Luxury Look-Alikes for Less: Bucket Bags for Spring, Michael Kors vs. Target, & More!

One of the biggest bag trends for spring is the bucket bag, perhaps for the variety of fabrics, patterns, material, & detailed straps that can go into the spacious accessory. Although bucket bags have been around for quite a while, celebrities have been toting the bag around since last year. They’re perfect for traveling, when you’re on the go, or headed for out for lunch with the girls.

Reese Witherspoon, Miranda Kerr, Jamie Chung, & Julianne Hough with bucket bags.

This perfect all-purpose day bag has been spotted on A-listers & style icons like Wild star Reese Witherspoon with a yellow Elizabeth & James bucket bag, model Miranda Kerr with a hot pink bag, actress & fashion blogger Jamie Chung with a printed Elizabeth & James bag, & actress-dancer Julianne Hough with a tan bucket bag.

Just for fun, I wanted to share some gorgeous luxury bucket bags, which come in many forms, with many strap varieties, buckets, studs, & ties. Of course, these gorgeous & high quality bags are investment pieces, but when you’re shopping on a budget, they’re pretty steep when it comes to price tags.

Runway Rundown: Marchesa’s Pre-Fall 2015 Collection Lookbook!

Marchesa Pre-Fall 2015 Collection

One of my favorite designers of all time is Marchesa, the epitome of glamour & elegance when it comes to ornate & timeless red carpet gowns, as famously seen on the red carpet on celebrities like Sandra Bullock, Halle Berry, Blake Lively, & Kerry Washington. The brand’s newest Pre-Fall 2015 Collection is everything & more to expect, including lots of brocade, lace, metallic textures, & just-right ruffles. Of course these designs are perfect for the upcoming awards season, likely to be seen on red carpet favorites like Big Eyes star Amy Adams, American’s sweetheart Jennifer Garner, model-turned-style-icon Kendall Jenner, & Girls actress Allison Williams.

Runway Rundown: Carolina Herrera’s Spring Summer Ready-To-Wear 2015 Fashion Week Collection!

Carolina Herrera Spring Summer Ready-To-Wear 2015 Fashion Week Collection

One of the most innovative, yet consistently classic designers I’ve ever seen is Carolina Herrera. Her designs are always flirty & feminine, yet there’s a modern element that shows her relevance among the top players in fashion. Her latest presentation of the Spring Summer Ready-To-Wear 2015 collection for this season’s New York Fashion Week (#NYFW) was just that & more. In her own words, the line explores “full bloom,” using the technology of digital prints with bold flower inspiration over seemingly watercolored floral details on each look. Also, the soft blend of pastels against luxe & dramatic separates make this a truly beautiful runway experience, one that I would’ve loved to see in person in motion.

As you an see fro the video, as well as the gallery & slideshow below, there’s an effortless blend of futuristic mosaic cuts with paneling & refined grace that exists in the collection. Sometimes florals can be matronly, but this show appeals to Style Darlings of any age who seek elegance with high style. It’s no wonder why Herrera has a loyal celebrity following that includes Renee Zellweger, Emmy Rossum, Jordana Brewster, Camilla Belle, Olivia Palermo, & many more!

To shop through Herrera’s previous work & for your pinning pleasure, check out retailers like Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Gilt, Boutique 1, Harrod’s, Macy’s, Bergdorf Goodman, & Net-A-Porter. Luxury Look-Alikes For Less: A Fall-Ready Textured Jacket, Featuring Alice + Olivia Vs. Dress Barn!

Since my closet space is already limited & bursting, I only have a few must-haves on my fall wardrobe shopping list. However, when it comes to textured jackets, it kind of becomes an impulse buy only because I have a historical love affair with cardigans. But one such jacket has left an impression on me & I had to have it, which only made me happier for my choice upon the discovery that it was already a luxury brand imitation at a much more affordable price.

Bergdorg Goodman - Alice + Olivia Burma tween jacket $550.00. Dress Barn - collared shawl jacket $44.00.

At Bergdorf Goodman, one can acquire the Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet Burma tweed jacket ($550.00) to don the original design, which is a very beautiful combination of menswear inspiration & the sort of modern interest that affords staple everyday separates. My latest addition was the shawl collared jacket ($44.00) from Dress Barn, which I was happy to buy in one size smaller for a sleeker fit on my arms, without having to break the bank either. Also, for shoppers looking to save a little extra, use code jkt25 for an additional 25% off when ordered online. One thing that I love about shopping with Dress Barn is that there’s free shipping anytime your online order is shipped to a store location.

Now, I recognize that these aren’t identical designs, but the mixture of a heavy fabric that wears lightly is the main appeal, along with the endless styling possibilities for both day & the office, transitioning perfectly for happy hour cocktails. I choose the H&M crepe dress ($29.95) in black, accessorized with the Sonya dress bootine ($34.99) in black from Payless & Francesca’s Bailey coil belt ($9.99).

For a chic day out, pair the jacket with basics like the collared surplice blouse ($17.80) from Forever 21, leggings ($24.90) in black from Gap (available in XS – XXL), & the round flat over-the-knee boots ($40.99) in black from Charlotte Russe. How would you style this jacket? What textures are you most drawn to for the upcoming cooler season? What fall trends are you shopping for? Runway Rundown: Monique Lhuillier’s Complete Spring Summer Ready-To-Wear 2015 Collection From New York Fashion Week!

Monique Lhuillier Spring Summer Ready-To-Wear 2015 Fashion Week Collection

In an ongoing effort to bring readers the best from New York Fashion Week (#NYFW), I’m very excited & inspired to share the latest from Monique Lhuillier, who continues to present a combination of modernity with classic femininity. The blend of flowy separates & evening gowns made for a really beautiful show. I love the soft, luxe pastels in this Spring Summer Ready-To-Wear 2015 line, especially when they’re shown with a little sparkle.

These looks are made for the red carpet & editorials in upcoming fashion magazines & I can’t wait to see which star wears one of these designs first. The videos capture a behind-the-scenes look at the collection, beauty prep, & an interview with Ms. Lhuillier herself.

Check out the gallery of gorgeous shots from the catwalk, as well as the slideshow. Color Me Style: Now Is All About Navy, Featuring Blake Lively, Marchesa, & More!

Somewhere around the corner is spring, & while Pantone’s color of 2014 is orchid, I’ve been seeing so much navy everywhere. I love the idea of this regal neutral all over the runways for spring, breaking away from basic black to match with other bold hues.

Blake Lively, Rose Byrne, & Kate Mara.

A-list celebs have been embracing navy on the red carpet, including Blake Lively & Rose Byrne in head-to-toe Michael Kors looks straight from the runway. Also, House of Cards actress Kate Mara shows off her feminine & edgy side with the crop top trend in lace Dior separates & pointy toe pumps.

Derek Lam, Rebecca Minkoff, & Marchesa Fall 2014 Ready-To-Wear

Also, navy appeared on the runway during New York Fashion Week in all forms. Navy is perfect for casual wear, the office, & a night out, as seen on Derek Lam, Rebecca Minkoff, & Marchesa. There’s a decadence to the marvelous midnight color, which was shown with futuristic cut-outs, mod layered lines, & romantic drama.

To bring the red carpet & runway to your closet, I’ve found a few must-have pieces that will transition easily from winter-to-spring, including the belted button-front shirtdress ($40.00) from Dress Barn. To wear it now, in the midst of yet another wintry snow storm here in New York, coordinate this with tights, knee boots, & a chunky boyfriend sweater.

Dress @Dress Barn $40.00, Peasant Top @Forever 21 $22.80, Top @H&M $17.95, Pants @New York & Company $52.95.

Top off your favorite skinny jeans, pencil skirt, or tuxedo pants with the daydreamer peasant top ($22.80) from Forever 21 & H&M‘s lace top ($17.95). Lastly, get rid of those old, boring pants & trade them in for New York & Company‘s 7th Avenue bootcut pants ($52.95) in windowpane print. Mix up your look with a cashmere sweater, embroidered cardigan, or studded vest.

How do you feel about navy in your wardrobe? Which of these pieces can you see yourself wearing? For more fabulous navy picks, check out designer duds like Armani @Nordstrom, Alice + Olivia @Bergdorf Goodman, & Tadashi Shoji @Saks Fifth Avenue. More affordable shopping picks include LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl’s, Victoria’s Secret, Modcloth, & JC Penney! Happy Styling!

Lily Collins is quickly becoming one of Hollywood’s most sought after it-girls, especially by the fashion world. Now, as the face of Glamour‘s July issue, the daughter of Phil Collins is sharing her thick brows & pouty smile with the magazine during a nothing-but-stylist cover shoot at Bergdorf Goodman. Clad in a smattering of designer duds, photographer Ellen von Unwerth captures the Mirror Mirror star in Emilio Pucci, Dior, Christian Louboutin, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Burberry Prorsum, & Gucci.

Watch This Style: The Fabulous Trailer For ‘Scatter My Ashes At Bergdorf’s’!

Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf's

Some of you may already know that I share my online writing time with a film news & reviews website, Movie Buzzers, which has also served readers here on Style Darling. One such story includes the new trailer for the fashion documentary, Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf’s. The Matthew Miele-directed documentary offers a behind-the-scenes look at the ins & outs of one of New York City’s most iconic centers for fashion, Bergdorf Goodman. The title comes from cartoonist Victoria Roberts, whose caption from a classic Bergdorf-obsessed cartoon in New Yorker put all other retailers under par. There are plenty of famous faces talking about, including designers like Chanel’s Karl Lagerfeld, wrap-dress genius Diane von Furstenberg, CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award-winner American Michael Kors, shoe-God Christian Louboutin, among countlessly accomplished and glamorous others. Also, personalities like Joan Rivers, designer / celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe, Sex & the City costume designer Patricia Fields, and actress Susan Lucci all share their experiences of high-profile exposure at the retailer’s central location on 5th Avenue. In addition to these famous faces, the documentary also includes a look at legendary personal shopper, Betty Halbreich, an 85-year-old employee of Bergdorf Goodman since 1976.

Due out in New York theaters on May 3rd, more premieres will follow. What do you think about the documentary? Is this a movie you’d wanna go see? Are you a Bergdorf Goodman shopper? Super Style Wishlist: Christian Louboutin’s Latest Instagram Shots!

The luxury footwear designer, Christian Louboutin, has been invading Instagram & their Facebook with shot sof their classic & newest shoes.  Of course these designs cost more than 6-months of car insurance, but they’re always fabulous to fantasize about! I just wanted to share these darling designs with readers, encouraging them to turn to brand name designers on Facebook to get all the latest about their collections… Or just ‘like’ Style Darling & follow me on Twitter under “MissAlissaL.”

To shop Christian Louboutin, check out Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, & Barneys.  Also, if you’re looking to read more posts from Super Style Wishlist, I recommend party looks form Polyvore, Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall / Winter 2013 collection, & the latest glittery pumps from Jimmy Choo! Super Style Wishlist: Crazy For Cocktail Dresses From Bergdorf Goodman!

Of course I’m all about the bargains, but there’s always joy found in checking out the beauty behind the big brand name designers.  I haven’t looked through one of my favorite luxury retailers, Bergdorf Goodman, in quite some time, so I knew I had to take a quick visit.

Names like Emilio Pucci, Armani, & Oscar de la Renta are always on the tip of my tongue, especially when I’m looking at celebrities walking down the red carpet. However, when I was searching on Bergdorf Goodman, those legendary names in fashion came to mind & I had to seek some jaw-dropping designs.

I discovered the off-the-shoulder lace dress ($2695.00) by Emilio Pucci & was floored by the beautiful cut, flattering scalloped neckline, & sexy length.  This is a daring dress that I’d love to see a star like Blake Lively, Elizabeth Banks, or Minka Kelly in for a movie premiere.  The color is rich, perfect for standing out on a red carpet & making all the best dressed lists.

The exaggerated cowl-neck sheath dress ($1355.00) on this Armani stunner is a show-stopping look.  The deep jacquard print screams high fashion, perfect for pairing with pointed black pumps or strappy red platforms.  A look like this would dazzle on celebs like Charlize Theron, Rihanna, or perhaps shortened for Eva Longoria.

Because there’s always room for some sparkle, I picked Oscar de la Renta‘s sequined metallic dress ($4650.00). It’s perfect for any shape, especially with the flattering belt.  There’s no doubt that this hefty price tag is worth the perfection on the model, especially when this would look amazing on stars like Nicole Kidman, Diane Kruger, or Kirsten Dunst.

For more luxury indulgence, check out my previous posts in Super Style Wishlist, where you can find designs by Michael Kors, Lela Rose, & Monique Lhuillier! Happy Styling!

Super Style Wishlist: Lela Rose’s Spring Dresses @Bergdorf Goodman!

I’m crazy for spring dresses & can’t stop looking at some of the beautiful designs by Lela Rose @Bergdorf Goodman.  Of course these dresses are way beyond my budget, but they’re still amazing to gawk at.  They range in price from $1295.00 to $2295.00, but styles with laser cut lace, polka dots, a-line skirts, or peplums are on my Super Style Wishlist.

These looks include the Belted Jacquard Dress ($1895.00), Dress With Crystal Embroidery ($1595.00), Lace-Detailed Dress ($1295.00), Floral-Print V-Neck Dress ($1895.00), Polka-Dot Swingy Dress ($2295.00), Striped Sheath Dress ($1395.00), Floral-Print Faux-Wrap Dress ($1295.00), & Gathered One-Shoulder Dress ($1395.00). They’re perfect for a fancy spring brunch, moonlit wedding, or outdoor cocktail party.

For more fabulous designer duds, check out dresses from White House Black Market, Jennifer Lopez in Casadei & Michael Kors, & wedges from Neiman Marcus! Happy Styling!

Super Style Wishlist: Jennifer Lopez Breaks Out In Neon Michael Kors & Casadei!

The latest season of American Idol is in full swing & Jennifer Lopez is stepping up her style every time she’s photographed.  At a recent press event in Brazil, the multi-talented celeb hit the red carpet in one of spring’s latest trends: neons. She stepped out in a stunning Michael Kors crepe crewneck dress ($1995.00), which is available at Bergdorf Goodman.  She paired the figure-flattering sheath with Casadei silk pumps ($677.00), from Far Fetch.

I’m featuring these in Super Style Wishlist b/c the combination is just too stylish to be true.  Of course the price tag is way out of reach for Style Darlings on a budget.  Jennifer has been a big fan of the designs by Michael Kors for years, & if you’d like to check out more creations worn by the Project Runway judge, check out links to Macy’s, Net-A-Porter, Nordstrom, & Neiman Marcus.  Happy Styling!

Luxury Look-Alikes for Less: Encrusted Belts By Lanvin @Bergdorf Goodman Vs. An Under $5.00 Find From Charlotte Russe!

Do you need something special & embellished in a belt for this holiday season?  Well, check out these two belts!  Of course, nothing can compare to the luxury & craftsmanship behind the Lanvin label, one that is celebrated by actresses like Emma Stone, Natalie Portman, & Charlize Theron.  However, the price tag for a piece from the legendary brand is way out of budget, along with most of the other fashionable items sold @Bergdorf Goodman.

So in place of the crystal-encrusted clover belt ($1266.00) by Lanvin, here’s a much more inexpensive option that can be found @Charlotte Russe.  The black-gem stretch belt ($4.49) is currently reduced in price from $9.50 & will transform any sheath dress with some jewelry-inspired glamour.

For more Luxury Look-Alikes for Less, check out previous posts featuring embellished clutches, nude booties, & chandelier earrings! Happy Styling!

Super Style Wishlist: All I Want For Christmas Is.. Bottega Veneta Shoes!

I guess a little catalogue stealing never hurt anyone, did it?  Well, certainly not in this case! In what was just another day at the office, my always reliable Style Darling building-mate, Laurie, brought to my attention the most darling of footwear confections that I’d seen in a long time- well.  At least since I saw the 15th Anniversary Jimmy Choo Collection anyway!

Laurie (who knows my very Charlotte York-inspired style) spied these plaster canapa wool shoes ($820.00) by the brilliant Bottega Veneta & I haven’t been able to get them out of my head!  I’ve never wanted to wear white tights so badly in the fall, maybe with a Chanel dress with accessories by Lanvin! Like I always say, a Style Darling can dream, can’t she?

Maybe Santa will read my blog & bring them for me? I wouldn’t have to get any more clothes or shoes (well, not until spring) if these beautiful, Swarovski-encrusted luxury heels were nestled in my stocking on the mantle this year! Haven’t I been through enough to deserve them?

Perhaps in my search high & low, I will be able to find affordable look-alikes that will make my heart swoon in (almost) the same way.  If you’re looking to check out more from Bottega Veneta, check out sites like Net-A-Porter, Barneys, Bergdorf Goodman, & Neiman Marcus!

Anyway, what’s on your Super Style Wishlist this year?  Which designer collections are you looking out for? Happy Styling!

Super Style Wishlist: Valentino ruffle dress + Jimmy Choo booties & Lavin jacket = Chic!

I can’t help but fall in love with the fall / winter collections from all the latest designers, even though I’m on a serious spending budget this season, so mush so that spending more than $25 on jeans seems crazy! But a Style Darling can dream, right?

When I was snooping around Bergdorf Goodman, I became smitten with the red ruffled Valentino dress.  I automatically think about textured or patterned tights.  Of course the dress can do that when there are Sousan open work tights by Wolford just waiting to slip on ya?  These aren’t completely unattainable for $24.00, but you could get about 4 different pairs of tights for that much @Target!

I know every gal is mad for boots, but I’m more of a bootie / shootie fan.  The black mesh & suede platform booties by Jimmy Choo are universally stylish all season long, especially with skinny jeans, leggings, or a belted sweater dress.  Which brings me to the Alexander McQueen golden buckle leather belt…. it’s multi-functional for many different look & adds that extra bit of edge against something so soft & flirty.  When it starts to get cooler out, try on the Lanvin ruffled-collar jacket, of course made in Italy!  The shape is perfect for this dress & even helps a pair of pants look more lush!

For the final finishing touches, the Valentino Demetra leather-lace bag will set you back $2875.00, so I suggest making that mortgage payment & just sighing in the delicacy of its beautiful lace design… As for jewelry, I adore the gold Lana shoe necklace– perfect for any Style Darling! It’s just enough for the busy neckline & looks fabulous with basics like a button-down shirt & trousers.  If you want to make a look like this cocktail-ready, try a super fancy ring like Henry Dunay’s gold Sabi ring.  Stay away from wearing a necklace & earrings together, especially since the dress has a ruffled neckline, but the ring is an awesome choice, shining against the bright red color embracing your figure. And the grand total for this look is…. over $15,000.00!

Do you like this look?  Would you wear it?  Can you find inexpensive look-alikes?  Which piece is / pieces are on your wishlist?  What’s your spending limit on items like these?  Happy Styling!

Luxury Look-Alikes For Less: The Big Jewelry Post Featuring Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, & More!

Who doesn’t love fashion jewelry?!  For starters, the real thing is fabulous, but when you can find luxury look-alikes like these, who’s thinking about dropping some serious dough?

During my search, I came across these blue-stone hoop earrings.  One pair is $695.00 @Bergdorf Goodman, whereas the other comparable pair is sold @Kohl’s by the Candies label for under $10.  These are the perfect pop of color to bring out any eye color, especially with a boldly printed maxi dress, or if you’re sporting a ruffled blouse & skinny jeans for date night!  Next, if you’re looking for animal-inspired accessories, check out the Ikat bangle by Kate Spade from Neiman Marcus, however it runs $128.00, whereas the white leopard option is a mere $5.80 @Forever 21.  If you’re wearing solids like a sultry red, or a bright cobalt mini dress, here’s where animal prints work best in your accessories.

If you’re into two-finger rings, a la Gwen Stefani’s Rock Steady phase, check out what designers Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen have designed for their label, Elizabeth & James.  The sea urchin two finger ring costs $175.00 @Bloomingdale’s, but is comparable in the rock star chic sense to the Candie’s crystal two finger ring from Kohl’s for $11.20.  Lastly, I wasn’t intentionally looking to feature a second pair of earrings, but I couldn’t get over how similarly these drop earrings are & just had to make room for them! Between Nordstrom & Forever 21, both pairs show off gold tones, but vary in price from $4.80 all the way up to $262.00!  These are the perfect finishing touches on a look with upswept hair or a messy ponytail!

Check out our previous Luxury Look-Alikes posts for more great affordable ways to recreate these stylish finds!  Is there a piece that you’re looking for, but can’t find for less cash?  I can’t make any promises, but I’ll do my best to try & find it!  Happy Styling!
