The last week has been full of amazing news, including that from last week’s Super Bowl, New York Fashion Week, that nasty winter storm Nemo, the red carpet from the BAFTA Awards, as well as this weekend’s Grammy Awards. What are the stories that you’ve been following? Which headlines are you tweeting? Happy Styling!
As we begin our very stylish 2013 (I know I’ve been lacquered up with sparkling nails, new eyeshadow shades, & my favorite heels), it’s time to pay attention to what’s going on around us in the worlds of fashion, entertainment, & pop culture. I’m happy to share the stories that have raised an eye brow & keep me clicking away to stay in the know. What stories are you following this week? Which movies have you seen or sales have you shopped? Happy Styling!
Awards season is officially in full swing with the announcement of the Screen Actors Guild & Critics Choice nominations. All of my favorite celebs have been hitting the red carpet, including the stunning stars of Les Miserables to promote their best work. While actress Anne Hathaway had some sort of revealing wardrobe malfunction in the (pictured above) black silky Tom Ford number, she still looked every bit the major movie star, along with Amanda Seyfried in a beguiling Alexander McQueen gown. Other favorites include Freida Pinto‘s golden Ralph Lauren Collection look & Naomi Watts floral gown by Zac Posen.
Also, be sure to check out my other picks for the Top 10 Celeb Sightings, including Cate Blanchett in peplum dress by Peter Pilotto, Elizabeth Banks‘ Rachel Zoe Collection LBD, Emma Stone‘s pastel colorblock ensemble by Project Runway finalist Daniel Vosovic, Jessica Alba‘s leather-accented Narciso Rodriguez dress, Jessica Chastain‘s Elie Saab confection, & Zoe Saldana‘s sexy Preen sheath.
Who’s wearing your favorite look? Have you been following the latest red carpet appearances? Which stars are you most exciting to see during this awards season? For more fabulous red carpet looks, check out previous posts, including Katy Perry & Scarlett Johansson, Gwen Stefani & Sarah Jessica Parker, as well as Nina Dobrev & Solange Knowles! Happy Styling!
Ever since news hit the web that there was going to be a full-on movie musical remake of the legendary novel-turned-Broadway play, Les Miserables, I’ve been following its every move of production, including casting news & sneak peeks at the stars singing their hearts on. Two of the film’s leading ladies, Anne Hathaway & Amanda Seyfried, have been dazzling on the red carpet, which I, naturally, needed to feature b/c there was just too much great fashion not to!
Let’s start with Amanda whose belted Alexander McQueen column gown was an ethereal turn for the blue-eyed blonde, accessorized with mirrored Rupert Sanderson evening sandals. The January In Style cover girl stole the show in a plunging two-toned Balenciaga gown with towering satin platforms for the film’s London premiere. Amanda returned to pastels in a soft Marios Schwab dress with patent leather peep toes by Rupert Sanderson. Also, back in October, as the buzz surrounding the film was just starting, Amanda appeared at the Hollywood Film Awards in a ravishing red bustier dress by Prabal Gurung with earrings by Dana Rebecca Designs & platform Jimmy Choo shoes.
I’ve been talking about Miss Anne quite a lot this year, ever since she debuted her short ‘do back in July, hit the red carpet in Valentino, & shined on the covers of Vogue & Glamour! The newlywed continued to channel Audrey Hepburn in a sleek Victoria Beckham LBD with black pumps. While talking up the film in Tokyo, she donned a Antonio Berardi keyhole dress with open toe patent leather shoes. She took a risk in a relaxed midnight column gown a New York screening of Les Mis wearing a moonstone cocktail ring by Graziela. Most recently, she made quite the movie star entrance while showing off her back in an all-over beaded Givenchy gown in London.
There’s no doubt that this is Anne’s year on the red carpet, but I know I can’t take my eyes off of Amanda, whose style seems to get better, fresher, & more feminine at every glance. Whose red carpet style do you like better? Do you like Anne’s pixie cut? Do you think Amanda was a good choice for Les Miserables? Happy Styling!
Now that December has rolled around, all of my favorite magazines have started debuting their January 2013 covers, including the always fabulous Glamour magazine, featuring A-list actress Anne Hathaway, donning her now famous pixie cut, ultra lithe figure, & hard-to-miss newlywed glow. The Les Miserables star plays with bright colors & hot pants for the magazine’s spread, sharing with readers her competitive nature, gorgeous honeymoon, & how she’s sworn off shopping for the rest of 2012.
What do you think about Anne’s shorter ‘do? Which celebs do you like seeing on mag covers? Happy Styling!
The holidays are in full swing now & I can’t think of a better way to start celebrating the festivities than to share the latest celebrity images for Top 10 Celeb Sightings. There are some really amazing movies coming out, including Les Miserables, Hitchcock, & Rust & Bone, as well as some upcoming television premieres like Girls, which means that there’s lots to keep an eye out for on Style Darling. Some of my favorites include Scarlett Johansson during an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman in Giambattista Valli, Miranda Kerr‘s high-slit gown, Allison Williams in a stunning silver Naeem Khan gown, & Katy Perry‘s prettiest Dolce & Gabbana look.
Also, check out Amy Adams in Giorgio Armani, Emily Blunt in Calvin Klein Collection, Felicity Jones in Burberry Prorsum, Kate Mara in Jason Wu, Marion Cotillard in Christian Dior, & Selena Gomez in Dolce & Gabbana. Which look is your favorite? What upcoming red carpet events are you looking forward to this season?
‘Tis the season to take your clothes off for a magazine.. well, not really, but that’s what Rihanna (in AllSaints) & Keira Knightley (in Chanel) have both done for the December 2012 issues of GQ & Allure, respectively. I love the idea of being confident in your body & loving your shape, however I’m not sure that’s the message that these two cover Style Darlings are sending, but I don’t publish the magazines. However, Catherine Zeta-Jones is keeping it classy for In Style‘s final issue of the year in a v-neck dress by Nina Ricci.
Also, I’m happy to share the latest from Vogue, featuring Les Miserables actress & recent Saturday Night Live host, Anne Hathaway who is looking every bit the movie star in Ralph Lauren, Taylor Swift making her 2nd appearance this month (see previous Cover Craze post) for Harper’s Bazaar & she’s talking about how hard it is to wear the same dress twice, & the always ladylike Jennifer Hudson, who’s appearing in the 2nd season of Smash, for Redbook. Happy Styling!
Anne Hathaway has hit the red carpet with a reinvented classic retro vibe, cad with her pixie cut (for Les Miserables), little black dresses, basic black shoes, & elegance pendant necklaces. The Oscar-nominee is in full swing promoting her latest film, the major summer blockbuster The Dark Knight Rises. The Style Darling‘s looks are elegant, contemporary, youthful, & worth making her the Darling of the Day.
Since I couldn’t pick just one look that I loved, I decided to share the four most recent images of her Audrey Hepburn-inspired style. Her short ‘do is perfectly understated while these leg-baring frocks reveal that the actress isn’t slowing down her glamour game just yet. Included in these images are dresses by Dolce & Gabbana, Stella McCartney, & Givenchy, paired with Tory Burch ankle strap sandals.
Since there are so many fabulous details in the dresses above, I’ve found some affordable LBDs to help recreate Anne’s breathtaking noir turn. First from Forever 21, we have the shawl collar surplice dress ($27.80) & the mesh yoke bodycon dress ($24.80), which is available in sizes XL – 3X. H&M has this belted dress ($34.95) which moves beautifully & can be dressed up with peep toes or worn casually with flats. To show off your shape, I recommend the ponte knit sheath dress ($48.93) from Express. If you’re looking to imitate the feel of Anne’s forth look above, head over to Lulu’s for the Motown black dress ($38.00). Lastly, since we are talking about one of the most sought after actresses in all the land, we need to step up our style game just a little & share the Jessica Howard sequin cap sleeve dress ($70.00) @JCP.
Lastly, to help complete the look, I’ve searched high & low for some of the best accessories. This includes the Forever 21 oval locket necklace ($5.80) & floral pendant necklace ($1.50). In addition, my shoe choices include the Brash Gemini flat ($26.99) from Payless (which I’ve previously featured in champagne), Charlotte Russe‘s fabric mouse ballet flat ($30.00), sueded ankle wrap pump ($35.50), & Michael Antonio Loveme patent pump ($40.00) @Zappos.
Which of Anne’s looks do you like the best? Would you ever rock a pixie cut? How do you feel about all the black-on-black? All comments & suggestions are always welcome, so please share! Classic literature has never looked so stylish, especially with the motion picture remakes of some of the most well-known stories. This includes Les Miserables, starring Anne Hathaway, Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Eddie Redmayne, & Amanda Seyfried. The adaptation from Victor Hugo’s novel & the quintessential Broadway play is set to hit theaters December 14th. Check out the trailer below for an emotional first trailer of the film, as well as this link to the latest coverage of the film on Movie Buzzers.
Also, for some real high-fashion glamour, director Baz Luhrmann is reinventing F. Scott Fitzgerald jazz-age tragedy, The Great Gatsby, in 3-D with a stellar cast which includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, Tobey Maguire, Isla Fisher, & Joel Edgerton. I’ve been following the coverage of this film on Movie Buzzers, but I’ve been dying to share with my Style Darling readers a gimpse of this movie. The trailer is a dramatic tease of glitz & glory. Also, be sure to follow that least news on this film here.
