My biggest style obsession this fall & really for 2015 is earrings, as seen in detail with my Instagram posts (Follow Style Darling Daily @MissAlissaL). I’ve rediscovered my love of the blingy accessory, especially since I’ve recently cut my hair, showing off my collection of studs, chandeliers, hoops, dangles, drops, front-to-backs, & jackets for the every day runway that is life. In an effort to save some cash, but still treat myself here & there, shopping for budget-friendly earrings has been my simple solution when it comes to transforming a look & when I’m in need of some retail therapy. Fabulous in 4 Ways: Floral Skinny Pants From H&M For Day, Date, Cocktail, & Weekend!

Just b/c the holidays are mostly over, it doesn’t mean that the glamour has to end. The latest trends in spring fashion are slowly, but surely emerging & this includes floral pants. They’re not just for springtime, especially when there are so many chic & cozy ways to dress up or dress down florals when the weather is still chilly outside.  I’d like to take a look at some celebrity inspiration to see how the A-listers are wearing this trend.

Kristin Cavallari shares her chic maternity style in Joe’s Jeans with a basic black top & blazer to offset the vibrant pattern.  90210 star Shenae Grimes adds some punk flavor to her Alice + Olivia cropped pants with strappy booties & a leather top.  Playing with the same idea is Minka Kelly, whose Dolce & Gabbana floral pants are enhanced by suede peep toe pumps & a bright rectangular clutch.  Singer Lana Del Rey plays up her demure style in Citizens of Humanity pants under her trench coat with embellished ballet flats.  Lastly, Twilight star Kristen Stewart sticks to her favorite designer, Balenciaga, for her micro floral printed pants, paired with a Rebecca Minkoff blazer & a Juicy Couture tank.

Kristin Cavallari, Shenae Grimes, Minka Kelly, Lana Del Rey, & Kristen Stewart.Even if we look to the runways for Spring 2013, you’ll find that there’s plenty of floral on the bottom. Floral isn’t meant just for dresses, skirts, or blouses anymore. It can be an unexpected pop of femininity or juxtapose more masculine pieces for day or evening.  For example, we’ve seen this in collections from Jason Wu, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Lela Rose, Paul & Joe, & Tanya Taylor. Here, complimenting colors in your floral prints can work to accentuate a factor of luxury in your look, especially when it comes to jackets, cardigans, scarves, & heels.

Jason Wu, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Lela Rose, Paul & Joe, & Tanya Taylor. The pants in question for today’s Fabulous in 4 Ways post are the floral pants ($24.95) from H&M. Not only are these an amazing bargain, but I’m convinced that these can be worn in a variety of ways to get the most out of your wardrobe basics for day, weekend, date, & cocktail hour.  These may be a little hard to pull off in the office, depending on what your work dress code is, but for the more casual environments, I recommend a cute blouse & pumps to make your look polished & professional.

First, for daytime when you’re running some errands or meeting with your girlfriends for a casual luncheon (á la Sex & the City), I recommend playing with the colors in the pants, including the ruched panel cardigan ($9.99) in gold from Dress Barn worn over the lurex lace bra cami ($14.99) in true white from Express. When floral pants such as these are the focal point of your look, you can play with textures to add interest, which is why I’ve selected the Kenneth Cole ‘Slip Me One’ flats ($29.97) in red @Piperlime & the easy metallic combo of Forever 21‘s beaded hoop earrings ($5.80).

Keep it cozy when it comes to a weekend look, if you’re headed out to a movie during the day with your beau & then sit by the fireplace eating Chinese food. Yes, that’s what I’d like my weekends to be, which is why I picked the striped sweater with oversized cowl neck ($34.96) in herbal mist from New York & Company to wear with the Brash Zoey riding boot ($39.99) in black from Payless. The mixture of stripes & florals has fascinated me for a while, so when you’re cooped up with your significant other in the house when the weather is on the frightful side, experiment with your looks a little to keep things fresh.  However, if you’re headed out, I love the mix of tassels with the patent textures in the daisy fuentes Gemini studded cross-body handbag ($29.50) in magenta from Kohl’s matched with a little more spring fever in the floral bangle set ($7.80) from Forever 21.

When it comes to date night looks, you always have to consider where you’re headed.  Floral pants may seem busy, but if accessorized correctly, they’re the perfect foundation for a sophisticated & smart look to impress your date.  I picked the teardrop cut-out blouse ($24.99) in black from The Limited, a piece that is sure to make the rounds with other wardrobe staples like a pencil skirt, boyfriend jeans, & leggings.  Of course in skinny pants like these, a pair of DSW‘s BCBG Paris Preena pumps ($29.94) in fuchsia will elongate the legline & won’t be as intimidating as some seriously pointy toe shoes.  For a special finishing touch, I love the colorblocked flap crossbody ($19.80) from Forever 21 & Mixit hematite stone tassel drop earrings ($4.00) from JC Penney.

For a cocktail event, pants aren’t necessarily the first thing to come to mind, especially when a dress is so easy to throw on with some snazzy earrings & killer heels. However, if you’re running around & don’t have time to get that go-to LBD dry-cleaned, you can rely on floral plants to build an evening-ready cocktail look, including the gem collar peplum top ($30.00) in aubergine from Topshop with a built-in jeweled neckline that helps accessorize your ladylike ensemble.  Also, I’ve added the Abrianna heels ($34.99) in bone from ALDO with the sparkling sequin hinge wallet ($9.99) in champagne from Charlotte Russe. Lastly, b/c there’s so much going on in the look already, I didn’t want to bog it down with extra bling, but here’s your opportunity to break out a really fabulous cocktail ring like the affordable stretch oval ring ($12.99) in orange from Target.

Do you own floral pants? Would you consider adding them to your wardrobe? How would you style them? For more styling posts, check out my affordable LBD look, statement rings for under $10, & how to wear a metallic faux leather skirt in 4 ways! Happy Styling!

The $100 Challenge: Revamp Your Accessories for 2012!

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays, Style Darlings! As we get ready for the new year, perhaps we’ve indulged in one too many sweets & some of our slimmest duds aren’t too forgiving.  In an effort to keep your wardrobe looking fresh, but still stylish without wearing baggy & unflattering sacks, why don’t we spend a little time on accessories, which always generally fit.  Of course, remaining budget-conscious for 2012 is important, but if you’ve been the lucky recipient of gift cards for this holiday season, then perhaps a little splurging is in order!

Not to mention that the newest installment to the fashion reality competition circuit, Project Accessory, recently wrapped its first season, crowning designer Brian Burkhardt the first winner.  So needless to say, accessories have been on my mind!

The bold blue mobile phone case ($3.95) from H&M adds a fun pop of color & will certainly make it easier to find your buzzing phone when it’s hiding at the bottom of your purse.  Speaking of bags, I know I only choose one here, but I do love the preppy feel of the suedette messenger bag ($27.80) in red & brown from Forever 21.  There, you can also find the set of 6 assorted headbands ($1.50), lacquered star studs ($1.50) in yellow, pyramid stud ring ($2.80), & glitter & mirrors bangle ($1.80) in hot pink.

Right now @Charlotte Russe, you can buy 2 belts for $15 & with this deal, I picked out the chunky glitter stretch belt ($9.50) & set of 3, the solid, shimmer, & braided belts ($10.50).  The assortment of textures & size will work for over & under cardigans, along with completing blazer looks!

If you’re a JC Penney shopper, then you probably know all about the rewards for being a cardholder, including earning points for discounts like $10 off a $10 purchase.. that’s like getting something for nothing!  I love the detail in the Color Craze stretch bracelet ($8.00) in black & gold, along with the elegant animal-inspiration in the scarf ($11.99).  Speaking of animal inspiration, @Macy’s, you can find the Style & Co. leopard print hoop earrings ($16.00) are 80’s-inspired, but still funky enough for a cocktail look & little splash of sass.

Lastly, I haven’t included any necklaces, but I think there’s something really interesting in the Apt. 9 gold tone textured link necklace ($10.00) from Kohl’s, which has been marked down from its original price of $20. The total for all of this comes to $100.34 before taxes, but if these are stores that you frequent, then you know all about the best deals & steals with coupons, discounts, & sales.

Where do you like to shop for new fashion jewelry?  Did you like the first season of Project Accessory?  Did it inspire any new accessories for your outfits?  Happy Styling!

The Stylish Five: Sale Finds @Topshop ($10 & Under)

It’s been a little while since my last post in The Stylish Five b/c of all the hype surrounding this week’s Emmy Awards, but here I am with five fun picks for $10 or under!

I was checking out the latest sale items @Topshop, when I realized that I needed to do some perfect price point product posting (try saying that 10x fast!).  So why not get ready for next summer with classic espadrille wedges in coral for $10.00?  They’re also available in pink stripe & red polka dot, to coordinate with an eyelet or jersey babydoll dress.  I’m crazy for belts this season (took me long enough, right?) & just love this lace & eyelet belt, which suffice to say, is no longer available, but still worth acknowledging b/c it was also $10.00, marked down from $50.00.  Sad face.

When we talk about investing in next year’s summer wardrobe, finding a delicate shirred jersey sundress in yellow like this for $10.00 is exactly what I’m talking about!  I know my friend, Stacey, will flip over the blue orchid headband for $6.00, a must for any Style Darling with an affinity for hair accessories. It’s all things whimsical & feminine to add to a paisley print tunic top or graphic tee / skinny jeans combo!  If you’re not a headband gal, then try these glass bead hoop earrings for $10.00.  They’re a combination of a classic hoop & drop earring, all in one!

If you’re a bargain hunter like me, be sure to check out my previous posts in The $100 Challenge to see how you can put together an entire look for $100! What’ your favorite Topshop purchase?  How much would you spend on end-of-the-season finds to prepare for next year? Would you wear any of these five picks?  Happy Styling!

Luxury Look-Alikes For Less: The Big Jewelry Post Featuring Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, & More!

Who doesn’t love fashion jewelry?!  For starters, the real thing is fabulous, but when you can find luxury look-alikes like these, who’s thinking about dropping some serious dough?

During my search, I came across these blue-stone hoop earrings.  One pair is $695.00 @Bergdorf Goodman, whereas the other comparable pair is sold @Kohl’s by the Candies label for under $10.  These are the perfect pop of color to bring out any eye color, especially with a boldly printed maxi dress, or if you’re sporting a ruffled blouse & skinny jeans for date night!  Next, if you’re looking for animal-inspired accessories, check out the Ikat bangle by Kate Spade from Neiman Marcus, however it runs $128.00, whereas the white leopard option is a mere $5.80 @Forever 21.  If you’re wearing solids like a sultry red, or a bright cobalt mini dress, here’s where animal prints work best in your accessories.

If you’re into two-finger rings, a la Gwen Stefani’s Rock Steady phase, check out what designers Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen have designed for their label, Elizabeth & James.  The sea urchin two finger ring costs $175.00 @Bloomingdale’s, but is comparable in the rock star chic sense to the Candie’s crystal two finger ring from Kohl’s for $11.20.  Lastly, I wasn’t intentionally looking to feature a second pair of earrings, but I couldn’t get over how similarly these drop earrings are & just had to make room for them! Between Nordstrom & Forever 21, both pairs show off gold tones, but vary in price from $4.80 all the way up to $262.00!  These are the perfect finishing touches on a look with upswept hair or a messy ponytail!

Check out our previous Luxury Look-Alikes posts for more great affordable ways to recreate these stylish finds!  Is there a piece that you’re looking for, but can’t find for less cash?  I can’t make any promises, but I’ll do my best to try & find it!  Happy Styling!

Luxury Look-Alikes for Less: Butterfly Rings!

Instead of posting a Darling of the Day, I’m going to take a break from celebrity styling (especially after the fashionably insane SAG coverage I just posted).  I’m so happy to present to you a little shopping fun with a luxury item & its much more affordable look-alike.  And yes, I’ve been groaning about the weather, now that I’m iced-in due to freezing temps, I have the whole internet to myself & a world of style to blog about.  Today’s items came to mind when I learned of Hailee Steinfeld‘s adorable hot pink lips ring by Solange Azagury-Partridge at the recent ceremony.  The actress is nominated for her supporting role in True Grit & critics in the fashion world are even pegging her as the next it-girl as the face of style, picking up where Emma Watson left off since shedding her Harry Potter image. Pack some punch with a bejeweled butterfly ring.  While one is a Couture Candy items for $225, another is $68.00 @Nordstrom, GUESS created one for $28.00 @Macy’s, & the least expensive is just as stylish for $6.80 @Forever21.  Click around to see which is which.  All are definitely fun cocktail rings, but sometimes a Style Darling on a budget can’t always splurge on the big item.  Any of these are perfect for a lunch out with the girls with a crochet cardigan & cuffed jeans, or can be worn with an LBD & hoop earrings for a special occasion!  Happy Styling!

1/29/11 Darling of the Day: Kerry Washington at Sundance!

At this year’s Sundance Film Festival, Kerry Washington brings winter casual forward with a jacket from Ann Taylor, Hudson jeans, ring from Lia Sophia, & Rene Caovilla clutch.  Her knee boots, hoop earrings, & lace  top are items that most of us have in some form or another, but here at the premiere of The Details, she shows us again her effortless & trendy style.  Nothing completes an outfit like a blazer, but the Lakeview Terrace star makes hers a little more special for evening. For more on Kerry’s chic sense of style, check out In Style, Cosmopolitan, & Fashion Indie!  Happy Styling!
