Cover Craze: December Issue Risk-Takers & Style-Makers, Featuring Keira Knightley, Rihanna, Anne Hathaway, & More!

‘Tis the season to take your clothes off for a magazine.. well, not really, but that’s what Rihanna (in AllSaints) & Keira Knightley (in Chanel) have both done for the December 2012 issues of GQ & Allure, respectively.  I love the idea of being confident in your body & loving your shape, however I’m not sure that’s the message that these two cover Style Darlings are sending, but I don’t publish the magazines. However, Catherine Zeta-Jones is keeping it classy for In Style‘s final issue of the year in a v-neck dress by Nina Ricci.

Also, I’m happy to share the latest from Vogue, featuring Les Miserables actress & recent Saturday Night Live host, Anne Hathaway who is looking every bit the movie star in Ralph Lauren, Taylor Swift making her 2nd appearance this month (see previous Cover Craze post) for Harper’s Bazaar & she’s talking about how hard it is to wear the same dress twice, & the always ladylike Jennifer Hudson, who’s appearing in the 2nd season of Smash, for Redbook. Now that New York Fashion Week is over, the celebs are stepping out in serious style in preparation for awards season & movie premieres.  However, I’m excited to share some looks that have been catching my eye, especially when stars like Anne Hathaway, Olivia Palermo, & Sarah Jessica Parker have lent their support to Valentino Haute Couture designs. In addition, I’ve included another stylish look of Olivia Palermo at the Burberry Prorsum show at London Fashion Week, as well as Amy Adams in Roksanda Illincic, Elizabeth Olsen in Topshop & ASOS, Gwyneth Paltrow‘s LWD while on the campaign trail, Hailee Steinfeld‘s mixed prints in Rebecca Minkoff & Mary Katrantzou, & Olivia Wilde in Alexander McQueen. ‘Tis the conference season once again & I’m spending some quality writing time out in Southampton, New York- one of my favorite places to visit. Red Carpet Review: Marion Cotillard & Anne Hathaway Wow In White At Premiere!

At the New York premiere of the highly anticipated The Dark Knight Rises, leading ladies Anne Hathaway & Marion Cotillard stepped out in style, wearing white dresses worth talking about! Anne is donning a plunging white hand-draped Prabal Gurung gown with diamond Kwiat jewelry.  The simplicity of the gown nicely offsets her new cropped ‘do, not to mention that white has always looked gorgeous on the Oscar nominee. Also, French actress Marion is wearing a cocktail dress by Dior, with Chopard jewelry & strappy Christian Louboutins.  Both brunette beauties are turning head & I can’t wait to see what else they’ll be wearing as the film premieres around the world.  Happy Styling!

7/12/2012 Darling Of The Day / Basics For A Bargain: Anne Hathaway’s Cropped ‘Do, LBDs, & Audrey Hepburn Inspiration!

Anne Hathaway has hit the red carpet with a reinvented classic retro vibe, cad with her pixie cut (for Les Miserables), little black dresses, basic black shoes, & elegance pendant necklaces.  The Oscar-nominee is in full swing promoting her latest film, the major summer blockbuster The Dark Knight Rises. The Style Darling‘s looks are elegant, contemporary, youthful, & worth making her the Darling of the Day.

Since I couldn’t pick just one look that I loved, I decided to share the four most recent images of her Audrey Hepburn-inspired style.  Her short ‘do is perfectly understated while these leg-baring frocks reveal that the actress isn’t slowing down her glamour game just yet.  Included in these images are dresses by Dolce & Gabbana, Stella McCartney, & Givenchy, paired with Tory Burch ankle strap sandals.

Since there are so many fabulous details in the dresses above, I’ve found some affordable LBDs to help recreate Anne’s breathtaking noir turn.  First from Forever 21, we have the shawl collar surplice dress ($27.80) & the mesh yoke bodycon dress ($24.80), which is available in sizes XL – 3X. H&M has this belted dress ($34.95) which moves beautifully & can be dressed up with peep toes or worn casually with flats.  To show off your shape, I recommend the ponte knit sheath dress ($48.93) from Express.  If you’re looking to imitate the feel of Anne’s forth look above, head over to Lulu’s for the Motown black dress ($38.00). Lastly, since we are talking about one of the most sought after actresses in all the land, we need to step up our style game just a little & share the Jessica Howard sequin cap sleeve dress ($70.00) @JCP. 

Lastly, to help complete the look, I’ve searched high & low for some of the best accessories. This includes the Forever 21 oval locket necklace ($5.80) & floral pendant necklace ($1.50).  In addition, my shoe choices include the Brash Gemini flat ($26.99) from Payless (which I’ve previously featured in champagne), Charlotte Russe‘s fabric mouse ballet flat ($30.00), sueded ankle wrap pump ($35.50), & Michael Antonio Loveme patent pump ($40.00) @Zappos.

Any time Rachel Zoe adds one more fashion / style credential to her name, Stye Darling will be there.  This time, we’re talking about her Resort 2013 collection, featuring brights, basics, & bold prints.  The always stylish designer / stylist has created an admirable empire that have made stars like Jennifer Garner, Demi Moore, & Anne Hathway red carpet A-listers.  Not to mention that Zoe’s collections @Neiman Marcus are wildly popular, trend-setting, & always gorgeous for us to gasp over.  Here’s a gallery of the latest from the star of The Rachel Zoe Project, which I hope will premiere another season on Bravo sometime soon! Silver Screen Style / Watch This Style: New Movie Trailers for ‘The Great Gatsby’ & ‘Les Miserables!’

Classic literature has never looked so stylish, especially with the motion picture remakes of some of the most well-known stories.  This includes Les Miserables, starring Anne Hathaway, Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Eddie Redmayne, & Amanda Seyfried.  The adaptation from Victor Hugo’s novel & the quintessential Broadway play is set to hit theaters December 14th. Also, for some real high-fashion glamour, director Baz Luhrmann is reinventing F. Scott Fitzgerald jazz-age tragedy, The Great Gatsby, in 3-D with a stellar cast which includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, Tobey Maguire,  Isla Fisher, & Joel Edgerton.  I’ve been following the coverage of this film on Movie Buzzers, but I’ve been dying to share with my Style Darling readers a gimpse of this movie.  The trailer is a dramatic tease of glitz & glory.  Also, be sure to follow that least news on this film here.

Runway Rundown: Check Out Anne Hathaway’s Latest Campaign for Tod’s!

The newly-engaged star of the upcoming Dark Knight Rises & always fashionable Anne Hathaway has returned to TOD’s for another modeling campaign. She is promoting the line’s spring collection featuring Italian-designed leather goods like handbags & clutches, which are available for a hefty cost at stores like Bluefly, Saks Fifth Avenue, & Nordstrom.

Courtesy of People, we’ve learned “The campaign for TOD’s Signature reaches out to a new and younger clientele… We see a stunningly exquisite Anne as a classic beauty with a modern Italian edge — feminine and strong,” according to the brand’s creative director Fabien Baron.

Hathaway admitted, “I have been a longtime fan of TOD’s and was very excited to be a part of exploring a new side of their identity with the launch of their Signature Collection… The designs are classic and the materials are of the highest quality.“

Red Carpet Review / Runway Rundown: Who Loves Dolce & Gabbana’s Stars Print? Fergie, Jessica Alba, Anne Hathaway, & More! That’s Who!

Dolce & Gabbana‘s latest fall / winter collection is headed for the stars- seriously! While playing with classic silhouettes in pencil skirts, flowy blouses, & oversized blazers, the mix of the celestial black & white pattern stands out even more with sequins, lace, animal print, & fur.  These are just a few of the very fabulous runway looks, courtesy of the official website. Even the separate items can be matched with dark denim skinny jeans, a bold tee, & colorful pointed tow heels & socks (as pictured).  To shop for these items, head over to Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Net-A-Porter, & Saks Fifth Avenue.  Which is your favorite?  Do you think stars look juvenile or luxury?

And since this is a partial red carpet post… Over the last few weeks, we’ve seen a slew of celebs of all styles opting for astronomical-inspired looks, as opposed to the tradition go-to polka dots or a simple LBD for camera-ready events.  First there’s Rose McGowan shows off her figured in a ruches sweetheart dress, Fergie isn’t afraid of color in the yellow & black mini, a very pregnant Jessica Alba wears a comfortable & elegant halter, Rosario Dawson plays with voluminous sleeves, Olivia Wilde sneaks around in sequins, Kim Kardashian isn’t afraid to wear curve-hugging stars during the dat, & Lily Allen is ladylike in a white coat & black tights.  Lastly, Evan Rachel Wood & Solange Knowles take on this print in legwear, both pairing the pants with loose-fitting tops & a masculine black jacket!

1/30/11 Darling of the Day: Ali Larter at 2007 Emmy’s in Reem Acra!

At the 2007 Emmy Awards, Heroes star Ali Larter wore a shining crimson gown by Reem Acra.  She was a favorite among critics for her effortless style & glamorous delivery of chic minimalism, while still channeling something Grecian too!  Red is sometimes hard to pull off on the red carpet, you wouldn’t want to blend in, but with the right accessories, this scarlet sweetheart satin gown is a stunning creation & perfect for her slim frame.  The simplicity of the dress screams for accessories & nothing will pop against this quite like diamonds or platinum, but if you’re a Style Darling on a budget, the perhaps sticking to chandelier earrings & a bauble of a cocktail ring will do the trick!
