Fashion Flashback: Kristen Bell’s Best Red Carpet Moments for Her 41st Birthday!

When it comes to celebrity A-listers & flawless style, Kristen Bell has been quietly—or not so much—dominating the red carpet for major awards shows, film premieres, press junkets, promotional appearances, & more! While the Frozen star is always a pleasure to watch entertain us in movies & on the small screen, the busy mom of two, podcast host, & children’s book author does it all, making it look easy & fashionable! Additionally, The Good Place actress celebrates her 41st birthday today & her feminine, timeless, sometimes bold, & quirky style is worth celebrating as well!

Take a look at the gallery below of some of her most memorable and breathtaking gowns and special occasion looks:

Next, Kristen also kills it when in a midi or mini dress, knowing when to keep it playful, cocktail, or letting her style-setter side show, as seen below:

Also, some stars are photographed hustling about, between events or just, in general, on the go, which makes for perfect style blogging fodder when they do it in stylish outerwear. Kristen is no exception.

Last but not least, Kristen is a masterful fashionista when it comes to outfits, blending mom-chic look with trendy pieces. She really can wear anything from neon to leather to to prints & knits to knee boots to oversize sweaters.

What do you think of Kristen‘s red carpet style? Which gown is your favorite of hers? What opinions do you have about her outerwear or outfits? What is your favorite film or TV show that she has appeared it? 06/28/2022 Darling of the Day: Kristen Bell’s Neon Cropped Blazer & PVC Heels!

Neon is always the best way to go for summer, even when coordinating a professional ensemble. Additionally, monochrome neon makes a bold statement that not only turns heads, but inspires us to expand our work wardrobes & experiment in unexpected ways. For example, Kristen Bell knows all about neon, continuing her recent style reign while balancing the monikers: The Good Place star, We Are Supported By… podcast host, supermom, & now author of the children’s book The World Needs More Purple Schools. Recently, while promoting the book, Kristen was spotted in New York City in this neon cropped blazer & coordinating high-waist trousers, along with PVC sandals, round sunglasses, a Anine Bing handbag (shop here), & gold earrings.

While the cropped blazer bit may not be the go-to look for every professional Style Darling, it definitely inspires a new way to think not only about blazers, but also about the blouse that could pair underneath it. In an effort to recreate Kristen’s look, check out the below suggestions:

SHOP: 1. cropped suiting blazer in neon green @We Wore What (available in sizes XS-XL, sale: $59.25), 2. Silver Treasures 14K gold round hoop earrings in onyx @JCPenney (sale: $33.00), 3. retro round sunglasses in black @Sunglasses To Go ($11.95), 4. high rise pleated suiting pant in neon green @We Wore What (available in sizes 00-14, $79.00), 5. A New Day small satchel handbag in black @Target ($35.00), & 6. Wild Pair Zandria clear vinyl dress sandals @Macy’s (sale: $41.70).

Since the suiting pair had limited size availability, I expanded my search to include my plus-size readers who are interested & eager to jump on board the neon & green, finding some affordable, stylish options below:

SHOP: high low peplum blazer in neon lime @Rainbow (sale: $11.99), tabbed sleeve blazer in lime @Rainbow ($24.97), tabbed sleeve blazer in Kelly green @Rainbow ($24.97), & high-waisted flare pants in Kelly green @Rainbow (sale: $7.79).

What do you think of Kristen’s street style? Would you wear head-to-toe neon or a cropped blazer? What’s your favorite style blazer? Which celebrity’s style do you love to follow? The 2013 Golden Globe Awards are still airing, but I just couldn’t wait any longer to post this very thorough gallery. Some of my favorite looks include Tina Fey (in L’Wren Scott), Jennifer Lopez (in Zuhair Murad), Katharine McPhee (in Theyskens’ Theory), Kerry Washington (in Miu Miu), Emily Blunt (in Michael Kors), Lucy Liu (in Carolina Herrera), Rachel Weisz (in Louis Vuitton), Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (in Saint Laurent Paris)… just to name a few!

Top trends included lots of black & gold, as seen on Kate Hudson (in Alexander McQueen), Helen Mirren (in Badgley Mischka), & Nicole Kidman (in Alexander McQueen), as well as reds & oranges like Jennifer Lawrence (in Christian Dior Haute Couture), Jessica Alba (in Oscar de la Renta), Marion Cotillard (in Dior), Claire Danes (in Versace), & Zooey Deschanel (in Oscar de la Renta).

Also, you can’t forget about the black looks, some of which I’ve named in my favorites, but I also loved Julianne Moore (in Tom Ford), Adele (in Burberry), Allison Williams (in J. Mendel), Debra Messing (in Donna Karan Atelier), Sofia Vergara (in a floor-length sequin gown), Eva Longoria (in Pucci), & Salma Hayek (in Gucci).

Lastly, softer nearly colorless colors had their place with Anne Hathaway (in Chanel), Lea Michele (in Elie Saab), Amy Adams (in Marchesa), Amanda Seyfried (in Givenchy), Megan Fox (in Dolce & Gabbana), & Hayden Panettiere (in Roberto Cavalli)!

It’s been a whirlwind for celebrities recently, what with movie premieres, prepping for the Emmy’s, press appearances, & charity gatherings, yet I’ve been able to sift through some of the best looks for my Style Darlings.  It seems that our favorite ladies of the red carpet haven’t forgotten to dress like ladies, especially since they’re all sporting pretty dresses with pumps, just enough plunging necklines, & figure-flattering frocks.  I’ve been keeping an eye out for the fall trends as well, finding that suit separates are one of the top trends, but I’ll save that for another post since 9/10 of these Style Darlings are pants-free.

Click around through the gallery to see more of fashionable actress Camilla Belle in Jason Wu, Eva Longoria looking red-hot (& affordable) in ASOS, Jennifer Lopez making a splash in Las Vegas wearing Edition by Georges Chakra, the soon-to-be Mrs. Timberlake, Jessica Biel, in bridal white by Giambattista Valli, Dallas star Jordana Brewster in Dolce & Gabbana, Total Recall badass Kate Beckinsale in neon Preen, Hit & Run actress Kristen Bell in a Jenny Packham jumpsuit, Glee songstress Lea Michele baring her assets in Giorgio Armani, rising star Olivia Munn in Raquel Allegra, & the always adorkable New Girl, Zooey Deschanel in polka dots! This has been a busy week for celebrity style bloggers, what with the MTV Movie Awards, CFDA Fashion Awards, & the always-fun Country Music Television Awards.  Some of the best looks of the night featured high-wattage sparkle, feminine frills, & sleek sheaths.  My favorites include the show-stopping & leggy Carrie Underwood, Ashley Greene, & Kristen Bell! Basics for a Bargain: Best Black Jackets For Day & Night (Dedicated to Laurie)!

During a recent breakfast date with my uber-stylish friend Laurie, the subject of blazers came up since she’s in search of a jacket with enough flair to dress up a going out look, but one that can also be worn for a daytime casual look.  Because a black blazer is such an essential item, I thought I’d turn to some of my favorite celebrities for some inspiration on the different styles of blazers for a number of different occasions.

First off, we have Olivia Palermo in a velvet Giambattista Valli mini dress with brogues from Zara & a Mango clutch.  She tops her look with a button-embellished jacket for a more polish at a Macy’s event.  Fergie attended an affair for Black Eyed Peas in a feathered & gold skirt with a satin-trim blazer & Christian Louboutins.  Rachel Weisz paired her velvet jacket with leather leggings at the DVD launch for Deep Blue Sea.  At the premiere of Sandra Bullock‘s latest film, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, the Oscar-winner donned an Alexander McQueen suit with a plunging jacket & corset-inspired belt.  Jessica Alba went out for a stroll in West Hollywood, pairing a single-button jacket with a high-neck white dress & black tights.  Lastly, Kristen Bell played down her cropped pink trousers with a Rachel Zoe tuxedo jacket & satin pointy toe pumps.

When looking for a blazer that works for you, there are a lot of factors to take into account like fit around the waist, where the sleeves fall, & details like trim & structure.  Since jackets are investment pieces, these bargains are a little higher in price, but totally worth it if you find one that works best for your shape.  I picked out a variety of jacket suggestions to be worn casually with shorts & tights, with your favorite dark denim jeans & a button-down top, over an LBD, or over a sequin cocktail dress.

The classic two-button blazer ($59.99) from Gap ranges in sizes 0 – 20 & has been marked down from its original $98.00 price tag.  There’s plenty of room here to add a fancy antique brooch if it looks too office-ready for a going out ook.  If you’re looking for something with some built-in personality, try the zebra stripe textured blazer ($32.80) from Forever 21.  A dressy option for a jacket comes from JC Penney, the MNG by Mango tuxedo jacket with satin trim ($60.00) is just enough to wear over a blouse or with a jersey dress & metallic belt.  If details like buttons are your thing, the H&M blazer ($59.95) is not just available in black, but also light pink & bright blue.  A classic single-button stretch jacket ($48.96) like the one from New York & Company adds confidence to a t-shirt & jeans look, especially with knee boots & hoop earrings.  Lastly, I remembered my recent post about Kmart’s Sofia by Sofia Vergara collection & the velvet tuxedo blazer ($31.99) came to mind, especially if worn with a slinky cami & skinny pants.

For more Basics for a Bargain looks, check out scarves inspired by Claire Danes & Rihanna, tees & leather like Miranda Kerr, & look-alike sweater dresses to those worn by Nicole Richie & Eva Mendes! How do you wear your favorite blazers? Where are your favorite places to shop for blazers? Happy Styling!

Basics for a Bargain: Pencil Skirts Inspired by Jennifer Lopez, Kate Bosworth, & More!

The best way to revamp your wardrobe from season to season is by freshening up your essential, basic pieces.  In this new series of blogs on Style Darling, I’ll be bringing to you some irresistible selections of the basics necessary for the most fashionable foundation of a wardrobe.  Items such as a button down shirt, pair of black trousers, trench coat, LBD, or patent leather pumps are the timeless building blocks for any Style Darling’s budget-conscious look.

It’s no secret that a must-have basic item for all body types is a pencil skirt. Here we have some inspiration from just a few of the best dressed stars of the red carpet who are wearing pencil skirts, like Jennifer Lopez, Kate Bosworth, Whitney Port, & Abbie Cornish.  This isn’t just a piece that you can wear to a special event since it’s versatile for work (although beware of sequins!), as well as a date night. You’ll look poised & professional in a classic pencil skirt with any number of special touches to really add some polish, such as a contrasting blazer, knee boots for a short hemline, an off-shoulder dolman top, peep toes, or an embellished cardigan.

Take a look at these six choices below, which are all under $40.  When you have to put together an outfit on a budget, starting off with flattering items like these helps you spend a little more on the extras that make your look really special.

While I’m not featuring any basic black pencil skirts in this installment, I’d like to have some fun with different textures & patterns which create visual interest & more dimension- key if you’re trying to make a good impression at a work function!  First we have a denim pencil skirt (far right) that doesn’t even look like it’s denim, perfect for a solid fringed top & open toe zip-up booties. Navy is always an elegant choice, which can be made even more regal with a black blouse, an animal print belt, & cross-strap sandals.   Speaking of some animal print, take a strut on the wild side & get some fabulous red pumps, a cocktail ring, & sequined clutch to steal the spotlight!

A lace skirt calls for something uber feminine, so go with a bold floral cami & crystal drop earrings. Black & white looks excite me a whole lot because here’s where you can show off a trendy pop of color in a pump or cardigan, while still offering up a truly classic look.  And lastly, much like the Kate Bosworth look above, we have a faux leather camel pencil skirt that goes perfectly with a military blouse, hoop earrings, & metallic pointed toe pumps.

For next time, watch out for some deals on sandals, shorts, or perhaps we’ll be taking a look at the best denim picks!  Also, feel free to share with readers your favorite pencil skirt stories, or where you know a great sale is for this figure-flattering favorite. If you’re still looking for pencil skirt inspiration, check out some of my other favorite celebrity looks like Jessica Stroup, Olivia Wilde, Kristen Bell, & Jayma Mays.  All comments, questions, suggestions are always welcome.  Happy Styling!
