Ad Madness: Jennifer Lawrence’s Debut Ads For Dior’s Miss Dior!

Jennifer Lawrence for Dior's Miss Dior

Jennifer Lawrence might just be the most buzzed about celebrity this weekend, especially since the Oscars are tomorrow & she’s up for her second nomination as Best Actress (this time for Silver Linings Playbook). The undeniably charming & gorgeous starlet has been spotted all over the red carpet in designs by Dior, but now we can finally start talking about her long-awaited debut as the face of Miss Dior.

Jennifer Lawrence for Dior's Miss Dior

These recently released ads show the sometimes brunette actress clutching an assortment of quilted handbags, donning decadent jewels, & even gazing longingly behind a netted veil, all styled by Olivier Rizzo with looks from Raf Simons‘ Spring 2013 Ready-To-Wear Collection. There’s no doubt that the Willy Vanderperre-shot ads are elegant & chic, but I’d love to see the fun & youthful side of Lawrence’s personality shine through more in future ads. Perhaps something beachy & flirty for the summer? Who knows?

Watch This Style: Chanel Reinvents La Montre PREMIERE!

In a world where everyone owns a cell phone, tinkers with a tablet on the subway, or uses other such jacked-up flat screen electronic devices at all times, it seemed unnecessary for me to wear a watch since a digital answer was just a click away. However, thanks to a very special someone <3, my favorite Hello Kitty watch has been revamped with a gorgeous new white leather band, a holiday gift which also included a new battery so that its inside hands may carry on. I’ve rediscovered my appreciation for a timepiece- not to mention the value of time, especially when it comes to cherishing the moments that can define a shared connection between two people. Such untimed flashes of emotion include hearing I-love-you & saying it back for the first time, getting lost in one another’s embraces outside during the first snowfall of a relationship & in the stark coldness of a brisk parking lot just before two cars pull away separately, or lastly, how there’s an automatic response to reach across a sticky table surface to hold one’s watch-adorned hand since those fingers belong entangled together more so than any invention with wheels or springs could ever measure. Yes, time has been on my mind.

While this post shares the latest in watch design from Chanel, wearing something with Hello Kitty’s pink-bowed face on it with rhinestones & a silver-tone frame from an Avon catalogue doesn’t necessarily fall on the same level of luxury. It’s still nonetheless valuable in more ways than I could ever put into words, always reminding me the hour of the day, as well the individual who I’ll hold in my heart as time continues to tick away- a metronome for when our song may commence again. To each their own…

However, in the recent down time that I’ve had while enduring the aftermath of last weekend’s winterstorm Nemo, I was able to catch up on some movies that were taking up space on my DVR, including Coco Before Chanel, starring the always lovely Audrey Tautou as the couturière. The film follows Gabrielle Chanel, starting with her days before adopting the nickname Coco, falling in love for the first time, & experiencing her first & only tragic heartbreak. She develops her own fashion sense once moving to the the French countryside, inspired mainly by menswear. She was progressive in rejecting what she thought were gaudy embellishments, as well as offensive & uncomfortable silhouettes for women in real life. Which brings me to my ultimate point…

Chanel La Montre Premiere

The House of Chanel has recently reinvented & re-issued their La Montre PREMIERE watch, which was first released in 1987. Sadly, Chanel herself never designed a watch for the brand in her lifetime, but details like its octagonal case, diamond & pearl decoration in each variation, as well as delicate, yet structured links channel the legendary icon’s personal sense of fashion. I found the video below, which shows the watch in action, mixed with modern-day casual looks, streetwear for the girl-on-the-go, office-friendly outfits, cocktail frocks, & everything in between, needlessly proving the longevity of Chanel style. Yes, that’s a time-related pun in there.

Runway Rundown: Marchesa’s Fall 2013 Ready-To-Wear Collection!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

In the past, I’ve always celebrated the designs of Marchesa, & this season’s latest from the brand’s Fall 2013 Ready-To-Wear Collection during New York Fashion Week is no exception! Not that I’m looking to ignore today’s holiday on the calendar, but I wanted to show one of my true loves in fashion! Co-founding & design duo Georgina Chapman & Keren Craig feature a luxe, vintage feel on the runway with plenty of embroidery to go around. The combination of red & gold, black & gold, black & silver call to mind inspiration from past season collections including Alexander McQueen or Carolina Herrera. Marchesa’s designs are nothing short of breath-taking- sure to attract celebrities like Blake Lively, Eva Longoria, Jennifer Lopez, & Naomi Watts to don the ornate gowns as this year’s awards season is about to come to a close at the end of February.

What do you think about the collection? Do you like Marchesa’s decadent direction for fall? Who can you picture wearing these looks? Watch This Style: An Inside Look At The First 5 Episodes Of ‘Girls’ Season 2!

GIRLS

I’m a huge fan of HBO‘s Girls & watched the entire first season about 3 or 4 times over. We’re already halfway through the sophomore season, which stars Lena Dunham, Allison Williams, Zosia Mamet, & Jemima Kirke. I can’t believe I just came across the HBO YouTube videos which feature an inside look at each of this season’s episodes, where show creator, writer, star, & director, the all-mighty & powerfully charming & brilliant Golden Globe-winner Lena talks about her inspiration behind the episodes.

GIRLS

Also, costume designer, Jennifer Rogien has shared her ideas about coming up with the individual styles of each character: Hannah, Marnie, Shoshanna, & Jessa. “We joke amongst ourselves that Marnie probably lives at Lord & Taylor and Bloomingdale’s, while Shoshanna is a mix between Saks & H&M & Zara. We love that Shoshanna wears Shoshanna,” Rogien has shared with The Daily Beast, adding, “Jessa is clearly a world traveler so she collects things … Hannah, being so vintage-driven, none of that is shot for editorial, so it was Etsy girls, & style blogs, and [I] pulled some stuff from Madewell & Anthropologie.”

Check out the 5 videos below & share with readers your favorite looks! Whose style is your favorite? Which character do you like the best? Happy Styling!

Watch This Style: Catch Justin Timberlake’s Grammy’s Performance Again!

Justin Timberlake at the Grammys

There’s no doubt that last night’s Grammys were all about powerhouse performances, & Justin Timberlake was one of the most buzzed-about acts, especially since his latest album, The 20/20 Experience, is hitting shelves next month. The Tom Ford-clad talent hit the stage with Jay-Z for “Suit & Tie,” while both wives (Jessica Biel in Oscar de la Renta & Beyoncé Knowles in Osman, respectively) watched & smiled. If you missed Justin’s retro-style performance, or loved it & wanted to watch it again, check out the video below & share it with you friends!

Ad Madness / Watch This Style: Behind-The-Scenes For Versace’s Spring / Summer 2013 Ad Campaign!

Versace Spring Summer 2013 ad campaign

Looking outside my window, I see hip-high layers of snow slowly melting down & all I can think about it spring. I love dresses, light layers, & pops of color. While New York Fashion Week is currently underway, we can catch a glimpse of the best spring styles in the latest magazines hitting newsstands this month. In the mean time, for the res of us here in the Northeast, I’d like to jump on the spring bandwagon with the latest ads for Versace‘s Spring / Summer 2013 Collection. The sultry & sexy desert beach-themed ads features models Daria Werbowy & Joan Smalls, clutched by the arms of some very well-oiled scantily clad men. Of course, the lovely ladies are adorned with Versace’s metallic-heavy accessories with coin necklaces, studded bags, & knee-high gladiator sandals.

In the video below, we can get a behind-the-scenes look at the shoot, including quick shots of Donatella Versace at work. What are your favorite spring trends? Are you shopping the newest arrivals yet? Which are your favorite pieces from the brand?

Runway Rundown: Victoria’s Beckham’s Fall 2013 Ready-To-Wear Collection!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I’ve been hearing so much about the big trends for the upcoming season, including the color emerald, black & white colorblocking, & more menswear inspiration, but from what I’ve seen so far, it looks like Victoria Beckham‘s Fall 2013 Ready-To-Wear Collection is hitting all the right notes for fall. This includes cobalt as a standout hue against neutrals like slate, charcoal, & jet, as well as plaid with blue highlights. This was also evident in the Holmes & Yang Fall 2013 Collection, which I recently featured in a Runway Rundown post! Which looks do you like the best? What trends are you following for 2013? Red Carpet Review: The 55th Annual Grammys Featuring Jennifer Lopez, Carly Rae Jepsen, Taylor Swift & more!

The 55th Annual Grammy Awards are currently underway & there was a lot to talk about during tonight’s red carpet, especially since there was a lot of buzz going around behind the dress code & baring of certain body parts in order to keep the event classy & not trashy. Well, based on what we’ve seen from Beyoncé (in Osman), Rihanna (in custom Azzedine Alaia), Carrie Underwood (in Roberto Cavalli), Jennifer Lopez (in Anthony Vaccarello), Carly Rae Jepsen (in Roberto Cavalli), Kelly Rowland (in Georges Chakra), & Natasha Bedingfield (in Emerson), the night was all about effortless elegance, trendy black dresses, pretty lace accents, celebrating décolletage, & lots of sheer overlay. Some other favorites included Katy Perry (in Gucci), Adele (in Valentino), Florence Welch (in Givenchy), Taylor Swift (in J. Mendel), Nicole Kidman (in Vera Wang), & Faith Hill (in J. Mendel).

Who was your favorite on the red carpet? Are you excited to watch the telecast? Which trends are you following on the red carpet? For more from Red Carpet Review, check out the latest galleries from the BAFTA Awards, SAG Awards, & Golden Globes. Happy Styling!

Red Carpet Review: The 2013 BAFTA Awards, Featuring Jennifer Garner, Jessica Chastain, Marion Cotillard, & More!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This weekend’s nasty snowstorm named Nemo threw off my red carpet coverage during this awards season, but luckily, I was able to catch up with the winners from the 2013 BAFTA Awards, which included amazing looks by Anne Hathaway (in Burberry), Jessica Chastain (in Roland Mouret), Jennifer Garner (in Roland Mouret), Marion Cotillard (in Christian Dior Couture), & Amy Adams (in Elie Saab). Trends included lots of black, as well as black & white, as seen on Hayley Atwell (in Antonio Berardi), Juno Temple (in Stella McCartney), Samantha Barks (in Celia Kritharioti), & Sarah Jessica Parker (in Elie Saab). Marion Cotillard wasn’t the only starlet in yellow, which was also seen on Andrea Riseborough (in Vivienne Westwood), so perhaps at the Oscars later this month, we’ll be able to see more of the bright color.

Who wore your favorite look? Which celeb has the best style during this awards season? Do you like the all-black trend that’s been hitting the red carpet? Fabulous In 4 Ways: An Old Navy Graphic Tee For Day, Weekend, Date, & Cocktail!

There’s so much going on in fashion right now & all of the latest spring styles have been hitting retailers, which means that it’s time to consider how you can revamp your wardrobe for the upcoming season. One trick that I recently experimented with was how to dress up a graphic tee for more than just a day look, which is the inspiration behind my latest Fabulous in 4 Ways post. I’m always drawn to pretty t-shirts with fashion-related designs, something Parisian, or a classic Hello Kitty print, however the watercolor-graphic v-neck tee ($14.94) in lodge khaki from Old Navy caught my eye for its modern look over a neutral hue. I’ve decided to share how to style this top for day, weekend, date, & cocktail, ranging in price from $83.52 – $133.48.

For the day look, I loved bringing out fun colors like the 1969 always skinny jeans ($21.99) in lemon meringue from Gap & pairing it with the Christian Siriano Camile bow flat ($26.99) in dark green from Payless. Of course there’s always dark denim as an option, but I loved the neutrality of the tabbed sleeve jacket ($22.50) in Olive from Wet Seal. For an extra splash of style, I picked the 1928 jet-tone filigree teardrop earrings ($5.00) from Kohl’s, which will dress up any casual look & even work with a sheath or LBD for a night out on the town.

When you’re headed away for the weekend, consider comfortable options like the Mossimo Supply Co. bootcut denim ($22.99) in dark wash from Target. To add some extra height to this already casual chic look, I love the basic longline cardigan ($12.80) in black from Forever 21, which gives that boyfriend-sweater menswear look, especially when paired with the Michael Antonio Mallory bootie ($24.99) in black from Piperlime. Lastly, the tribal style bangle set ($7.80) in gold / dark brown from Forever 21 highlight the colors in the graphic tee & bring some extra personality to the whole ensemble.

On the flipside, experiment with this graphic tee, or any printed top for a cocktail look with the feminine skirt ($29.95) in black from H&M & edgy Jacquez jacket ($24.98) in jet black from G by Guess. To contrast the softness of the watercolor butterflies, I choose Charlotte Russe‘s spiked zip-back sueded pumps ($38.50) in black, which complimented the two tone chevron statement necklace ($12.90) from Windsor Store.

A date night look is the perfect opportunity for dressing up a graphic tee, especially when there are options like The Limited‘s silver & rose gold sequin jacket ($49.99) with the faux leather moto leggings ($39.80) in black from Forever 21. Sexy accessories for this look include the sparkling geo drop earrings ($4.80) in black / gold, also from Forever 21, as well as the patent faux leather pumps ($23.95) in black from GOjane, which have been recently marked down.

Runway Rundown: Chanel’s Spring 2013 Haute Couture Collection!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

New York Fashion Week is underway, Nemo or no Nemo, & while fashion critics are braving the blizzard to see what’s going on for the ultra chic Fall 2013 Ready-To-Wear Collections, I wanted to share some of the best Spring 2013 Haute Couture Collections, including Chanel. I’ve previously featured collections from the legendary French brand, including the Fall 2012 Haute Couture Collection & the latest Pre-Fall 2013 Collection, which continuously prove the decadence of the luxury behind the Chanel empire.

This latest line follows suit with classic tweeds in washed pastels, as well as floral details, lace accents, uber-high peep toe boot leggings, & a mix of leather & feathers. While the head-to-toe runway looks are perfect for editorials & perhaps a promotional appearance for Lady Gaga, there are so many pieces that will certainly scream out to stylish celebrities like Alexa ChungBlake Lively, Keira Knightley, Clemence Poesy, & Diane Kruger.

Splurge or Save… On Pink Jeans!

The neon trend just isn’t going away & why should it? With the latest trend in colored jeans, I wanted to play up the popularity of spring hues after my last Splurge or Save? post, featuring neon blouses. There were just so many different pinks to pick from & styles in skinny jeans that can work for so many looks.

First, I headed over to Forever 21 with the colored skinny jeans ($19.80), which are also available in four other neon colors to mix & match with everyday wardrobe essentials. Next up the price point ladder are the Sophie perfect fit skinny jeans ($30.00) from JC Penney, which can work for a casual day with ballet flats, a graphic tee, & a leather jacket, or for a night out with the girls in a sequin tank & strappy sandals. The jeans that caught my eye to inspire this post are the modern slim denim jeans ($59.99) from Ann Taylor, which have been marked down from their original $88.00 price tag. Not only are these perfect for any age, but I also love the look of ExpressStella colored jean legging ($79.90), which will punch up any casual Friday look at the office with a metallic belt & watercolor print blouse.

Higher price point pink jeans include the MICHAEL Michael Kors Guatemala skinny pants ($89.50) from Dillards, which fulfill any bubblegum pink needs that your wardrobe may have. The feminine color is perfect for neutral accessories like round toe pumps, a taupe jacket, or leather-accented top. Next, you can find the J Brand Jeans neon skinny jeans ($112.20) @Bloomingdale’s & the slim cigarette destroyed jeans ($198.00) @7 For All Mankind. If you prefer to spend more money on a well-known brand, consider your cost per wear & break down how much you’re investing into these 80s throwback bottoms.

How much would you spend on colored jeans? Which color is your favorite? Would you wear pink, or do you prefer the other neon trends? For more posts on affordable fashion options, check out winter-ready LWDs inspired by Taylor Swift & Emma Stone, luxury look-alike Stella McCartney floral pants worn by Dian Kruger, my latest shoe purchases from Target for under $10, & stylish stud earrings from Forever 21. Natalie Portman in Dior Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara

The celebrity ad campaigns continue on with Oscar-winning actress Natalie Portman who returns to Dior for their newest Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara ($29.00), which is available @Sephora. Not only does Natalie look absolutely stunning, but I’m nearly convinced that I should drop my Maybelline mascara for this new Dior product which contains formula-strengthening ingredients like plant nectar and abyssinv oil.

Take a look at the short video clip below which reveals a behind-the-scenes look at the ad’s photo shoot. You can see the ad currently running in March issues of the best fashion & beauty magazines. Watch This Style: Beyoncé’s Halftime Show At The Super Bowl, Featuring A Destiny’s Child Comeback!

Super Bowl Halftime Show

Beyoncé put on an… electrifying performance, to say the least, at last night’s Super Bowl halftime show, with surprise guests, her former Destiny’s Child bandmates Kelly Rowland & Michelle Williams. I had a feeling that something spectacular was going to happen & now we can relive all the leather-clad glamour in the video below. Beyoncé’s costume included an outfit by Rubin Singer & booties by Proenza Schouler.

Luxury Look-Alikes For Less: Diane Kruger’s Floral Print Stella McCartney Pants Vs. Under $25 Forever 21 Picks!

While searching around the web for some blog-spiration, I was reminded of my post back in December about the super cute floral pants from H&M & how I styled them in Fabulous In 4 Ways. Then I saw a look posted on InStyle of Diane Kruger‘s recent appearance in Berlin for the premiere of her French film, Un plan parfait. She looked nothing short of chic & feminine in this vest & floral pants, both by Stella McCartney. I decided to find out how much they were since I’d been seeing the floral pant trend, especially in black & white, so popular for mainstream shopper son a budget. I soon discovered that they retailed on the official Stella McCartney website for $925.00, made with 100% silk.

It didn’t take me long to see that I just had to feature these amazing pants in some way, but I knew that as a budget shopper, I had to turn it around, which is when I headed over to Forever 21 & found the floral print pants ($22.80), available in sizes X-Small – Large, as well as the rose pattern trousers ($24.80), available in sizes 12-20. You can certainly get a lot of use out of these pants, no matter how much you pay, considering that they’re perfect for a blazer & bright blouse, feminine with a peplum top & peep toe pumps, or even great for a day with a turtleneck & ballet flats.

How would you wear these pants? Do you like the floral pant trend? Would you prefer a colorful print over the black & white? To shop Stella McCartney designs, you can find the luxury brand sold at Net-A-Porter, ShopBop, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, ASOS, DSW, Saks Fifth Avenue, & Harrods.

For more affordable fashion posts, check out my new shoes from Target for under $10 each, a first look at Lauren Conrad’s latest spring collection for Kohl’s, yellow dresses & pieces inspired by Taylor Swift & Anna Kendrick, & how to wear winter white dresses like Nicole Richie & Kerry Washington! Splurge or Save… On A Neon Blouse!

In previous Splurge or Save? posts, I’ve featured plenty of classic & trendy items, including polka dot pants, red suede ankle booties, spiked bracelets, burgundy blouses, polka dot tights, & leopard print flats. I would totally rock any of these items, but I’m super excited to share this latest post on neon blouses! Of course the neon hues in yellow / green are a nod to the 1980s & it’s everywhere! Neon is a little tricky to pull off, but it’s not impossible & when you wear a classic button-down blouse like those pictured below, consider pairing it with dark denim jeans, a black pencil skirt, or crisp white skinny pants.

I’d like to start with the most expensive blouse, which is the Splendid neon double pocket henley ($108.00) from Bloomingdale’s. It has a more relaxed feel, but can be dressed up with a brocade skirt, something sequined, or leather leggings. Next is the Patterson J. Kincaid Nova high-low blouse ($82.00) from Neiman Marcus which offers a more feminine take on a neon blouse in a soft, luxurious chiffon, perfect for mixing textures with other edgier pieces. Moving down the price points, the Portofino shirt ($49.90) from Express is a functional blouse to wear under a cardigan, with a pair of satin shorts, or match with navy or charcoal separates.

For the budget-conscious shopper, I selected the Apt. 9 drop-tail hem crepe blouse ($25.20) from Kohl’s, which has been marked down from its original $36.00 price. If worn at least three times in one month, this top comes to less than $9.00 per wear. I know I’ve been sharing a lot from Target lately, but I’ve had the Mossimo long sleeve blouse ($22.99) on my mind, which I’ve seen in stores & have considered for my own wardrobe. I think it would look very modern, yet casual with a leather jacket & cotton camisole, worn over skinny pants for a night out with the girls or a dessert date with your beau. Lastly, the most affordable of all is Forever 21‘s chiffon pocket blouse ($12.80) & it really a steal. For an unexpected twist, you can match this with a bold teal, bright tangerine, or try something softer like a contrast with cream.

Do you like to wear neon? Is this color too scary for you? How would you style these blouses? Which is your favorite color this season? Inside A Style Blogger’s Closet: My New Any-Season Heels & Flats For Under $10 From Target!

I returned to work this week after a very eventful winter break & was happy to start wearing my newest bargain-priced purchases & even though I’ve been saving my pennies as a responsible adult, I still couldn’t help picking up a few must-have tops, skirts, dresses, & accessories. Among those recent wardrobe upgrades are two very “me” pairs of shoes that I was able to snag @Target. Hardly a week goes by where I’m not visiting the store & scouring through the clearance racks & when I had a $5 off on any $20 Mossimo brand purchase coupon, I knew it was going to burn a whole in my iPhone’s Target app!

Target - Mossimo Viveca Blingy Heel $28.04 in Emerald, Mossimo Ona Ballet Flat $14.99 in zebra.

After searching through the clothing racks & finding a cute orange & gold sequin sweater, as well as a grey crochet & neon encil skirt (both perfect for work!), I wandered over to the accessories & shoes to see if I could score anything else… & of course, I did! This included the Viveca blingy heel ($28.04) in emerald, which I was able to purchase for less than $10.00, as well as the Ona ballet flat ($14.99) in zebra, which was marked down on clearance for under $5.00. Of course the online prices are different from what’s going on in my local store, but these are can’t-miss end-of-the-season deals! My favorite color is green & I love any & everything zebra print, so this was a match made in shoe heaven!

Tomorrow is the big day for Beyoncé & that could only mean that after her rumored lip synching faux pas during the 2013 Presidential Inauguration, she’s going to kill it at the Super Bowl. She’s already been making appearance to promote the performance & I’ve featured her sexy leather mini dress look with Jimmy Choo pumps, as well as her orange sheath dress by Antonio Berardo.

However, Beyoncé isn’t the only one hitting today’s Top 10 Celeb Sightings post… I’m happy to feature favorites like Amy Adams in a sweet polka dot peplum dress by Jenny Packham, Jennifer Lopez in an all-red jumpsuit look by Vivienne Westwood, & Kate Mara‘s metallic silver overlay dress by Dolce & Gabbana.

Also, I couldn’t forget about Cate Blanchett‘s stunning Armani Prive gown, Catherine Zeta-Jones in a lace-printed Michael Kors gown, Emmy Rossum‘s uber-adorable zebra & leather street style, Jaime King‘s head-to-toe Rachel Zoe Collection navy junpsuit, & Teresa Palmer‘s lace-detailed dress by Talbot Runhof with jewelry by Dana Rebecca Designs & satin Brian Atwood pumps.

Color Me Style: Winter White Dresses Inspired By Rooney Mara, Nicole Richie, & Runway Looks Of Michael Kors, Rachel Zoe, & More!

Winter white is a big trend right now, especially when it comes to LWD (little white dresses). I’m a big fan of dresses- no surprise there- but I’ve yet to find a winter white dress that works for me. Whatever I have is definitely too summer-friendly in eyelet, cotton, or linen, however I’ve been very inspired by what’s happening on the latest runways when it comes to feminine white looks, featuring dresses of skirt outfits.

For example, take a look at the chic cocktail & casual white dresses, which were shown for seasons other than winter, but are certainly inspiring fashionistas everywhere. These looks include Rachel Zoe Spring 2013 Collection‘s shimmering shift dress, J. Mendel Pre-Fall 2013 Collection‘s old Hollywood sweetheart dress, Michael Kors Spring-Summer 2013 Collection‘s button-down shirt-dress, a slitted peplum dress by Marios Schwab Spring Ready-To-Wear 2013 Collection, the strapless bow-bedecked dress from Christopher Kane‘s Spring Ready-To-Wear 2013 Collection, Erin Fetherston Pre-Fall 2013 Collection‘s sheer lace mini dress, & Hervé Léger by Max Azria Pre-Fall 2013 Collection‘s belted body-conscious frock.

In addition, some of the most photographed stars have been hitting the red carpet in the last month while wear white dresses. Side Effects actress Rooney Mara hit the premiere of her latest film in this flower-embellished dress by Alexander McQueen, which she paired with neutral patent leather Nicholas Kirkwood peep toe pumps. This month’s Self magazine cover girlEmmy Rossum, took a break from promoting her new album, Sentimental Journey, in Santa Monica in this pleated Andrew Gn dress with sparkling pumps. Everywhere it-girl Kerry Washington attended an after-party for Django Unchained in a white lace Dolce & Gabbana shift dress with pointy toe Christian Louboutin stilettos.

Rooney Mara, Emmy Rossum, Kerry Washington, Taylor Swift, Emma Stone, & Nicole Richie.

Award-winning singer-songwriter, Taylor Swift, hit the blue carpet for the  40 Principales Awards in this plunging Kaufmanfranco three-quarter sleeve design with mixed-fabric sandals by Christian Louboutin & geometric drop earrings. Everyone’s favorite girl-next-door & Gangster Squad star, Emma Stone, helped announce this year’s Oscar nominees in a belted 50s-inspired dress by Andrew Gn with black patent leather pumps. Lastly, the always polished Nicole Richie stepped out for a party in Los Angeles in this white zip-up m ini dress with embellished leather accessories by Salvatore Ferragamo.

For the budget-conscious Style Darling, I wanted to find pieces that are perfect for wear now in the winter, given some mixing & matching of accessories, as well as dresses that’ll work for the upcoming spring season, although that seems to be getting further away from us on this Groundhog’s Day.  The first is the sheer sleeve lace dress ($24.80) from Forever 21, which would be perfect with black opaque tights or neon pops of color in a belt or pointy toe heels. Next, for a curve-hugging dress, I found the long & lean dress ($19.00) from Venus, which will also pair nicely over leather leggings & under a plaid button-down. While white is sometime bridal-looking, it can also be worn to work, like with this sleeveless ecru ponte sheath dress ($39.99) from White House Black Market.  I’d recommend wearing it with a red blazer & loafer-detailed pumps.

white dresses & accessories

I found this simply sweet & feminine shirt dress ($29.95) from H&M, & it’s the perfect foundation for a metallic braided belt, patent leather accessories, or classic lace & pearl details.  Lastly, for my plus-size readers, I was so happy to find this modern Alyx belted twist neckline dress ($40.00) from JC Penney, which is available in sizes 14W-24W.

White is such a stunning & pure color for a dress, but I was successful in searching for white accessories that will make any all-white, monochromatic, or trendy printed look stand out for every occasion. There’s never any reason why you shouldn’t have a pair of white shoes on hand, which is why I’m suggesting the pointed silver toe pumps ($32.50) from Charlotte RusseC Label Divine flats ($19.99) from 6PM, & the Wentzell pumps ($44.98) from ALDO shoes. Also, I’ve selected the patent skinny belt ($29.50) from Banana Republic, bejeweled bib necklace ($12.80) from Forever 21, & the Jennifer Lopez gold tone disc drop earrings ($12.00) form Kohl’s.
