Cover Craze: 36 International September Issue Covers!

Last year when I posted the amazing September issues, I featured a mere 21, but even though we’re already into the ninth calendar month, I figured that in celebration of New York Fashion Week (#NYFW), I’d expand & look for more. My mailbox is bursting with the American issues of some of my favorite magazines, but I was also delighted to see A-listers like Claire Danes, Keira Knightley, Kate Bosworth, & Mia Wasikowska on international covers. Basics For A Bargain: Pointy Animal Print Flats, Tom Ford Vs. Old Navy!

I am all over the new September issues of my favorite fashion magazines, loving all of the style inspiration inside the pages, especially when I’m seeking Basics for a Bargain. So, Lucky magazine is among my go-to publications to expand my wardrobe, as well as shoe & accessories collections. I’m always a big fan of animal prints, which make a great neutral as accessories with some bold solid pieces like a sheath dress & pumps, a belted jumpsuit, or crisp separates with sandals. Now that I’m looking ahead to the fall, I’m pretty excited about wearing flats when I’m headed out & about to my jobs & class. In the pages of Lucky, I found these gorgeous panther print hair calf padlock ballerina flats ($1,190.00) in cognac by the one & only, Tom Ford.

Leopard flats. Tom Ford & Old Navy.

I was immediately reminded of my recent coupon-toting excursion to Old Navy, where I found these animal print d’orsay flats ($16.00). However, the pair that I ended up bringing home was actually reduced to under $8 in stores. I tried these pointy toe flats on & was very excited at the possibilities of how I can wear them: with a little black dress, a cardigan-blouse-pencil skirt combo, & when I’m trying to transition some of my summer favorites into fall like a maxi dress & denim jacket.

For more fashionable animal print flats on the market right now, check out other picks from Steve Madden, Christian Siriano for Payless, Lucky brand @DSW, & Nine West. Where do you like to shop for new fall footwear? What designer do you turn to for style inspiration? Drew Barrymore for Lucky May 2013

Drew Barrymore is Hollywood royalty, but still keeps a down-to-earth air that makes her one of America’s sweetest sweethearts. She recently shared her secrets to motherhood, breaking into the wine business, & creating her new cosmetics line, Flower, for Walmart in an interview with Lucky‘s May 2013 issue. The cover shoot included lots of fun & flirty looks that share Drew’s effervescent happy glow.

In the video below, we get a sneak peek at Drew during her cover shoot, playing around with fashion, makeup, & sharing with the world why she’s still any girl’s on-screen best friend, exuding joy & embracing every opportunity. “If you have good intentions, everything just works out,” she tells the magazine, adding, “And—I don’t think you can have it all. Something’s got to fall off the table. Let it fall, mourn it & move on. You’ll get your focus back. You can do a couple of things really well. We come from this generation of women where God forbid you give something up. It’s scary to let go, but you make so much more room for yourself that way.”

Cover Craze: Jennifer Lopez Wears Fendi For Harper’s Bazaar, Zooey Deschanel’s Blue Prabal Gurung Frock For Glamour, Cosmopolitan Gets Julianne Hough & More For February 2013!

There are so many great covers coming out for the fabulous February issues of my favorite magazines & I’m definitely looking forward to flipping through the magazine’s pages to learn about what’s going on in the glamorous celebrity lives of these multi-faceted actresses & Style Darlings.

First up, Jennifer Lawrence shares her million dollar smile for Vanity Fair‘s cover, including some nuggets of her always charming humor in the featured article.  Zooey Deschanel doesn’t compromise her adorkable look for Glamour in a befitting Prabal Gurung sweetheart dress in aqua.  Perks of Being a Wallflower actress Emma Watson reveals her post Harry Potter plans & how she never compromises her work ethic in an edgy rock star shorts look for Marie Claire UK. Jennifer Lopez gets fierce in Fendi for a silvery, sexy look for next month’s Harper’s Bazaar. Dancer / actress / singer Julianne Hough talks about her relationship with Ryan Seacrest & personal goals for Cosmopolitan‘s love issue!Jennifer Lawrence for Vanity Fair, Zooey Deschanel for Glamour, Emma Stone for Marie Claire UK, Jennifer Lopez for Harper's Bazaar, Julianne Hough for Cosmopolitan, Katharine McPhee for Lucky, Jessica Chastain for InStyle UK, & AnnaSophia Robb for Teen Vogue.

As we anticipate the return of Smash, former American Idol singer Katharine McPhee gets a bold striped look for Lucky.  Hollywood it-girl, Jessica Chastain, makes her mark on InStyle UK‘s cover in a feminine Christian Dior look.  Lastly, I don’t normally follow teen magazines, but The Carries Diaries is about to premiere on January 14th & the show’s star, AnnaSophia Robb, is featured on Teen Vogue, looking every bit a young Carrie Bradshaw.

What covers are your favorite? Which magazines do you love to follow from month-to-month? Happy Styling!

The Stylish Five: The Limited’s Sale Items ($10 & Under)!

I was flipping through March’s issue of Lucky magazine with Heidi Klum on the cover & came across an ad for The Limited’s new spring collection featuring this dress. I’m all about the polka dots, but while I’m on a post-vacation budget, I need to focus on buying only the necessities, or perhaps items that come from scoring really awesome deals. I like to put a price tag on these like finding something $10 or under that’s both fashionable & functional throughout the year, thus we have The Stylish Five.

The easiest items to pick out are always accessories. They’re so versatile & can really make the most basic black dress or t-shirt & jeans seem more luxurious. A cocktail ring like this one would look very mod against a hot pink dress, or serve nicely for a look with a lot of print or pattern. As for the pearl drop earrings, nothing says sophisticated glamour like pearls that can be worn with a maxi dress in the summer, or with your favorite tweed blazer. I love these textured tights, which really bring more dimension to your outfit if paired with something menswear-inspired. As for the tops, the snowflake tee may seem a little bit on the novelty side, but with the right pair of leggings, a chunky scarf, & leather jacket, it’s your go-to sparkle piece. The tunic is in a rich ‘Gosford Pink’ & totally appropriate for so many occasions.  The jewel tone is one of the colors of the upcoming season. Try it with a flyaway cardigan & ballet flats for an uber-comfortable casual day out & about. Happy Styling!

Quickie Darling Deal & Steal: Sophie Theallet Designs for Nine West!

While doing my religious clicking around on my favorite sites like In Style & Lucky Magazine, I came across some serious style news & when it comes to shoes, I drop everything, including my jaw over these two delicious creations to the right. French designer Sophie Theallet has created a new line this spring for Nine West.  She presents a fresh take on stripes with sandals, espadrilles, & flats.  You can’t forget about the bags & accessories, check ’em all out here

These would contrast so nicely with something very utilitarian like a shorts romper or dress down some satin pants.  Sweet details likes a ruffled edge & gold buckle make for a more expensive look for shoes that start at $109.00.  This collection won’t be available until May 11th in store!

Perhaps the next time you receive an email from Nine West, you’ll get all the latest information on sales. As of right now, the website has an end-of-season sale of up to 70% off boots, shoes, & accessories.  While we look ahead to spring, we can still stock up on marked down goodies for next fall / winter!

If you’re looking for a patterned ankle strap shoes like Sophie Theallet’s, but for you’re on a budget like me, & $109 is just too much… well, I’ve got just the thing for you!  Check out these four selections below that don’t go above $45! Happy Styling!
