Watch This Style: Mariah Carey’s Top 5 Most Stylish Music Videos!

Mariah Carey has been in the news a whole lot lately, now that the Grammy-winning singer is the newest judge to join American Idol, as well as releasing her latest single, “Triumphant,” from her forthcoming fourteenth studio album.  However, I thought I’d take a look back at some of my favorite videos by the New York native since she’s one of the biggest selling artists in my lifetime.

Not only do she & I share a love for Marilyn Monroe & Hello Kitty, but she’s constantly trying to show off her bombshell style, even though some attempts are very pageant-ish & don’t make the best dressed lists. When it comes to music, Mariah knows what works for her & I’d like to take a moment to celebrate her accomplishments via my favorite music videos (for their style & songs)! This list includes “We Belong Together,” “Don’t Forget About Us,” “I Still Believe,” “Heartbreaker,” & “Always Be My Baby.”

I’d also like to add that I picked “We Belong Together,” which is my all-time favorite Mariah song, also b/c I think that whoever was responsible for her hair & makeup really nailed her look with elegance & femininity.  The dewy pink lips, fluffy & old school lashes, & natural overall look really make the video one of the most memorable for me, which juxtapose (yes, I used that word) the scenes when she’s wearing lingerie, a tunic mini, & princess-like wedding gown. Happy Styling!

Luxury Look-Alikes For Less: Christian Louboutin & GOjane Reinvent Jellies For Fall!

A few days ago, I was fortunate enough to find this image posted by the one & only, Christian Louboutin Shoes on Facebook, & couldn’t get the idea of cap toe ankle strap jelly heels out of my head. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find them anywhere, not on the Christian Louboutin site, or on Neiman Marcus, but nonetheless, we know that since they’re original Christian Louboutin designs, they’ll be super expensive.

I love the reinvention of jellies in a chic, modern, day-appropriate way & then I came across the cap toe heels ($22.60) from GOjane, which are available in green, pink, orange, yellow, red, & white. These shoes can help translate summer pieces like a neon blouse for fall with a printed pencil skirt, as well as help make retro pieces like a jumpsuit look more youthful & flirty.

What do you think about these shoes by Christian Louboutin & their GOjane counterparts? For more cap toe shoe madness, check out my post featuring pumps worn by Ashley Greene & Sarah Jessica Parker! Happy Styling!

Watch This Style / Ad Madness: First Look At Gucci Premiere’s Commercial Starring Blake Lively!

Of course print ads of celebs starring in campaigns for fragrances are always juicy to look at, especially when we’re talking about Savages star Blake Lively, however almost one month ago, I informed readers of Blake’s collaboration modeling for Gucci Premiere. While I was browsing through the web just recently, I found a short sneak peek at the Gossip Girl actress in motion in a clip from the film that supports the scent.  Under the direction of Nicolas Winding Refn, this golden girl is clad in sequins overlooking the Los Angeles skyline, as well as in a flowing navy gown in the desert.  Take a look at the commercial below & share with readers what you think about this campaign.

Also, for more celebrity-endorsed fragrances, be sure to check out more from Watch This Style, including Liv Tyler for Givenchy’s Irresistible, Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel starring Keira Knightley, & Charlize Theron for Dior.

Top 10 Celeb Sightings: Sheaths, Lace, LBDs, & Ladylike Style Featuring Kate Middleton, Rachel Bilson, & Jessica Biel!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I’ve returned home to the middle-of-nowhere suburbs on Long Island, known for its malls & neighboring university hospital, & as I’m preparing the daunting task of unpacking my overpacked bags from my eleven-day Southampton-based excursion of style & writing, I’m sitting here at my laptop, absorbed in checking on the latest & greatest from my favorite websites (In Style mainly) to see what I’ve missed.

While the Olympics are underway in London & the summer blockbusters are hitting theaters stateside, some of the best dressed celebrities are hitting the red carpet & posing at press events.  Not to mention that all of our favorite fall television shows are returning to production & the stars are plugging their shows & pilots in some serious style. From actresses to singers to royalty, this edition of Top 10 Celeb Sightings is chalk full of chic sheath dresses, lacy frocks, revealing LBDs, & ladylike elegance, sure to spark some water cooler conversation (among Style Darlings, of course).

Check out Emmy Rossum in Zuhair Murad, Jaime King colorblocking, Jessica Biel in Oscar de la Renta, Kate Middleton repeating her Roksanda Ilincic dress, Katy Perry in Dolce & Gabbana, a red-hot Kylie Minogue, Liv Tyler rocking a risky babydoll, Lucy Liu in J. Mendel, Rachel Bilson in menswear-inspired separates, & Rachel Weisz in Dior Haute Couture. Happy Styling!

Quickie Darling Deal & Steal: My Favorite Flip Flops From Wet Seal’s BOGO 50% Off Sale!

Of course all the fashion blogs & style magazines are gearing up for fall, but now is the best time to get your hands (or feet in this case) on some fabulous end-of-the-season deals. This includes the latest BOGO 50% off sale @Wet Seal, which applies to select styles of flip flops, available in a variety of colors.  I recently scored an adorable patent leather purple pair, which I featured in a previous post for The Stylish Five.

Aside from the chic & vibrant hues of these flat sandals, I’m loving the different details which really make them work for nearly any summer-oriented ensemble.  The basic glitter flip flops ($6.50) in gold are also sold in fuchsia, black, & silver, perfect for adding that pop of polish to your poolside outfit.  For some tribal-inspiration, the knotted macrame flip flops ($7.99 – $12.50) add a little something extra to a multi color maxi dress or shorts romper.  The side bow flip flop ($5.99 – $9.50) is just what any feminine beach babe needs to experiments with neon. Lastly, the Brandy braided flip flop ($3.99 – $6.50) is a classic style, available in pink, yellow, blue, silver, & orange.

Also included in this BOGO 50% off sale are the store’s Blue Asphalt jeans & more sandals & wedges! Which flip flop is your favorite? Are you going to shop this sale? Happy Styling!

Ad Madness: Kate Hudson’s Latest Campaign For Ann Taylor!

Back in March, Kate Hudson debuted as the new face & body of Ann Taylor (see post here), sharing with the world that as a busy mom, she’s all about making it work without the fuss, especially when it comes to the elegant day & evening designs that are sold @Ann Taylor.  For the latest fall collection, the actress shares with In Style: Ann Taylor is about making sure women have one place to go where they can shop and still feel chic.

In this same article, I’ve found some behind the scenes images during the shooting for the new campaign, including some fabulous dresses, tops, & skirts. If you’re an AT shopper, be sure to check out the newest arrivals to build your new fall wardrobe! Happy Styling!

Top 10 Celeb Sightings: Casual Cool Featuring Miranda Kerr, Miley Cyrus, Katie Holmes, & More!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I’m still out in Southampton, celebrating all things creative about the written word, but my eye is scouring the classrooms, computer labs, & lecture halls to see what my new friends & classmates are wearing. However, in an effort to stay up to the minute with Style Darling, I’ve been seeing a lot of separates looks on the red carpet, in pics taken by the paparazzo, or out for promotional events. I wanted to capture the cool & casual style of some of my favorite stars, including who are mixing up their denim, accessories, & skirts in unexpected ways. Take a look at the gallery below & share with readers who’s wearing your favorite looks! My personal favorites belong to Miley Cyrus & Anne Hathaway! Happy Styling!

Luxury Look-Alikes For Less: Featuring Fierce & Affordable Leopard Skirts!

I’m a very big fan of animal prints (when worn sparingly), although my print of choice is always almost zebra for its classic black & white color combo. It’s seemingly coy, yet still perfect for accessorizing with radiant reds, blooming blues, or a natural neutral! It’s been a while since I went out the hunt for some Luxury Look-Alikes For Less, so I was clicking through my emails & found a sale going on @BCBG Max Azria. I wanted to check out these supposed sale items & while I love the designs of glittery skirts, flattering trousers, & lacy tops, these were still beyond my budget.  This Simone leopard jacquard skirt ($168.00) is probably worth every penny & will last a very long time for virtually any season. When it comes to a print like this, especially on a skirt, the shoe possibilities are nearly endless when you consider a classic round toe pump, a daring embossed pointed toe stiletto, zip-up knee boots, or gladiator platforms.

In a fury of fashion & frugality (go with me on this) I clicked around on Forever 21‘s website only to rejoice in finding the leopard knee length skirt ($12.80), which is perfect to pair with a crisp button-down shirt, silky cami, simple tee, or sequined tank.  For my Style Darlings who wear plus sizes, the Jessica London pencil skirt ($69.99), is available in sizes 12 – 28.  Although the prices have quite the range for my lovely look-alikes, I can’t emphasize enough how flattering & versatile this piece is.  A pencil skirt lasts & you can reinvent it with over & over again with some layered beads, a cropped cardigan, or metallic belt.  Happy Styling!

Ad Madness: Beyonce’s New Ad For Her Latest Fragrance, Midnight Heat!

Beyonce isn’t just causing a stir on the red carpets these days since the dynamic diva has just released her latest fragrance, Midnight Heat ($59.00), as well as its corresponding ad sure to make the pages of the upcoming September issues of all our favorite magazines.  The singer / actress / dancer is showing off her curvy post-baby body in a feminine, one-shoulder purple mini dress.  If you’re interested in adding this sixth scent, said to contain notes of starfruit, Armenian plum, & dragonfruit in the tradition of the Heat collection, it can be found @Macy’s. Happy Styling!

Quickie Darling Deal & Steal: Steve Madden Markdowns for $34.99!

I haven’t had a chance to visit Steve Madden lately, so in my shoe-loving craze during the conference, I knew I had to find a few minutes to go on the hunt for some affordable summer shoes.  Of course, you’re gonna start seeing all the new fall arrivals, which I love b/c that means that my birthday is coming up! However, end-of-the-season deals are very tangible & can completely change your wardrobe when you least expect it!

Check out these Onasiss peep toe slingback cork heels ($34.99), available in both multi & natural & marked down from their original $109.95 price tag.  Neutrals are great to keep around for those wildly printed dresses or when you want to soften a brightly-hued skirt, but I always recommend to go bold when it comes to shoes.  You’d be surprised how a multi color pattern like this one can really work for your wardrobe.  Break these out with a pair of skinny jeans & silky tank, or get ready for some dancing in a flowy summer dress.

What end-of-the-season deals are you looking for right now? Are you a shoe gal? Can you find these for an even better price? Happy Styling!

Ad Madness: Pretty Little Liars’ Actresses Model For Bongo!

I should’ve known this already, but Bongo is still around! I recently spotted Pretty Little Liars actresses Lucy Hale & Ashley Benson rocking duds from the brand that is currently sold @Sears & KMart.  Aside from finding figure-friendly designs by the Kardashians @Sears, or getting your curve on with Sofia Vergara’s KMart collection, the department stores are revamping their apparel scene in a majorly stylish way! Of course, Bongo is a Juniors’-geared brand, but I’m also happy to share that they also sell plus-sized clothing, like colored denim jeggings ($16.00) up to size 22.  Not to mention, I’m loving Ashley’s sequin front tank top ($12.00$14.00) in the ad on the left!

For more celebrity-fronted ads, be sure to check out more from Ad Madness, including Mila Kunis for Dior & Chloe Grace Moretz for Aeropostale! Happy Styling!

‘Tis the conference season once again & I’m spending some quality writing time out in Southampton, New York- one of my favorite places to visit. However, in between classes, lectures, & readings at this conference, I’m constantly checking to see what’s going on in the world of fashion.  Some of my favorite stars are hitting the red carpet, going about their daily lives, or posing for pictures in some of the most gorgeous looks.  If you’re into separates, evening dresses, or fun frocks, take a look at my latest picks for Top 10 Celeb Sightings! Red Carpet Review: Marion Cotillard & Anne Hathaway Wow In White At Premiere!

At the New York premiere of the highly anticipated The Dark Knight Rises, leading ladies Anne Hathaway & Marion Cotillard stepped out in style, wearing white dresses worth talking about! Anne is donning a plunging white hand-draped Prabal Gurung gown with diamond Kwiat jewelry.  The simplicity of the gown nicely offsets her new cropped ‘do, not to mention that white has always looked gorgeous on the Oscar nominee. Also, French actress Marion is wearing a cocktail dress by Dior, with Chopard jewelry & strappy Christian Louboutins.  Both brunette beauties are turning head & I can’t wait to see what else they’ll be wearing as the film premieres around the world.  Happy Styling!

Watch This Style: No Doubt’s Comeback Single ‘Settle Down’ Video!

As much as I love what Gwen Stefani has been doing in terms of fashion, there’s still that teenaged part of me that loves to see her performing as front woman of No Doubt.  The group, which hasn’t turned out any music in a decade now, has released their first single, “Settle Down,” off of their upcoming record, Push and Shove, which is due out September 25th.  Surely the group will be making a lot of appearances to promote the album, but this video gives us a taste of Gwen’s classic punk / pop / rock style, with bleached locks, a ruby red pout (à la L’Oreal Paris), & funky duds.  In a recent article on In Style, I read that Gwen went to great lengths to put together the customer L.A.M.B. pants that she’s sporting in the video, made from vintage Indian mirrored belts & fabrics.  Take a look at the highly anticipated new video & share the link if you love it!

For more on Gwen & her music, check out a previous post featuring her Top 5 Most Stylish Music Videos! Happy Styling!

Runway Rundown: Gucci’s 2013 Resort Collection!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

While I’ve been scoping out the best & the latest from the runways, I was super excited (as always) to find Gucci’s 2013 Resort Collection, featuring delicate florals, luxe neutrals, dazzling jewels, & lavish gowns. Fans of Gucci include Salma Hayek, Blake Lively, Olivia Wilde, & Drew Barrymore… perhaps we can see these designs come to life during upcoming red carpet events.  I love how inspiring this collection is, especially for future fall styles with thick belts, layers of beads, & statement necklaces.  Check out more from Runway Rundown like Valentino’s Fall 2012 / Winter 2013 Collection, Balenciaga’s Resort 2013 Line, & Herve Leger’s new bandage dresses! Happy Styling!

Silver Screen Style / Watch This Style: Get Swept Away by ‘Oz: The Great & Powerful!’

I was just about to call it quits on the blogging front today- until I saw this trailer! I’d been keeping up with all the latest news around casting & the production of Oz: The Great & Powerful on Movie Buzzers, especially when I heard that the lovely Michelle Williams was going to play Glinda! THe movie is a prequel to the classic Wizard of Oz, starring James Franco as Oz himself, the legendary wizard who started it all.  Also in two are Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, & Zach Braff.  There’s nothing more exciting to me than a fabulously colorful fantasy movie like this, that makes the kid inside all of us smile.

Okay, okay, I realize this isn’t entirely style-related, but when I watch this, even though the trailer shows very little of Michelle, I was reminded how beautiful she looks with long hair.  Let’s hope that more of her on-screen characters in the future don longer locks.  Check out the trailer for the movie which premieres March 8th 2013! Happy Styling!

Ad Madness: Mila Kunis Returns To Dior Sporting New Fall Handbags!

Dior‘s spring spokesmodel Mila Kunis is returning to endorse the brand’s fall handbag line, clad in a retro Hollywood bob- very Jackie O- swarmed by photogs in these black & white shots taken by Mario Sorrenti. Mila, who also graces the cover of Glamour‘s August 2012 issue, can be seen next in Oz: The Great & Powerful, alongside James Franco, Michelle Williams, & Rachel Weisz. For more about Ad Madness, check out posts featuring Chloe Grace Moretz for Aeropostale, Kristen Stewart’s ad debut for Balenciaga, & Blake Lively for Gucci Premiere! Happy Styling!

The Stylish Five: Friday The 13th Deals ($13 & Under!)

Not only can we say TGIF today, but it is Friday, the 13th! So if you’re superstitious, good luck today! In celebration of the often down-on-your-luck lauded day, I’ve added a new post to The Stylish Five, including some stylish deals on items under $13.00.  Of course, with my arsenal of go-to stores, this wasn’t very hard. The hard part was narrowing down my picks to just five pieces!

@Forever 21, this perforated knit cardigan ($12.80) in yellow is perfect for throwing over your favorite summer dress when it starts to get cooler at night.  I love the lemon yellow hue which is perfect to pair with virtually any color under the sun, including tangerine, cornflower blue, slate, & fuchsia.  Next up is a stop @Old Navy for some bangle fun with the satin-covered bracelet ($6.47). The edgy accessory is available in black, orange, yellow, & blue.  Mix them together or wear them with an assortment of other bracelets to create a textured effect.  While we have jewelry on the brain, JCP‘s everyday deals include the Color Craze pink chandelier earrings ($3.00) which will make any maxi dress look all the more exotic or can very easily dress up a shorts romper.

Nothing says classic quite like a button down, & The Limited‘s Collins shirt ($12.99) makes a bold statement in cobalt, but since this is such a great deal, why not splurge on the grey & purple options too? Wear this tucked in with a pencil skirt & pumps or loose over some cropped jeans & wedges.  Lastly, I’ve been searching high & low for the perfect pair of purple flip-flops & I should’ve have known that the Lita flip-flops ($3.99) from Wet Seal would be the answer to my prayers.  These are perfect for any & every casual event, but if you’re looking for more color variety, have no fear b/c they’re also available in yellow, turquoise, & pink!

Which of these five picks is your favorite? What special Friday the 13th deals are you scouring the internet for? Happy Styling!

Quickie Darling Deal & Steal: Skirt Around With This Pleated Colorblock Piece For $12.99!

Pleated skirts are back, if they ever really went out of the style, & even though The Limited is having an end-of-the-season sale event, which includes this pleated colorblocked skirt ($12.99) in purple & black, marked down from its original $69.90 price tag.  It’s only available online in size Small & Medium, however I was able to find the purple pleated knee length skirt ($19.99) from Eloquii by The Limited, which is available in size 14/16. For my curvier Style Darlings, Eloquii is The Limited’s exclusive shop for plus size styles, including slimming dresses, stylish jeans, cute tops, & much more!

Either of these skirts are perfect for right now with ballet flats or strappy platforms & your favorite blouse, or break this bargain out for the fall with textured tights, ankle booties & a cardigan.  The softness of the pleats & stunning color is great for matching with other solids like black, mustard, or even grey.  How would you style this look? How do you like to wear pleated skirts? Happy Styling!

Watch This Style / Runway Rundown: Valentino’s Haute Couture Fall 2012 / Winter 2013 Show!

I’ve been staying on top of all the latest runway shows, trying to add a little more high fashion splash to Style Darling & came across this enchanting video of the latest from Valentino.  The legendary brand’s Haute Couture Fall 2012 / Winter 2013 show is full of dramatic construction, gothic hues, flirty florals, lavish long sleeves, & glamorous gold sparkle, perfect as a platform for next season’s envious styles. I can already see the likes of red carpet veterans like Angelina Jolie, Cate Blanchett, & Meryl Streep donning these unforgettable designs.  You can shop for Valentino @Net-A-Porter, Far Fetch, Neiman Marcus, & Nordstrom!

7/12/2012 Darling Of The Day / Basics For A Bargain: Anne Hathaway’s Cropped ‘Do, LBDs, & Audrey Hepburn Inspiration!

Anne Hathaway has hit the red carpet with a reinvented classic retro vibe, cad with her pixie cut (for Les Miserables), little black dresses, basic black shoes, & elegance pendant necklaces.  The Oscar-nominee is in full swing promoting her latest film, the major summer blockbuster The Dark Knight Rises. The Style Darling‘s looks are elegant, contemporary, youthful, & worth making her the Darling of the Day.

Since I couldn’t pick just one look that I loved, I decided to share the four most recent images of her Audrey Hepburn-inspired style.  Her short ‘do is perfectly understated while these leg-baring frocks reveal that the actress isn’t slowing down her glamour game just yet.  Included in these images are dresses by Dolce & Gabbana, Stella McCartney, & Givenchy, paired with Tory Burch ankle strap sandals.

Since there are so many fabulous details in the dresses above, I’ve found some affordable LBDs to help recreate Anne’s breathtaking noir turn.  First from Forever 21, we have the shawl collar surplice dress ($27.80) & the mesh yoke bodycon dress ($24.80), which is available in sizes XL – 3X. H&M has this belted dress ($34.95) which moves beautifully & can be dressed up with peep toes or worn casually with flats.  To show off your shape, I recommend the ponte knit sheath dress ($48.93) from Express.  If you’re looking to imitate the feel of Anne’s forth look above, head over to Lulu’s for the Motown black dress ($38.00). Lastly, since we are talking about one of the most sought after actresses in all the land, we need to step up our style game just a little & share the Jessica Howard sequin cap sleeve dress ($70.00) @JCP

Lastly, to help complete the look, I’ve searched high & low for some of the best accessories. This includes the Forever 21 oval locket necklace ($5.80) & floral pendant necklace ($1.50).  In addition, my shoe choices include the Brash Gemini flat ($26.99) from Payless (which I’ve previously featured in champagne), Charlotte Russe‘s fabric mouse ballet flat ($30.00), sueded ankle wrap pump ($35.50), & Michael Antonio Loveme patent pump ($40.00) @Zappos.

Which of Anne’s looks do you like the best? Would you ever rock a pixie cut? How do you feel about all the black-on-black? All comments & suggestions are always welcome, so please share! Check out more posts like this in Basics for a Bargain, Luxury Look-Alikes for Less, & Red Carpet Review! Happy Styling!

Red Carpet Review: Funny Lady Leslie Mann Steps Out In Style!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

So this isn’t my typical gallery… Funny lady Leslie Mann, best known for her roles in Knocked Up & The Change-Up, has been hitting red carpets under the radar for quite some time now.  However, the actress (& wife to director Judd Apatow) is climbing the style ranks, especially after several appearances during Paris Fashion Week.  I put together a little collection of some of her best looks from recent events & a few years ago.  The svelte blonde turned 40 years old this year, but is looking better than ever with the classic elegance of a veteran red carpet regular.  My favorite look is her Armani Prive LBD! Kudos to Leslie Mann! Happy Styling!

While I always loves me a Middleton duo, I have to admit that my favorite look is worn by Victoria Beckham.  The former spice girl & revolutionary designer knows how to wear a dress! Happy Styling!

It was a no-brainer to search for his latest Resort 2013 Collection, especially when some of my favorite red carpet regulars like Michelle Williams, Diane Kruger, & Emma Stone have been spotted wearing feminine frocks from the line.  If you’re all about lace, florals, classic silhouettes, & fierce colors, then this one collection you can’t miss.  Be sure to click through the gallery & share which looks are your favorites!
