Accessories Access: How To Style The New Warby Parker Fall Collection!

New York Fashion Week (#NYFW) is upon us (certainly my favorite time of year), but what’s also exciting is to keep an eye out for the newest collections at our favorite & affordable retailers that don’t preview their designs on a traditional runway. I know when it comes to accessories, I generally lean toward scarves & jewelry, but one important & oh-so fashionable accessory for both men & women is a chic frame of eyeglasses- especially styles from Warby Parker‘s new fall line of eyewear. Hey, guess what? It debuts today! Sporting frames just because you have to is a thing of the past! However, a brand like Warby Parker is a long-awaited trendy gift for those of us with eyes needing assistance. I’ve been wearing glasses for over 20 years & was psyched when I was approached by the company to showcase the new styles right here on Style Darling

Warber Parker collection

In getting to know the brand a little better, I learned so much & was especially impressed with the company’s target unisex audience: “those who own their style, exercise their wit, & add life to the party. Personality is what makes a good pair of glasses great.” Not to mention that investing in one of these 9 new styles (in titanium & acetate), you’ll be investing ($95.00 for a single vision pair) in a good cause since Warby Parker donates a pair of glasses to someone in need with the help of their partnered non-profit organizations. Click here for more info on this very worthy cause!

When I got a good look at the promotional shots & different styles, my blog-ready brain was eager to pair up some of my favorite designs with outfits for various occasions. This includes a relaxed day look for when you’re running errands & an evening outfit, á la Zooey Deschanel‘s lovable character, Jess, on New Girl. Also, I must share my vision for wearing chic frames to the office, as well as when you’re headed out of town for a weekend getaway of luxury & style!

Warby Parker - Hardy Striped Pacific Day Look

My first outfit can be easily recreated with basic wardrobe staples so that the Hardy frames in striped pacific can be the star player. Keeping  a budget in mind, I choose a short-sleeve bike graphic tee ($14.99) in blue from JC Penney & Old Navy‘s flirt skinny jean ($22.00) in eyre. To top off the look, I love the luxe feel of the zippered faux leather moto jacket ($24.80) in camel from Forever 21. Additional accessories to finish off the outfit include the American Eagle ‘Boulevard’ brogue flat ($16.99) in cognac from Payless, Freemont zipper tote ($29.98) in black from Francesca’s, & the Jennifer Lopez textured concentric hoop drop earrings ($13.50) from Kohl’s.

Then switch things up in the evening with a blend of timeless pieces that can be mixed & matched with other separates, especially when paired with the 80s-inspired Coley frames in crystal. This includes the ‘Gorgeous Gems’ dress ($21.99) from Modcloth (now 70% off), cotton slub moto jacket ($39.00) from Dress Barn, & buckled faux suede booties ($29.80) in light grey from Forever 21. For some extra flair, since the Coley frames offer so much versatility, I styled the look with the Mossimo Supply Co. stud belt ($14.99) in grey from Target, a super cute novelty cat wallet ($14.95) in black from H&M, & lastly, Charming Charlie‘s fair & square earrings ($6.00) & big bash stretch bracelet ($10.00) in silver.

Warby Parker - Coley Crystal Night Look

For a professional & polished look when headed to work, I immediately thought of the Oliver frames in striped olive. The hue is spot-on for fall, & perfect for coordinating with neutrals like black, navy, chocolate, & charcoal. I was excited to style these frames with Dress Barn‘s solid cowl neck tank ($19.50) in olive, Jaclyn Smith’s tuxedo style knit jacket ($13.99) in black onyx from KMart, LOFT‘s ponte trouser pencil skirt ($69.50) in black, & DSW‘s Franco Sarto ‘Mumba’ pump ($29.94) in black.

Warby Parker - Oliver Striped Olive Work Look

Accessorizing when it comes to work looks can be tricky, especially when you want to impress your boss & colleagues, which is why I simply added the braided chain bracelet ($9.97) from New York & Company & the diamond texture full tights ($16.03) from Express. Both mixed metals & textured tights are staples for any fall wardrobe & allow for a sophisticated layered & interesting overall look.

Warby Parker - Annette Petal Tortoise Weekend Look

Finally, my absolute favorite new design in the Wary Parker collection is the Annette frames in petal tortoise, which immediately makes me think of spectacle-wearing icons of old Hollywood. These are perfect for the weekend look since they capture the playful side of any Style Darling. I started building the outfit with the patterned cotton shirt ($29.95) from H&M, Old Navy‘s sweetheart gray super-skinny jeans ($34.94) in mudcave, & the Rocket Dog ‘Sayla’ vintage worn boots ($49.95) in mushroom from Zappos. For such a minimal outfit, I wanted to dress it up with some elegant & effortless accessories, which is what a weekend look is all about. For example, the gauzy crinkled infinity scarf ($9.99) from Charlotte Russe works well with the colors in the shirt. Also, I haven’t shared anything with pearls & here’s my chance with the pearl hinge bangle bracelet ($34.00) from BaubleBar & Ann Taylor‘s modern pearlized triangle studs ($29.50) in gold.

And since we’re still on the topic of glasses, I wanted to share some more notable designs in the collection, for their shape, colors, & androgynous appeal:

The above styles include (clockwise, starting at upper left) Baxter Ti in sugar maple, Chandler Ti in English oak, Durand in whiskey tortoise, Greenleaf in woodgrain tortoise, Annette in striped sassafras, & Eli in crystal.

And if looking like a real life Clark Kent or the (insert your hometown here)-equivalent of Tina Fey isn’t enough, here are a few other incredibly attractive famous people to help inspire your frames fetish for fall! Whether you’re trying to recreate a vintage look, sport some menswear inspiration, or play with different trends, eyeglasses are a must-have, as seen on actress Anne Hathaway, musician / singer Alicia Keys, No Doubt frontwoman & fashion icon Gwen Stefani, R&B crooner Ne-Yo, mega hottie Ryan Gosling, & talented boy-next-door Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Quickie Darling Deal & Steal: Fast Food Makes For Fast Fashion!

I’ve hit a recent road bump in terms of blogging. My precious laptop has self-destructed & I’m very thankful to be working on a loaner computer, which means that I’m without some of my valued resources in terms of presenting images here, but I’m making due. With this, I’ve also found myself intrigued by the idea of sharing unconventional ideas using limited technology.

Anyway… I’d like to bring up the idea of fast food & fashion. When I took on a second job with less than pleasing hours, I knew I’d be hitting the drive-up more often than not, but now that I have a routine for myself, I’m steering clear of unhealthy foods for my meals. However, among Forever 21‘s newest arrivals there’s a trend happening that I’m not sure about, which is why I’m bringing it to my readers’ attention.

Forever 21 tees $12.80 - $13.80

Surely, there’s a certain demographic that can get away with tops like these, hence why they’re perfect for Forever 21. The fun hamburger muscle tee ($12.80), cheesy cropped muscle tee ($12.80), & French fries muscle tee ($13.80) are all things casual to wear with jeggings & a boyfriend blazer, a leather mini skirt & platform slingbacks, as well as with skinny pants & a knit cardigan.

I love to a good graphic tee, but my style calls for something feminine, perhaps with some metallic element, a nod to Paris or shoe shopping, or embellished with ribbons or rhinestones so that I can dress up an army green cargo skirt or get a chic daytime look out of printed jeans. However, how do you feel about the designs on these tees? Do fashion & food work together?

Quickie Darling Deal & Steal: Seven Must-Have Sale Items For Under $100!

Now that I’m in the throes of dual employment, it’s become clearer than ever to be conscious of what investments I’m making in my wardrobe. I always love to find end-of-the-season deals on sale, especially when they feel like brand new pieces the following year. However, I’ve been seeing a lot of cute separates & accessories that I’m eager to mix & match on these cooler spring nights, into the summer, & eventually include for some fashionable fall outfits. Making tiny purchases here & there are easy on your budget & can really change the way you reinvent old favorites.

Recommended sale items include Dress Barn‘s shimmer stripe sweater ($19.00) in silver, which is perfect for over a maxi dress with ankle boots, or how I recently wore it with leggings & sparkly ballet flats. Also, the Just Chic tee ($7.99) from Forever 21 is exactly what it advertises to be; try wearing this with leather skinny pants & a bold boyfriend blazer, or to dress down a peasant skirt & gladiator flats. I’m always one for a cute skirt, which is why I’ve included the striped jersey pencil skirt ($12.99) in blue from Old Navy. It’s casual enough to wear for brunch with a pullover & a denim jacket, but it can also be worn with a blouse & belted cardigan.

My favorite piece is the Drew dotted cuffed ankle pant ($22.49) from The Limited, which mixes spring’s trendiest fabric, chambray, with the always-classic polka dot print. These will pair well with a nautical-inspired top in stripes or a neon embellished blouse. Affordable accessories include the faux suede colorblock flat ($13.95) in red from GOjane, jewel drops diamondite stretch cuff ($9.25) from Claire’s, & the snakeskin embossed metallic skinny belt ($13.93) in ivory from Express.

The total for these pieces is under $100, ringing in at $99.60, which is quite the bargain! How would you style some of these pieces? What sale items are you eyeing? Fabulous In 4 Ways: An Old Navy Graphic Tee For Day, Weekend, Date, & Cocktail!

There’s so much going on in fashion right now & all of the latest spring styles have been hitting retailers, which means that it’s time to consider how you can revamp your wardrobe for the upcoming season. One trick that I recently experimented with was how to dress up a graphic tee for more than just a day look, which is the inspiration behind my latest Fabulous in 4 Ways post. I’m always drawn to pretty t-shirts with fashion-related designs, something Parisian, or a classic Hello Kitty print, however the watercolor-graphic v-neck tee ($14.94) in lodge khaki from Old Navy caught my eye for its modern look over a neutral hue. I’ve decided to share how to style this top for day, weekend, date, & cocktail, ranging in price from $83.52 – $133.48.

For the day look, I loved bringing out fun colors like the 1969 always skinny jeans ($21.99) in lemon meringue from Gap & pairing it with the Christian Siriano Camile bow flat ($26.99) in dark green from Payless. Of course there’s always dark denim as an option, but I loved the neutrality of the tabbed sleeve jacket ($22.50) in Olive from Wet Seal. For an extra splash of style, I picked the 1928 jet-tone filigree teardrop earrings ($5.00) from Kohl’s, which will dress up any casual look & even work with a sheath or LBD for a night out on the town.

When you’re headed away for the weekend, consider comfortable options like the Mossimo Supply Co. bootcut denim ($22.99) in dark wash from Target. To add some extra height to this already casual chic look, I love the basic longline cardigan ($12.80) in black from Forever 21, which gives that boyfriend-sweater menswear look, especially when paired with the Michael Antonio Mallory bootie ($24.99) in black from Piperlime. Lastly, the tribal style bangle set ($7.80) in gold / dark brown from Forever 21 highlight the colors in the graphic tee & bring some extra personality to the whole ensemble.

On the flipside, experiment with this graphic tee, or any printed top for a cocktail look with the feminine skirt ($29.95) in black from H&M & edgy Jacquez jacket ($24.98) in jet black from G by Guess. To contrast the softness of the watercolor butterflies, I choose Charlotte Russe‘s spiked zip-back sueded pumps ($38.50) in black, which complimented the two tone chevron statement necklace ($12.90) from Windsor Store.

A date night look is the perfect opportunity for dressing up a graphic tee, especially when there are options like The Limited‘s silver & rose gold sequin jacket ($49.99) with the faux leather moto leggings ($39.80) in black from Forever 21. Sexy accessories for this look include the sparkling geo drop earrings ($4.80) in black / gold, also from Forever 21, as well as the patent faux leather pumps ($23.95) in black from GOjane, which have been recently marked down.

Christmas Day Sales: End of the Season Clearance @Delia’s Up To 80% Off!

I don’t usually shop @Delia’s, but I received an email today about the big end of the season clearance sale of items up to 80% off!  I know the juniors’ retailer has limited sizes & the store is geared toward younger shoppers, but there are so really great deals going on here, especially on accessories  shoes that any Style Darling can benefit from!  I included a few of my favorite picks, which cover all styles from girly to edgy to sporty to vixen.

Take a look at the Madden Girl ‘Cluelezz’ Mary Jane heels ($29.99), which are sure to make any skirt suit look a little more youthful & add a retro feel to a red satin sheath dress.  A big comfy cardigan like the ‘Mira’ cardigan ($9.99) in red is perfect for this time of year, especially when you want to get the most out of some summer pieces like a black jersey dress with sweater tights & combat boots.  For those of you who love graphic tees, well the playful boy recycler tee ($5.99) is a fun way of adding some personality to a basic jeans & jacket look. Also, another top that struck my attention is the solid crochet tank ($19.99) in charcoal.  It’s soft enough to help make pieces like a sequined mini skirt look a little more day appropriate.

I love the glitter skimmers ($14.99) which are the perfect way to give your feet a break at an after-work event where you still wanna look dressy in a button-down shirt & bubble skirt.  Also, for those who are more into the rugged pieces of the season, check out the boots ($24.99), which are available in both black & brown.  Lastly, the accessory piece that’s a must for any Style Darling is the skinny leopard belt ($9.99), an essential to wear over a solid cardigan when you’re looking to add a little splash of personality. Happy Holidays & Happy Styling!

Quickie Darling Deal & Steal: New Markdowns @White House Black Market!

What’s so great about this end-of-July / beginning-of-August time of year is that all the summer items are being marked down to usher in the new fall goods.  There are such great sales currently @White House Black Market! While you can shop all their sale items yourself to find fabulous deals, I’ve picked out some of my favorites, including a classic graphic print tee, perfect for a flirty ruffled mini skirt, as well as the basic black cami to wear under your favorite shear blouse or bolero cardigan.  I’m a big, BIG fan of skirts & WHBM is my go-to resource for finding gorgeous quality skirts in my favorite color combination.  The striped skirt is flattering for ALL body types & can even be brightened up with a pop of color in a belt or slingback heel.  The design of the floral skirt is great if paired with a blazer to mix up a work outfit, or works well with ankle strap sandals.  Part of what I love about summer footwear is that there’s always plenty of sparkle to choose from, as seen in these pink croc studded flip-flops & the embellished tan wedge sandals (also available in black, red, & blue).  There’s no better way to protect your eyes than with these animal-print sunglasses for $19.99, which command movie star status even for a Style Darling on a budget. In my opinion, one can really never have enough bracelets& a multi-stranded beaded bracelet is a classic option for a wrap dress, or try out a hammered stretch bracelet to match up for a date night. Happy Styling!

The Stylish Five: Graphic Tees ($20 & Under)!

So I usually post in The Stylish Five items that are $10 & under, but here we’re talking about graphic tees.  You can wear these tops under a leather jacket, cropped dark denim jacket, or with a fly away knit cardigan.  Of course tees are perfect for any bottom, like cargos, jeans, & even a floor length skirt, very Carrie Bradshaw in Sex & the City 2.  Even if you don’t like to advertise a brand name across your chest, here are fun ways to explore graphic tees while expressing things that you love.  If you’re looking to update your t-shirt look, take a cue from Gwyneth Paltrow, Natalie Portman, & Gwen Stefani.  Happy Styling!
