Top 10 Celeb Sightings: The Gals from Ghostbusters, Glitter, Glitz, & More!

While I’m working on a new essay based on my recent trip to New York City to the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the Manus x Machina exhibit, my attention has been drawn to the latest & greatest of celebrity red carpet appearances. Just to clarify, I don’t share these celebrity images to praise the thin & privileged, or to negatively reinforce that beauty is supposed to look a certain way (like a white Hollywood actress). I’m inspired by the style in the images below, from sequins to lace to cut-outs to draping to accessories & all that. Not only do I appreciate the craftsmanship of a beautiful garment, but how an outfit is assembled (to me) is like a work of art, setting a tone & inspiring something beautiful with texture & colors.

Oscar-winning actress Alicia Vikander shimmered in a silver Louis Vuitton gown with Bulgari Serpenti jewelry at the Jason Bourne premiere. The Shallows star Blake Lively continued to show off her on fleek maternity style in a salmon lace dress by Jonathan Simkhai (shop similar here) with a Christian Louboutin Paloma bag (shop similar here), Sophia Webster Rosalind crystal sandals (shop here), & jewelry by Anita Ko in New York City. Indian beauty Freida Pinto went for a monochromatic all-white look in a beaded embellished top with white leg pants & a menswear inspired jacket by Ralph Lauren Collection & neutral pumps at the Wimbledon Men’s Finals. Julia Stiles showed off her curves in a honeycomb-patterned Rubin Singer halter gown (see runway look here) with jewelry by Amrapali & Jerome C. Rousseau sandals at the European premiere of Jason Bourne.

Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, Margot Robbie, & Melissa McCarthy.I love how even after so many years of following celebrity fashion & blogging that I’m still surprised & impressed by what’s happening on the red carpet. I love how classic silhouettes can work for so many different shapes & sizes, proving that fashion can not only be evolutionary, but also timeless. Dressing glamorously isn’t just for the red carpet either. Take some inspiration from these ensembles & try a little extra sparkle for your next night out. Top 10 Celeb Sightings: Winter Style Envy with Inspiration from Alicia Vikander, Jessica Alba, Olivia Palermo, & More!

Before we get into what’s going on in the world of celebrity style, I’d like to wish everyone a very happy & stylish 2016. I took a much-needed break from the blogosphere where I finished my thesis (a full-length memoir) & I’m on track to graduate with my MFA this May! Also, I tackled a busy holiday season of working 2 jobs (whilst finishing said thesis) & getting sidelined with 2 cases of laryngitis. However, in keeping with good news, I’m happily part of a new relationship, which is motivating me more to conquer 2016 with all things positive & stylish. I’ve learned that the key to any passion project (I’ve transitioned from thesis to blog) is to make sure your life is in order & in a good place before you can successfully dive into it.

In my absence, A LOT has happened when it comes to celebrity style & wow-worthy red carpet moments. With today’s major snowstorm (shutting down part of Long Island, at least), I finally have the opportunity to indulge in some fashion eye candy, catching up on the latest trends & getting inspired when it comes to a chic winter wardrobe. While we wait for the red carpet for this weekend’s Grammy Awards & the Oscars later this month, we can find some style inspiration from our favorite Style Darlings in the latest installment of Top 10 Celeb Sightings, featuring beautiful designer gowns, flirty frocks, & chic separates.

Oscar-winner Anne Hathaway surprised in a magenta Solace London strapless gown with an arm cuff by Antonini Aurea & white pointy toe heels at the 19th annual Art Directors Guild Excellence In Production Design Awards. Model Chrissy Teigen was all smiles in a crop top & ivory slitted skirt by Temperley London with a netted clutch by d & nude Stuart Weitzman sandals at the 2015 NFL Honors event. Oscar nominee Felicity Jones was pretty in a floral print neck-tie silk gown by Erdem at the 19th Annual Art Directors Guild Excellence in Production Design Awards. Actress Isabel Lucas sparkled in a pale blue Swarovski crystal-encrusted Jenny Packham gown with a mirrored Lee Savage clutch. America’s sweetheart Jennifer Aniston maintained her retro trend in an all-black ensemble including a keyhole top & wide-leg pants for the Montecito Awards.

Obvious Child star Jenny Slate showed off her feminine side in a floral tea length Dolce & Gabbana dress with Christian Louboutin sandals Virtuoso Awards during the 30th Santa Barbara International Film Festival. Jordana Brewster worked a wave-embroidered Narcisco Rodriguez little white dress with a black Edie Parker clutch, & mesh black Casadei pumps at the premiere of Project Almanac. The Americans actress Keri Russell made an appearance on the Today show in a pale blue button-down shirt with a floral print Victoria Beckham pencil skirt, green cocoon coat, & orange sandals. Mad Men ingénue Kiernan Shipka continued with her perfect red carpet streak in a strapless floral lace Lela Rose dress with blue Stuart Weitzman sandals at the 19th annual Art Directors Guild Excellence In Production Design Awards. The always sultry Megan Fox was elegant in a purple Salvatore Ferragamo gown at the Tokyo premiere of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

As signs of autumn have never been more present here on Long Island, it’s impossible not to look to the most buzzed about celebrities without some major fashion envy. I’m trying to catch up the biggest headlines in fashion, while keeping my budget in mind, especially since I’m currently on a shopping fast to cleanse not just my soul, but also my savings account! However, what better way to indulge in fashion than to check out the latest red carpet looks from our favorite celebrities. I’m all packed & ready to hit the road tomorrow for a highly anticipated break from reality while attending a very intense, yet chic Writer’s Conference out in Southampton for the next eleven days… which means that posts may be sparse for the rest of the month. Actress Brit Marling  downplays her natural beauty with black & white separates. Also, Diane Kruger takes a stroll in Malibu with a flirty take on the trend with a button-up mini skirt & printed top, all made feminine by a 3.1 Phillip Lim bag.

I’ve been one busy little Style Darling lately & it kills me that I went for so many days without posting! So much has been going on in fashion & the May issues of my favorite magazines are stacking up, collecting dust. I can’t wait to flip through them, but in the mean time, I’ve been scoping out some seriously stylish red carpet looks from our favorite celebrities, including Gwyneth Paltrow, who wore a sleek two-tone Narciso Rodriguez frock during an interview on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Also, trends I’ve been noticing are black & white looks, appropriately on my favorite Kates, such as mom-to-be Kate Middleton in a polka dot Topshop dress & Ralph Lauren jacket, Kate Hudson in a leather-accented belted dress, & Kate Beckinsale‘s patterned suit while attending the TCM Classic Film Festival.

Runway Rundown: Lanvin’s Pre-Fall 2013 Collection!

When a celebrity says that they’re wearing a design by Lanvin, then you automatically known that it’s going to be glamorous. We’ve already seen some of the latest Pre-Fall 2013 Collection pieces at work on the red carpet, including Emma Stone‘s ravishing sweetheart look from the Gangster Squad premiere in Los Angeles, a featured in a Top 10 Celeb Sightings post! However, this collection includes stunning separates, ranging in a variety of styles- if you’re into that Katharine Hepburn menswear look, or love what Rooney Mara’s character, Lisbeth Salander, rocked in Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Now that the Golden Globes have been analyzed to death, we can look forward to the stars celebrating awards season in between shows (we’ve yet to see what’s going to happen on the red carpets from the SAG Awards & Oscars!). However, a big trend at the Globes was the color black & it seems it has returned to the red carpet & the celebrities are loving it!
