It’s been a crazy month & I’m in between trips, trying to catch up on the latest & greatest fashion & pop culture news from around the world, all while bopping to “Blurred Lines” in the car! What stories are circulating on your Twitter feed? Which stars have caught your attention this week? Happy Styling!
We’re barely two weeks into November, but already the 2012 covers for the hottest magazines have hit the web & I have a jam-packed post here, featuring ten must-have & must-see issues from here in the United States, as well as abroad. This includes a much-talked-about Britney Spears on the cover of Lucky (airbrushed much?), Cameron Diaz repeating the Chanel cocktail dress that Emma Stone wore back in June for Elle UK, Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence in Balenciaga for Elle, Dakota Fanning for InStyle UK, Australian actress Isla Fisher sharing her fitness tips for Women’s Health, Oscar-winner Marion Cotillard for Harper’s Bazaar UK, singer Nicole Scherzinger for Marie Claire UK, Selena Gomez going glam for Glamour, Taylor Swift breaking away from her good girl look for Cosmopolitan, & a showering Scarlett Johansson for V magazine, promoting her latest role as Janet Leigh in Hitchcock.
Which cover is your favorite? Which magazines are your go-to sources for all things fashion & style? Do you check out international magazines too? For more from Cover Craze, be sure to check out W‘s 40th anniversary issue, Rihanna for this month’s Vogue, & the top picks from November 2012 issues. Happy Styling!
Even if you’re not a Gleek, you still need to check this out! Britney Spears has been making headlines as the latest new addition to X-Factor, but Glee is helping bring Brit-Brits music back to life, especially with Lea Michele‘s super sexy performance of “Oops I Did It Again,” which in my opinion is nothing compared to the original red pleather get-up that Britney wore in the song’s music video.
Check out this video, while Lea’s character, Rachel Berry, is trying to prove to her dance teacher, played by the smoldering Kate Hudson, that although she’s in her first year of college, she can still stand up on stage as a temptress. Check out the video & share your thoughts! Did you watch the Britney 2.o episode? Do you want to see Lea Michele more? Which is your favorite character? Happy Styling!
I couldn’t decide which October 2012 issue to feature in my next Cover Craze post, so I searched the web for a bunch of covers, which helps cover a lot of bases. Anyway, I’ve just about finished filing through the heaps of pages from the ripe September issues & can now start sorting through what October has to bring, especially considering the fact that we’re nearing the official start of fall this weekend! I’ve selected only 6 October issues so far b/c this is what I’ve received in the mail & I’m still super anxious to see what’s going on with In Style, Shape, Harper’s Bazaar, & Allure.
Be sure to check out Nashville star Hayden Panettiere on the cover of Women’s Health, where she talks about how she’s dealt with the rise to fame from child star to leading lady. Also, get your girl friends together for a gossip session when you’re looking at the very umm… informative issue of Cosmopolitan with New Girl actress Zooey Deschanel on the cover, looking all sorts of adorkable, as always. I’m loving Emma Watson‘s grown out pixie cut right now & that she’s taking some very youthful, but elegant fashion risks in her article for Glamour. Did anyone see her on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon promoting her new movie, Perks of Being a Wallflower? Adorbs!
For the season fashion mag reader, Keira Knightley continues her reign as period drama princess while talking about her latest film, Anna Karenina, as the role of a lifetime for Vogue. Gwen Stefani proves that she’s still got it for Marie Claire, baring her abs (two babies later!) while No Doubt preps for their long-awaited comeback. Check out the music video for their latest single “Settle Down” here! Lastly, Britney Spears puts her pout to good use with the help of some stylists for Elle, showing off a combination of some pop / rock star style & talks about her latest gig as a judge on X-Factor alongside British grump, Simon Cowell. Which magazine cover is your favorite? Who do you turn to for the best advice on fall fashion? Happy Styling!
The weather is slowly, but surely changing & I know that I’m loving the warmth that my fur-hooded down jacket is providing, but I’m also looking for something a little softer, but affordable to add to my slim outerwear collection.
I love the cooperative toggle coat ($29.99) from Urban Outfitters, which has been reduced from its original $129.99 price. While only sizes Medium & Large are currently available, this is the kind of coat that can get a lot of use from January to March, especially here on Long Island.
I’m not always a fan of the toggle look, but here the leather details & tooth-like toggles add some texture to an otherwise basic wool winter coat. This is also the right length to wear over a leggings outfit, or even if you’re running some errands after hitting the gym. I’m also a big fan of the bright color b/c it adds a nie pop of personality to your ensemble, even if you’re having an all-black day.
I also posted a little celebrity-inspiration in toggle coats, featuring Amanda Peet, Rihanna, & Britney Spears showing off the many ways a coat like this can be worn. For more great sale items from Urban Outfitters, click here! Happy Styling!
Dolce & Gabbana‘s latest fall / winter collection is headed for the stars- seriously! While playing with classic silhouettes in pencil skirts, flowy blouses, & oversized blazers, the mix of the celestial black & white pattern stands out even more with sequins, lace, animal print, & fur. These are just a few of the very fabulous runway looks, courtesy of the official website. Even the separate items can be matched with dark denim skinny jeans, a bold tee, & colorful pointed tow heels & socks (as pictured). To shop for these items, head over to Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Net-A-Porter, & Saks Fifth Avenue. Which is your favorite? Do you think stars look juvenile or luxury?
But if the runway isn’t somewhere you normally hang, take a look at the latest fashion magazine covers & their stylish cover girls, donning star-themed dresses by the famed fashion house. This includes One Day‘s Anne Hathaway for Marie Claire, pop princess Britney Spears for Harper’s Bazaar, & everyone’s favorite Virgo, Beyonce for In Style!
And since this is a partial red carpet post… Over the last few weeks, we’ve seen a slew of celebs of all styles opting for astronomical-inspired looks, as opposed to the tradition go-to polka dots or a simple LBD for camera-ready events. First there’s Rose McGowan shows off her figured in a ruches sweetheart dress, Fergie isn’t afraid of color in the yellow & black mini, a very pregnant Jessica Alba wears a comfortable & elegant halter, Rosario Dawson plays with voluminous sleeves, Olivia Wilde sneaks around in sequins, Kim Kardashian isn’t afraid to wear curve-hugging stars during the dat, & Lily Allen is ladylike in a white coat & black tights. Lastly, Evan Rachel Wood & Solange Knowles take on this print in legwear, both pairing the pants with loose-fitting tops & a masculine black jacket!
