Silver Screen Style: Remember Clueless? Rihanna Does- In Calvin Klein!

As if.. haha… As if Clueless wasn’t a classic 90s movie for its humor, memorable characters, & darling storyline, Cher, played by Alicia Silverstone, had one killer wardrobe! In the iconic scene where she’s going out on a date with her new-guy-at-school crush, Christian, her dad barks at her that she’s dressed inappropriately in a little white slip dress mini by the one & only Calvin Klein.  Last week on the red carpet, the always risk-taking Rihanna wore a custom Calvin Klein Collection red slip dress that immediately sent the fashion world into a Clueless-driven frenzy, & here’s my part.

Rihanna accessorizes her ravishing version with red strappy sandals & gorgeous Neil Lane jewelry. If you’re looking to get that sexy slip dress look, you can find the Free People swiss dot slip dress ($29.99) from 6PM & double-ring bra top dress ($39.50) from Victoria’s Secret. Check out the video clip below for a refresher on why this movie has stood the test of chick-flick time! Happy Styling!

Red Carpet Review: All The Sparkle & Color From The 2012 American Music Awards!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The American Music Awards are still airing, but if you’ve missed any of the red carpet festivities, then you can check out the highs & lows here on Style Darling.  Some of my favorite performers hit the stage, including Christina Aguilera & Pink, both who made stunning statements on the red carpet in lavender & bronze, respectively.  Also, some noteable appearances were made by an Old Hollywood-inspired Carly Rae Jepsen in Gomez-Garcia, Nicki Minaj in neon Monique Lhuillier, & the always gorgeous Carrie Underwood in a purple gown by Abed Mahfouz.

Who wore your favorite looks? What was your favorite part of the show? Do you agree with the winners? For more from Red Carpet Review, check out posts including the Breaking Dawn Part Two premiere & MTV’s European Music Awards! Happy Styling!

The $100 Challenge: A Neutrals & Leopard Print Perfect For Any Time Of The Year!

I’ve been really inspired by some of the Facebook pages that I’ve been spotting on my newsfeed lately, including J’s Everyday Fashion, Kendi Everyday, The Budget Babe, What The Frock?, Fashion Blog, Fashion is my life, Fashion lady, & finally, Fashion…. just to name a few.  I wanted to share my latest knowledge of Photoshop & pick out some affordable looks to help you through the fall & upcoming holiday season in  my latest post for The $100 Challenge!

What first caught my eye was the sueded pointy toe stud pumps ($32.50) from Charlotte Russe. Neutral & nude pumps haven’t gone away, but I love the contrasting texture of the suede with the edgy studding detail which adds more interest to what could be a forgettable & ordinary shoe. I’m always a big fan of animal print, which is why I’m recommending the long-sleeved wrap dress ($32.94) from Old Navy (online only), which is also available in other shades & prints, & sold in sizes XS – XXL.

As for the accessories, I wanted to find easy pieces to wear with other wardrobe staples, including the Minicci Susannah wristlet ($9.99) from Payless, H&M‘s beaded earrings ($9.95), & spike stretch bracelet ($9.20) from GOjane. Of course this look can be mixed up even more with red shoes, a glittery bag, under a blazer, & with tights & boots, but these basics are easy to throw on for work, a date, & drinks with friends on the weekend.

For more posts featuring affordable looks, check out Accessories Access & studded earrings, Basics for a Bargain & tops & pants looks inspired by Olivia Palermo & Kristen Stewart, Darling of the Day & Pippa  Middleton, & Luxury Look-Alikes for Less & studded ankle booties. Happy Styling!

Watch This Style: Marilyn Monroe’s Never Before Seen Footage & Her Love Of Chanel No. 5!

Chanel should’ve rethought their whole campaign for their legendary fragrance, Chanel No. 5, especially since Brad Pitt’s lackluster black & white monologue has fallen short its $7 million price tag.  I was lucky enough to spot this video of never been seen footage & audio of the one & only, Marilyn Monroe, talking about her love of the fragrance, which is a much better & sexier way to talk about the classic scent.  Not to mention that she’s famously quoted, when asked “What do you wear to bed?,” with answer “Chanel No. 5.” For all your lovers of MM & vintage style, get a load of this really cool video & share it with your Style Darlings! Happy Styling!

Show Me The Shoes: Ann Taylor’s New Shoe Collection!

The holidays are coming up, including the time when it’s most important to give back… however, I am a strong believer in taking care of oneself, especially in times of style crisis. You can budget all year long to save money on your wardrobe, but once- just once- wouldn’t it be nice to splurge a little? Well, I couldn’t think of a better way to recommend Ann Taylor‘s latest shoe collection, which includes the Delilah leather shooties ($178.00), zebra print haircalf perfect pumps ($198.00), perfect exotic leather city flats ($64.99), & Josie suede & leather high heel boots ($298.00).

How would you style these shoes? Are you wearing animal-inspired textures on your footwear? How much do you usually spend on staples like booties, booties, pumps, & flats. Happy Styling!

Red Carpet Review: The Lovely Ladies From Last Night’s Premiere Of ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part Two!’

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I’m not a particular fan of The Twilight Saga, but I think last night’s red carpet for the franchise’s final installment, Breaking Dawn Part Two, is what’s most important to pay attention to when it comes to this film.  All of you Twi-hards are welcomed to seek another website to get your K-Stew / R-Patz gossip on.  The film’s stars were out in full force, & Kristen Stewart‘s headling-making nude Zuhair Murad gown has been all over the web today.  While there’s no doubt that the gown is very beautiful, my vote for best dressed belongs to Ashley Greene in a custom made blush gown by Donna Karan Atelier & Dakota Fanning who debuted her brunette locks with a gorgeous jewel-toned gown by Elie Saab.

Click through the gallery, featuring the film’s leading ladies, as well as some celebrity fans who showed up to share their support for the vampire drama, including Molly Sims & Julianne Hough.  Happy Styling!

Cover Craze: December Issue Risk-Takers & Style-Makers, Featuring Keira Knightley, Rihanna, Anne Hathaway, & More!

‘Tis the season to take your clothes off for a magazine.. well, not really, but that’s what Rihanna (in AllSaints) & Keira Knightley (in Chanel) have both done for the December 2012 issues of GQ & Allure, respectively.  I love the idea of being confident in your body & loving your shape, however I’m not sure that’s the message that these two cover Style Darlings are sending, but I don’t publish the magazines. However, Catherine Zeta-Jones is keeping it classy for In Style‘s final issue of the year in a v-neck dress by Nina Ricci.

Also, I’m happy to share the latest from Vogue, featuring Les Miserables actress & recent Saturday Night Live host, Anne Hathaway who is looking every bit the movie star in Ralph Lauren, Taylor Swift making her 2nd appearance this month (see previous Cover Craze post) for Harper’s Bazaar & she’s talking about how hard it is to wear the same dress twice, & the always ladylike Jennifer Hudson, who’s appearing in the 2nd season of Smash, for Redbook. Happy Styling!

Last night, the hottest names in music gathered in Germany for MTV’s European Music Awards & Style Darling is happy to share the best looks from the evening’s red carpet.  My favorites include Alicia Keys in a body-conscious Stella McCartney masterpiece, as well as the always-golden Taylor Swift rocking out in her favorite designer, J. Mendel.  Check out the gallery & share with us who wore your favorite looks of the night?

Ad Madness: Amber Heard’s Latest Guess Campaign Shoot!

Amber Heard has been making headlines, especially after her role in last year’s The Rum Diary, opposite Johnny Depp, who is said to be Amber’s beau.  The actress, whose credits include Zombieland & Pineapple Express, is returning as a model for Guess, for their latest fragrance ads for Guess Girl.  In a recent article on FashionEtc, the scent is described as “With top notes of raspberry nectar, melon and bergamot mist, and a  drydown of Australian sandalwood and Madagascar vanilla, the fruity floral scent is a distinct departure from the brand’s most recent perfume, Seductive, aimed toward women in their later 20’s.

Clad in a pink sequin mini under a Marilyn Monroe-inspired button down shirt that’s tied at the waist, the ad seems to focus on the voluptuous beauties of Old Hollywood & Amber is a perfect match, looking to be the next Sharon Stone with every red carpet appearance. Guess Girl won’t be available as a stocking stuffer since it will make its debut in February, but you can count on the three sizes to be budget-friendly, going for 1 oz. for $40, 1.7 oz. for $52, & 3.4 oz. for $62, as well as a 6.7-oz. body cream for $28 at Guess.com.

For more celebrity campaigns, check out previous posts including Brad Pitt’s commercial for Chanel No. 5, Kirsten Dunst’s latest for Bvlgari’s Mon Jasmin Noir, & Rihanna’s ad for her newest fragrance, Nude. Happy Styling!

Watch This Style: Prabal Gurung’s Collaborates With Target!

Next year, Target is getting a whole lot better with the debut collaboration from famed designer, Prabal Gurung. On February 10th, you’ll be able to feel the love of fashion in this love-inspired collection, which will include bright blue pumps, neon florals, splashes of metallics, ravishing reds, & much more! There have been so many waves of high fashion hitting the mass market, especially @Target, which have all sold out in what could only be described as practically instantaneously.

Are you going to be waiting in line to see more from this collection? Do you like it when big names in fashion creates lines for mainstream shoppers? Do you think that these pieces are practical for the everyday woman who shops @Target? Happy Styling!

Watch This Style: Project Runway All Stars Season 2: Graffiti Chic Runway Looks!

After season 10 of Project Runway ended, it only took a week to quell my creative competition show juices for when the second season of Project Runway All Stars returned & I’ve been happy to see some old favorites (Uli HerznerAnthony Ryan Auld) return to the workroom to reclaim victory.  Last week’s episode 3, “Up Your Aerosol” aired & I found myself excited to see the designers working with graffiti artists to create their own prints & designs looks accordingly.  Having worked in the boroughs of New York & seen the graffiti-ridden streets of Italy, I was interested in seeing the two art forms collide on te runway.

The winning look belonged to Emilio Sosa, & unfortunately, Suede‘s dotted disaster sent him home.  For more angles & closeup details on these looks, head over to My Lifetime. Check out the images above to see the designers’ handiwork & share which look is your favorite.  Which designer are you following this season? Happy Styling!

Accessories Access: Sweet Studded Style From Piperlime!

In previous posts, I’ve probably revealed that I’m not a big earrings Style Darling, but this is changing.  I really prefer studs over any other type of earring, usually b/c I wear glasses, do something with my hair, & love to wear a big necklace or statement headband.  However, I’ve hit the jackpot lately with stud sets from stores like Claire’s, H&M, Forever 21, JC Penney, & Old Navy, which I love to combine since I have endured 5 piercings on both ears during my teen years.  Now with a variety to choose from, I find that I’m wearing multiple studs in all sizes & love the combinations with small stones, pearls, or balls.

I wanted to share my love of studs with readers & found myself oohing & aahhing at the selection offered @Piperlime.  Of course I’m a big fan of a bargain, but when it comes to jewelry, pieces that you can wear everyday & for special occasions, there’s nothing wrong with investing in a really special pair of earrings, which includes the Tinley Road vintage stud earring ($16.00),  Betsey Johnson celestial faux pearl and star stud earrings ($25.00), Sabine cluster stud earring ($20.00), Pim + Larkin solitaire stud earring ($16.00), Betsey Johnson ladybug studs ($25.00), & Sabine round crystal pave stud earring ($14.97).

Which studs are your favorites? Do you like studs for day & night? Where do you usually shop for your fashion accessories? For more posts in Accessories Access, check out a zebra belt from LOFT, a variety of tights from Charlotte Russe, & statement necklaces from Forever 21! Happy Styling!

Basics For A Bargain: The Hottest Tops & Pants Looks Worn By Kristen Stewart, Alexa Chung, Kate Hudson, & More!

I’ve never been a dress pants kind of girl- until lately.  I was always the girl walking around in a skirt or dress b/c those pieces were just always easier for me to find since I wear petite bottoms in most cases, but also have a curvy shape.  However, I’m inspired by these tops & bottoms (pants, more specifically) looks that I’ve been spotting on the most photographed & stylish celebrities.

This includes actress Rashida Jones in jewel-tone trousers by Theyskens’ Theory paired with a studded blazer, an eggplant blouse, Graziela earrings, a Dana Rebecca Designs ring, & metallic cap toe pumps.  This look says so much about her edgy, but conservative style.  The rich hues combined with the luxe fabrics make looking like you’re wearing pajamas with an 80s-esque jacket look super cool.  Next is K-Stew herself, Kristen Stewart, wearing a daring Balenciaga design with a Cartier bracelet, & sleek Christian Louboutins. Critics are calling this look a ripoff of the barely there bra-top & bare midriff look that the blonde-coiffed Miley Cyrus has been sporting, but I think The Twilight Saga star has got it right here. French import / Bond girl Berenice Marlohe is ravishing in colorblocked black with feathers & a white top by Alexander McQueen, Norman Silverman studs, & Sergio Rossi pumps. I love her smoky eye, yet mature Blake-Lively inspired beachy locks, providing a fresh take on an unlikely pairing.

Kate Hudson is a vision in Alexander McQueen menswear with towering Brian Atwood pumps at the Glee premiere in September, while donning a sexy lace cami underneath.  Style icon Alexa Chung has never looked sleeker in this Maje button-down shirt & slacks with minimalist black pumps- again another menswear-ish look that couldn’t be more fabulous.  Lastly, reality star Olivia Palermo is getting on board with the volume trend wearing an Elin Kling for Marciano oversized sweater with cropped pants, ankle-strap Gucci sandals, & tribal-inspired accessories.

I gave myself the daunting task (while the power could hold out during the crazy snow storm that hit the Northeast on Wednesday) to try & replicate these looks- all in one post! Of course, I’m still working on those PhotoShop skills, but I’m happy to share affordable versions of these six looks, which cost b/w $41.50 – $124.99. If you take a look below, you’ll see that I’ve recreated the pieces of clothing from Rashida’s look, including a textured Lark Lane foil-print zip jacket ($45.00) from JCPenney, the Honey Punch ‘high-waisted hopes pants ($42.00) in red from Lulu’s, & the LC by Lauren Conrad embellished chiffon blouse ($26.40) from Kohl’s. Kristen’s look was tougher to put together, but a daring Style Darling can certainly pull off the stretch lace bralette ($24.50) from Victoria’s Secret & pair it with White House Black Market‘s legacy bi-stretch modern bootcut pant ($49.99).

For Berenice’s look, I couldn’t find feathers, but the peplum trend was easy to put together when I found the laser cut dot peplum tank ($21.99) from Charlotte Russe & the Lauren Jeans Co. Biltmore trouser pants ($44.99) @Macy’s. A winter white tuxdeo on a budget was an even trickier ensemble to recreate, but Kate’s look wasn’t too far off when I found the Bar III three-quarter open-front tuxedo blazer ($26.99) from Macy’s & the White House Black Market modern bootcut tux pant ($98.00). Alexa’s look is comprised of pieces from Forever 21, including the tail hem shirt ($18.90) & coated trimmed trousers ($22.80). Lastly, Olivia’s look was perfectly timed now that heavy knits are in stores, & I selected The Limited‘s cowlneck poncho ($49.99) & Logan fit slim ankle pant ($49.99) from Banana Republic.

We’re barely two weeks into November, but already the 2012 covers for the hottest magazines have hit the web & I have a jam-packed post here, featuring ten must-have & must-see issues from here in the United States, as well as abroad. Red Carpet Review: Carrie Underwood’s 12 Stunning Looks As The 2012 CMA Hostess!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Better late than never! I didn’t have power or cable or anything the night that the 2012 Country Music Awards aired on ABC & missed out seeing hostess & singer Carrie Underwood, alongside host Brad Paisley, in her dazzling looks from the evening’s crooning festivities.  Thankfully, my online resources haven’t let me down & I was able to put together this incredible 12-look gallery, which ranks close to Anne Hathaway’s costume changes as co-hostess of the Academy Awards last year. Of course, the biggest night in country music called for some big style & Carrie delivered, wearing looks by Alice + Olivia, Reem Acra, Georges Chakra, Jenny Packham, & many more.  Click through the gallery & share with us which is your favorite look! Happy Styling!

Luxury Look-Alikes For Less / Show Me The Shoes: Studded Ankle Booties From Neiman Marcus & Charlotte Russe!

Since I’m all about the bargains & fabulous shoes, I wanted to bring the best of both worlds together for my latest Luxury Look-Alikes For Less post, which just so happens to be cross-listed with my posts for Show Me The Shoes.  Anyway, when I reorganized my closet for the fall-winter season, I was happily reunited with my ankle booties that I just love to wear with textured tights, pencil skirts, straight leg jeans, & classic cardigans.

I’m excited to share two very similar studded ankle booties, which call on your rocker sensibilities, but would also play nicely off of more delicate pieces like lace accents, stripes, or luxe fabrics like brocade.  From Neiman Marcus, I found the studded heart-toe platform bootie ($1,185.00) by Alexander McQueen, which are utterly gorgeous & I especially love the edgy, but sweet heart detail.  Opposite is the studded double buckle heel bootie ($38.50) from Charlotte Russe, which is much more budget-friendly than the luxury pick.  In addition, Charlotte Russe is currently having a Buy One Get One $10 sale on all shoes, which only makes me even more gleeful to go shoe shopping- when the weather clears up, that is.

For more shoe-lovin’ posts, check out hot two-tone boots by Ivanka Trump, Stuart Weitzman’s James Franco-directed video, & what pumps to wear with your stripes & floral look! Happy Styling!

Basics For A Bargain: Swap In Some Sweaters, Inspired By Carrie Underwood, Nicole Richie, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, & More!

As if Long Island hasn’t been riddled enough with weather, it’s snowing now & I bundled up in my favorite sweater to brave the day.  This was my inspiration when I clicked through some of my top go-to websites to find must-have sweaters for the fall-winter season- no matter where you live.  Because sweaters are bulkier, often requiring special care, & available in an array of materials, I don’t necessarily admonish anyone who is looking for an investment piece to add to their cold weather wardrobe.  However, let’s take a look at some stylish celebrities who have been spotted in recent months donning some fashionable sweaters.

Actress Rose Byrne accents her textured black sweater with a ruffled skirt & leopard belt at the debut short film for Target, Falling For You.  Country crooner Taylor Swift looks all sorts of ladylike with maroon sweater by French Connection, paired with polka dot jeans by AG Adriano Goldschmied, Charlotte Olympia flats, & a tasteful string of pearls. Jessica Alba plays with menswear in her Alice + Olivia sweater to contrast her printed pants & bold cap toe pumps. Former Heroes star Ali Larter mixes sophistication with urban chic in a shawl collar sweater with olive cargo pants, ankle booties, & a Coach bag.

You can count on American Idol Carrie Underwood to bring the glitz to an appearance at The Late Show with David Letterman, wearing a sequin sweater, skinny jeans, & strappy wedges. Model / actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley goes all-black in a fringed black sweater & liquid leather leggings when arriving at the Sao Paulo Fashion Week celebration.  Lastly, designer Nicole Richie goes casual in a zebra print Proenza Schouler sweater with skinny black jeans & suede pumps.

For under $50, you can find heart details, metallic threading, animal-inspiration, feminine accents, & some sparkle when it comes to wearing a sweater.  Of course, there’s the classic cable knit or argyle that you can wear to the office, but there are lots of ways to look ladylike & modern without having to sacrifice style when it comes to chunky knitwear.

I love the fun & flirty colors in the colored animal pattern sweater ($27.80) from Forever 21 is a cool way to accent a pencil skirt with a metallic collar necklace, or to wear during the day with skinny jeans & knee boots.  If you’re headed on a double date or want to stay warm when going out at night, check out Expressmetallic wedge sweater ($19.99), which would look hot with leather shorts & tights or colored jeans.  I’ve surprised myself lately by finding an interest in stripes (I’m not typically a stripey), but I love the color contrast & splash of sparkle in the Varick Street sequin stripe v-neck sweater ($46.95) from New York & Company, which is available in a whole range of colors if you’re not into the yellow-gray combo.

As seen on many Style Darlings like Alexa Chung & Rihanna, wearing novelty pieces is a big trend, & this includes LC by Lauren Conrad‘s lurex heart sweater ($34.99) from Kohl’s, which is also sold in black & white, as well as tan & black.  Pair this fun top with wide leg jeans & a scarf, or polish the look with textured a-line skirt & pointed toe heels.  Lastly, @Venus you can find knit sweater with bow ($22.00) in light brown which can be easily played up with a fancy lace pencil skirt or some leather leggings.

What sweater styles do you like to wear when the weather gets cold? Are there sweater trends that you love to follow? Watch This Style: The Top 5 Most Stylish Music Videos By Alicia Keys (+ Her Latest ‘Girl On Fire’)!

Alicia Keys is one of my all-time favorite singers & I don’t think I need to explain why.  She’s a powerhouse performer, prolific songwriter, & clearly a Style Darling! Her latest & 5th record, Girl on Fire, has released its first single of the same name & it’s clear that Alicia herself is indeed on fire! Check her out in looks from Victoria Beckham, Valentino, Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci, in Christian Louboutins with her red & black butterfly dress, & Camilla & Marc.

In celebration of her upcoming record, due out November, I thought it was appropriate to celebrate her music, as well as her style by sharing her latest music video for “Girl On Fire,” where the singer is hoswing off her style with neon trends, smoky eye makeup, & figure flattering duds.  Basically, she’s never looked better, but this post isn’t just about that since I’m including my top 5 favorite videos from the new mom.  This includes (in no particular order) “If I Ain’t Got You,” “No One,” “Empire State of Mind” with Jay-Z, “Teenage Love Affair, & “Karma.”

You can’t forget about her chart-topping hits like “Fallin’,” “Girlfriend,” & “You Don’t Know My Name,” but I think 6 music videos in one post is plenty to enjoy the talents of this very admirable recording artist.  Surely she’ll be hitting up all of the red carpets during the awards season, promoting her record, as well as appearing on all the pertinent talk shows to spread her love of music, so we’ll have to keep an eye out.

Which are your favorite videos by Alicia? Do you like her style? Which hairstyle of hers is your favorite? For more videos from Watch This Style, check out the latest from Solange Knowles, No Doubt, & Christina Aguilera! Happy Styling!

Accessories Access: LOFT’s Final Sale Chic Zebra Belt At 40% Off!

If you’re looking to shop for something special, but without the extra special price tag attached to it, then you should almost always think about hitting up LOFT first & check out the latest sale items.  I haven’t purchased very much there for myself, but I’ve heard countless stories from friends & always see these great deals on their website- especially when it comes to clearance.

My latest pick for Accessories Access is the zebra haircalf stretch belt ($29.88), which gets reduced an additional 40% off at checkout without any special code.  This is the perfect piece to reinvent an old favorite like a basic cardigan with jeans, buckled over a polka-dotted sheath dress, or with a heavy sweater tunic & leggings.  What do you think about this deal? Do you like to wear belts? Do you prefer animal prints to other patterns? Happy Styling!

Watch This Style: Get Your First Look At AnnaSophia Robb in ‘The Carrie Diaries’!

Back in April, I came across from sneak preview images from the newest CW series, The Carrie Diaries, based on Candace Bushnell’s novel, starring newcomer, AnnaSophia Robb, as the iconic Carrie Bradshaw in 1984.  I was a little hesitant to watch the video below, but I’m glad I did. Of course the show, which premieres in January, won’t be the same as the original HBO show with the incomparable Sarah Jessica Parker, darling Kristin Davis, daring Kim Cattrall, & brilliant Cynthia Nixon.

We get to see a different side of the beloved character who still inspires red carpets & runways even after the show’s end in 2004, the first film in  2008, & its sequel in 2010.  Check out my previous post, sharing the fashionable images from The Carrie Diaries, which make me wanna break out my bright turquoise pointed toe pumps! Happy Styling!

10/31/2012 Darling Of The Day: Pippa Middleton’s Chic Fall Street Look!

This is no trick, but it is a treat. I could’ve posted about sexy maid costumes or how to recreate Carrie Bradshaw’s style, but in lieu of a little hurricane named Sandy, I wanted to share something more realistic, but as equally as delightful.  I haven’t written about Pippa Middleton‘s style in quite some time, but once I saw this chic purple & black ensemble, I knew I had to find the pieces to reimagine it while on a budget.

The Croft & Barrow solid faux suede shirt ($19.99) from Kohl’s is the perfect way to start building this look & if purple isn’t your hue of choice, it’s also available in grey, tan, & green. I always turn to New York & Company for work essentials, which is where I’ve found the ponte knit pencil skirt ($34.95). While it doesn’t have as much detail as Pippa’s, it is still figure flattering with plenty of structure given in the seams.  As for the shoes, I hit up DSW for the Madden Girl Zelouss bootie ($49.95), which compare at up to $80.00.

Accessories for this look in the Worthington tights ($6.00) from JC Penney, oversized wayfarer-style sunglasses ($20.93) from Express, as well as the Amour charm necklace ($3.80) & contrast strap hobo ($24.80), both from Forever 21.

These pieces aren’t just perfect for street style or heading in & out of the office since they can be rearranged with a boyfriend blazer & skinny jeans, belted with leather leggings, or knotted with lace shorts & boots.  For more on my girl crush on Pippa, be sure to check out posts in Top 10 Celeb Sightings, Darling of the Day, Luxury Look-Alikes For Less, & Basics for a Bargain. Happy Styling!

The $100 Challenge: How To Get A Hot H&M Look On A Budget!

Some people get a power suit to bring out their confidence, but I’m all about the power dress.  H&M is one of my favorite stores for basics, but I always find a chic dress or dressy item whenever I least expect it. I’m not only a big fan of the styles sold @H&M, but I even shopped there & stuffed my suitcase while I was in Italy in January.  Just take a look at the ensemble below, which rings up for under $100 (before taxes)!

Black & white is a my favorite color combination (as seen in my previous Color Me Style post) & it’s extra special here punched up with some gold accessories & sparkling splash. The dress ($34.95) can go from work to happy hour with the transformation of a blazer for some bangles, but I love the simplicity & possibilities that this dress offers.  The shoes ($34.95) add some texture to this mod look, but they can also be worn under your favorite trousers & a cardigan, or with any LBD for a hot date night.  To accessorize, I’ve selected the necklace ($5.95) which is also available in silver, if you are looking for a way to frame your face with the right kind of neckline.  The 3-pack rings ($6.95) compliment the animal-inspiration in the shoes, but also bring out the black details of the dress. To finish it off, the sparkling bag ($12.95) is spacious & flirty for any evening occasion & is also sold in white.

The total for this look comes to $95.75! How would you style this dress? Where would you wear it? Which metallic hues do you prefer as a neutral? For more posts from The $100 Challenge, including Freida Pinto’s all-black ensemble, fall must-have accessories, & Olivia Wilde’s LBD! Happy Styling!

Accessories Access: Tights For All Styles @Charlotte Russe!

If you’ve been following Style Darling on Instagram (@MissAlissaL), then you’ve seen a stylish array of tights & heels / booties combinations that I’ve been wearing for work.  Some of my favorite tights come from Payless, Kohl’s, & New York & Company, but for today’s post, I’ll be talking about the selection of tights found @Charlotte Russe, which is currently on sale Buy One, Get One 50% off!

This includes the basic opaque tight ($6.50) available in seven different hues, mixed floral patterned tight ($7.50), floral print lace tight ($7.50), starburst floral patterned tight ($7.50), crochet vertical stripe tight ($7.50), zigzag pattern fashion tight ($7.50), leopard pattern fishnet tight ($7.50), & the floral patterned tight ($7.50). Of course, this means that if you’re wearing some flashy tights, then it’s a good idea to let that be your stand-out item & pair neutrals with the rest of your look.  I love the way contrasting colored heels look with these tights, but when in doubt, the monochromatic trend is in full swing- if done properly.  Try a solid sheath dress or color block with your separates.

Watch This Style: Stuart Weitzman’s Finale To “Walking After Midnight,” Directed by James Franco!

For the last three weeks, I’ve been sharing the latest video campaign from Stuart Weitzman, directed by James Franco, & starring Dancing with the Stars beauty Petra Nemcova. The most recent, & finale, of the vignettes hit the web & now Style Darling has it for you! Check out the full-length short film, featuring each episode, & then some! Of course, this all happens to a revved up remake of Patsy Kline’s “Walking After Midnight,” which I haven’t been able to get out of my head all month long!

What do you think about the ad campaign? Are you a fan of Stuart Weitzman designs? Do you like Franco’s point of view for the heels? Happy Styling!

Splurge Or Save… Stripes & Florals, Inspired By The Pages Of Marie Claire!

While preparing for the imminent hurricane, I’ve gathered plenty of reading materials that will have to suffice as both entertainment & education in case of a power outage.  I have Monday & Tuesday off from work b/c of this Sandy nuisance, so I was starting to refer back to some of my favorite magazine articles that I checked out while at work & this page from Marie Claire sticks out most in my mind.  The latest issue, which features the lovely Ashley Greene, actress from The Twilight Saga & spokesmodel for DKNY, on its cover.  However, I posted this image on my Instagram (@MissAlissaL), sharing the daring dud combination of stripes & florals- one I’ve yet to explore.

Of course any Style Darling would be lucky to own any of the pictured items from page 72 of MC (ranging in price from $44.95 – $565.00, from brands like Sergio Rossi, Coach, Chris Benz, Kate Spade, & more); however, I wanted to share my version of this page, hoping to see this trend done right without breaking the bank!

My recommendations all cost under $50.00 per item & will certainly help transform your fall favorites into fresh, new outfits to wear to work, going on a date, a family occasion, or a party.  We know how figure flattering pencil skirts are, so I stuck with the idea of a floral pencil skirt, matching with uncomplicated basic stripes, as well as strong neutral accessories.  The jewelry has enough visual interest to add the perfect amount of dimension for an evening occasion, while still looking expensive & luxurious.

First, I’m sharing a plus size look, which can be built from the lace pencil skirt ($40.00) @Eloquii by The Limited, available in sizes 14W-24W. Yes, I see that this isn’t a basic floral print, but the flower concept is in the feminine lace details. To help make the elegant skirt pop, I’ve added the Extra Touch plus-size top ($19.99) from Macy’s, which is also available in green, fuchsia, & purple. To finish off the look, I turned to Torrid for the patent system heel ($26.70) in red, which is available in size 7-13 wide width.  Also, the Candie’s two tone bead multistrand necklace ($7.20) is from Kohl’s & can be worn over any graphic tee, with an LBD, or to add a splash of personality to a solid cardigan.

My next looks run in misses sizes, including New York & Company‘s tapestry print wrap skirt with pleating ($46.95) in black plum, but this can also be bought in saffron. Since the print is so busy, I wanted to stick to an all-flattering stripe with the striped cowlneck waffle tee ($29.95) in black & white from the Gap. The neckline of the top is pronounced, so I opted for the patent hip belt ($4.80) in eggplant from Forever 21 over a necklace & matched it with the Moda Spana Nadine patent pump ($29.94) from DSW.

The third look is definitely a bold statement, mixing the floral pencil skirt ($24.99) from The Limited with Forever 21‘s cream & navy striped 3/4 sleeve top ($10.80). The Brash Kosmic platform pump ($29.99) in tan suede from Payless & BaubleBar‘s triple tear pendant ($26.00) are neutral pieces that can be mixed with any variety of casual, office, & evening looks.

Look’s #1-3 total out to $93.89, $111.64, & $91.78, respectively. That’s a pretty amazing deal for such versatile pieces that will work with jeans, skinny pants, button-down shirts, & other wardrobe staples. Would you dare to wear stripes & florals? Which of these looks is your favorite? How much would you spend on an outfit like this?
