Fashion Flashback: Singer Kacey Musgraves’ Most Stylish Looks for Her 34th Birthday!

One of my favorite singer-songwriters, Kacey Musgraves, is celebrating her 34th birthday today! Her music is a mix of country & pop, with plenty of hope, heartache, & humor that connect her to listeners to her inner most thoughts.

In addition to six Grammys & a still very bright career ahead of her, Kacey’s style is a mix of bombshell glam, country sparkle, & hippie chic. Kacey loves volume & texture in her looks, along with playing up her figure in bold neon & glowing pastel colors. Also, the singer kills in it suits, especially when mixing femininity with more masculine details. Take a look through the gallery below to pick your favorite from the “Justified” singer’s performances, red carpet appearances, street style, & more!

Accessories Access: Stylish Patterned Tights for Fall for Under $10!

I’m still all about summer right now, but the new fall fashions are everywhere. As I’ve been sorting & organizing my wardrobe to prepare for the upcoming fall semester, I find myself in need of a hosiery refresh, which is just in time to catch the last days of Target’s 30% off Clothing, Accessories, & Shoes discount through the Target app, which expires on Sat 8/20. I’ve hit add-to-cart on a bunch of black patterned tights by A New Day to keep my legs protected when the temperature drops, but my style high with a variety of prints to go with any outfit.

Try florals against solid separates or when colorblocking. Perhaps, going with menswear inspiration or something geometric would contrast a polka dot or brocade look for fall. Also, there’s animal print to consider which would highlight the dichotomy of edgy & soft when playing up an unexpected neon look for fall!

SHOP: A New Day tights available in sizes S-2XL in rose garden (on sale: $8.50), tile (on sale: $8.50), leopard ($10.00), viney floral ($10.00), polka dot (10.00), floral back ($10.00), airy floral ($10.00), & basket weave ($10.00).

As much as I love a black opaque tight for an extra busy look, I do recommend other solid colors & depths of opacity, depending on your style. With the extra 30% off, this is a deal on hosiery must-haves that you can’t pass up! Which pattern of tight is your favorite to wear? Where are you shopping for fall refresher items? 08/06/2022 Darling of the Day: Selena Gomez’s Glitzy Orange Sequin Set by LaPointe!

Maybe between Only Murders in the Building & Selena + Chef, I have a little girl crush on Selena Gomez, but who doesn’t? Really? The 30-year-old star continues to celebrate her glamorous arrival into the next chapter of her life while in Italy with rumored beau Andrea Iervolino, making a stylish & sparkling statement in a LaPointe orange sequin tank (shop here) & coordinating Bermuda shorts (shop here).

The look is glamorous, unapologetic, mature, & timeless for a young woman living it up in Capri, a celebrity hotspot as of late, & shopping at YSL. Additionally, the actress’s look includes slide heels (shop similar here), drop earrings (shop similar here), & Vintage Frames sunglasses (shop similar here).

However, finding an affordable & comparable look inspired by these LaPointe pieces is somewhat difficult (try Poshmark or Mercari for similar separates too), but if a shoulder-to-knee sequins may be a bit much for you, think about coordinating the sparkle with satin for a luxurious & comfortable outfit. I’ve selected the pieces below for inspiration, even though an orange set is hard to find for a budget. Also, keep scrolling for suggested accessories too!

SHOP: sequin embellished best top in orange @River Island ($56.00, available in sizes 2-14), Liangchenmei sequin sparkle cami in rose gold @Walmart ($17.49, available in sizes S-XXXXL), & Rachel Roy Erica satin tank top in orange @Walmart ($41.36, available in limited sizes).

SHOP: contrast sequin drawstring shorts in rose gold @Shein ($14.00, available in sizes XS-L), A New Day high rise satin pull-on shorts in orange @Target ($20.00, available in sizes XS-XXL), & satin paper bag waist tailored shorts in orange @Boohoo (on sale: $18.00, available in sizes 6-10).

SHOP: Rosemarie Collections double teardrop dangle earrings @Amazon ($22.99), square frame fashion sunglasses in black @Shein ($6.00), & A New Day Basil heels in brown @Target ($ 34.99).

About 15 years ago, I would’ve totally donned a look like this—which is not to say that it’s out of style; it’s just not my personal aesthetic. I can still appreciate it & applaud Selena’s fashion choices when it comes to neon hues & unexpected glam! When on vacation, it’s fun to express a different side of yourself to explore a new city or open yourself up to someone knew, all through style! What do you think of Selena’s outfit? Would you wear all-over sequins in a matching set like this? Is orange a color you gravitate towards for summer? 08/05/2022 Darling of the Day: Anne Hathaway’s Breezy & Coastal Gauze Glam in NYC!

As the temperatures rise, the need to stay cool & comfortable is much greater, but when you have places to go, finding a balance between the weather & your style isn’t always easy. However, Academy Award-winning actress Anne Hathaway effortlessly proves otherwise while out & about in New York City this past weekend. Opting for a minimalist cream, loose-fitting shirt & coordinating shorts, the WeCrashed star paired her look with a Barbiecore Valentino crossbody bag (shop here), Bulgari sunglasses (shop similar here), & Dolce & Gabbana sandals to shop & hail a cab.

To make this look your own with alternate pieces on a budget, especially if you want to play up the different muted tones of white, cream, or beige, depending on your style, the options are out there! Additionally, this outfit is so realistic & chic for all body types, which is why I’ve included the options below to wear when running errands, between appointments, or grabbing some coffee with friends:

SHOP: Let Me Adore You button front gauze blouse in ivory @Pink Lily ($48.00, available in sizes XS-3X), Calvin Klein roll-sleeve gauze button-down shirt in wheat @Saks Off 5th (on sale: $34.99, available in sizes XS-XL), & BB Dakota Oh My Gauze top in white @Amazon ($69.00, available in sizes XS-L).

SHOP: paddle short in white @J.Crew ($69.50, available in sizes XXS-3X), cotton gauze shorts in cream @Kacey’s Closet ($35.00, available in sizes S-L), & Universal Thread high-rise pull-on gauze shorts in cream @Target ($15.00, available in sizes XS-XXL).

SHOP: Patrizia by Spring Step Talitha sandal in white @DSW ($44.99), Blowfish Malibu Rose B sandal @Zappos ($33.55), & INC International Concepts Petria two-band flat in white pearl @Macy’s (on sale: $47.70).

SHOP: Juicy by Juicy Couture Crowd Pleaser crossbody bag in pink @JCPenney (on sale: $29.40) & tortoiseshell square-frame sunglasses @Old Navy (on sale: $7.97).

What do you think of Anne’s street style? Would you wear a loose button-down with matching shorts? What’s your go-to everyday look in the summer? Show Me the Shoes: Fancy Flowered Flats in Navy!

As I’m preparing to return to the office after almost 2 1/2 weeks off, my mind is racing with style inspiration for what I’ll wear! Even though I’m not teaching again until the fall semester begins, there’s still plenty of opportunity to explore summer work style & that starts with a cute pair of navy flats!

I’d purchased very plain faux suede navy flats from Old Navy years ago, which were staples for anytime I needed a pop of the darker neutral to complete a mostly blue look for work. Eventually, those flats were worn out, but I did order another pair. However, I dreamt of more special navy flats, something with flare to rank with my assortment of patent leather, lace, snake embossed, bowed, jeweled, laser cut, & studded flats in other colors. Navy just never seemed to have its moment—until I found the Ollio faux suede decorative flower pointed toe ballet flats @Amazon ($29.99, available in sizes 6-10 & in 6 additional colors).

I have an 8 medium foot, so these fit me perfectly for work when wearing a blouse & dress pants, wrap dress & cardigan, or if I am attending a special daytime occasion, these coordinate well with any spring or cocktail-length dress needing a navy companion. Unfortunately, the flats are not available in wide & some half sizes.

As fall fashion starts to poke its fashionable head into retail windows, these flats, in addition to the other jewel-toned green & mustard options, are on my mind & remain in an all-year rotation. What are your go-to flats for work or a special occasion? What pieces do you keep out for every day use? Fashion Flashback: Happy 46th Birthday to the Always Stylish Diane Kruger & 100 Times She Nails a Non-Gown Look!

When it comes to paying tribute to a celebrity’s red carpet history, I typically go straight to the major awards shows & movie premieres to capture gorgeous gowns that they have worn. However, birthday girl, Diane Kruger, is an exception. Even though her red carpet gowns are something to be marveled at, mostly because of how she styles & wears them, Diane’s aesthetic for ultra feminine rock ‘n’ roll with a vintage twist demands attention & admiration, especially as the German actress celebrates 46 rotations around the sun.

Diane is a designer darling, who can wear anything from a midi dress, mini dress, shorts outfit, menswear inspiration, and more, all while styling with unexpected extras, including an odd pop of color in the shoe, strappy sandals or ankle booties, or studded belts or fringe accents. I’m always excited to see what she will wear while attending a variety of events, such as runway shows fashion week, Vanity Fair’s Oscar party, an international film festival, & more. Ever since I started Style Darling Daily 12 years ago, Diane has been one of my favorite A-listers to watch out for.

Check out the gallery below to get to know more about Diane’s effortless, daring, and elegant non-gown style:

Fashion Flashback: Happy 50th Birthday to Sofia Vergara!

If there’s any celebrity wardrobe, for their red carpet looks & street style, that I’d want to steal, it’s Modern Family actress Sofia Vergara’s…EVERYTHING! She’s confident, feminine, sultry, & glam ALL. THE. TIME.

In honor of her 50th birthday today, let’s take a walk down style memory lane for the fashion designer, America’s Got Talent judge, & four-time Emmy-nominee’s best red carpet & street style appearances, celebrating her favorite go-to trends, including a mermaid gown, sweetheart or strapless neckline, peplum details, dramatic jewels, towering platforms, regal sparkles, cut-off denim, gorgeous day dresses, & effortless poise. Not to mention, her megawatt smile.

06/28/2022 Darling of the Day: Kristen Bell’s Neon Cropped Blazer & PVC Heels!

Neon is always the best way to go for summer, even when coordinating a professional ensemble. Additionally, monochrome neon makes a bold statement that not only turns heads, but inspires us to expand our work wardrobes & experiment in unexpected ways. For example, Kristen Bell knows all about neon, continuing her recent style reign while balancing the monikers: The Good Place star, We Are Supported By… podcast host, supermom, & now author of the children’s book The World Needs More Purple Schools. Recently, while promoting the book, Kristen was spotted in New York City in this neon cropped blazer & coordinating high-waist trousers, along with PVC sandals, round sunglasses, a Anine Bing handbag (shop here), & gold earrings.

While the cropped blazer bit may not be the go-to look for every professional Style Darling, it definitely inspires a new way to think not only about blazers, but also about the blouse that could pair underneath it. In an effort to recreate Kristen’s look, check out the below suggestions:

SHOP: 1. cropped suiting blazer in neon green @We Wore What (available in sizes XS-XL, sale: $59.25), 2. Silver Treasures 14K gold round hoop earrings in onyx @JCPenney (sale: $33.00), 3. retro round sunglasses in black @Sunglasses To Go ($11.95), 4. high rise pleated suiting pant in neon green @We Wore What (available in sizes 00-14, $79.00), 5. A New Day small satchel handbag in black @Target ($35.00), & 6. Wild Pair Zandria clear vinyl dress sandals @Macy’s (sale: $41.70).

Since the suiting pair had limited size availability, I expanded my search to include my plus-size readers who are interested & eager to jump on board the neon & green, finding some affordable, stylish options below:

SHOP: high low peplum blazer in neon lime @Rainbow (sale: $11.99), tabbed sleeve blazer in lime @Rainbow ($24.97), tabbed sleeve blazer in Kelly green @Rainbow ($24.97), & high-waisted flare pants in Kelly green @Rainbow (sale: $7.79).

All About Platforms with Jessica Alba!

Jessica Alba has always been one of my favorite celebrities to watch out for on the red carpet because several elements of her personal style mirror my own. She loves feminine, classic pieces, never straying too far into an architectural or modern aesthetic, but still appearing current & trendy. While the actress / entrepreneur has been promoting her new series L.A.’s Finest (also starring the always exquisite Gabrielle Union), as well as her brand The Honest Company, Jessica has been all about platforms. I couldn’t help but notice the chunky shoe under many of her dresses during her promotional tour, a choice that I would not personally make, but something I love to look at with her red carpet fashion, which has a very 70s & 90s glam vibe right now.

Below Jessica goes peachy in a Giambattista Valli Spring 2019 dress with beige patent leather platforms & an Alaia cropped shirt with a striped skirt in Jimmy Choo platforms.

Also, at the Monte Carlo TV Festival, Jessica wore an orange Silvia Tcherassi belted dress with a Mulberry bag & satin platforms. For her Honest Beauty Meet & Greet, Jessica looks heavenly in a Self Portrait midi dress with rust suede Salvatore Ferragamo platforms. For the budget shopper looking for trend pieces without breaking the bank, check out some of these affordable & stylish platforms out in stores & online now.

06/19/2019 Darling of the Day: Victoria Beckham’s Modern Neon Inspiration!

Victoria Beckham is always flawless. This isn’t news, but I just had to start there. The Spice Girl-turned-designer recently stepped out in what starts to look like a minimalist summer look with a white tee & black cuffed jeans, accessorized with classic pieces like a sleek black envelope clutch, pendant necklace, a chain link gold watch, & Celine sunglasses (shop here)… until you see the heels! They’re Balenciaga Square Knife neon pumps (shop here) that make a wild style statement, but it all works seamlessly, especially on Victoria!

Of course, this look would’ve worked with pink, orange, red, or really, any color heel. She could’ve surprised us all with neon ballet flats, which would have been equally successful & exciting to post about. I’m always finding new ways to mix up my favorite wardrobe items in my collection, playing with different colors & patterns to pop, which is why I love Victoria’s inspiration so much.

However, we all don’t have the kind of budget needed to recreate this high-end, luxury look… but have no fear! Because so many of the pieces are staples, they’re not hard to find without breaking the bank! Even imitation-inspired heels are available to peruse (in several other colors too) to bring Victoria’s posh style back to life!

SHOP: Prologue short sleeve crew neck tee @Target (available in XS-XXL), black straight jeans @Old Navy (available in 0-20), neon green high heels @Stylentol, ASOS DESIGN clutch @ASOS, tinted sunglasses @Forever 21, hammered pendant necklace @Forever 21, & gold pave square link watch @New York & Company.

Hats Off for Summer Beach Style!

What makes summer one of my favorite seasons of style is the accessories! There are so many options to choose from, especially when you’re headed out for a day on the boardwalk or getting away for the weekend. Totes, flip-flops, belts, & kimonos come to mind, but also, floppy hats are such a fun way to add some flair to your look, while also protecting your skin from the sun. Check out some summer floppy hat inspiration from stylish celebrities like Vanessa Hudgens, Freida Pinto, Miranda Kerr, Suki Waterhouse, Jessica Alba, & Jennifer Lopez.

Summer accessories don’t have to be an expensive investment either, especially when so many retailers offer a great variety of fashionable options, including classic floppy hats (& some with a twist).

Skirts! Skirts! Skirts! Why wear them? Well, there are so many versatile skirt styles & inspiration galore to be had. For spring, don’t just think about mini or denim skirts, there’s plenty of style opportunity when it comes to midi and maxi length skirts, especially when looking to transition your pieces from season-to-season. Skirts can instantly dress up a t-shirt, or turn a menswear-inspired look into something evening-appropriate. Check out the many ways to wear skirts on Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke, singer-actress Janelle Monae, Tokien star Lily Collins, Mrs. Nick Jonas herself Priyanka Chopra, Crazy Rich Asians breakout Gemma Chan, British model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, & designer extraordinaire Victoria Beckham (in her own design!).

Skirts in cotton, linen, or denim even make a great companion for dressier pieces to wear for the day. Spring is all about color & movement when it comes to what to wear. Now is the perfect time to embrace bold statement pieces & take a style risk! Experimenting with separates is a great way to find out how to get the most out of your wardrobe. Some of the affordable options featured below make for great contrast pieces to try with printed tops, classic button downs, as well as neutral staples for your glitzier wardrobe favorites!

12/17/2018 Darling of the Day: Jessica Alba’s Goes Gold!

Whenever I’m seeking out style inspiration from celebrities (on the red carpet or their street style), my mind immediately races with ideas on how readers (& myself) can make a look their (affordable) own. Style isn’t this inaccessible thing anymore since there are so many reasonably price retailers that look to high fashion sources for their own inspiration too. Hence my latest post featuring actress / entrepreneur Jessica Alba dressing down a gold sparkly blouse with a velvet blazer by Frame (shop here), frayed wide leg jeans, black suede booties, & a gold buckle wide belt. A blazer & jeans are two staple items that we all have in our wardrobe, which is why this look is so easy to recreate without breaking the bank.

To build this look, here are two essential pieces, which can also be mixed & matched with other items throughout the holiday season & during the year.

STARVNC sequin tank @Walmart & Thalia Sodi halter top @Macy’s (both available in sizes S – XXL)

faux suede ankle bootie @Forever 21 & Qupid Parma bootie @DSW

SHOP NOW! A New Day by Target!

Retailers are currently faced with the challenge to reach shoppers in a new & innovative way, while trying to remain relevant, especially when online shopping is so prevalent. The ever-popular Target is headed in a new direction with A New Day, or A.N.D., an in-house collection of apparel, shoes, & accessories for any female shopper. This is evident in the availability of sizes from XS – 4X, ranging in price from $8 – $49.99. The line is full of fashionable fall finds, including denim, menswear inspiration, street pieces, outerwear, & more chic separates that will take shoppers from work to weekend to days off in style.

The line hits stores just in time for back to school shopping on August 27th. It’s sure to make a stylish splash, especially when seeking trend items like pleated skirts, military jackets, & bell sleeve shirts. A New Day comes just in time for Target’s change in clothing too, since announcing the phasing out of popular, staple brands like Merona & Mossimo.

Will you be shopping this new collection at Target? What are your favorite pieces from the line? Do you shop Target for new fall fashion must-haves? Happy Styling!

Basics for a Bargain: A Ponte Double-Breasted Blazer, Inspired by Jennifer Lopez, Olivia Munn, & More!

I have to say, I’m not much of a blazer gal. I have a few & sometimes break them out for pictures, but cardigans are usually more my style. I tend to find that the structure & ungiving material of most jackets creates an uncomfortable & heavy feel all day long. However, I’m starting to see a big trend with blazers for this fall, which has got me rethinking my blazer game. A double-breasted ponte blazer is clearly the way to go for all looks professional & street wear, as seen recently on stylish celebrities like singer Jennifer Lopez, actress Olivia Munn, model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, blogger Olivia Palermo, & America’s sweetheart herself, Jennifer Aniston.

Now you don’t have to spend the kind of money that these celebs do (on brands like Balmain) for a chic, all-purpose & neutral menswear-inspired piece. The double-breasted ponte blazer @dressbarn is not only a new fall arrival, but it is available for shoppers in misses, plus, & petites sizes, from S-3X.

The big gold button trend isn’t going anywhere either to help accentuate your fall style. I’m seeing it everywhere, on sailor trousers & skirts, to blouses & dresses too! This particular stretchy jacket is great to mix with your favorite denim bottoms, a sleek pencil skirt, or leggings to create a chic athleisure look.

What’s your blazer philosophy? Do you like ponte pieces for the fall? How would you style a double-breasted blazer? Which celebrities do you think have the best street style? Happy Styling!

SHOP NOW! The Prettiest Stud Earrings for $5!

I. Love. Jewelry.

Obviously.

With that, I’m always on the lookout for a little something extra to add some sparkle to my daily look. More than statement necklaces (which might be hard to believe), I’m all about earrings. I have five piercings in each ear, so I’m always playing around with what I like to call either a cocktail or bouquet of studs to create a pretty & interesting design of earrings each & every day. These studs usually range in flowers, sparkles, stones, & other objects like fruits or animals to make a seriously stylish look a little more playful & humorous.

A pair of earrings that I recently discovered & love is the opaque shimmer solitaire studs @Charming Charlie. Not only are these amazing & versatile studs $5, but they’re available in 23 colors!

Which color is your favorite? Do you like to wear big statement studs? How would you style these earrings? What’s your budget for fashion jewelry? Happy Styling!

08/05/2017 Darling of the Day: Rachel Bilson is Neutral Chic in Denim!

Contrary to popular style belief, sometimes the most fashionable looks aren’t necessarily the fanciest. I’m of the mindset that style should exist on the daily & even on my most casual of days off, I take care of myself in the best way I know how—comfortably! Still, on those days, I have things to do like see my family or prepare a dinner date night with my boyfriend, so even if I give my face a break & go makeup-free, I like to put together an easy breezy outfit (comfy top & jeans perhaps) with unexpected twists (usually in the form of accessories).

Actress Rachel Bilson is showing her casual style with a combination of no-fuss neutrals with denim, heather gray, tan, black & silver during a sunny afternoon in Beverly Hills. Typically, one might not think these colors work together, but the Nashville / former Hart of Dixie / The O.C. it-girl knows how to style even the simplest seeming looks, especially with Old Navy’s $40 Rockstar skinny jeans! Earlier in the week, I featured Blake Lively mixing her high-low look with the same jeans in a darker wash!

SHOP: tee @JCPenney (shop plus here), jeans @Old Navy, sunglasses @Target, hoop earrings @Charming Charlie, satchel @Charming Charlie, & Trope sandals by Steve Madden @DSW.

Where do you like to shop for you favorite go-to jeans? Are you a fan of Old Navy’s Rockstar skinny denim? Which celebrity style appeals most to you? 08/02/2017 Darling of the Day: Blake Lively Embraces Hi-Low Style with Old Navy, Stuart Weitzman, Fendi & More!

This summer is a trendy season, where tops feature all sorts of the surprises like cold shoulders, off the shoulders, cut-outs, ruffles, pleats, & keyholes. The same goes for jeans with distressed details & that ripped effect. Trends come & go, however, a classic button down & a pair of skinny jeans will stand the test of time. Former Gossip Girl actress Blake Lively is proof of just that in her latest look while taking a stroll on Long Island with family this week. What’s especially inspiring about this outfit is that Blake combines the best of hi-low fashion in a pair of Old Navy‘s Rockstar skinny jeans with designer pieces from Stuart Weitzman, Fendi, Frame, & Jennifer Meyer.

SHOP: shawl collar button down shirt @Frame, Rockstar skinny jeans @Old Navy (available in sizes 0-18), Jennifer Meyer cross bar necklace @Ylang 23, Fendi minibackpack @Farfetch, & Stuart Weitzman pearl sandal @Nordstrom.

The jeans are easy to find in order to recreate this look for a Style Darling on a budget. However, I found pieces that recall the essence of Blake’s effortless style with embellished details & sophisticated accessories, all of which are perfect for a summer day off.

SHOP: shirt @Express, LC Lauren Conrad necklace @Kohl’s, plus shirt @Talbots, floral mini backpack @Forever 21, & pearl chunky sandals @GOjane.

Inside A Style Blogger’s Closet: Black & White Pattern Mixing!

When it comes to putting together an outfit, one of two things will happen for me. First, I’ll plan ahead of time for a special occasion what I’d like to wear to honor or celebrate whatever the event is—& I won’t budge away from that outfit idea. On the other hand, for day-to-day styling, I simply go by however I feel. I consider the weather, how long of a work day is ahead of me, where I’m headed socially, as well as how I’m feeling health-wise to measure how much I’m willing to fuss with a garment. While it might look like a lot goes into an outfit, sometimes spur of the moment ideas hit me & I’ve created something unique & detailed.

However, when I want to experiment with my wardrobe to try something new with staple items (usually a cardigan, belt, statement necklace, or dress), my instincts lead me to pattern mixing, which is just my kind of fashion risk & something that I’ve happily & successfully explored over the last year. I love discovering the result of pairing stripes with florals or animal prints with polka dots, as well as metallics with chevron, just to have some fun while reinventing old favorites in a new way. When taking a fashion leap just such as this, I make sure that accompanying items are subtle, such as a patent leather flat, black pant, or opaque tights.

Last week, I was inspired to play with some new fall finds from dressbarn, pieces that are also perfect for a cool summer afternoon too. As soon as I saw the black & white tiered floral blouse & diamond print ankle pants, I knew I loved them, but hadn’t immediately thought of putting the pieces together. A black & white color combination is possibly my favorite because of its timeless & clean vibe for any season. When I play around with mixing patterns, I always keep in mind that the best way to execute an ensemble is by keeping with the color scheme. I added an extra special touch to finish off the look with my older floral printed pointy toe flats (shop similar here), a classic denim jacket (shop here), & silver jewelry (shop similar here) since the busy patterns need neutral companion accessories.

Of course, either of these pieces can be styled in multiple ways. For example, the blouse would look cute with a  pretty pink cardigan & skinny jeans, but it can also be a flirty option for night with a blazer & leather leggings. The printed ankle pants are screaming for a pop of color with a bold yellow tank & cobalt heels, or with a red turtleneck for fall & embellished ballet flats.

For a little more black & white mixed print inspiration, here are a few more pieces in classic patterns like polka dots, stripes, floral, & houndstooth to get you thinking about all the ways to wear these two very versatile & chic colors.

SHOP: sweater @H&M, pants @YOOX, blouse @Maurice’s, & skirt @New York & Company.

Lastly, when seeking some style inspiration, I usually turn to Pinterest, which is where I can find some amazing red carpet & street style shots of my favorite fashionista celebrities who are experimenting on the daily, just like me, when it comes to mixing prints. Some admirable & professional pattern pushers are style icons Olivia Palermo, Solange Knowles, & Jamie Chung.

Look how each of these fashion forward ladies uses neutrals to play up the busier pieces of their outfits, while also offering a sense of balance among the stylish chaos of their outfits. Olivia uses a black blazer as a topper, as well as gold ankle strap heels for some glamorous edge. Solange is all about yellow with her handbag & cropped pants. Finally, Jamie’s gray booties & black heels complete her effortless looks.

Do you like to mix patterns in your outfits? What questions do you have about this risk-taking outlook? Which celebrities do you turn to for style inspiration? How do you feel about the classic black & white trend? Happy Styling!

Show Me the Shoes: Summer-Ready Sneakers for $10-$15!

Summer is all about no-fuss style. While I sometimes fuss & muss over what I’m going to wear in order to be comfortable when running from work to do some errands to going out with my beau, the temperature continues to rise. Effortless comfort is most important in the end, even when I want to wear a scuba dress & some wow-worthy high heels. However, what’s more fuss-free than a canvas sneaker? I know, some jaws might be hitting the floor at my mention of a sneaker here on Style Darling Daily.

I’ve never been much of a sneaker fan, only because I don’t find most sneakers attractive. I’ve owned the same one pair for years that I’ll break out for the occasional woodsy walk or hiking venture. Sneakers have an athletic function & not much of a presence in my life when I’ve found so many comfortable ballet flats that I can wear for work & while going about my daily routine. Aside from that, sneakers have just never equaled fashion to me… until now. Sneakers have taken on this whole new street style vibe, as seen on celebrities in Converse & tennis shoes, such as style icon Olivia Palermo, singer Rihanna, performer Dita Von Teese, as well as models Gigi Hadid & Karlie Kloss.

As a kid, I grew up wearing Keds-adjacent sneakers since the look-alikes at Caldor (remember Caldor?) & other bargain-centric stores were just more reasonable for my budget-conscious family. The white canvas material would only stay white for about a day until the remnants of nature, as well as the wear & tear of childhood stained the exterior. Honestly, I never quite looked back on that shoe style until today when I received an email from Payless about their latest canvas collection, featuring shoes in up to 17 different colors & pattern varieties, ranging in a limited time sale price from $10-$15, available in women’s sizes 5-13, with their summer-ready American Eagle Bal Sneaker.

When I ooo-ed & ahh-ed at these cute options, I began to imagine how to style these sneakers, especially with sweet & casual summer dresses. Of course, any of these dresses can be worn with wedges, sandals, or heels to add a little more dressy flair when headed out for a night on the town, but why not consider a sneaker if you’re going to the local carnival, on a sunset walk, or just enjoying a casual lunch with some friends?

This Westport belted denim shirt dress @dressbarn (available in plus) is just one of the many versatile denim options for the tan linen sneaker, especially when neutrals are just so easy & classic to style. Try this look with textured hoop earrings & classic bangles & you’ll be ready for anything!

The yellow-red combination might not be for everyone, but the primary color mix of the linen blend swing dress @Old Navy (available in sizes XS-XXL) with the bold red sneakers is a daring & summery way to play with color blocking, especially when paired with a denim jacket & layering necklaces!

White is the color of the summer & you really can’t go wrong with this ruffle off the shoulder dress @Express when looking at all the footwear possibilities. You could wear the purple eyelet or the dark blue stripe one day & then embrace the chambray polka dot sneaker the next! This look can be styled with some colorful tassel earrings & a basket weave belt too!

Some days, even in the summer, we just wanna wear black. Maybe it’s a New York thing, but here we can turn the dark hue into something playful & casual-chic with the plus cargo dress @H&M & the black eyelet sneakers. Try a gold chain choker & chunky ring to dress up the monochromatic look!

Lastly, use online coupon code 15CANVAS for an additional 15% off, expiring 07/09/17, because we could all use a little help when it comes to summer shopping! What’s your take on the summer sneaker-dress combination? What color combinations are you looking to try this season? Where are you shopping for your favorite footwear finds? Happy Styling!

Accessories Access: Pom Pom Bags for Spring!

The world is our runway. This phrase couldn’t be truer. When a lot is happening in life, I sometimes feel stuck in my wardrobe, seeking something refreshing & exciting to recreate old favorites & discover new trends to move my style forward. However, inspiration is always just around the corner with every click & keystroke on different social media forums.

This spring is probably my favorite spring ever, possibly because so much in life seems to be aligned personally, & I’m also feeling more confident in my style. This knowledge has also informed my newfound respect & developing radar for how accessories can transform your look. While I’m experimenting most right now with separates (mixing prints & color combinations), I’ve noticed how the playful pom pom movement isn’t going away. This includes all sorts of accessories: bags, shoes, earrings, & necklaces. When so much of spring is about light layers & pastels, pom pom accents make a bold statement without being too over the top.

One easy way to embrace the pom pom is with a straw bag, which is perfect for the everyday Style Darling looking to try something different, as well as for a variety of occasions like a weekend away or luncheon with the girls. Sure, there are plenty of expensive designer options making waves in the fashion world, including selections by (above) Kate Spade New York, Rebecca Minkoff, Loeffler Randall, Alice + Olivia, & Nannacay. When seeking out this look, you certainly don’t have to break the bank since the following styles (below) range in price from $29.99 – $43.00.

Splurge of Save… On Light Blue Suede Ankle Strap Sandals for Spring!

My goal, as of late, when it comes to my everyday outfits and sharing style tips on Style Darling Daily, is try something new. This includes combinations of separates that I hadn’t thought of previously, as well as only investing in special new additions that not only stand apart from other items I already own, but will also serve multiple purposes. I’ve realized that in the past, I’ve sought out dresses, shoes, & more that thrill me in the moment to add to my wardrobe, without considering their need in the long run. In order to better maintain my closet & finances, I’m being much more careful about how I approach styling.

With that, spring is underway & I’m trying to break away from my usual all-black or only black & white routine. Spring is all about soft, light colors, embracing pastels & brighter hues like nobody’s business. When I was recently perusing through my daily barrage of emails from my favorite stores, I saw a shoe trend that I just couldn’t stop thinking about. Normally, I’m not a trend chaser, sticking to what’s classic & works for my specific body type & daily needs. Ankle strap sandals have always been a little tricky. I haven’t been able to find a comfortable pair in recent years, though I’ve written much about the sleek & delicate style (here), but when I saw that so many different designers & retailers were pitching light blue suede ankle strap sandals for spring, my mind was racing with all the styling possibilities—with dresses, pencil skirts, cropped jeans, & so many more!

It doesn’t hurt to have a little celebirty inspiration when it comes to this particular shoe style, showing all the different colors & ways to wear them. This includes German starlet Diane Kruger, supermodel Kendall Jenner, Oscar-winner Emma Stone, blogger / actress Ashley MadekweOrange Is The New Black star Taylor Schilling, & pop star Rihanna
