Show Me the Shoes: $8 Sandals Going Fast!

Right now is the best time to shop for summer’s trendiest & most stylish pieces, from tops to dresses & shorts to accessories. It seems like everything is on sale everywhere & fall is just around the retail corner. Additionally, I was in a local Walmart Superstore today with my family when I came across a can’t-miss deal on Time & Tru’s multi-band slide sandal marked down to $8.00 from $14.98!

I tried on a pair, although I didn’t end up buying the great deal. They are comfortable & definitely soft, but I’m, personally, not a fan of slides. However, I’d definitely recommend these to coordinate with a multitude of stylish summer looks, including a tee & pair of shorts, print Ed romper, headed to the beach with a sarong, maxi or midi dress, & button-down with cropped jeans.

When considering accessories for vacation, I keep it super minimal, especially since it’s a hot summer week & I’m vacationing with a toddler to toddler-friendly places. That’s not to say I can’t do it in style, but I bring 2 bags, a few neutral sandals, 1 hat, 1 pair of sunglasses, & the most neutral earrings sets. The only other jewelry I wear is my wedding ring. We’re not planning on any fancy dining, so I just keep it mom-chic. Since we’re away for only 4 days & I have 5 piercings in each ear, I typically stack up on the earrings to avoid the discomfort of a necklace or bracelet on my skin.

Basics for a Bargain: The Only Sleeveless Linen-Blend Top You’ll Ever Need!

A major heatwave hit Long Island recently, which is likely to happen again this summer, but that means that it’s imperative to stay cool! Wearing heavy materials that don’t breathe will make any outdoor time more oppressive. However, relying on linen & chambray materials will offer a fashionable & refreshing take on summer style. Specifically, Time & Tru’s core tank top @Walmart ($11.98) is a must-have for a casual Friday, to pair with shorts of any length, palazzo pants, or a maxi skirt. It’s available in 8 styles, including a stripe in black, rainbow, sandstone, & sunflower, along with solids blues in medium wash & vintage bleached, as well as tie-dye indigo & sea turtle, with varying availability in sizes XS-3XL.

I bought & am satisfied with the black & rainbow stripes, plus the medium wash tops. They’re easy breezy, though on the shapeless side, but that’s more than ideal for a fitted bottom. Overall, it would be a great top to travel in to start a vacation, when heading to a farmer’s market, or gathering for a weekend brunch.

The slide sandal comes in a flat, kitten heel, block heel, and even platform with an array of details including the material, such as leather or faux leather, basket weaving, or a jelly. However, if you are still in the market for comfortable, it’s stylish black knotted slides, don’t break the bank! You might find inspiration from designer label slides, but obtaining the look on a budget for your next backyard gathering, weekend chore, maxi dress & tote bag combo, or day at the beach in a romper is possible!

About 5 years ago, I posted about finding the prettiest & blingiest summer sandals from David’s Bridal, ones that I still wear to this day. I rotate them with about 3 other sandals, along with flip flops & ballet flats, depending on where I’m going. However, when buying a must-have item, it’s rare to see it still available to purchase, even a whole 5 years later! Since David’s Bridal carries year-round bridal accessories, along with newer, trendy pieces, it’s actually no surprise that the Gemma jeweled t-strap sandal (available in sizes 5-11, in rose gold & silver + wide width, $29.95) is still in stock & as fabulous as ever!

When it comes to sleepwear, I am so picky, it’s almost embarrassing. However, I am all about comfort & coverage, no matter the season. One-in-every-color is at it again! This time, I’m obsessed–to my surprise–with the Time and Tru peplum hem t-shirt @Walmart for $12.98. I had ordered only the berry fun (pink) & black soot colors on a whim, but I’ve just added the other colors to my cart, although dark navy is not available in my size!

I was scrambling to get ready for my last day of work before a long-awaited vacation & knew that I had my favorite past-season black ankle pants & a stack of casual, weekend tops at the ready without the forethought from the previous night to pick out my outfit. Suddenly, with Barbiecore on the brain, I grabbed the pink version of this top, a long necklace, & patterned flats; along with my ankle pants, I was all set. It’s not very often that I use Time and Tru pieces for work, especially when my comfortable, weekend wardrobe is way more toned down. I was happily surprised with the final look & excited to share it with readers since the 6 colors are made in sizes XS-XXXL, although availability may be limited due to the end of the summer season rush in stores.

The modal/polyester/spandex material of this top is lightweight & the perfect blend of summer business casual Friday; however, this top must be ironed or steamed. Luckily, I had my hand steamer nearby when I was rushing to put myself together & the top came out as polished as I expected.

Today’s post is all about getting an entire look for under $100, which is exactly what I was able to put together with these stylish, neutral, & versatile pieces from H&M for a total of $85.95 (before taxes & any shipping fees), including:

SHOP NOW: The Prettiest Maxi Dress for Summer from Amazon!

I’ve said it once & I’ll say it again… If there’s something that I love & it’s made in multiple colors, I’ll take it! This goes for cardigans, blouses, pants, ballet flats, & dresses too! So when I was searching Amazon for options to spruce up my summer maxi dresses, to wear to both work & for weekend or night occasions, I wanted something lightweight, classic, & effortless to pair with wedges or sandals, along with a cardigan or crossbody bag. When I happened upon this one-should midi dress from Zesica, I searched their Amazon store for more options, which included a Bohemian Spaghetti Strap Swiss Dot Sleeveless Smocked A Line Flowy Maxi Dress ($37.99) in 12 different colors: black, burgundy, dark orange, midnight blue, mint, navy, pink, plum, purple, rose, white, & green.

I’ve worn the midnight blue (which is more of a periwinkle) three times now: to a carnival fundraiser, a family dinner, & to work with a cardigan. The slit is only visible if you pose a certain way. Otherwise, I had no problem wearing it & liked the movement that the maxi offered. Additionally, I liked that the straps could be tied & bowed to fit my frame as I usually find that some straps are too loose, if they’re not adjustable, & then they tend to fall down. I bow for the straps is also a nice touch, adding to the Swiss dot, feminine feel. I paired this dress with metallic sandals, laser cut ballet flats, or flowered flip-flops, wearing a statement earring in a coordinating color. Also, I ended up ordering the plum color (which is more of a dusty rose) & have the mint & purple on my mind since I do love a bright hue, especially when there’s a $2 off promotional coupon applied to the purchase, but I may invest in those colors with other dresses that I have saved at the moment.

The only downside to the dress above is that Zesica only sells it in sizes S-XL. When thinking about holiday weekends & dressing in a theme, I try to find items that I already have & normally wear , so as to avoid a single specific holiday-only piece that I only break out once a year. When it comes to summer, I’m wearing dresses most of the time, which also means, depending on the style of dress, I’ve selected a belt to add some shape to an otherwise too flowy frock or I’m playing with the possibilities of a casual dress for other occasions. For summer, I love a belt with texture & detail, including braided styles that recall a basket weave aesthetic or one in straw material. Accessories Access: A Bold Crossbody Bag for Summer!

We’re almost at the close of June & my head & heart are already in vacation mode… & so is my wardrobe. I’ve always been able to find stylish, colorful, & multipurpose crossbody bags from Target & their A New Day brand has not let me down, yet again.

I came across this basket weave woven crossbody bag ($30.00) in coral pink, lime green, black, & teal blue in a bold display in the accessories department of my local Target store. More frequently now on the weekends, I’m opting for a smaller corssbody bag when I’m on the go, as opposed to the monster tote that I carry around all the time. Something like this with a nearly 52-inch strap length & canvas accent, especially in the coral pink, gets me excited for my family’s upcoming roadtrip to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, carrying all of my essentials, like my cell phone, ID & money, lip balm, sunscreen, hand sanitizer, & sunglasses.

I’ve been using the same crossbody from last summer, which is also one by A New Day, but it’s become more of my casual, everyday bag & for my vacation, I like the feeling of something new. The bright shade will match perfectly with an array of outfits, including a maxi dress & flat sandals for dinner, a graphic tee & linen shorts while at a park, or a blouse & cropped pants for a trip to a museum.

When on the hunt to spruce up some summer staples, I fell into the Amazon abyss, naturally. However, I was happy to come up for air with the Women’s Bohemian Summer One Shoulder Smocked Midi Dress sold by Zesica on Amazon. There are other vendors that carry this type of dress, but my heart landed on Zesica also because of some other favorited items that I added to my cart from their Amazon store too.

Anyway, what I love about this dress is its lightweight fabric, smocked bust (perfectly stretchy), & the variety of 28 styles–in 4 solid colors & 24 patterns–for $39.99.

I bought the black (top left) to wear to a Jewel concert recently, along with the grassgreen (second on top left) when attending a graduating ceremony recently. I might just add 1 or 2 more to my cart since I love the fit & style so much, plus I’m constantly seeing discounts posted with the purchase, like currently there’s a $2 off coupon with purchase. I’d recommend pairing this dress with a cropped cardigan for a daytime occasion or breaking out the jewel sandals for a dressier event.

I must say… The only downside is the dress runs from S-XL, which excludes the amazing plus-size shoppers & readers out there, but stores like Lane Bryant have got you covered with their gorgeous variety of summer midi dresses that are on sale now!

Looking back at my own personal style choices for the previous cooler months, I was glued to the many email blasts that I would receive from New York & Company, missing the local store in my nearby mall dearly; however, during my absence from the blogosphere in that time, I did find some stylish, comfortable, & timeless pieces that I will definitely usher into rotation for the next seasons to come.

This includes the following 4 pieces from New York & Company, all of which are now $9.99 -$19.99 on final sale, and up to 71%-89% off their original price, though there is limited size availability. These pieces come highly recommended as I do own each of them & love pairing them up with separates in different ways.

SHOP: butterfly-print midi skirt ($9.99), currently available in sizes M-XXL. The material is scuba-like, which means it’s heavier than a ponte, but it offers a lot of movement to be paired with the following suggested items: opague tights, patent leather pumps, & a crisp white button down shirt.

SHOP: Whitney high-waisted pull-on slim leg pant ($19.99), which is available sizes XS-XXL, as well as in petite. I suggest pairing this for a special occasion, such as around the holidays or a date night out, with a ruffle blouse & metallic sandals or bold cardigan & suede ballet flats.

SHOP: cable-knit v-neck sweater ($9.99) in beige or black, available in size XXL for both. This is an oversized sweater in the right way to pair up with faux leather leggings & stud earrings for a cozy day or plaid pants & colorblock heels for work.

Show Me the Shoes: Summer’s Perfect Laser Cut Ballet Flats!

If you’re the type of shopper to buy one of each (insert stylish vice here–mine are many!) in every color, then Ardene‘s Laser Cut Pattern Ballet Flats (sale: $10.43), where available in sizes 6-10, are the shoe for you! I recently bought the purple, yellow, & brown since I already have very similar black & white laser cut flats from previous years; however, this is a class summer style that will never go out of fashion.

I love the possibility of wearing any of these for any weekend family event, with a maxi dress & rose gold sunglasses, paired with tropic shorts & a bold tee, as well as for a concert or day of running errands. I love that I can feel my feet breathing, so to speak, & the fact that these shoes include a subtle cushion for my arch, offering support as I’m on the go, which isn’t always present in fast fashion flats.

Since this style is currently on sale for such a bargain-can’t-miss price, I might just go ahead & grade an extra pair of black & white flats to store for future seasons. However, my only wish is that these were also available in other pastel & neon hues, like a pistachio, powder blue, hot pink, or aqua. Perhaps, that would only fuel more of my penchant for variety.
