Cover Craze: Taraji P. Henson is Boss for InStyle’s January Issue!

Actress Taraji P. Henson is making waves not just in front of the camera as Cookie Lyon in Empire, but also on the big screen (of course, she did this in Hidden Figures too) with her new film out next year, What Men Want–a remake of 2000’s What Women Want starring Mel Gibson  & Helen Hunt). She’s not just the star of the comedy, but also serves as executive producer for the film. For In Style magazine’s January issue, Taraji also discusses in the article (read here) about being a single mom & her 20-plus year career & her connection to her fans, both nationally & internationally.

For the playful/Network-inspired photo shoot, Taraji plays with retro menswear pieces, including Michael Kors Collection (shop sweater here), Zara, Chloe, Dolce & Gabbana, Miu Miu, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Fendi (shop suit here), Bottega Veneta, Pomellato (shop bracelet here), Hermes, Tibi (shop boots here), Missoni, Rochas, Valentino (shop shoes here), & more!

Runway Rundown: The Finale Runway Looks From Season 2 Of Project Runway All Stars!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

It’s been almost a week since the season finale of Project Runway All Stars, where Season 9 designer & fan favorite, Anthony Ryan Auld, was crowned the winner, ahead of Uli Herzner & Emilio Sosa. Even though Uli was my personal favorite, I was very happy to see Anthony Ryan receive the accolade that he deserves. Courtesy of My Lifetime, I’m sharing a gallery of the final runway, featuring Anthony Ryan’s “Fine Line” looks first, followed by Emilio’s “Urban Plantation,” & lastly with Uli’s “Winter Wonderland.” This was one of the most exciting episodes of the season & I loved watching judges model Carolyn Murphy, Marchesa co-founder & designer Georgina Chapman, & American icon Isaac Mizrahi, sit with guest judges actress Liv Tyler & Missoni heir, Margherita Missoni.

Which were your favorite looks from the runway? Did your favorite designer win? Are you going to watch Season 11 of Project Runway this Thursday with new judge Zac Posen? For more from Project Runway posts, check out the looks from the graffiti challenge, the 10th anniversary Lord & Taylor challenge, the finale looks from Season 10 at Fashion Week, the runway from Anya Ayoung-Chee’s winning collection, & Dmitry Sholokov’s winning collection from Season 9! Style ABC’s (x3): G is for Gucci, Gossip Girl, & Gisele Bundchen!

is for Gucci, Gossip Girl, & Gisele Bundchen! In the latest edition of Style ABC’s (x3), we’re taking a look at one of my favorite brands (even though I don’t own anything by it)… Gucci is an Italian fashion house, known mostly for its leather goods, but as you can tell by the runway & red carpet shots below, the brand is nothing short of modern, elegant, & chic!

Jennifer Lopez was seen at this year’s Met Costume Institute Gala (check out the red carpet here) in a fuchsia cut-out dress with a floral shrug & nearly stole the spotlight from the hundred of other fabulously-dressed celebrities who attended the prestigious formal event.  In addition, Jessica Alba wore the one-shoulder sparkling blue fitted dress at an event for the brand.  Also, Bridesmaids star Rose Byrne dazzled at last year’s Emmy’s in a white & gold Grecian-inspired gown (for more on the ceremony’s red carpet, click here).

If you’re looking to score some Gucci goods, then you’re gonna have to either head to the Gucci online boutique, or do some digging of your own on sites like Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale’s (accessories only), Bluefly, or Amazon.

Do you fancy yourself a Gucci girl?  What’s your favorite piece?  How much would you spend on a Gucci item?  What’s your favorite red carpet look by the designer?  For more on Gucci’s runway collections, check out In Style‘s designer dossier!

Gossip Girl is certainly not the television show to watch for quality drama & dialogue, but it’s definitely made an admirable attempt to step into the much younger Manolo Blahniks of the small screen likes of the Sex & the City ladies.

Now, there’s so much I can say to describe the fabulousness of Blair Waldorf (played viciously by Leighton Meester) & her sometimes BFFrenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen (played by the legging Blake Lively) in terms of their preppy, bombshell, girl-next-door, meets boho style.  Blair & Serena are the main focus of the melodrama, but over the years, the show has dressed up Taylor Momsen, Jessica Szhor, Hilary Duff, Katie Cassidy, Kelly Rutherford, & Michelle Trachtenberg in big name designer labels.  Below are some of the best looks that I wanted to share b/c you can’t have a “G”-themed blog without mentioning the show.  For more dirt behind the duds, check out In Style‘s Gossip Girl Profile.

Who’s your favorite Gossip Girl?  Do you follow the red carpet feud between Blake & Leighton?  If you could step into one of the character’s closets, whose closet would it be?  Do you think that the upper east side gals are dressing age-appropriately?

Gisele Bundchen is the highest paid model & has been since 2004.  How could you figure otherwise when you see the gorgeous Brazilian wife of Tom Brady looking super fabulous not just on, but off the runway as well?!  She’s got veteran supermodels like Naomi Campbell & Claudia Schiffer in her corner, & had posed for brands like Dolce & Gabbana, Missoni, & Balenciaga.

SIDENOTE: Do you remember the little scene in The Devil Wears Prada right before Anne Hathaway emerges from her Stanley Tucci-guided makeover?  Emily Blunt is complaining about Anne’s character Andy & then the ugly duckling comes in & there’s Gisele Bundchen in a leather pencil skirt & readers saying how good Andy looks!  The part always makes me laugh, although I’m hoping Gisele’s acting aspirations end there.

Most recently, Gisele attended Morgan Freeman’s AFI Achievement Award & stunned fashion critics in the ornate pewter Oscar de la Renta gown with a stunning hot pink belt (image on the far right).  The (relatively) new mom has got her body back in shape, making men & women everywhere drool!  The former Victoria’s Secret model works a runway & red carpet like no one else!  I can’t wait to see what else she has in store!

Runway Rundown: Missioni Heads to Target!

I love Target b/c it has everything you need!  You can get your favorite shampoo, new sheets for your bed, the new Vanessa Carlton CD, & some serious style all in one trip to the store!  What’s even more special is that Missoni has recently joined forces with the mega department store to feature not just clothing in the famous chevron print, but home accessories like a tea set & other goodies like luggage!

Courtesy of In Style, the brand has released about 20 images of the goods which will be available in Target stores & online starting September 13th.  Prices as of now are not yet available, but be sure to check out their computer accessories, as well as vibrant scarves that can help make your fall an even brighter one!

Of course, this isn’t appearing on a runway any time soon, but isn’t it nice to know that Style Darlings everywhere can get their fashionable hands on affordable & luxury designs by brands that have hit the catwalks of Milan or Paris by just walking in to Target?

TIP: If you’re already a Target shopper, then you may already know that if you bring your recyclable bag (which only costs $1) during each Target visit, you can get .05 back on your purchase.  Also, if you have a Target credit card, for each use, you automatically get 5% off your purchase.  Every little bit helps!!

If you’re not familiar with the brand, then check out Joy Bryant, Kerry Washington, Sophia Vergara, & Nicole Richie wearing looks on the red carpet.  In addition, if you’re a big fan of Missoni, you can see runway collections from Spring 2009 up to this year, by clicking here. Happy Styling!
