rivers’ voice out of my head!

The red carpet beauties embraced black & dark colors in classic silhouettes like one-shoulder, a pencil LBD, sweetheart neckline, & even the daring Julie Bowen shows off an awards show-worthy pantsuit by Catherine Maladrino!  She’s an innovative & underestimated fashionista- Sofia Vergara better watch out!

I just can’t explain how much I truly loved Dianna Agron‘s gorgeous navy Chanel tea-length dress.  She’s the one to watch, of all the Gleek red carpet darlings.

Kim Kardashian killed in a plum Marchesa, although I’m still scratching my head as to why she was in attendance, having no credible acting talent.  Don’t get me wrong, the girl has style, but for these occasions, I like to see the front-runners of the industry showing off their glamorous side.

Perhaps of the classic all-black looks, Amber Riley gets the A+ for going all out glam in a figure-flattering ruched mermaid gown by Anne Barge, originally designed as a bridal gown, but turned into raven for the actress.  Her sleek chunky bangs & super straight hair reminded me of Jennifer Hudson‘s early red carpet days.

Parks & Recreation‘s Amy Poehler & The Closer‘s Kyra Sedgwick never looked more elegant than these age-appropriate black dresses!  I did consider featuring Mad Men‘s Christina Hendricks in the risk-taker section, but I actually love her smoldering vintage look with a smoky eye.  She usually embraces something sweet or bold, exuding flirty sex appeal, but here we see a more dramatic side to her belted L’Wren Scott sparkler.

The risk takers of the night were all about color, pattern, volume, & secrets.  Claire Danes utilizes patterns in a floral, January Jones takes on printed lace (her first time wearing Carolina Herrera!), Hailee Steinfeld is youthful in stripes (she even wore a hot pink lips ring!), & Mila Kunis wears a watercolor pattern. Although Claire was the only winner of the group, she was on-trend with a long belt for her sweeping dress.

By color, I’m talking Sofia Vergara giving new meaning to “baby blues!”  Watch out Jennifer Lopez, there’s a new Latina on the red carpet & she’s not going out without a bang!  Volume exists in Jenna Ushkowitz‘s creamy ruffled dress (perhaps one size too small?) & her Glee co-star Jane Lynch shows her purple side in a less than flattering wrap gown, but still gives a good effort!  I say secrets because of Nicole Kidman‘s Nina Ricci lacey dress with a very sexy & effortless lace back.

February 27th is the 83rd Academy Awards ceremony, so mark your calendars & break out your spanx!  My bet is on Natalie Portman to simply steal the show, like winner Sandra Bullock did the year before.  Nominees include Nicole Kidman, Melissa Leo, Amy Adams, Jennifer Lawrence, Michelle Williams, & Hailee Steinfeld, so we’ll have to see how those stylish ladies continue their fabulous streak of red carpet excellence!  In days to come, I’ll be on the lookout for SAG knockoffs, perhaps at EDressMe?  Happy Styling!

Luxury Look-Alikes for Less: Renee Zellweger’s Golden Globe gown!

After this week’s Golden Globes, I started thinking about some of my favorite gowns from previous years.  Back in October, I posted a luxury look-alike of Renee Zellweger from back in 2000 when she won for Nurse Betty

This vintage sweetheart Jean Desses gown made all the headlines b/c of its gorgeous yellow hue.  The Oscar winner set the trend for wearing yellow on the red carpet- in January.  Stunners like Reese Witherspoon, Mariska Hargitay, & Angelina Jolie have since (& perhaps inadvertently) followed.  This look-alike (to the left) is still on the market for purchase! And if yellow is on your mind, check out these gorgeous yellow gowns!

If you’re determined to find a yellow gown, might I suggest some of these gorgeous accessories to add special touches of sparkle & splashes of glamour to the sunshine hue.  Break out some bling in silver or gold, which will definitely pop against a bright white.  There’s always the fun combination of yellow with red, like mustard & ketchup.  Here’s where a cocktail ring really comes into play.  If you’re going for a fierce bumble bee black & yellow theme, try bringing in your black with some glitter in a clutch.

Although there was no yellow at this year’s Golden Globes, all 11 years later, it’s one of those colors that always catches our attention.  Always cheerful & playful, yellow keeps appearing & as long as it’s fabulous, you can count on Style Darling to share it.  For example, check out a shoe search for a friend’s upcoming wedding shoes in yellow… I wonder what ever came of that search?  Keep a look out for some more Luxury Look-Alike posts about this year’s Golden Globe ceremonies.  I’ve already seen Mandy Moore & Sofia Vergara‘s gowns knocked off.  Maybe you’ll see them too!  Happy Styling!
