Accessories Access: Pom Pom Bags for Spring!

The world is our runway. This phrase couldn’t be truer. When a lot is happening in life, I sometimes feel stuck in my wardrobe, seeking something refreshing & exciting to recreate old favorites & discover new trends to move my style forward. However, inspiration is always just around the corner with every click & keystroke on different social media forums.

This spring is probably my favorite spring ever, possibly because so much in life seems to be aligned personally, & I’m also feeling more confident in my style. This knowledge has also informed my newfound respect & developing radar for how accessories can transform your look. While I’m experimenting most right now with separates (mixing prints & color combinations), I’ve noticed how the playful pom pom movement isn’t going away. This includes all sorts of accessories: bags, shoes, earrings, & necklaces. When so much of spring is about light layers & pastels, pom pom accents make a bold statement without being too over the top.

One easy way to embrace the pom pom is with a straw bag, which is perfect for the everyday Style Darling looking to try something different, as well as for a variety of occasions like a weekend away or luncheon with the girls. Sure, there are plenty of expensive designer options making waves in the fashion world, including selections by (above) Kate Spade New York, Rebecca Minkoff, Loeffler Randall, Alice + Olivia, & Nannacay. When seeking out this look, you certainly don’t have to break the bank since the following styles (below) range in price from $29.99 – $43.00.

SHOP: 1. bag @ASOS, 2. tote @Fayrouzy, 3. tote @Zulily, 4. bag @ASOS, & 5. tote @Stein Mart.

Runway Rundown: Lauren Conrad Gears Up For The Holidays with Paper Crown!

In a recent interview with In Style, Lauren Conrad describes her recent holiday collection for Paper Crown as “all about feeling feminine & festive.” During a recent appearance on Chelsea Lately, the designer modeled a long-sleeved lace mini dress which had my mind reeling b/c of its ladylike details & minimal elegance.

Take a look at the items, which range in price between $85.00 – $395.00 in stores like Nordstrom, Revolve Clothing, & Walk In Closet Boutique. Of cousre this is a way out of budget for me this season, but the effortlessness of these holiday looks that can be taken well into next year!  Happy Styling!

Super Style Wishlist: A Fashionable Fall Blend of Alice + Olivia, House of Harlow, & Much More!

Even though I’ve gracefully cancelled my birthday this year (tomorrow), I am going to showcase a very special edition of Super Style Wishlist with items that I actually really do want, although I wouldn’t ask my friends to spend this much money on me.  I spent a little time clicking around Revolve Clothing, an online fashion retailer that sells brands like Miss Sixty, Betsey Johnson, KORS by Michael Kors, & William Rast (just to name a few).

Since fall is just around the corner, I love the idea of mixing textures & playing with different patterns when it comes to sparkly tops & accessories like shoes.  Take a look at what I’ve put together for a stylish, but casual day look that could easily turn into a party with friends look.  I loooove the Alice + Olivia black sequin stripe top, which can be mixed with jeans for day, trousers for an interview, or a pencil skirt on a date.  Between the sequins & the stripe design, it’s not hard to bring out the glamour in your look if this is your top!  On bottom, I selected J Brand skinny twill pants in green (my favorite color). Colored jeans are soooo on-trend right now & you can find look-alikes at stores like Forever 21 & Delia’s.  Also check out a recent Darling of the Day post where Kerry Washington donned some skinny red jeans.

One trend that I love for this time of year is an animal print accessory & what better way to do that than with a peep toe pump by House of Harlow?  I love the very graphic look of this print, which gives animal inspiration a whole new & fresh feel.  The natural color in the shoes is what helps bring out the richness of other accessories too.  You can’t go anywhere without a functional tote these days either.  For example, take a look at the Foley + Corinna timber tote, which serves as both handbag & shoulder bag with two different handles.

Speaking of accessories, I’m in the market for some new jewelry & I love this multi-chain necklace by Belle Noel.  It’s dainty & edgy, adding some extra flair to my already polished look.  If you wanna take an outfit like this & get it ready for a last-minute night out, you gotta have one extra piece of bling.  That comes in the form of the large triple crystal ring by Low Luv X Erin Wasson.  The very deco feel of it can help transform any look for a cocktail party or a stylish drink with the girls. Even though it is a statement piece of jewelry, it’ll compliment the sparkle in the top!

Lastly, for when the afternoons start to get chilly, keep your look urban & a little bit preppy with a cotton duster by Free People.  It’s perfect to go over a sweater, blouse, graphic tee, or button-down shirt. To create a more fitted look, throw on a belt, but since there’s already so much going on with the color of the jeans & the animal print in the shoes, try a thin belt in a neutral color like black or taupe.

Your total for a look like this would come to… $1514.00! While all the pieces are super stylish & any Style Darling would be lucky to receive them as a gift, just imagine what you can invest your money in with that much cash?  Would you spend that much on this look?  Have you ever purchased from Revolve Clothing in the past?  Do you like this colored jeans trend?  What’s on your wishlist?? Happy Styling!

Nicole Richie‘s House of Harlow 1960 collection contains a wide variety of vintage & tribal-inspired pieces of jewelry, as well as other accessories & clothing by Nicole’s other line Winter Kate.  Both brand names are named after her daughter, Harlow Winter Kate Madden.  You can items from this line sold at high-end retailers like Revolve Clothing, Shop Kitson, & Shop Bop. Trends in these styles are very popular for the spring to pair with flirty florals & masculine plaids.  One of these rings costs $95.00 & the other is a mere $3.80 @Forever21. Take a look at the entire Fall 2010 House of Harlow 1960 jewelry collection, courtesy of In Style.  Also Forever 21’s entire jewelry line is just one click away, ranging from $1.50 to $24.80! Happy Styling!

Luxury Look-Alikes for Less: Renee Zellweger’s Golden Globe gown!

After this week’s Golden Globes, I started thinking about some of my favorite gowns from previous years.  Back in October, I posted a luxury look-alike of Renee Zellweger from back in 2000 when she won for Nurse Betty

This vintage sweetheart Jean Desses gown made all the headlines b/c of its gorgeous yellow hue.  The Oscar winner set the trend for wearing yellow on the red carpet- in January.  Stunners like Reese Witherspoon, Mariska Hargitay, & Angelina Jolie have since (& perhaps inadvertently) followed.  This look-alike (to the left) is still on the market for purchase! And if yellow is on your mind, check out these gorgeous yellow gowns!

If you’re determined to find a yellow gown, might I suggest some of these gorgeous accessories to add special touches of sparkle & splashes of glamour to the sunshine hue.  Break out some bling in silver or gold, which will definitely pop against a bright white.  There’s always the fun combination of yellow with red, like mustard & ketchup.  Here’s where a cocktail ring really comes into play.  If you’re going for a fierce bumble bee black & yellow theme, try bringing in your black with some glitter in a clutch.

Although there was no yellow at this year’s Golden Globes, all 11 years later, it’s one of those colors that always catches our attention.  Always cheerful & playful, yellow keeps appearing & as long as it’s fabulous, you can count on Style Darling to share it.  For example, check out a shoe search for a friend’s upcoming wedding shoes in yellow… I wonder what ever came of that search?  Keep a look out for some more Luxury Look-Alike posts about this year’s Golden Globe ceremonies.  I’ve already seen Mandy Moore & Sofia Vergara‘s gowns knocked off.  Maybe you’ll see them too!  Happy Styling!
