With photographs by legendary photographer Patrick Demarchelier, Beyoncé can be seen in looks by Givenchy for the cover, as well as Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquière, Oscar de la Renta, Alexander McQueen, & Haider Ackermann. She talks to the magazine about motherhood, her upcoming music projects, & about heading on tour.
There’s no doubt that last night’s Grammyswere all about powerhouse performances, & Justin Timberlake was one of the most buzzed-about acts, especially since his latest album, The 20/20 Experience, is hitting shelves next month. The Tom Ford-clad talent hit the stage with Jay-Z for “Suit & Tie,” while both wives (Jessica Bielin Oscar de la Renta & Beyoncé Knowles in Osman, respectively) watched & smiled. If you missed Justin’s retro-style performance, or loved it & wanted to watch it again, check out the video below & share it with you friends!
Looking outside my window, I see hip-high layers of snow slowly melting down & all I can think about it spring. I love dresses, light layers, & pops of color. While New York Fashion Week is currently underway, we can catch a glimpse of the best spring styles in the latest magazines hitting newsstands this month. In the mean time, for the res of us here in the Northeast, I’d like to jump on the spring bandwagon with the latest ads for Versace‘s Spring / Summer 2013 Collection. The sultry & sexy desert beach-themed ads features models Daria Werbowy & Joan Smalls, clutched by the arms of some very well-oiled scantily clad men. Of course, the lovely ladies are adorned with Versace’s metallic-heavy accessories with coin necklaces, studded bags, & knee-high gladiator sandals.
In the video below, we can get a behind-the-scenes look at the shoot, including quick shots of Donatella Versace at work. What are your favorite spring trends? Are you shopping the newest arrivals yet? Which are your favorite pieces from the brand?
The celebrity ad campaigns continue on with Oscar-winning actress Natalie Portmanwho returns to Diorfor their newest Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara ($29.00), which is available @Sephora. Not only does Natalie look absolutely stunning, but I’m nearly convinced that I should drop my Maybelline mascara for this new Dior product which contains formula-strengthening ingredients like plant nectar and abyssinv oil.
In a recent post in Cover Craze, I shared the March 2013 cover of InStyle, featuring the leading ladies of Oz: The Great & Powerful: Michelle Williams, Rachel Weisz, & Mila Kunis. However, I received the issue in the mail today & was super excited to see the shoot & then I learned that there was a coordinating video, including a behind-the-scenes look & interview with the fabulous stars, where they discuss their favorite red carpet looks, remaining ladylike in the face of stunts, & how they were case in the film.
For those of you who love the black & white noir angle of films like Sin City or Sucker Punch, then you’ll love the director’s cut for Gucci‘s latest men’s & women’s fragrance, Guilty Black. The sexy & dramatic commercial stars previous Gucci models, The Ides of March actress Evan Rachel Wood & the big screen’s Captain America, Chris Evans. Prices for the fragrance range between $80 – $90, with notes of pink pepper, coriander, patchouli, & orange flower.
Keira Knightleyrecently sat down with Marie Claireas the face of their March 2013 issue & the Oscar-nominated actress discusses her style icons, including the timelessly androgynous Katharine Hepburn, as well as fashionable literary figures like Leo Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina, who she recent played on the big screen opposite Jude Law. In addition, the oft-potty mouth Brit, shared her favorite wardrobe must-haves, as well as her anticipation for romantic & feminine spring trends. In addition, the actress is currently filming opposite Star Trek star Chris Pine in Jack Ryan, inspired by the Tom Clancy novels. Also, she’s recently wrapped Can A Song Save Your Life? with Mark Ruffalo, Hailee Steinfeld, & Adam Levine.
Beyoncé put on an… electrifying performance, to say the least, at last night’s Super Bowl halftime show, with surprise guests, her former Destiny’s Child bandmates Kelly Rowland & Michelle Williams. I had a feeling that something spectacular was going to happen & now we can relive all the leather-clad glamour in the video below. Beyoncé’s costume included an outfit by Rubin Singer & booties by Proenza Schouler.
Beyoncé is at it again! Not only is she this weekend’s Super Bowl halftime act & hitting the small screen for an upcoming documentary on HBO, but she’s recently shot an ad for her latest fragrance, Pulse NYC, inspired by her new hometown with a Gotham City-inspired bottle. The multi-talented singer has focused this scent on a woman who is “impossible to ignore, exuding sensuality & strength.” ELLE‘s Joe Zee styled the shoot, sharing metallic wardrobe pieces that resembling the mirrored buildings of the New York City.
Rihanna is a chameleon on the red carpet & has some of the trendiest street style of any celebrity today. Her above looks are always unexpected, whether she’s headed to a formal event in Lanvin or Marchesa, but what’s even more fabulous is that she upgrades her daytime style in chic pieces from Stella McCartney.
With her ever-changing hairstyles & turns from ladylike to rock chic to 80s throwback, she’s lending her stylish voice to her debut collection for River Island, a U.K. brand which is inspired by “British High Street.” Check out the video below to hear the Grammy nominee has developed the collection, which debuts February 16th during London Fashion Week!
While I was doing online research for Emmy Rossum‘s Self magazine shoot, I was intrusted to learn more about her music career & the debut of her American standards cover album, Sentimental Journey. Once I came across these vignettes from the album of “Nobody Knows You (When You’re Down & Out)” & “These Foolish Things (Remind Me Of You),” I instantly fell in love with Emmy’s sound & The Artist-inspired look in both videos. I’m considering the slinky & luxe look of slipdresses, decadent chandelier earrings, feathered trims, & t-strap heels.
Not only is Emmy’s voice pitch perfect, but she solidifies her stunning talent with what I’d like to call her most artistically significant work to date. Of course, she can also be seen in the upcoming film, Beautiful Creatures, & Showtime’s Shameless, but these are must-see videos! Happy Styling!
Emmy Rossum isn’t just a pretty face, but the talented Shameless actress already has a Golden Globe nomination under her belt for her performance in 2004’s Phantom of the Opera. In addition, the trained singer is currently promoting her debut record, Sentimental Journey, featuring covers of oldies from the 1920s-1960s. As the latest cover girls for Selfmagazine, the multi-faceted New York native talks about her music project, which hits stores on January 29th, as well as her tricks to staying fit & healthy.
During the shoot, Emmy frolics outdoors on inflatable furniture in bright & flirty frocks that we’d love to be wearing right now at the end of this cold January. Designers for the shoot include Ralph Lauren Black Collection, Jill Stuart, Milly, Kate Spade, & accessories by Courtney Lee Collection. You can also see Emmy in her latest big screen role as a witch named Ridley in Beautiful Creatures opposite Emma Thompson, Viola Davis, & Jeremy Irons.
I remember the day when you’d have to wait months for the next season of Project Runway, but it was only last week when the 2nd season of Project Runway All Starscrowned Anthony Ryan Auld as its winner & now the real competition with newcomers begins tonight with Season 11. The twist is that the designers will be working in teams for every challenge, which has drama & disaster written all over it! Judge Michael Korsis out & Zac Posenis filling in Kors’ black-blazer-wearing seat! You can count on more LOL moments from judges Heidi Klum& Nina Garcia‘s critiques, & also worry right alongside mentor, Tim Gunn.
After so many posts today, I almost wasn’t going to feature this video promo of the new season & tonight’s premiere episode, but then I watched it! We’ll be seeing Season 4 winner, Christian Siriano, as tonight’s guest judge & throughout the season, we’ll get to hear from Kristin Davis, Susan Sarandon, Miranda Lambert, & Emmy Rossum, to name a few.
Along with the latest for that I’ve posted for Allure, InStyle, Self, Vogue, & Elle, Marie Claireis sharing the latest & greatest in fashion with former supermodel Heidi Klum on its February 2013 cover. The 37-year-old has proven time & time again that she’s an unstoppable force who always puts her kids first & discusses with the magazine how she never backs down from a challenge, craves Big Macs with fries, & even spills some of the latest secrets from the upcoming season of Project Runway.
I’ve been a subscriber to Alluremagazine for a long time now & even though I don’t consider myself a beauty guru, I’ve learned a lot about makeup tricks, how to take care of your skin, & ways to improve your beauty regiment on a budget from the pages within. Just a few days ago I received the February 2013 issue of Allure with my favorite country-singing Style Darling on the cover, Carrie Underwood. I love that she’s always a lady & never tries to look like anything she’s not. In the pages of the magazine, she talks about how her look has evolved during her career, her self-confidence, & how she keeps up with a busy touring schedule.
It’s been almost a week since the season finale of Project Runway All Stars, where Season 9 designer & fan favorite, Anthony Ryan Auld, was crowned the winner, ahead of Uli Herzner& Emilio Sosa. Even though Uli was my personal favorite, I was very happy to see Anthony Ryan receive the accolade that he deserves. Courtesy of My Lifetime, I’m sharing a gallery of the final runway, featuring Anthony Ryan’s “Fine Line” looks first, followed by Emilio’s “Urban Plantation,” & lastly with Uli’s “Winter Wonderland.” This was one of the most exciting episodes of the season & I loved watching judges model Carolyn Murphy, Marchesa co-founder & designer Georgina Chapman, & American icon Isaac Mizrahi, sit with guest judges actress Liv Tyler & Missoni heir, Margherita Missoni.
Shoe-gasm alert! Yes, I said it! When I saw the latest arrivals from Christian Siriano for Payless, I nearly died from joy… shoe-joy to be specific & I knew, without a doubt, that these just had to be included in my next Show Me The Shoespost! The Project Runway winner continues to share his talents & stylish shoe designs with the mainstream public after a number of successful collections for Payless- my favorite spot to find affordable & comfortable shoes that will only out a smile on my face!
Even though we’re still in the thick of winter, clad with textured boots & leather footwear, getting to see what’s coming for spring is refreshing & exciting, especially since Siriano has selected a soft & feminine color palette, recreating the way we consider neutral shoes. The classic nude patent texture is replaced with a pearlescent shine & a light polka dot pattern can certainly work with stripes, florals, & anything else you can think of. Also, I’m crazy for mint, especially when paired with metallic accents, sure to work with any wrap dress, cotton frock, or mini skirt look as we patiently wait for spring to begin.
The Polina bow flat ($42.99) in champagne or taupe are a playful nod to the New York ballet scene, perfect for pairing with a sheath dress & cardigan for the office, boyfriend jeans & a white blazer for a day out & about, or your favorite colored jeans & a blouse when grabbing a bite to eat with the girls. The Cynthia sling ($54.99) in taupe or champagne are a sexy way to play up any bombshell look, especially if wearing something with lace details, structure with a belt, or to elongate the legline in skinny pants.
The Julie Mary Jane heel ($54.99) in champagne & mint are by far my favorite, especially the mint pair, which pay homage to old Hollywood screen sirens like Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly, or Elizabeth Taylor. The vintage-inspired shape also bares resemblance to dancing shoes, so you can get the party started in these while wearing your favorite LBD, a-line dress, or sequined top & feathered mini skirt.
Perhaps the most daring of the collection includes the Natalia wedge sandal ($54.99), which is a flirty blend of resort-chic if matched with a maxidress to walk the boardwalk, or to add a mod splash to a printed, sleeveless shift dress.
In addition, this collection is an extension from Siriano’s ballet-themed Spring-Summer 2013 Collection, which I featured in Runway Rundownback in September. Check out the video below to see the collection in motion on the runway, & hear about his inspiration for the light & ethereal colors which are reinventing the way we style with neutral shoes!
Claire Danes is not only dominating television with her hit show Homeland, but the new mom & recent Golden Globe winner is the cover girl for ELLE‘s February 2013 issue. At the time of the shoot, The actress was almost at full term during her pregnancy, but you’d never know it by the looks of strategic & fashionable shots taken by Carter Smith & styled by Joe Zee.
The shoot includes looks from designers Tom Ford, Cartier, Chloé, Narciso Rodriguez, Gianvito Rossi, Bvlgari, & many more! Not to mention that Claire talks about her evolution as an actress, having started out on the hit show, My So-Called Life, & graduated to the Showtime smash which just wrapped its second season. Also, her sense of humor comes through when talking about her love of Mr. Rogers, Punky Brewster, & other such shows as a young aspiring actress.
It won’t be long until we see Rooney Mara back on-screen with her The Girl with the Dragon Tattooco-star Daniel Craig in the film’s sequel, The Girl who Played with Fire; however, last year’s Oscar nominee is featured on the cover of Vogue‘s February 2013 issue. The minimalist beauty is promoting her latest film, Side Effects, opposite Channing Tatum, as well as discussing her upcoming gig as co-host to this year’s Met Costume Institute Gala which is themed, “PUNK: Chaos to Couture,” with friend & designer Riccardo Tisci of Givenchy fame.
The magazine’s shoot includes looks from Helmut Lang & Calvin Klein Collection, just to name a few, showing that the natural beauty may be afraid of red carpets & throngs of screaming fans, but always looks effortless as we witness the success of her blossoming career. Play the video below to get a behind-the-scenes look at the shoot!
I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again… I love any & everything that Rachel Zoedoes! The amazing celebrity stylist & designer has joined forces with ShoeDazzleas their newest chief stylist, offering advice to shoppers who are looking for affordable glamour. While I know I can’t make the financial investment in a pair of Rachel Zoe Collection shoes, I can absolutely support this collaboration since it’s all in the name of shoes!
Check out the website for Rachel’s picks, some of which I’ve included above. The Madelaine pumps ($39.95) are floral wonders, perfect for mixing your winter separates as the season changes. Next, to go along with the cap toe trend, the Dana pumps ($43.95) are perfect for coordinating your neutrals with other pops of color. For those of you looking for comfort, the Maude wedges ($39.95) are sophisticated & luxe with a velvety texture & contrasting wooden heel. Lastly, the Alejandra booties ($44.95) are modern, feminine, & chic if worn with edgy pieces like leather leggings, a motorcycle jacket, or cut-out LBD.
So we’ve seen what the stars wore on the red carpet for this year’s Golden Globes, but it was at InStylemagazine’s after-party where the stars shared an exclusive peek at their shoes, including brands like Roger Vivier, Jimmy Choo, Casadei, Charlotte Olympia, Brian Atwood, & plenty more. The video includes interviews with nominees Sofia Vergara& Julia Louis-Dreyfus, celebrity stylish / designer Rachel Zoe, tween powerhouse Selena Gomez, the multi-talented Julianne Hough, Twilight actress Nikki Reed, British import Thandie Newton, Sucker Punch star Jena Malone, former One Tree Hill regular Sophia Bush, a neon-clad Michelle Monaghan, blonde beauty Malin Akerman, Smash sensation Megan Hilty, & Homeland star Morena Baccarin.
One of the exciting stories from the headlines this week is that 2000’s R&B group, Destiny’s Child, is reuniting for a new single & greatest hits compilation. Even when reading the details behind the long-awaited return of the soulful trio, “Say My Name” started looping in my head. The group had so many great songs & hits, but it was always their coordinated chic on-stage & red carpet looks that made me wanna watch their every move. Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, & Michelle Williams were a force to be reckoned with, thanks to their stylist, Beyoncé’s mom, Tina Knowles.
Well, 2013 is shaping up to be one editorially-amazing year since we’ve seen so much from the January & February covers of magazines. My favorite magazine of all, the one that I set time aside for to look through, is InStyle, which is currently celebrating the accomplishments of actress / entrepreneur / author Jessica Alba, who’s founded an eco-friendly children’s company, Honest Company, as well as published her first book, The Honest Life, which teaches readers how to fill their home with eco-friendly & safe products.
During her shoot for the magazine’s cover, she took some time to talk about life as a mother of two, lending her voice for the first time to an animated flick, & her guilty pleasures. Check out the video to see the smoldering looks from the shoot, including designs by Fendi, Marni, Derek Lam, Gucci, Christian Dior, & lots more!
