07/06/2022 Darling of the Day: Keira Knightley’s Summer French Girl Chanel LBD at Paris Fashion Week!

Two-time Academy Award nominee & Chanel ambassador Keira Knightley hit Paris Fashion Week‘s Chanel Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2022 Runway, sitting front row in a French-girl-chic little black dress by, none other than, Chanel.

Her return to spotlight is long overdue & demonstrates her consistent triumphant style, grace, & polish as she turned heads in an unlikely summer combination of velvet & Mary Jane heels (shop similar here). However, Keira nails the look, especially with bumper sunglasses (shop similar here), a quilted clutch (shop similar here), & elegant rings (shop here & here). See the photos below of Keira’s exquisite style, alongside her husband, James Righton, to inspire your next summer LBD outing.

Even though summer is a season all about colors & patterns, a little black dress for a variety of occasions is a timeless wardrobe staple, including these more affordable options to help a Style Darling live your best French-girl fantasy, whether you’re headed to a cocktail party, wedding, weekend brunch, or somewhere fabulous & fashionable.

Delpozo Fall 2015 Ready-To-Wear Collection.

Runway Rundown: Valentino’s Spring 2015 Couture Collection from Paris!

Valentino Spring 2015 Couture Collection.

When it comes to romance, Valentino‘s Spring 2015 Couture collection embodied the theme with inspiration from literature & art, including excerpts from Shakespeare & Dante, as well as paintings by Chagall. The evidence is clear in corseted dresses, tapestry materials, the flow & whimsy of chiffon, saturated neutrals, floral appliques, & caftan shapes. Clearly the Valentino woman is searching for love, adventure, truth, & beauty. The collection comes just in time for this weekend’s Grammy Awards, as well as the Oscars at the end of the month, with plenty of red carpet inspiration for loyal celebrities of the brand to pursue, including Keira Knightley, Amanda Seyfried, Jennifer Lopez, Emma Stone, Nicole Kidman, & Zoe Saldana.

Which look is your favorite from the collection? Who do you think would look gorgeous in any of these dresses? Do you like Valentino’s vision for romance on the runway? Accessories Access: Front to Back Earrings & Ear Cuffs, Inspired by Emma Stone, Lupita Nyong’o, & More!

One of the biggest jewelry trends to hit the red carpet, runway, & stores including dazzling ear cuffs & sophisticated front to back earrings. I’m crazy for earrings, especially because I have five piercings in each ear, but for those who don’t dare to go under the gun, an ear cuff is the perfect solution. Also, when a stud needs a little something extra, a front to back earring is both delicate & trendy.

Ear cuffs have been spotted & ogled on the red carpet as recently as this year’s Screen Actor’s Guild Awards & last year’s Met Gala. From the looks of Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence, supermodel Cara Delevingne, America’s sweetheart Emma Stone, & British beauty Keira Knightley, this look is here to stay.

Jennifer Lawrence, Cara Delevingne, Emma Stone, & Keira Knightley.

Also, when it comes to front to back earrings, Hollywood’s chicest celebrities wear them for day & evening occasions. This includes style icon Sarah Jessica Parker, actress Lupita Nyong’o, former House of Cards star Kate Mara, & red carpet regular, Emma Watson.

Sarah Jessica Parker, Lupita Nyong'o, Kate Mara, & Emma Watson.

Both jewelry trends can be obtained & styled to your heart’s content, especially for a budget shopper. Not only do they serve a date night outfit, but they can instantly dress up a daytime look with details like pearls, rhinestones, flowers & leaves, spikes, & flirty shapes.

Ear cuffs.

SHOP: feather cuff ($7.00) @Boohoo, pearl cuff ($12.00) @Nasty Gal, hoop ear cuff ($7.99) @MANGO, & rhinestone cuff set ($5.90) @Forever 21.

Red Carpet Review: The Best Dressed Of 2015’s #CriticsChoiceAwards, Featuring Angelina Jolie, Reese Witherspoon, Keira Knightley, & More!

Angelina Jolie, Emily Blunt, Felicity Jones, & Diane Kruger at the 2015 Crtic's Choice Awards.

Last night’s Critic’s Choice Movie Awards kept the awards season momentum going, with not just the celebration of fantastic performances on the big screen, but also with A-listers dressed to the nines, making a stylish splash on the red carpet. This includes some usual favorites like Angelina Jolie (in Atelier Versace), Amy Adams (in Max Mara), Reese Witherspoon (in Lanvin), Emily Blunt (in Emilio Pucci), Keira Knightley (in Delpozo), & Jamie Chung (in Yanina Couture). A lot of trends hit the red carpet, including whimsical white, as seen on Rosamund Pike (in Valentino Haute Couture), Marion Cotillard (in Dior), & Jessica Chastain (in Antonio Berardi), as well as black lace on Felicity Jones (in Dolce & Gabbana), Michelle Monaghan (in Elie Saab), & winner, Julianne Moore (in Saint Laurent). Making major style statements for the ceremony were nominee Jennifer Aniston who suited up in a crimson Gucci deep-v black & trousers, & the always perfect Diane Kruger in a printed Naeem Khan gown (as previously featured in the designer’s Pre-Fall 2015 Collection in Runway Rundown).

Which looks were your favorites? Who’s style stands the test of time? What was your favorite part of the show? Red Carpet Review: The 2015 #GoldenGlobes Awards, Featuring Jennifer Lopez, Emma Stone, Amy Adams, & More!

Anna Kendrick, Emma Stone, Naomi Watts, Lupita Nyong'o, Jennifer Lopez, Dakota Johnston, Kate Mara, Diane Kruger, & Kate Hudson.

The 2015 Golden Globes is upon us & already the show is an extravaganza in entertainment & movie madness. However, it’s the red carpet that has the fashion world buzzing, including some major trends in pops of color like red, cobalt, & yellow, as well as luxe metallics, plenty of cleavage from A-listers, pretty pastels, & dramatic ballgowns. Some of my favorite celebrities that hit the red carpet are Anna Kendrick (in Monique Lhuillier), Emma Stone (in Lanvin), Naomi Watts (in Gucci), Lupita Nyong’o (in Giambattista Valli), Jennifer Lopez (in Zuhair Murad), Dakota Johnston (in Chanel), Kate Mara (in Miu Miu), Diane Kruger (in Emilia Wickstead), & Kate Hudson (in Versace).

Other noteables are the always glamorous Reese Witherspoon (in Calvin Klein Collection), Jessica Chastain (in Atelier Versace), Kate Beckinsale (in Elie Saab), Allison Williams (in Armani Prive), Zosia Mamet (in Andrew Gn), Gina Rodriguez (in Badgley Mischka), & Amy Adams (in Versace). Who was your favorite on the red carpet? Which looks are you talking about the most?

Runway Rundown: The Michael Kors Spring Summer Ready-To-Wear 2015 Fashion Week Collection!

MIchael Kors Spring Summer Ready-To-Wear 2015 Fashion Week Collection

What better way to celebrate New York Fashion Week (#NYFW) than with some true American style brought to you by Long Island-native & Americana designer, Michael Kors & his gorgeous show for Spring Summer Ready-To-Wear 2015. I was taken away on a sunshine-filled & romantic adventure into his world, with the whimsy & crispness of the collection’s effortless throwback to the 1950s with cinched waists & fuller skirts. The Peter Pan-collar is certainly a big trend for spring, as well as easy neutrals with a pop of opulence, which can translate to daywear & party looks. Not to mention that these pieces are sure to hit the red carpet & editorials, attracting the A-lister likes of Blake Lively, Taylor Swift, Emma Stone, & Keira Knightley.

The following videos include a behind-the-scenes look at how the style comes to life through hair & makeup, an interview with the designer himself, as well as a dazzling runway presentation, sure to make any prepster or vintage queen giddy in their seats.

To shop for Michael Kors designs, be sure to check out retailers like Macy’s, Nordstrom, Dillard’s, Net-A-Porter, Neiman Marcus, & Harrod’s. However, don’t let the prices scare you off since the classic, clean looks from this runway are easy to inspire a budget shopper, especially with pieces like a staple button down shirt, a neutral leather belt, & dark denim separates.

Which looks are inspiring your wardrobe? What fashion shows were your favorites this season? What’s the best trend you’re looking forward to for spring? Runway Rundown: Watch Chanel’s Fall / Winter 2014-15 RTW Collection From Paris Fashion Week!

Chanel Fall / Winter 2014 - 15 REady To Wear Collection at Paris Fashion Week

It’s been another crazy week, both personally & professionally, but things are starting to look up. Thankfully, there’s Paris Fashion Week to keep this Style Darling a little bit perkier. The weekend red carpet wowed with stunning looks at this year’s Academy Awards, but what’s even bigger is the latest from Chanel that hit the runway across the pond.

Thanks to the above video from YouTube, courtesy of Chanel‘s very stylish channel, we’re able to gush & gasp at the lush looks, some of which have already been modeled by the likes of Rihanna & Keira Knightley. Aside from the waist-cinching, layered looks, fabulous faces like Cara Delevingne & Kendall Jenner were spotted strutting their stuff in support of Karl Lagerfeld‘s latest designs!

Which looks were your favorites from the collection? Have you been following any specific designers this season? What trends have you spotted on the runway? Happy Styling!

It’s resort season & Chanel has shared its 2014 collection! Full with a runway of nautical stripes, Gatsby-inspired strands of pearls, menswear separates, & plenty of black chiffon for the next major red carpet event. Karl Lagerfeld has certainly outdone himself once again, honoring the legendary of Coco Chanel herself, especially with regal touches like striped ties, cropped jackets, & lace overlay.

Take a look at the extensive 79-image gallery full of men’s & women’s fashions. Which is your favorite Chanel look? Once Upon A Time, starring Keira Knightley.

To mark the 100th anniversary of Chanel‘s first boutique, designer Karl Lagerfeld has cast Oscar-nominated actress Keira Knightley as leading lady, Coco Chanel, in a short film about the designer’s first outpost in Deauville, France. Once Upon A Time… will premiere on May 8th in Singapore, but will also be available for viewing that night on Chanel-News! Runway Rundown: Chanel’s Spring 2013 Haute Couture Collection!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

New York Fashion Week is underway, Nemo or no Nemo, & while fashion critics are braving the blizzard to see what’s going on for the ultra chic Fall 2013 Ready-To-Wear Collections, I wanted to share some of the best Spring 2013 Haute Couture Collections, including Chanel. I’ve previously featured collections from the legendary French brand, including the Fall 2012 Haute Couture Collection & the latest Pre-Fall 2013 Collection, which continuously prove the decadence of the luxury behind the Chanel empire.

This latest line follows suit with classic tweeds in washed pastels, as well as floral details, lace accents, uber-high peep toe boot leggings, & a mix of leather & feathers. While the head-to-toe runway looks are perfect for editorials & perhaps a promotional appearance for Lady Gaga, there are so many pieces that will certainly scream out to stylish celebrities like Alexa Chung, Blake Lively, Keira Knightley, Clemence Poesy, & Diane Kruger.

For more from Runway Rundown, check out galleries including Rachel Roy, Calvin Klein, Diane von Furstenberg, Lanvin, Donna Karan, & Narciso Rodriguez. Happy Styling!

Cover Craze / Watch This Style: Keira Knightley Conquers Marie Claire’s March 2013 Issue!

Keira Knightley for Marie Claire March 2013

Keira Knightley recently sat down with Marie Claire as the face of their March 2013 issue & the Oscar-nominated actress discusses her style icons, including the timelessly androgynous Katharine Hepburn, as well as fashionable literary figures like Leo Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina, who she recent played on the big screen opposite Jude Law. In addition, the oft-potty mouth Brit, shared her favorite wardrobe must-haves, as well as her anticipation for romantic & feminine spring trends. In addition, the actress is currently filming opposite Star Trek star Chris Pine in Jack Ryan, inspired by the Tom Clancy novels. Also, she’s recently wrapped Can A Song Save Your Life? with Mark Ruffalo, Hailee Steinfeld, & Adam Levine.

Cover Craze: December Issue Risk-Takers & Style-Makers, Featuring Keira Knightley, Rihanna, Anne Hathaway, & More!

‘Tis the season to take your clothes off for a magazine.. well, not really, but that’s what Rihanna (in AllSaints) & Keira Knightley (in Chanel) have both done for the December 2012 issues of GQ & Allure, respectively.  I love the idea of being confident in your body & loving your shape, however I’m not sure that’s the message that these two cover Style Darlings are sending, but I don’t publish the magazines. However, Catherine Zeta-Jones is keeping it classy for In Style‘s final issue of the year in a v-neck dress by Nina Ricci.

Also, I’m happy to share the latest from Vogue, featuring Les Miserables actress & recent Saturday Night Live host, Anne Hathaway who is looking every bit the movie star in Ralph Lauren, Taylor Swift making her 2nd appearance this month (see previous Cover Craze post) for Harper’s Bazaar & she’s talking about how hard it is to wear the same dress twice, & the always ladylike Jennifer Hudson, who’s appearing in the 2nd season of Smash, for Redbook. Happy Styling!

Runway Rundown: Banana Republic’s Anna Karenina-Inspired Collection Arrives October 30th!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

My anticipation for Anna Karenina has extended beyond Style Darling in that I’ve been writing about it for Movie Buzzers, tweeting (@MissAlissaL) as many spoilers as possible, & even sharing images from magazines on Instagram. We’re one step closer to the film, which premieres on November 16th, with the inspired collection for Banana Republic. I started talking about this back in July, which is when the trailer first hit the internet & earlier this month, I featured 8 new movie posters for the romantic drama. Stars Keira Knightley, Jude Law, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Alicia Vikander, & Kelly Macdonald were lucky enough to be dripping in luxury with the film’s costumes, but now, Banana Republic’s upcoming collection offers a modern take on the Russian decadence.  The gallery, courtesy of In Style, includes both women’s & men’s look, ranging in price from $29.50 – $250.00, & will be available in stores for purchase on October 30th! Happy Styling!

Cover Craze: W’s 40th Anniversary Calls on Scarlett Johansson, Rooney Mara, Keira Knightley, & Mia Wasikowska!

I’ve been posting a lot recently about the latest in magazine covers b/c they just keep getting better & better as the months go on.  I’m a former subscriber to W, but still love to check out what the high-fashion periodical is up to.  The magazine is celebrating its 40th anniversary & have shared the beautiful faces of Rooney Mara, Mia Wasikowska, Scarlett Johansson, & Keira Knightley on four different covers, representing each decade. Rooney is donning Prada for the 1970s, Mia looks neon in Balenciaga for the 1980s, Scarlett is goth in Dolce & Gabbana for the 1990s, & Keira looks polished & golden in Chanel for the 2000s.  Which cover is your favorite? What do you think of W‘s choice of actresses to grace each cover? Happy Styling!

Silver Screen Style: 8 New Posters For Anna Karenina Starring Keira Knightley!

Back in July, I posted the trailer for one of the most anticipated movies of the year, Anna Karenina, starring Keira Knightley as the lead, in a decadent reimagining of Leo Tolstoy’s classic novel.  It’s one of my favorite books & I can’t wait to see it on the big screen- not to mention all the circulating buzz behind the fashion in the film.  Banana Republic has created a line inspired by the film’s ornate, luxury costumes & now, we have 8 new posters (see below) which show off director ‘s various ways that love exists in the period piece.

Also, if you happen to be in London at the end of the month, you will be able to get a first-hand look at the gorgeous costumes, designed by Jacqueline Durran, from the film at the Victoria & Albert Museum, as a part of the Hollywood Costume exhibit.

The film, which also stars Jude Law, premieres November 16th, perfect timing for the upcoming awards season.  Are you going to see this movie? Do you have any interest in seeing Keira play another dramatic period role? Happy Styling!

Cover Craze: Six Fabulous Mags Featuring The Faces Of Emma Watson, Britney Spears, Gwen Stefani, & More!

I couldn’t decide which October 2012 issue to feature in my next Cover Craze post, so I searched the web for a bunch of covers, which helps cover a lot of bases. Anyway, I’ve just about finished filing through the heaps of pages from the ripe September issues & can now start sorting through what October has to bring, especially considering the fact that we’re nearing the official start of fall this weekend! I’ve selected only 6 October issues so far b/c this is what I’ve received in the mail & I’m still super anxious to see what’s going on with In Style, Shape, Harper’s Bazaar, & Allure.

Be sure to check out Nashville star Hayden Panettiere on the cover of Women’s Health, where she talks about how she’s dealt with the rise to fame from child star to leading lady.  Also, get your girl friends together for a gossip session when you’re looking at the very umm… informative issue of Cosmopolitan with New Girl actress Zooey Deschanel on the cover, looking all sorts of adorkable, as always. I’m loving Emma Watson‘s grown out pixie cut right now & that she’s taking some very youthful, but elegant fashion risks in her article for Glamour.  Did anyone see her on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon promoting her new movie, Perks of Being a Wallflower? Adorbs!

For the season fashion mag reader, Keira Knightley continues her reign as period drama princess while talking about her latest film, Anna Karenina, as the role of a lifetime for VogueGwen Stefani proves that she’s still got it for Marie Claire, baring her abs (two babies later!) while No Doubt preps for their long-awaited comeback. Check out the music video for their latest single “Settle Down” here! Lastly, Britney Spears puts her pout to good use with the help of some stylists for Elle, showing off a combination of some pop / rock star style & talks about her latest gig as a judge on X-Factor alongside British grump, Simon Cowell.  Which magazine cover is your favorite? Who do you turn to for the best advice on fall fashion? Happy Styling!

Designer’s Best: Coco Chanel’s 129th Birthday Is Today & She’s Never Been More Fabulous!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

When I was sifting through my Twitter feed (@MissAlissaL) this morning, I was surprised to learn that today marks the 129th birthday of the one & only Coco Chanel.  The blogosphere is a embracing the day with #CocoChanelDay attached to every tweet, so I thought that today would be the perfect day to debut my latest category here on Style Darling, Designer’s Best. I’ve searched high & low to find some of the most fabulous looks by Chanel that have been worn by some of our favorite celebrities like Alexa Chung, Blake Lively, Emma Stone, Jennifer Aniston, Katy Perry, Sarah Jessica Parker, & many more!

Of course there are thousands more images to appreciate when celebrating the Chanel legacy, so check out Karl Lagerfeld’s “The Tale of a Fairy,” behind-the-scenes footages from Keira Knightley’s Coco Mademoiselle commercial, & Chanel’s denim-inspired nail polish! Also, I would love to share with readers some of my other favorite Chanel-related articles that are featured exclusively for today including Elle‘s “Looking Back: Coco Chanel”, “Coco Chanel Birthday: The Design House’s Signature Look Throughout The Years” from The Huffington Post, & Vogue’s “Honoring the Life of Coco Chanel!” Happy Styling!

Silver Screen Style / Watch This Style: Keira Knightley’s ‘Anna Karenina Trailer & Banana Republic-Inspired Collection!

It’s not a secret that Oscar-nominated actress Keira Knightley is fond of making period pieces, especially with director, Joe Wright (Atonement).  However, when the news came out that the British siren was going to star in a remake of Leo Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina, I was super excited since the novel is one of my favorites of all time.  I’ve been following the production of this film on Movie Buzzers, covering all the casting news & now, not only has the official trailer hit the web, but costume designer Jacqueline Durran has told WWD that she is creating a collection inspired by the film for Banana Republic.

What’s curious about this collaboration is that the classic Russian drama is set in the late 19th century, however the BR line will feature a ’50s feel with a historic twist on blouses, coats, furs, jewelry, & accessories, ranging in price from $29.50 to $250.00.  Durran describes her vision for the film & capsule collection as “a once in a lifetime experience. I was given the chance to apply my passion for period styles to a collection that translates to fashion today.” The line is set to debut in stores in October & audiences can revel in the fashionable film when it hits theaters November 2nd.

Jessica Chastain is one of my favorite new up & coming actresses, especially after her performance in The Help. However, at the festival, the actress (who has SEVEN films coming out this year) appeared at the premiere of Wild Salmone in a  cap sleeve backless gown from Elie Saab with very delicate diamond accented jewelry.  During a photo call for the film, she went with a bold red dress to bring out her red bangs, with nude platform heels.  She even took home an award for Outstanding Artistic Achievement wearing a one-shoulder black Gucci resort gown with satin heels.

Dark Horse star Selma Blair showed off her post-baby body in two of the seasons most fashionable colors.  First she showed off a demure red caftan gown by Lanvin and followed it up with a bright emerald Roland Mouret dress with patent leather heels.  Gwyneth Palrow supported Contagion in a belted tangerine Prada dress with floral Nicholas Kirkwood peep toes.  The Oscar winner was stunning in a blush Prada gown with a Cipria Raso clutch & Bvlgari earrings.

Last time, we saw a lot of the festival’s darling, Abbie Cornish, but here she is again in a paneled pullover & navy trousers with peep toe heels.  Doesn’t she look like a younger mix between Charlize Theron & Maria Bello?! Then this custom-made colorblock gown by Gucci with clutch & pumps by Roger Vivier might just be my favorite look from the entire event!

Keira Knightley kept her movie star look in a Orla Kiely Resort 2012 navy shirt dress with gold buttons.  She accessorized her daytime look with Ralph Lauren sunglasses & Tabitha Simmons ‘Evie’ camel loafers.  For the red carpet, she choose a gold & beige long-sleeved Valentino couture gown with nothing but a part down the middle & pink lipstick!

Last, but not least Salma Hayek-Pinault made an appearance at the 2011 Gucci Award For Women In Cinema event, wearing a gorgeous crystal-embellished Gucci Première gown with a simple clutch & Old Hollywood updo.  Madonna also continued her sunglasses-at-night look, but showed up in a 40’s-inspired, black georgette long-sleeved evening gown with a metal & gold belt by Gucci.

Who do you think has stolen the spotlight at the Venice Film Festival?  Which of the selected films are you most looking forward to seeing?  To keep up with all the best red carpet looks, check out all posts for Red Carpet Review.  Happy Styling!

Red Carpet Review: 2011 Venice Film Festival Featuring Kate Winslet, Abbie Cornish, Madonna, & More!

At this year’s Venice Film Festival, the stars walked the red carpet, made appearances at screenings, & promoted their films in pure style.  There were some very exciting style surprises, as well as back-to-back hits on the red carpet.  Menswear inspiration, minimalism, vintage Hollywood, & sleek separates were among the trends dominating the fashion world right now. Among these stars were Marisa Tomei, Kate Winslet, Diane Kruger, Madonna, Keira Knightley, Cindy Crawford, Bar Rafaeli, Abbie Cornish, & Evan Rachel Wood.

Marisa Tomei, co-star to George Clooney & Ryan Gosling in Ides of March, was colorful, wearing a sheath dress by Erdem, an embellished top with an orange Preen skirt, & a pearl-accented neon yellow draped Marios Schwab gown.  And then there was Kate Winslet, the unofficial spokesmodel for chic.  The Carnage star wowed in a mocha Victoria Beckham dress with strappy Jimmy Choo sandals.  Then for day, she chose a classic LBD with a gray blazer, thick-strapped sandals, & House of Lavande‘s Panetta gold & diamante bracelet.  She once again stole the show in a stretch cotton multi-colored Stella McCartney dress with drop earrings & peep toe pumps at the Mildred Pierce premiere.  Then for another day event, she kept her all-black ensemble simple with a tank, shorts, a blazer, & the same peep toes!

Younger up and coming stars like Abbie Cornish turned some heads with this ombre silk organza tiered Atelier Versace stunner.  For a more movie star-esque day look, the W.E. star continued to earn raves in this Elie Saab a-line LBD with polished touches of gold in the House of Lavande choker.  Abbie isn’t shy when it comes to print either, as we can see in the keyhole maxi dress while attending the Venice Film Festival’s Movie Star Lounge.

Also making a splash, especially with the menswear trend was Evan Rachel Wood who’s shown above a whopping four times, just like her Mildred Pierce co-star, Kate Winslet.  She suited up in an outfit by Dolce & Gabbana with Salvatore Ferragamo houndstooth pumps (which I just drooled over on the Nordstrom website, for $950.00!).  Then she brought new meaning to shirtdress with this flowing white Alessandra Rich design with jewel-studded black ankle strap heels.  Then she returned to her black & white suit look, but with a vest over a feminine white blouse with some serious black Christian Louboutin pumps.

Diane Kruger stepped out in a textured Chanel dress with a matching striped clutch, but kept her German-girl-next-door look with a messy side braid.  Then she stepped up her look in this Grecian-inspired cascading nude Elie Saab bustier gown.  Madonna also made an appearance in support of her directorial debut, W.E., wearing a black & white L’Wren Scott dress with a gold cross & platform pumps by Yves Saint Laurent.  To show that she’s still got it, Madonna choose a custom-made butterfly-embellished Vionnet dress with Miu Miu sunglasses for the film’s premiere.

Also, Keira Knightley stepped off a gondola in a printed Mary Katrantzou dress for a photocall for A Dangerous Method.  Cindy Crawford proved that you don’t have to be a movie star to look like one in one-shoulder Roberto Cavalli gown with Chopard jewelry.  And last but not least, model / actress Bar Rafaeli opted for a lace-paneled jumpsuit by Emilio Pucci.

Who do you think was the best dressed during the festival?  Did Madonna get it right with all those butterflies?  Was Evan Rachel Wood too bland in black & white?  Do you think Kate Winslet stole the show?  Check out our last Red Carpet Review post with a look at The Help‘s Jessica Chastain & some of the best looks from the Cannes Film Festival back in May!  Happy Syling!

Basics for a Bargain: Black Round Toe Pumps like Keira Knightley, Lauren Conrad, & More!

And so it seems that even though it’s fabulous to wear crazy high strappy heels or cut-out shooties, sometimes it’s the basic black pumps that really do the trick for your look.  Like every woman should a little black dress, every woman should have basic black pumps for every occasion from formal (like Keira Knightley wears in satin with a stunning short dress by Chanel), for work (as seen on Malin Akerman in a black blouse & high waist pencil skirt) to cocktail (for example, Lauren Conrad wearing a blue dress by BCBG Max Azria) to casual (well, sort of like the always stylish Rihanna in a menswear-inspired look of a white jacket & black pants).  These celebs find comfort & style solace in turning to a classic favorite of rounded toes with or without a platform.

Showing off textures like leather, patent, suede, or velvet, luxurious basic black is an elegant and sexy way to complete your look with every step. Of course in this case, by affordable, I mean $30 or under, especially when compared to brands like Christian Louboutin or Salvatore Ferragamo.  These pictured styles are from stores like Forever 21, Payless, Aldo, Mandee, AMI Clubwear, & GOjane.

More great outlets for bargain footwear are Victoria’s Secret, Charlotte Russe, Wet Seal, Zappos, & Love My Shoes. If you’re still looking for some style inspirate for your black pumps, check out Dianna Agron at this year’s Grammys in Vivienne Westwood, Natalie Portman at last year’s Gotham Awards, Kirsten Dunst at the Tribeca Film Festival, Emma Roberts at the Sucker Punch premiere in leather leggings, Eva Longoria in a dramatic Ashi Studio minidress, Michelle Williams at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards, & Scarlett Johansson in a bright Oscar de la Renta party dress.  Happy Styling!
