Red Carpet Review: Breathtaking & Bold Beauty, Hair, & Jewelry at the Critics Choice Awards, Including Julia Garner, Madelyn Cline, Kerry Washington, & More!

Last night’s Critics Choice Awards might’ve thrown cinephiles for a loop with the Oscar race, but the red carpet game was a head-to-toe win after win with stunning beauty, hair, & jewelry on the most acclaimed celebrities. Some of my favorites include Sadie Sink’s gentle waves, Madelyn Cline’s side part & statement earrings, Lily James’ bangs & winged eyes, Kerry Washington’s lush curls & drop earrings, Janelle Monae’s modern earrings & glossy lips, Niecy Nash-Betts’ EVERYTHING, & Cate Blanchett’s golden ‘do & earcuff. See below for more inspiration:

SHOP NOW!: Cozy Sweaters with a Spring Twist!

Of course, sweaters come in all shapes, patterns, & colors; we know they’re not exclusive to winter, but they’re definitely a go-to this season. If you’re looking for a sweater that seems to whisper springtime in that stylishly playful way that pastels do, check this out:

SHOP: Time & Tru long sleeve crewneck embroidery sweater in winter white & dark navy @Walmart ($22.98, available in sizes XS-XXL).

As much as the love the lightness of the white with the pink & blue details, I’ve got my eye on the navy to wear with various menswear-inspired navy trousers this season, especially as the spring semester is just around the corner. Either sweater can be styled with pants, jeans of all rises & cuts, as well as joggers or leggings.

How would you style this sweater? Would you dress it up or wear it casually? Do you prefer the white or the navy? SHOP NOW!: Classic Leopard Pullover Sweaters!

If you’ve been following my Instagram (@styledarlingdaily), I’ve been passionate observing Leopard Week, which is really a self-appointed theme for my wardrobe this week. However, most weeks, for me, include at least 1 leopard piece. If the lockdown during the pandemic taught me anything, it’s that leopard makes everything better. For today’s post, I’m sharing a trio of leopard print sweaters that combine the wild, vivacious print with a classic pullover style & chic buttons to pair with a professional, casual, & short look, depending on how you style it.

SHOP: JM Collection crewneck pullover sweater in red combo, northern lights, & new fawn @Macy’s ($49.50, available in sizes XS-XXL).

I’m a big fan of the blue since I already have plenty of neutral & red leopard pieces, but the blue really pops, especially against luxe materials that could work for bottoms. The following pieces can be mixed & matched with any of these sweaters, depending on where you’re headed & what your style is.

SHOP: high-waisted straight faux-leather ankle pants in black @Old Navy ($54.99, limited availability in sizes 00-30), high-waisted split-front pixie skinny pants in black @Old Navy (on sale: $25.00, available in sizes 0-30), & high-waisted denim straight-leg pant in navy @New York & Company (on sale: $47.97, available in sizes 2-20).

SHOP: Wild Fable leather moto mini skirt in black @Target (on sale: $18.70, available in sizes 00-26) & Grace Karin slim fit business pencil skirt in red @Amazon ($27.99, available in sizes S-XXL).

Which leopard sweater do you like the best? How would you style it? How frequently do you wear leopard? For more stylish posts, check out: Valentine’s style & accessories, versatile earrings sets from LOFT, & a houndstooth wrap for under $25! Happy Styling!

The Stylish Five: Lovely Valentine’s Pieces!

It still only feels like yesterday when I was toasting away to the New Year’s Eve ball dropping in Times Square (from the comfort of my living room couch), but onward & upward into 2023 we go! The thing about Valentine’s Day this year is to most importantly love yourself first & it’s never a bad idea to invest in pieces that make you feel just as sparkly or joyful as you already are! Here are 5 stylish pieces that I can’t stop thinking about, which means that it must be love!

SHOP: heart stud earring set @LOFT ($42.00, 30% off with code: TREAT).

I don’t know about you, but I haven’t stopped my standing ovation for Angela Bassett–not only for her history-making win for Best Supporting Actress in Any Motion Picture for her outstanding role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever at last night’s 80th Golden Globe Awards, but for her entire head-to-toe look. As soon as I saw her silver glistening Pamella Roland halter gown, I said, “That’s a winner’s dress,” & was right! Her Old Hollywood-inspired bob & gorgeous jewels made for a momentous night for both film & fashion, along with that of her stunning colleagues in the industry.

From shimmering cosmetics to fluffy lashes, sculpted hairstyles to flowing locks, & statement earrings to layered necklaces, the stars celebrated the night in the most stylish & sparkly way they know how. Some of my other favorites for the night included Margot Robbie, Lily James, Quinta Brunson, Jessica Chastain, Selena Gomez, & Sheryl Lee Ralph!

Fashion Flashback: The Memorable Short Dress & Pants Looks of the Golden Globes!

While I’m a major fan of the glorious ballgown on a red carpet, I’m always fascinated to study the non-traditional choices, which are becoming more & more the norm, including short dresses & pants / jumpsuits / tuxedos on female attendees. There are so many lists & galleries on social media & the internet recalling the best Golden Globe looks of all time, as well as the most extreme. However, let’s take some time to review the non-traditional, which are likely to appear on tonight’s red carpet for the highly-anticipated return of the controversial awards ceremony.

From mini to midi dresses, the red carpet is no stranger to short designs with some sparkle, structure, or volume, especially when making an elegant, playful style statement:

Gal Gadot, Jennifer Lopez, Reese Witherspoon, & Joey King in short dresses at the Golden Globes.
Reese Witherspoon, Kristen Wiig, Katharine McPhee, & Sarah Jessica Parker in short dresses at the Golden Globes.
Julianna Margulies, Heidi Klum, & Sarah Jessica Parker in short dresses at the Golden Globes.
Millie Bobby Brown, Elisabeth Moss, Halle Berry, & Sarah Jessica Parker in short dresses at the Golden Globes.

Pants looks come in all forms, on a deconstructed tuxedo, jumpsuit, & suit, imitating the dress look, but also playing with cut-outs, adornments, separates, & proportions. Black is the most popular option with a pants look, as seen below:

Maggie Gyllenhaal, Susan Kelechi Watson, & Laura Dern in pants at the Golden Globes.
Jennifer Aniston & Kyra Sedgwick in pants at the Golden Globes.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Taylor Schilling, Kathryn Hahn, Amy Poehler, & Octavia Spencer in pants at the Golden Globes.
Claire Foy, Lorde, Debra Messing, & Alison Brie in pants at the Golden Globes.
Rita Morena, Portia de Rossie, Judy Greer, & Evan Rachel Wood in pants at the Golden Globes.
Jeannie Mai, Jane Fonda, Elsie Fisher, & Sibley Scoles in pants at the Golden Globes.
Emma Watson in pants at the Golden Globes.
Julia Roberts, Emma Stone, Gwyneth Paltrow, & Alexis Bledel in pants at the Golden Globes.

Who wore your favorite skirt look? Do you think a mini dress is appropriate for such an event? What about the jumpsuits & tuxedos? Who pulled it off the best, in your opinion? Stay tuned for more Golden Globes updates to catch up on all the latest fashion & highlights from the night! For more stylish posts, check out: stylish earrings sets from LOFT, a fashion flashback with Cynthia Erivo, & quilted Time & Tru coats for $20! Happy Styling!

Accessories Access: Stylish Earrings Sets in Gold & Silver!

It’s a very rare occasion that I’m actually stuck with no idea what to wear, despite my plethora of options. When it comes to jewelry, I usually decide on the finer details the morning I am getting ready, especially for the work day ahead. Also, I have 5 piercings in each of my ears, which I fill every single “leaving the house” day & my collection continues to grow & sparkle. While I do love a long, dangly drop earring for a more dramatic look, my go-to for all 5 piercings is a stud. I love finding different stud sets so that the options coordinate together, but I also love mixing up new picks with some old favorites. For example:

SHOP: shooting star stud earring set in gold & silver @LOFT (on sale: $22.50 with code: TREAT).

What kind of earrings do you like to wear? Do you have multiple piercings that you style regularly? Where do you shop for the prettiest sparkles? Fashion Flashback: Happy 36th Birthday, Cynthia Erivo!

Emmy, Grammy, & Tony-winning actress & singer Cynthia Erivo celebrates her 36th birthday today! What an accomplished & impressive career she has lead, in addition to earning 2 Academy Award nominations. The British star is expected to wow audiences in the big screen, two-part adaptation of Broadway’s Wicked, playing the green, evil Elphaba, but it’s her flair for drama on the red carpet that I’m most excited to discuss. She’s a fearless, one of a kind lover of fashion, bold when it comes to patterns, proportions, feathers, silhouettes, towering footwear, & extra sparkle. Her red carpet signature is her long, adorned nails, which only adds to her already stylish & progressive aesthetic. Take a look at the gallery below of Cynthia’s most stunning red carpet looks:

I’m not much of a fan of wraps or capes in my daily wardrobe rotation, only because I’m usually already layered in a cardigan, but when heading to an outdoor affair in the cooler months or settling in for a long movie in theaters, a wrap or cape is always in hand. One such topper that’s an especially great deal & super chic pattern can be found for under $25:

SHOP: Time & Tru houndstooth print wrap @Walmart (on sale: $24.97, one size).

I love the neutral color combination, especially the styling possibilities with a button-down & faux leather leggings with knee boots, a bodysuit & wide leg trousers with stilettos, or a turtleneck with straight leg jeans & ankle boots.

Top 10 Best Dressed Stars of 2022: Florence Pugh, Sadie Sink, Jodie Turner-Smith, & More!

As 2022 comes to an end, let’s take a stylish look back at the most stylish & best dressed stars of the year! This list, in no particular order, showcases entertainers whose red carpet choices have pushed boundaries, made headlines, & furthered their stylish legacy!

First, actress Jodie Turner-Smith turned heads in a variety of bold, powerful, & modern looks, channeling old Hollywood with a futuristic twist. Most notably, the White Noise star dominated the Venice Film Festival red carpet. Additionally, she wore designer names to other star-studded events, such as Gucci, Christopher John Rogers, Christian Siriano, & more!

The 36-year-old British star can be seen next in the Jennifer Aniston-Adam Sandler comedy sequel Murder Mystery 2, which will surely invite more breathtaking style to the red carpet.

Next, Pam & Tommy star Lily James rose to a new level of bombshell that we hadn’t previously seen in such quiet, sweet period depictions the actress presented in Downton Abbey, Cinderella, or The Pursuit of Love; however, portraying Pamela Anderson in the Hulu miniseries showed the British leading lady’s sultry, dramatic, & mature style.

Whether she’s decked out in Valentino, Burberry, Roberto Cavalli, Versace, or Miu Miu, she’s constantly appeared on best dressed lists throughout 2022. Up next, Lily will be promoting the romantic comedy What’s Love Got to Do with It? & starting alongside Willem Defoe & Joe Keery in Finalmente I’alba. Also, Lily is nominated for a Golden Globe, so she’ll continue her style streak into 2023!

Academy Award nominee Florence Pugh is unstoppable on the big screen with such masterful performances in Don’t Worry Darling & The Wonder. Time & again, she’s proven her enduring, youthful, & dazzling sense of style on the red carpet, especially during her nipple-baring appearances. She’s not just another British star topping our list, but a force who kills it in Victoria Beckham, Valentino, Dior, Emilia Wickstead, & more!

There’s so much buzz about Florence, which is no surprise after she ruled the Venice Film Festival, British Independent Film Awards, 13th Governors Awards, & 66th BFI London Film Festival. For 2023, Florence has multiple projects in the works, including A Good Person, directed by former beau Zach Braff, & Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer.

It’s no secret that I adore everything that Cuban actress Ana de Armas wears. The ease with which she graces the red carpet is reminiscent of Grace Kelly…or dare I say, Marilyn Monroe?! The Blonde star is far from resting on the stylish path she’s forged as she’s nominated for a Golden Globe Award, which will surely present the opportunity to sport more Louis Vuitton!

The Oscar hopeful is currently I production opposite her Knives Out co-star Chris Evans in Ghosted & will portray a dancer-turned-assassin with Keanu Reeves in Ballerina.

One of 2022’s major breakout stars is Bridgerton actress Simone Ashley, who seemed to pop up everywhere there was a camera & red carpet, & for good reason too! Also, appearing on Sex Education, Simone pushes the line between elegance & temptress in designs by Giorgio Armani, Jacquemus, Moschino, Gucci, & Burberry, adding some much-needed fierceness & poise at every turn!

Also, Simone will be lending her voice to some upcoming animated productions, including 10 Lives, as well as appearing in the third season of Bridgerton.

Actress-turned director Olivia Wilde may have been splashed across headlines in 2022 for criticism of her relationships, but that did stop her from proving her style prowess every chance she had. While promoting the controversial futuristic thriller Don’t Worry Darling, as well as walking the red carpet of the Women in Film Awards, ELLE Women in Hollywood Celebration, 2nd Annual Academy Museum Gala, San Sebastian International Film Festival, or the Venice Film Festival, Olivia’s boho goddess gowns stunned.

Often going for a deep-v, long sleeves, or crop top, Olivia’s fashion was designed by YSL, Vera Wang, Alexandre Vauthier, Valentino, Gucci, & more! Up next for Olivia, she will direct Perfect about Olympic gold medalist gymnast Kerri Strug & can currently be seen in Babylon with Margot Robbie & Brad Pitt.

Stranger Things star Sadie Sink has not only ruled 2022 because of the hit sci-fi/fantasy Nextflix show as the brooding & tortured Max Mayfield, but the 20-year-old is gaining major attention for her big screen performance in The Whale, opposite Oscar front-runner Brendan Fraser. The Texas native sparkled on the red carpet, for press appearances, & on magazine covers, especially wearing unforgettable looks by Chanel, Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, & more!

As we’ve already seen from Sadie’s Stranger Things role & tour-de-force portrayal in Taylor Swift’s “All Too Well: Short Film,” her style is only getting better & she’s one to watch in 2023 with an upcoming role in Berlin Nobody opposite Eric Bana.

Next on our list is comedian, actress, & writer Mindy Kaling who took 2022 by storm via red carpet & her Instagram with confidence & a major style turnaround from what we’ve previously seen. Whether she’s presenting at the Emmy Awards, posing for photogs at the Met Gala, turning heads at museum galas, heading out to a boutique opening, Mindy is all about showing off her style & happiness in an array of classic gowns with bold colors & patterns for outfits that we’d kill for!

Some of the famous names she’s worn this year include Oscar de la Renta, LaQuan Smith, Tory Burch, Magda Butrym, & more! We can’t wait to see what Mindy has in store for us in 2023!

This year’s Oscar-winner for Best Actress was awarded to Jessica Chastain & she’s definitely not slowing down her style, nor should she! The gorgeous redhead continues her glamorous fashion streak in fitted gowns in hues across the rainbow & plunging mini dresses! The actress has previously been nominated 3 other time & she’s no stranger to the red carpet, having donned every style of ball gown for last decade & more! She’s true to who she is, taking risks in neon tones, but also playing with lace, feathering, & ruching, which suits her shape.

This year, Jessica was seen wearing a whole lot of Gucci! Currently, Jessica can be seen portraying country singer Tammy Wynnette in the Showtime miniseries George & Tammy, opposite Michael Shannon. Coming up, Jessica stars in Memory with Peter Sarsgaard & Mother’s Instinct with Anne Hathaway.

Last, but not least is Zoey Deutch, who stole hearts in the Netflix holiday romantic comedy Something from Tiffany’s, wearing looks inspired by the Tiffany & Co. signature blue box! The 28-year-old blonde certainly knows how to steal the scene & rule a red carpet in designers, such as Oscar de la Renta, Giambattista Valli, Valentino, Carolina Herrera, & more!

2022 was really just the beginning for Zoey, a natural Style Darling, but I can’t wait to see what she wears next. Some of her future projects include the comedy Most Dangerous Game with Glen Powell & the drama Hound.
