Watch This Style: Calvin Klein’s Newest Fragrance Short Film For Encounter Starring Alexander Skarsgård!

I’m always writing about women’s fashion & what’s going on with the fairer sex, but for those of you who can’t get enough of the tall & brooding male type, buckle up for some men’s fashion talk. Well, in this case, it’s men’s fragrance chat… More specifically, Calvin Klein‘s latest fragrance Encounter ($58.00 – $72.00)for men has been turned into a short film, starring True Blood hunk Alexander Skarsgård, opposite model Lara Stone. Under the direction of Fabien Baron, there’s something very Fifty Shades of Grey & James Bond about this just-over two-minute video. Take a look & share your comments. Do you think fragrance commercials are getting too overproduced? Would you like to see more videos like this? Which fragrances are you most attracted to?

For more scents on Style Darling, check out posts in Watch This Style, including Crystal Renn for Reem Acra, Beyonce’s latest fragrance, Heat, & Blake Lively as the face of Gucci Premiere. Be sure to check out videos featuring Sarah Jessica Parker on Glee, Lana Del Rey singing “Blue Velvet” for H&M’s latest ad campaign, & Lindsay Lohan starring as Elizabeth Taylor in Liz & Dick. Happy Styling!

Watch This Style: What’s More Exciting Than Sarah Jessica Parker, Fashion, & Glee??

Glee is doing all the right things this season so far, only after 2 episodes & tomorrow night’s episode just got a little juicier with these 2 clips! However, the first video is the better of the pair, especially since it includes the iconic & incomparable Sarah Jessica Parker as fictional fashion designer Isabelle Wright who will be Kurt’s New York City mentor.  I know the show already did a Madonna episode, but why do I have the feeling that a number as glamorous as “Material Girl” is right around the corner.  Also, I’m crazy for Kurt’s fashion sense & how his character is turning another fashionable chapter.

Secondly, we’ve seen Brittany’s downward spiral hopefully at its worst, & here’s a sneak peek at her version of Hole’s “Celebrity Skin.” I always love it when the show reinvents songs, like Lea Michele singing “Oops I Did It Again,” but breaking out late 90s songs brings me back to my teenaged years of wearing neon pleather pants, or days straight of nothing but black (in a very Posh Spice kind of way).

What do you think of the videos? Are you excited about SJP’s return to television? What’s your favorite storyline this season on Glee? Which songs are you dying to see the cast reimagine? Happy Styling!

Watch This Style: Lea Michele Sing’s Britney’s “Oops I Did It Again” For Kate Hudson On Glee!

Even if you’re not a Gleek, you still need to check this out! Britney Spears has been making headlines as the latest new addition to X-Factor, but Glee is helping bring Brit-Brits music back to life, especially with Lea Michele‘s super sexy performance of “Oops I Did It Again,” which in my opinion is nothing compared to the original red pleather get-up that Britney wore in the song’s music video.

Check out this video, while Lea’s character, Rachel Berry, is trying to prove to her dance teacher, played by the smoldering Kate Hudson, that although she’s in her first year of college, she can still stand up on stage as a temptress.  Check out the video & share your thoughts! Did you watch the Britney 2.o episode? Do you want to see Lea Michele more? Which is your favorite character? Happy Styling!

Watch This Style: The Trailer For Lifetime’s “Liz & Dick” Starring Lindsay Lohan As Elizabeth Taylor!

The world keeps giving Lindsay Lohan another chance, even though her reckless behavior & poor attempts at a comeback keep making headlines, but here’s something to chew on. We all heard that the Lifetime network cast the Long Island native in Liz & Dick, where Lindsay plays the late & great Elizabeth Taylor, opposite Grant Bowler (previously seen in Ugly Betty as Vanessa Williams’ character’s boyfriend, Connor) as twice-divorced husband, Richard Burton. Well, by the looks of the trailer for the TV movie, Lindsay can certainly pull off the black wig, overdone eye makeup, & vintage clothing, but we’ll have to see an actual scene before we can judge her in the role. Of course, we’ll have to wait until November, but here’s a taste of the long-awaited portrayal.

A month ago, I shared images of Lana Del Rey‘s latest venture, her ad campaign for H&M, featuring vintage-inspired looks & a gorgeous pink angora sweater! Now, the music video for the campaign has hit the web & Style Darling is excited to share the full-length version of her cover of “Blue Velvet.” Check out H&M for store locations & to price the items featured in the video. Runway Rundown: Your Spoiler Alert Sneak Peek At Project Runway’s Season 10 Finale Collections!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I only got around to watching last Thursday’s episode of Project Runway last night & also just happened to come across a the All Project Runway blog on Blogspot, which shared the collections from the remaining 8 designers of the show who were still in the aired episodes, so as not to give anything away about who would be the final designers really showing at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.  We saw Gunnar go home on Thursday after an unfortunate construction of his hands & bird print for the HP Challenge, but luckily, we’re able to see his designs one more time hitting the runway.

The gallery includes looks from Christopher Palu, Dmitry Sholokhov, Elena Slivnyak, Fabio Costa, Gunnar Deatherage, Melissa Fleis, Sonjia Williams, & Ven Budhu. Who do you think will make it to the top 3? Which past designers would you like to see back on the show? Which has been your favorite challenge? Happy Styling!

Ad Madness / Watch This Style: Scarlett Johansson’s Latest For Dolce & Gabbana Cosmetics!

When you look like Tony-winner Scarlett Johansson, I guess you don’t need much to look like a gorgeous model. For Dolce & Gabbana‘s latest campaign, the actress is lending her sensual pout & old Hollywood beauty to the brand’s cosmetics line, promoting the Perfect Luminous Liquid Foundation ($59.00) available @Saks Fifth Avenue.

Check out the video (commercial, maybe?) for the newest make up product, featuring beautiful shots of Italy & a snuggling Scarlett wrapped in sheets.  What do you think of cosmetic ad campaigns? Do you think this is too much? What do you think of Scarlett returning as a spokesmodel for the brand?

Watch This Style / Ad Madness: La Vie Est Belle For Lancome & Julia Roberts!

While sifting through the knee-high pile of the September issues of my favorite magazines, I noticed that several (Self, Cosmopolitan, & Allure) have the ads for Lancome‘s latest fragrance La Vie Est Belle featuring Julia Roberts‘ infamous smile on their back covers.  The Oscar winner’s Mirror Mirror director, Tarsem Singh has, from behind the camera, brought out the best in Julia in a short film to go along with the stunning ad campaign.  Luckily, I was able to find the video on YouTube, along with a making-of video, which includes a brunette-tressed Julia in an elegant white gown breaking free from conventions & embracing a beautiful life, all with the help of the perfume.  Having graduated from the previously popular Tresor fragrance, La Vie Est Belle is set to hit stores in mid-August.

What do you think of Julia Roberts as a spokeswomen for Lancome? Do you like the videos? Would you try this scent? For more celebrity campaigns, check out posts from Ad Madness, including Lana Del Rey for H&M, Lily Collins for Movado, & Kate Hudson for Ann Taylor.  In addition, Watch This Style videos include stylist Brad Goreski talking to Nightline, a behind-the-scenes look at Victoria Beckham as guest editor for the September issue of Glamour, & my top 5 most stylish music videos from the Spice Girls. Watch This Style: Video Of Brad Goreski & The Styling Industry with Nightline!

If you’re addicted to fashion & can’t stop talking about styling (just like me), not only are you a Style Darling, but you will LOVE the next (almost) six minutes of this video taken from a segment on ABC’s Nightline, which discusses the work of stylist Brad Goreski, as well as how stars like Jessica Alba, Lady Gaga, & Mila Kunis have become fashion icons during their red carpet appearances. In addition, the video talks about the empire that Brad’s former boss, Rachel Zoe, has built, not only as a stylist who charges upwards of $10,000/day, but as a designer for QVC & her high-end collection for Neiman Marcus. Who do you like better- Brad or Rachel? Do you watch It’s A Brad, Brad World & The Rachel Zoe Project?

Cover Craze: Victoria Beckham Is Glamour’s Sept Guest Editor!

Yes, this is my 2nd Spice Girls-related post in a day, however I’m writing about the always stunning Victoria Beckham who acted as guest editor for the September issue of Glamour.  I was so excited to flip through the pages & find out VB’s picks, style secrets, as well as read about her thoughts on what’s going on in fashion for the upcoming fall season.

Aside from the fabulous shots of the former singer wearing duds by Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Lanvin, Giuseppe Zanotti, & of course Victoria Beckham, I’m loving what she’s offered to readers, including hair ideas featuring Lily Collins, the best way to experiment with makeup, & how to wear brights for the upcoming season.  She’s had a very big hand in putting together the hefty 328-page issue alongside editor-in-chief Cindi Leive.

Also be sure to check out the video I scored below, featuring Victoria talking about her love of fashion, how she wants to empower women, & that at heart, she’s a real soccer mom.  What do you think of Glamour‘s choice in picking Victoria for the cover & to guest edit? Is she your favorite Spice Girl? What fall trends are you looking forward to? Happy Styling!

Watch This Style: Top 5 Most Stylish Music Videos From The Spice Girls!

I’m still thinking about the Spice Girls reunion for the closing ceremony of this summer’s Olympics in London & how happy it made me to see the original female fab five together on stage.  Although the performance, standing atop those cars, was a little lack lustre for audiences watching on the tele, I thought that the ladies, now in their mid-to-late 30s, looked better than ever.  However, I wouldn’t dream of wishing for them to reunite for a full-on album/tour since my favorite, Victoria Beckham, a.k.a. Posh Spice, has been doing so much these days as a full-time fashion designer. Every now & again I find myself glued to the tube watching the movie, Spice World, since every time, it feels like the gals have joined me in my room for a sleepover full of gossip & girly guilty pleasures.

Anyway, I thought I’d invite my readers to go back to the 90s with me & watch what I think are their top 5 most stylish music videos.  Of course, you have to take into context the decade in which these videos were made. Neon pleather, midriff tops, high-heeled sneakers, & other bubble gum pop trends were in full swing, thanks to Posh, Ginger, Scary, Baby, & Sporty.   I’ve included the videos for “Too Much (my favorite!!!), “Say You’ll Be There,” “2 Become 1,” “Who Do You Think You Are?,” & “Spice Up Your Life.” Of course I’m leaving out obvious favorites, including “Wannabe” & “Stop,” but we have only five to post here today. Also, I’m fond of “Goodbye,” although that signifies the end of a pop music era with the ladies who officially became a quartet just days before hitting the stage for a concert on Long Island in 1998.  Who is your favorite spice? What’s your favorite song? Do you want the girls to get back together? Happy Styling!

Watch This Style / Ad Madness: Lily Collin’s Is Movado’s Newest Face!

Mirror Mirror actress Lily Collins is making her next big mark with Movado as the newest face of the 130-year-old brand’s latest ad campaign, following in the footsteps of other up-and-coming names like Kerry Washington & Amanda Seyfried. The strong-browed daughter of musician Phil Collins shares with InStyle, “I have always been an admirer of Movado watches.” Watch the video below ingénue strike a pose wearing the sophisticated Cerena style. Happy Styling!

Cover Craze: Behind-The-Scenes With Lady Gaga For Vogue’s September 2012 Issue!

When it was announced that Lady Gaga was going to be the face of Vogue‘s September 2012 issue, only the most popular month for the legendary magazine, the fashion world was buzzing with what the pop icon would be wearing.  The singer has been in the news recently b/c she announced the title of her upcoming record, ARTPOP, as well as the fact that troubled actress Lindsay Lohan would be starring in the newest single’s music video.

Not only does Style Darling have a sneak peek of the highly anticipated magazine cover, which will hit stands on August 14th, but we have exclusive video to share with fans of the singer’s, as well as readers of the magazine, which includes some behind-the-scenes footage of the photo shoot! This comes courtesy of a post by Fashionologie! Enjoy the short video set to Lady Gaga’s song “Hair!”

Watch This Style: A First Look At The Fashions From The Final Season Of ‘Gossip Girl!’

I’m excited to share with readers these sneak peek images of the latest & final season of Gossip Girl, which is currently in production.  Not only has the show been in the news with buzz surrounding the fabulous fall fashions, but British style import Alexa Chung is reportedly making a cameo in an upcoming episode, possibly playing herself.

As for the images, courtesy of People Style Watch, it looks like the cliffhanger of a downward spiraling Serena Van Der Woodsen has been resolved since the beloved character, played by the one & only Blake Lively, looks fresh, fearless, & fashion-forward.  For more fabulous news on GG & the cast, check out previous posts which include Blake’s Gucci Premiere commercial, video of GG‘s “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend” featuring the cast, & a behind-the-scenes look at an episode from last season! Happy Styling!

Watch This Style: Mariah Carey’s Top 5 Most Stylish Music Videos!

Mariah Carey has been in the news a whole lot lately, now that the Grammy-winning singer is the newest judge to join American Idol, as well as releasing her latest single, “Triumphant,” from her forthcoming fourteenth studio album.  However, I thought I’d take a look back at some of my favorite videos by the New York native since she’s one of the biggest selling artists in my lifetime.

Not only do she & I share a love for Marilyn Monroe & Hello Kitty, but she’s constantly trying to show off her bombshell style, even though some attempts are very pageant-ish & don’t make the best dressed lists. When it comes to music, Mariah knows what works for her & I’d like to take a moment to celebrate her accomplishments via my favorite music videos (for their style & songs)! This list includes “We Belong Together,” “Don’t Forget About Us,” “I Still Believe,” “Heartbreaker,” & “Always Be My Baby.”

I’d also like to add that I picked “We Belong Together,” which is my all-time favorite Mariah song, also b/c I think that whoever was responsible for her hair & makeup really nailed her look with elegance & femininity.  The dewy pink lips, fluffy & old school lashes, & natural overall look really make the video one of the most memorable for me, which juxtapose (yes, I used that word) the scenes when she’s wearing lingerie, a tunic mini, & princess-like wedding gown. Happy Styling!

Watch This Style / Ad Madness: First Look At Gucci Premiere’s Commercial Starring Blake Lively!

Of course print ads of celebs starring in campaigns for fragrances are always juicy to look at, especially when we’re talking about Savages star Blake Lively, however almost one month ago, I informed readers of Blake’s collaboration modeling for Gucci Premiere. While I was browsing through the web just recently, I found a short sneak peek at the Gossip Girl actress in motion in a clip from the film that supports the scent.  Under the direction of Nicolas Winding Refn, this golden girl is clad in sequins overlooking the Los Angeles skyline, as well as in a flowing navy gown in the desert.  Take a look at the commercial below & share with readers what you think about this campaign.

Also, for more celebrity-endorsed fragrances, be sure to check out more from Watch This Style, including Liv Tyler for Givenchy’s Irresistible, Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel starring Keira Knightley, & Charlize Theron for Dior.

Watch This Style: No Doubt’s Comeback Single ‘Settle Down’ Video!

As much as I love what Gwen Stefani has been doing in terms of fashion, there’s still that teenaged part of me that loves to see her performing as front woman of No Doubt.  The group, which hasn’t turned out any music in a decade now, has released their first single, “Settle Down,” off of their upcoming record, Push and Shove, which is due out September 25th.  Surely the group will be making a lot of appearances to promote the album, but this video gives us a taste of Gwen’s classic punk / pop / rock style, with bleached locks, a ruby red pout (à la L’Oreal Paris), & funky duds.  In a recent article on In Style, I read that Gwen went to great lengths to put together the customer L.A.M.B. pants that she’s sporting in the video, made from vintage Indian mirrored belts & fabrics.  Take a look at the highly anticipated new video & share the link if you love it!

For more on Gwen & her music, check out a previous post featuring her Top 5 Most Stylish Music Videos! Happy Styling!

Silver Screen Style / Watch This Style: Get Swept Away by ‘Oz: The Great & Powerful!’

I was just about to call it quits on the blogging front today- until I saw this trailer! I’d been keeping up with all the latest news around casting & the production of Oz: The Great & Powerful on Movie Buzzers, especially when I heard that the lovely Michelle Williams was going to play Glinda! THe movie is a prequel to the classic Wizard of Oz, starring James Franco as Oz himself, the legendary wizard who started it all.  Also in two are Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, & Zach Braff.  There’s nothing more exciting to me than a fabulously colorful fantasy movie like this, that makes the kid inside all of us smile.

Okay, okay, I realize this isn’t entirely style-related, but when I watch this, even though the trailer shows very little of Michelle, I was reminded how beautiful she looks with long hair.  Let’s hope that more of her on-screen characters in the future don longer locks.  Check out the trailer for the movie which premieres March 8th 2013! Happy Styling!

Watch This Style / Runway Rundown: Valentino’s Haute Couture Fall 2012 / Winter 2013 Show!

I’ve been staying on top of all the latest runway shows, trying to add a little more high fashion splash to Style Darling & came across this enchanting video of the latest from Valentino.  The legendary brand’s Haute Couture Fall 2012 / Winter 2013 show is full of dramatic construction, gothic hues, flirty florals, lavish long sleeves, & glamorous gold sparkle, perfect as a platform for next season’s envious styles. I can already see the likes of red carpet veterans like Angelina Jolie, Cate Blanchett, & Meryl Streep donning these unforgettable designs.  You can shop for Valentino @Net-A-Porter, Far Fetch, Neiman Marcus, & Nordstrom!

Silver Screen Style / Watch This Style: Keira Knightley’s ‘Anna Karenina Trailer & Banana Republic-Inspired Collection!

It’s not a secret that Oscar-nominated actress Keira Knightley is fond of making period pieces, especially with director, Joe Wright (Atonement).  However, when the news came out that the British siren was going to star in a remake of Leo Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina, I was super excited since the novel is one of my favorites of all time.  I’ve been following the production of this film on Movie Buzzers, covering all the casting news & now, not only has the official trailer hit the web, but costume designer Jacqueline Durran has told WWD that she is creating a collection inspired by the film for Banana Republic.

What’s curious about this collaboration is that the classic Russian drama is set in the late 19th century, however the BR line will feature a ’50s feel with a historic twist on blouses, coats, furs, jewelry, & accessories, ranging in price from $29.50 to $250.00.  Durran describes her vision for the film & capsule collection as “a once in a lifetime experience. I was given the chance to apply my passion for period styles to a collection that translates to fashion today.” The line is set to debut in stores in October & audiences can revel in the fashionable film when it hits theaters November 2nd.

Watch This Style: Kylie & Kendall Jenner Share Closet Time With Oprah!

The 17 & 15 year-old sisters of the Kardashians, Kylie & Kendall Jenner, have recently spoken with the one & only, Oprah Winfrey, about their rise to fame as reality stars & models, epitomizing the all-American girls who can have it all.  In this barely two-minute clip, we get a glimpse of the teens’ closets, featuring platforms by none other than Christian Louboutin.

I wouldn’t normally post a video like this, but I think that these girls are on the rise, just like older sisters Kourtney, Kim, & Khloe, certainly bringing more attention to the brand that is the Kardashian family.  If you have a couple of minutes to spare, have a click & Happy Styling!

Watch This Style: Daria Werbowy & Betty Boop Campaign For Lancôme’s New Mascara!

When it comes to style, two cartoon characters always come to mind.  I have no shame in saying that I’m crazy for Hello Kitty- I mean, she’s almost always wearing a coordinating bow with her outfit! Who wouldn’t love that?? Also, Betty Boop is high up on my fabulous list & I was delighted to find that the legendary character is starring alongside Canadian model Daria Werbowy for Lancôme‘s new Hypnôse Star Mascara, which retails for about $26.00.  The beauties are batting their lashes in the ad, but you can watch this behind-the-scenes video, courtesy of FashionEtc, featuring interviews with the model in a glamorous black sequin dress.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted a video, so I was very happy to find this one, especially when I’m always looking to learn about the best finds to add to my cosmetic arsenal.  Happy Styling!

Watch This Style: The Top 5 Most Stylish Jennifer Lopez Music Videos!

Obviously, Jennifer Lopez has never looked better! I got inspired to write about her, not just because everywhere she goes, she looks AMAZING, but also b/c in the July 2012 issue of In Style, featuring Salma Hayek on the cover, Jennifer is featured in the magazine with her 10 best red carpet looks.  Well, it would be very hard for me to pick out 10 since she’s unstoppable, but when it comes to her music, I’m a bit of a fan for her earlier stuff- up until the “Bennifer” split, to be honest.  Her music videos ruled TRL (some of you may not remember it, so please Google Total Request Live, you might recognize The Voice‘s Carson Daly) & she was one of the first females to successfully make the jump from film to music to fashion, becoming her own walking, talking, strutting brand.  Gotta give her props for that.

Of course, I wanted to add “Ain’t It Funny,” “I’m Real,” “Love Don’t Cost A Thing,” & “If I Had Your Love,” but I did have to narrow down the music video selection to five.  I picked “I’m Glad,” for the obvious reference to Flashdance.  This is not only my favorite song by the Bronx native, but also my all-time favorite video of hers for the fashion & fierce dancing as well.  Also, I included “Play,” “Waiting For Tonight,” “Jenny From The Block,” & “Ain’t It Funny (Remix)” even though I’m not a big fan of Ja Rule’s.  I have to say that I do love the purple eye makeup that she’s sporting in the latter video. What’s your favorite Jennifer Lopez song/look/video? Happy Styling!

Red Carpet Review: Snow White & The Huntsman’s Charlize Theron Has A Very Stylish Spring!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

One of the biggest movies this summer is Snow White & The Huntsman, starring Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth, & Academy Award winner Charlize Theron.  The beautiful Charlize plays the Evil Queen, however the spokesmodel for Dior has been making waves this season with her red carpet appearances & casual street style caught by paparazzi.  I’ve put together a gallery, embracing the South African native’s impeccable style. Of course she’s been at it for years & is a pro donning designer duds. Which of these looks is your favorite?

Also, I’ve included the exciting trailer for Snow White & The Huntsman, which is in theaters now! Happy Styling!

Silver Screen Style / Watch This Style: New Movie Trailers for ‘The Great Gatsby’ & ‘Les Miserables!’

Classic literature has never looked so stylish, especially with the motion picture remakes of some of the most well-known stories.  This includes Les Miserables, starring Anne Hathaway, Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Eddie Redmayne, & Amanda Seyfried.  The adaptation from Victor Hugo’s novel & the quintessential Broadway play is set to hit theaters December 14th. Check out the trailer below for an emotional first trailer of the film, as well as this link to the latest coverage of the film on Movie Buzzers.

Also, for some real high-fashion glamour, director Baz Luhrmann is reinventing F. Scott Fitzgerald jazz-age tragedy, The Great Gatsby, in 3-D with a stellar cast which includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey MulliganTobey MaguireIsla Fisher, & Joel Edgerton.  I’ve been following the coverage of this film on Movie Buzzers, but I’ve been dying to share with my Style Darling readers a gimpse of this movie.  The trailer is a dramatic tease of glitz & glory.  Also, be sure to follow that least news on this film here.

For more movie-worthy style, click on over to Silver Screen Style! Of course I love posting videos of any & every style-related sort, which is why I’ve also added this post in my Watch This Style category! What movies are you most looking forward to this year? Which are your favorite stylish characters so far? Happy Styling!
