This weekend’s BAFTAs were a spectacle of cinema & fashion, but the celebration didn’t stop there as the after parties were all about glam, sparkle, & drama. Some of my favorites include The Menu star Anya Taylor-Joy in a cream head-to-toe Jean Paul Gaultier Couture look, English actress Lily James sparkling in a silver Jimmy Choo design, & The Wonder phenom Florence Pugh in a pink & silver Valentino mini. 2022 was the year that film came back BIG post-COVID-19 & as this year’s awards season is underway, it’s clear that the most creative & talented players in Hollywood are here to stay & have something to say. W magazine has created a portfolio of the best performances of the year, including playful, dynamic, & mesmerizing photo shoots, articles, & videos of some of most buzzed about stars, including Ana de Armas, Margot Robbie, Jennifer Lawrence, Keke Palmer, Danielle Deadwyler, Michelle Yeoh, & more! Take a look below & see what all the fuss is about.
When I learned that Golden Globe-nominated actress Ana de Armas had arrived in Venice, I was so excited to refresh my feeds to see what the Cuban star would wear to the highly-anticipated premiere of her controversial film, Blonde, where she stars as Marilyn Monroe. Naturally, her red carpet look would be elegant & stunning, but also, I wondered if & how the gown would represent the bombshell icon at the center of the film.
In a bright pink pleated gown with a deep-v by Louis Vuitton, Ana graced the red carpet in true Hollywood fashion. Her gentle waves & sophisticated jewelry by Messika hearken to an era of glamour & ease that offers a refreshing twist on Barbiecore.
Additionally, the hue pays homage to Marilyn’s signature pink from her “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend” musical sequence in the 1949 film Gentleman Prefer Blondes; likewise, the halter & pleated look of Ana’s dress are reminiscent of the iconic subway grate scene in The Seven Year Itch from 1955.
Escorted to the premiere by one of the film’s producers, Brad Pitt, Ana shines, which is no surprise. I hope this marks the beginning of an exciting & stylish press tour for the 2 hour 46-minute film that’s rated NC-17 & is based on the disorienting evocative fictional biography by Joyce Carol Oates that begins streaming on Netflix on September 28th, especially leading up to awards season!
There’s so much holiday talk in the air, but it’s also another season! All the best & most highly-anticipated films are about to hit theaters for awards season, which means that some of today’s most in-demand actresses are making jaw-dropping red carpet appearances, speaking at press events, & doing the talk show rounds, inspiring viewers with their class, intelligence, talent, & style. Aside from the excitement of seeing who is wearing what, the fashion in these films is definitely worth talking about. I was recently talking to some writer friends about how I haven’t been very enthusiastic about movies lately, especially since there’s so much amazing television on these days, but my mind is changed. I’m gushing over the visual candy that is La La Land, the retro elegance in Rules Don’t Apply & Jackie, as well as the high fashion stakes set in Miss Sloane & Nocturnal Animals (Directed by acclaimed designer Tom Ford).
This is the time of year when big things start happening. Fashion Week is just around the corner, followed by a stellar awards season for film & television. There are already some major contenders in the awards race, but there are plenty of great films on the autumn horizon with trailers that recently hit the web.
The Intern opens September 25th, starring Anne Hathaway, who’s running her own online business & gets a few life lessons from her senior-aged intern, played by Robert DeNiro.
Suffragette is a period drama about women fighting for their right to vote, starring Carey Mulligan, Meryl Streep, & Helena Bonham Carter, opening October 23rd.
By The Sea might just be one of Angelina Jolie Pitt’s final on screen films, about a married couple in the 70’s who take a vacation to Malta to save their marriage. The actress not only stars in the movie (with husband Brad Pitt), but she also wrote & directed the drama, which hits theaters on November 13th.
Sisters stars Tina Fey & Amy Poehler, following the hapless misadventures of clueless sisters who throw one last party before their parents sell their childhood home, just in time for the holidays on December 25th.
Joy marks the reunited unstoppable quartet of director David O’Russell, starring Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, & Robert DeNiro in a film that follows a family of four generations, building a family dynasty, opening on December 25th.
The long-awaited 87th Oscars ceremony is under way & the web is buzzing over the glamorous red carpet, featuring a slew of gorgeous gowns from nominated actresses & fabulous looks from presenters & performers. One of the biggest trends of the night was sparkle & color, as well as some surprises from favorite A-listers who have taken some risks & stayed true to their consistently celebrated style.

Among keeping your resolutions for the new year, something else & perhaps more stylish to look forward to is the Pre-Fall 2015 Collection lookbooks that hit the web last month & continue to send fashion critics & bloggers in a tizzy! I couldn’t help but gush over the recent images released by Project Runway winner Christian Siriano. The collection features any & everything luxe with lace details, metallic foil fabrics, fierce fringe, stunning coats, & timeless silhouettes that are sure to attract consistent celebrity clients of the designer, including Sarah Hyland, Christina Hendricks, Solange Knowles, & Mena Suvari. It’s hard to resist anticipating some of the formal pieces in the line for this season’s awards shows, especially when flawless nominees like Emma Stone, Amy Adams, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, Viola Davis, & Lizzy Caplan are about to his the red carpet looking their best to celebrate an amazing year in entertainment.
It’s awards season, which means that celebrity stylist / designer Rachel Zoe is in a fury to dress her A-list clients when hitting the red carpet. Amid this stylish frenzy, The Rachel Zoe Collection‘s Pre-Fall 2015 Lookbook is out, featuring Zoe’s signature 70’s aesthetic, with perfect touches of glamour, even in the line’s simplest looks. There’s a balanced range of party frocks, maxi dress, menswear inspiration, & glitter to go around, perfect for the likes of celebrities like Jamie King, Elizabeth Banks, Rose Byrne, & Anna Kendrick who are likely to make a splash during their upcoming appearances.
One of my favorite designers of all time is Marchesa, the epitome of glamour & elegance when it comes to ornate & timeless red carpet gowns, as famously seen on the red carpet on celebrities like Sandra Bullock, Halle Berry, Blake Lively, & Kerry Washington. The brand’s newest Pre-Fall 2015 Collection is everything & more to expect, including lots of brocade, lace, metallic textures, & just-right ruffles. Of course these designs are perfect for the upcoming awards season, likely to be seen on red carpet favorites like Big Eyes star Amy Adams, American’s sweetheart Jennifer Garner, model-turned-style-icon Kendall Jenner, & Girls actress Allison Williams.
It’s awards season, which means that it’s time for the stars to weigh their red carpet options & many, many press appearances promoting the best films of the year. One line that’s sure to grab the attention of A-listers is Badgley Mischka‘s Pre-Fall 2015 Collection, which is why I’m sharing it first. It includes luxe gowns that are perfect for the red carpet, as well as chic frocks & sheath dresses for those token interviews & events leading up to the big night. The collection tells a lovely story with lace details, delicate architecture, fine lines, & classic silhouettes. These pieces would shine on a Style Darling of any age, including this year’s nominees like Into the Woods star Emily Blunt, awards season favorite Julianne Moore, & Game of Thrones heroine Emilia Clarke.
Now that the Golden Globes have been analyzed to death, we can look forward to the stars celebrating awards season in between shows (we’ve yet to see what’s going to happen on the red carpets from the SAG Awards & Oscars!). However, a big trend at the Globes was the color black & it seems it has returned to the red carpet & the celebrities are loving it! I’ve always been a fan of a classic LBD, but here we see all sorts of black making a major statement. This includes my favorite looks from Krysten Ritterin a peek-a-boo dress & then Krysten Ritteragain in a Dior jacket with a pencil skirt & Brian Atwood shoes. Also, other favorites include Ashley Greene‘s leather peplum look, Scarlett Johansson‘s Dolce & Gabbana outfit with Irene Neuwirth earrings, & Miranda Kerr‘s continuously enviable street style, accessorized by Givenchy & Barbara Bui.
Awards season is officially in full swing with the announcement of the Screen Actors Guild & Critics Choice nominations. All of my favorite celebs have been hitting the red carpet, including the stunning stars of Les Miserables to promote their best work. While actress Anne Hathawayhad some sort of revealing wardrobe malfunction in the (pictured above) black silky Tom Ford number, she still looked every bit the major movie star, along with Amanda Seyfriedin a beguiling Alexander McQueen gown. Other favorites include Freida Pinto‘s golden Ralph Lauren Collection look & Naomi Wattsfloral gown by Zac Posen.
