Living in Style: A Sneak Peek into My Cloffice + Statement Necklace Displays!

Every time I search the web for blog inspiration, especially when it comes to affordable fashion jewelry buys, I am boggled by the fact that statement necklaces, circa 2010-2020, are not as prominently available as they used to be. However, my jewelry collection is certainly not lacking, but I can’t help it that I like shiny, sparkly bling!

Also, as I am finally able to have the chance to unpack—in my contemplative, soul-cleansing solitude—& organize my wardrobe collection in our spare bedroom, which I call my “cloffice,” I am finally unveiling all those packages that I ordered in the last two years since moving into my family’s first home together.

With my statement necklaces in mind, & the fact that if I don’t see an accessories option readily available invisible to me, I don’t wear it, I ordered 3 Juvale Grey Jewelry Display Stand / Headband Holder / Headpieces Showcase Organizer @Target (on sale: $18.99), sold by eForCity.

Now, nothing against headbands—which I don’t wear—but I wanted a way to display my statement necklaces in all of their sparkly glory. I ordered 3, not knowing exactly how many I needed, nor did I consider how much space the stands would take up as I began to sort through my jewelry. While I am only somewhat embarrassed to share that what is displayed below is a mere fraction of my statement necklaces, I am considering investing in a few more stands once the proper shelving is available in my cloffice.

For now, I am happy that my statement necklaces are glistening & glimmering atop a nightstand that has been “fashioned” into a partial bookcase. Additionally, all of the statement necklace is pictured above are three years old or older from stores like Francesca’s, New York & Company, Dressbarn, JC Penney, Icing, & Forever 21; otherwise, I would share some links! Furthermore, stands are sturdy, soft to the touch, & easy to assemble in 3 separate pieces that can be arranged to your preference. While summer is the best time to indulge in flip flops of all colors, textures, & materials, the season’s go-to shoe is always a sandal, which includes any kind of mostly open shoe. Lately, sandals have been all over: with wedge heels, block heels, platform heels, as mules, as ankle strap, as slingback, & more. When it comes to sleepwear, I am so picky, it’s almost embarrassing. However, I am all about comfort & coverage, no matter the season. As I started to recognize how overworn much of my pajama bottoms & loungewear clothing were getting during the pandemic—I was working full-time from home for 15 months. I decided to make the investment in go-to bottoms, especially for the warmer nights when I still prefer my legs be covered up.

The always reliable & affordable Target brand, Stars Above, proved the right choice with the Beautifully Soft Cropped Pajama Pant & now, most of the selection is on clearance. I bought 2 black pair & 1 navy pair. Not only are they comfortable to sleep in & easy to care for, they also double as acceptable loungewear bottoms if you have to run out for an errand or two or are spending the weekend home doing light chores or enjoying family time.

The women’s XS-XL styles in gray, black, & navy are currently limited in availability (on sale: $14.44), but they can also be found in plus (1X-4X) in gray, black, & navy with limited availability ($16.99).

One-in-every-color is at it again! This time, I’m obsessed–to my surprise–with the Time and Tru peplum hem t-shirt @Walmart for $12.98. I had ordered only the berry fun (pink) & black soot colors on a whim, but I’ve just added the other colors to my cart, although dark navy is not available in my size!

I was scrambling to get ready for my last day of work before a long-awaited vacation & knew that I had my favorite past-season black ankle pants & a stack of casual, weekend tops at the ready without the forethought from the previous night to pick out my outfit. Suddenly, with Barbiecore on the brain, I grabbed the pink version of this top, a long necklace, & patterned flats; along with my ankle pants, I was all set. It’s not very often that I use Time and Tru pieces for work, especially when my comfortable, weekend wardrobe is way more toned down. I was happily surprised with the final look & excited to share it with readers since the 6 colors are made in sizes XS-XXXL, although availability may be limited due to the end of the summer season rush in stores.

The modal/polyester/spandex material of this top is lightweight & the perfect blend of summer business casual Friday; however, this top must be ironed or steamed. Luckily, I had my hand steamer nearby when I was rushing to put myself together & the top came out as polished as I expected.

When it comes to summer, I always have an eye out for a cute tote bag to switch things up for the weekend or when preparing for a vacation. I don’t normally switch out my purse from season-to-season as I like to commit to an all-year-long neutral bag & then take something else special out for certain occasions. Summer’s Most Stylish Wristlet for $12.99!

I was recently in a situation where–gasp–I realized that I was not appropriately dressed for an event. My husband & I were going to a concert & even though my maxi dress & shrug combo were perfectly comfortable, rain was imminent & the weather was not about to stop us from going to the beachfront concert. It’s been a few days now that Facebook has been showing me sponsored posts about Betsey Johnson‘s Vandi pumps & each time I spot them, I take a moment to admire their femininity & flair. It’s a new year & a new Kate Spade with the newest ad campaign for the brand under Creative Director Nicola Glass. The stylish & bright brand embarks on their “optimistic femininity” by staying true to what’s classic & what works, with the message that women should stay true to their own story. Kate Spade has always embodied such an empowering vibe, but continues to do so with the help of Ozark‘s Julia Glass, If Beale Street Could Talk breakout star Kiki Layne, & Stranger Things actress Sadie Sink.

It’s hard not to smile when checking out these latest Kate Spade designs & the playful photographs taken by Tim Walker, who worked with the brand since the late Kate Spade was at the helm in 1999. The photos offer a fresh, vibrant, & young take on fashion, including the bold textiles, girlish jewelry, & polished accessories.

When in doubt, I always turn to accessories & jewelry for gift giving. It’s fun for me to shop through stacks & stacks of sparkly goodies, where I can always find a little something for myself too. However, with the days counting down closer & closer to Christmas, I’ve been curious about affordable stocking stuffers for our stylish friends. Jewelry is a perfect way to go, especially if you know someone’s style really well. When you find that special something, it’s hard to resist the spirit of gift giving! What’s especially great about my five latest picks is that the most expensive is $18, which works fro a budget-minded shopper.

The Anytime Party Flat (on Clearance)!

It’s no secret that when I find a style of something I looooove (like can’t-live-without-it love), I have to have it in every color / style. That goes for earrings, sweaters, skirts, & shoes–especially shoes! I’ve written about the Gigi flats by Christian Siriano for Payless previously (here), but now that I’m wearing these black & gold brocade shoes (for the first time, for a work holiday party), I’m shocked that they’re already on clearance for $12.00!

That’s an amazing must-have price for shoes that can really be worn for any special occasion. I will forever & always love me a high heel stiletto, but ballet flats have been tiptoeing into my heart for quite some time now & I feel no shame in wearing them. I’m not settling. I’m simply considering comfort along with style & with flats like these, I don’t have to sacrifice style one bit.

The only downsides (that I’ve noticed) is that not all Gigi styles are available in wide width, & also that the soft exterior probably won’t withstand wet weather. However, trying out a little pop of sparkle in the gold brocade will definitely add a splash of timeless sass for girls’ night out, an evening work function, or for just having a little fashionable fun.

Whenever I’m seeking out style inspiration from celebrities (on the red carpet or their street style), my mind immediately races with ideas on how readers (& myself) can make a look their (affordable) own. Style isn’t this inaccessible thing anymore since there are so many reasonably price retailers that look to high fashion sources for their own inspiration too. Hence my latest post featuring actress / entrepreneur Jessica Alba dressing down a gold sparkly blouse with a velvet blazer by Frame (shop here), frayed wide leg jeans, black suede booties, & a gold buckle wide belt. A blazer & jeans are two staple items that we all have in our wardrobe, which is why this look is so easy to recreate without breaking the bank.

Jennifer Lopez is the Prettiest in the Prettiest Pink Poof Dress!

Jennifer Lopez can’t do just one thing & I’m so glad for it. For her newest film, Second Act, she not only stars in & produced it, but also sings the power anthem “Limitless” (penned by Sia). She also directed the yet-to-be released music video (also starring her daughter Emme) & has taken the fashion world by storm once again at the New York City premiere of the film. She wore a breathtaking pink Giambattista Valli high low tulle gown (from the brand’s Fall 2018 Couture runway collection) with a train that rivals anyone else in gown train history (Priyanka Chopra… Princess Diana…) styled with silver accessories including a Judith Leiber clutch & Jimmy Choo platforms, as well as jewelry by Lorraine Schwartz. The play on volume & length in such a bold statement color only makes the dress more amazing to gawk at.

The ethereal design floated down the Fall 2018 runway & has now made history. Perhaps all those sparkly naked dresses are out & voluminous tulle dresses are in?

It’s no secret that I love a bauble & sparkle, but I’ve been hesitant to get on board the fringe earrings trend. That’s only because I typically wear my hair down with big earrings, so I’m concerned that the fringe will get tangled in my hair or the extra flair will simply get lost in my tresses. My Favorite Sequin Sweater This Season!

As I was gearing up to go back to work this fall, I’d been collecting gift cards from the summer & my birthday to prepare me for some new fall favorites & holiday must-haves. This includes the sequin sweater @dressbarn (shop plus size here). I ordered this sweater online & was actually surprised how soft it felt, how comfortably it fit, & just how pretty the sequin detail is on the cozy gray background.

While I’m all about the big statement necklace lately, I know I can rely on this sweater to do all the sparkling for me if I need something festive quickly. I have a multicolor pair of Kate Spade confetti stud earrings I’m waiting to pair with this sweater for either a glitzy weekend look with leggings & knee boots, or even to my office holiday party with a pencil skirt & embellished ballet flats. Because of the neutral gray background & variety of color in the sequins, the styling possibilities are endless!
