Runway Rundown: Rihanna Debuts Her River Island Collection At London Fashion Week!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Last month, word got out that superstar Rihanna was making her debut as a fashion designer with a new collection for British retailer, River Island. During London Fashion Week, the collection hit the runway & included models like Cara Delevingne, Jourdan Dunn, & Rochelle Wiseman in tight-fitting frocks, bold colors & tropical patterns, slitted dresses, beach-ready separates, & midriff-baring tops. The looks were very true to Rihanna’s personal street style & speaks to her effortless red carpet looks.

What do you think about this debut collection? Would you shop for these pieces? Are you looking forward to more from the fashion icon? Runway Rundown: Marchesa’s Fall 2013 Ready-To-Wear Collection!

In the past, I’ve always celebrated the designs of Marchesa, & this season’s latest from the brand’s Fall 2013 Ready-To-Wear Collection during New York Fashion Week is no exception! Not that I’m looking to ignore today’s holiday on the calendar, but I wanted to show one of my true loves in fashion! Co-founding & design duo Georgina Chapman & Keren Craig feature a luxe, vintage feel on the runway with plenty of embroidery to go around. The combination of red & gold, black & gold, black & silver call to mind inspiration from past season collections including Alexander McQueen or Carolina Herrera. Marchesa’s designs are nothing short of breath-taking- sure to attract celebrities like Blake Lively, Eva Longoria, Jennifer Lopez, & Naomi Watts to don the ornate gowns as this year’s awards season is about to come to a close at the end of February.

What do you think about the collection? Do you like Marchesa’s decadent direction for fall? Who can you picture wearing these looks? Runway Rundown: Victoria’s Beckham’s Fall 2013 Ready-To-Wear Collection!

I’ve been hearing so much about the big trends for the upcoming season, including the color emerald, black & white colorblocking, & more menswear inspiration, but from what I’ve seen so far, it looks like Victoria Beckham‘s Fall 2013 Ready-To-Wear Collection is hitting all the right notes for fall. This includes cobalt as a standout hue against neutrals like slate, charcoal, & jet, as well as plaid with blue highlights. This was also evident in the Holmes & Yang Fall 2013 Collection, which I recently featured in a Runway Rundown post! Which looks do you like the best? What trends are you following for 2013? Happy Styling!

Runway Rundown: The Holmes & Yang Fall 2013 Collection!

There are roves of new collections are walking the runways of New York Fashion Week, actress / designer Katie Holmes & her designer partner Jeanne Yang celebrated their latest Fall 2013 Collection for Holmes & Yang at the Palace Hotel in NYC. The line is inspired by “the working women & mothers,” with a wearable beauty look provided by Bobbi Brown. The 15-look collection recalls Katie’s all-American street style with blue & black plaids, red & taupe combinations, & classic-cut gowns.

Runway Rundown: Chanel’s Spring 2013 Haute Couture Collection!

New York Fashion Week is underway, Nemo or no Nemo, & while fashion critics are braving the blizzard to see what’s going on for the ultra chic Fall 2013 Ready-To-Wear Collections, I wanted to share some of the best Spring 2013 Haute Couture Collections, including Chanel. I’ve previously featured collections from the legendary French brand, including the Fall 2012 Haute Couture Collection & the latest Pre-Fall 2013 Collection, which continuously prove the decadence of the luxury behind the Chanel empire.

This latest line follows suit with classic tweeds in washed pastels, as well as floral details, lace accents, uber-high peep toe boot leggings, & a mix of leather & feathers. While the head-to-toe runway looks are perfect for editorials & perhaps a promotional appearance for Lady Gaga, there are so many pieces that will certainly scream out to stylish celebrities like Alexa ChungBlake Lively, Keira Knightley, Clemence Poesy, & Diane Kruger.

Runway Rundown: The Heart Truth’s Annual Red Dress Fashion Show, Featuring Kelly Osbourne, Minka Kelly, Jamie Chung, & More!

Last night’s The Heart Truth’s annual red dress fashion show kick-started New York Fashion Week, where celebrities like Kelly Osbourne (in Zac Posen), Jamie Chung (in David Meister), & Minka Kelly (in Oscar de la Renta) walked the runway to raise awareness for heart disease. Notable designers contributed their gowns & dress, including Carolina Herrera, Pamella Roland, Marc Bouwer, Badgley Mischka, Reem Acra, Tadashi Shoji, Nicole Miller, & more!

Color Me Style: Winter White Dresses Inspired By Rooney Mara, Nicole Richie, & Runway Looks Of Michael Kors, Rachel Zoe, & More!

Winter white is a big trend right now, especially when it comes to LWD (little white dresses). I’m a big fan of dresses- no surprise there- but I’ve yet to find a winter white dress that works for me. Whatever I have is definitely too summer-friendly in eyelet, cotton, or linen, however I’ve been very inspired by what’s happening on the latest runways when it comes to feminine white looks, featuring dresses of skirt outfits.

For example, take a look at the chic cocktail & casual white dresses, which were shown for seasons other than winter, but are certainly inspiring fashionistas everywhere. These looks include Rachel Zoe Spring 2013 Collection‘s shimmering shift dress, J. Mendel Pre-Fall 2013 Collection‘s old Hollywood sweetheart dress, Michael Kors Spring-Summer 2013 Collection‘s button-down shirt-dress, a slitted peplum dress by Marios Schwab Spring Ready-To-Wear 2013 Collection, the strapless bow-bedecked dress from Christopher Kane‘s Spring Ready-To-Wear 2013 Collection, Erin Fetherston Pre-Fall 2013 Collection‘s sheer lace mini dress, & Hervé Léger by Max Azria Pre-Fall 2013 Collection‘s belted body-conscious frock.

Rachel Zoe Spring 2013 Collection, J. Mendel Pre-Fall 2013 Collection, Michael Kors Spring-Summer 2013 Collection, Marios Schwab Spring Ready-To-Wear 2013 Collection, Christopher Kane Spring Ready-To-Wear 2013 Collection, Erin Fetherston Pre-Fall 2013 Collection, & Hervé Léger by Max Azria Pre-Fall 2013 Collection.

In addition, some of the most photographed stars have been hitting the red carpet in the last month while wear white dresses. Side Effects actress Rooney Mara hit the premiere of her latest film in this flower-embellished dress by Alexander McQueen, which she paired with neutral patent leather Nicholas Kirkwood peep toe pumps. This month’s Self magazine cover girlEmmy Rossum, took a break from promoting her new album, Sentimental Journey, in Santa Monica in this pleated Andrew Gn dress with sparkling pumps. Everywhere it-girl Kerry Washington attended an after-party for Django Unchained in a white lace Dolce & Gabbana shift dress with pointy toe Christian Louboutin stilettos.

Rooney Mara, Emmy Rossum, Kerry Washington, Taylor Swift, Emma Stone, & Nicole Richie.

Award-winning singer-songwriter, Taylor Swift, hit the blue carpet for the  40 Principales Awards in this plunging Kaufmanfranco three-quarter sleeve design with mixed-fabric sandals by Christian Louboutin & geometric drop earrings. Everyone’s favorite girl-next-door & Gangster Squad star, Emma Stone, helped announce this year’s Oscar nominees in a belted 50s-inspired dress by Andrew Gn with black patent leather pumps. Lastly, the always polished Nicole Richie stepped out for a party in Los Angeles in this white zip-up m ini dress with embellished leather accessories by Salvatore Ferragamo.

For the budget-conscious Style Darling, I wanted to find pieces that are perfect for wear now in the winter, given some mixing & matching of accessories, as well as dresses that’ll work for the upcoming spring season, although that seems to be getting further away from us on this Groundhog’s Day.  The first is the sheer sleeve lace dress ($24.80) from Forever 21, which would be perfect with black opaque tights or neon pops of color in a belt or pointy toe heels. Next, for a curve-hugging dress, I found the long & lean dress ($19.00) from Venus, which will also pair nicely over leather leggings & under a plaid button-down. While white is sometime bridal-looking, it can also be worn to work, like with this sleeveless ecru ponte sheath dress ($39.99) from White House Black Market.  I’d recommend wearing it with a red blazer & loafer-detailed pumps.

white dresses & accessories

I found this simply sweet & feminine shirt dress ($29.95) from H&M, & it’s the perfect foundation for a metallic braided belt, patent leather accessories, or classic lace & pearl details.  Lastly, for my plus-size readers, I was so happy to find this modern Alyx belted twist neckline dress ($40.00) from JC Penney, which is available in sizes 14W-24W.

White is such a stunning & pure color for a dress, but I was successful in searching for white accessories that will make any all-white, monochromatic, or trendy printed look stand out for every occasion. There’s never any reason why you shouldn’t have a pair of white shoes on hand, which is why I’m suggesting the pointed silver toe pumps ($32.50) from Charlotte RusseC Label Divine flats ($19.99) from 6PM, & the Wentzell pumps ($44.98) from ALDO shoes. Also, I’ve selected the patent skinny belt ($29.50) from Banana Republic, bejeweled bib necklace ($12.80) from Forever 21, & the Jennifer Lopez gold tone disc drop earrings ($12.00) form Kohl’s.

Which white pieces are your favorites? Would you wear a winter white dress now? How do you like to wear white? Which celebrity look do you like the best? Accessing luxury designers has just got a little easier! Project Runway winner Christian Siriano is expanding his mainstream fashion palette beyond a shoe collection for Payless with a new collaboration for HSN called Striking. The collection features dresses & separates priced between $80.00 – $170.00, which will debut on air on February 22nd. Siriano discussed his inspiration for the line with InStyle, saying that he wanted women to feel “striking & beautiful” in his designs, adding that “the collection is romantic, powerful, and of course, glamorous because that is how I love women to feel when they get dressed.”

As for the opportunity to share his work with HSN & the HSN shopper “This is runway style that is accessible with a wide variety of styles that can be worn every day, at any age… It’s great thing for any designer to be able to explain the process of their work in front of any customer… I think when you have a face and a heart behind a brand to support it then it’s much more powerful. I’m excited to bring my collection into women’s homes and make them feel comfortable when they make a purchase of any new spring item.

Runway Rundown: Lauren Conrad’s Stylish Spring 2013 Paper Crown Collection!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

It was only a few days ago that I shared a gallery of Lauren Conrad‘s Spring 2013 Collection for Kohl’s, featuring classic separates, feminine pops of color, & spring-ready dresses for a date; however the former reality star has also created a fabulous Spring 2013 line for her luxury brand, Paper Crown. The combination of belted & minimalist maxi dresses, luxe button-downs with chiffon accents, leather leggings paired with oversized matte sequins, & timeless pieces for day, date, & the office offers a variety to mix & match with any wardrobe. Of course, Lauren’s ladylike prepster style will resonate with the J. Crew / Banana Republic / Lulu’s shopper & I’m crazy about the details like cream lace, soft bows, a relaxed fit.

Would you wear any of the pieces in this collection? Do you like Lauren’s style & taste for this line? Do you follow celebrity-turned-designer brands? Rihanna

Rihanna is a chameleon on the red carpet & has some of the trendiest street style of any celebrity today. Her above looks are always unexpected, whether she’s headed to a formal event in Lanvin or Marchesa, but what’s even more fabulous is that she upgrades her daytime style in chic pieces from Stella McCartney.

With her ever-changing hairstyles & turns from ladylike to rock chic to 80s throwback, she’s lending her stylish voice to her debut collection for River Island, a U.K. brand which is inspired by “British High Street.” Check out the video below to hear the Grammy nominee has developed the collection, which debuts February 16th during London Fashion Week!

Ad Madness: Kate Hudson Returns As Model For Ann Taylor & Will Be Designing A Celebrity Capsule Collection!

Last year, I shared images from Kate Hudson‘s campaigns as a spokesmodel for Ann Taylor, once in July & another time in March. It seems that the success of her face for the brand has led to yet another opportunity to sport the latest spring duds, as well as inspire the Oscar-nominated actress to collaborate in designing  the first ever celebrity capsule collection for Ann Taylor, which will hit stores this summer. Kate tells InStyle, “Working with Ann Taylor has been a great creative experience and there is a really wonderful connection… Putting these outfits together has been incredibly fun—they have such youthful energy and flair!

While the spring looks are all things feminine, crisp, & sophisticated, I’m excited that the new collaboration will be inspired by Kate’s very fabulous red carpet style, but reinterpreted for everyday occasions. Kate has even lent her opinion on the website with Kate’s picks, including a gown ($550.00), striped blazer ($98.00), blouse ($88.00), yellow jeans ($88.00), & a bangle ($34.99).

Runway Rundown: A First Look At LC Lauren Conrad’s Latest Spring Collection For Kohl’s!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I’ve been featuring a whole lot of high-end luxury fashion lately in Runway Rundown, but I haven’t forgotten about my style-on-a-budget roots, which is why I wanted to feature the lookbook from LC Lauren Conrad‘s Kohl’s Collection. I love Lauren’s red carpet style, which I’ve featured in previous posts including her sweater dress look, leather dress by Johanna Johnson, lovely yellow Yoana Baraschi frock, summer-ready maxi dress, & a classic round toe pump look.

What I love about Lauren’s collection is not only its affordability, but that her pieces are so accessible for the average shopper. The collection, which debuts in stores next month, includes classic shapes & patterns like polka dots in navy & white or black & white, floral jeans, bow & lace details, timeless blouses, & figure-flattering separates. In addition, the line includes adorable mary jane shoes, platform pumps, & scalloped flats, all of which can be mixed up for day, the office, night, & weekend looks. There’s nothing stuffy, pretentious, unwearable, or unrealistic about this collection & I can’t wait to use my next round of Kohl’s coupons on these pieces!

Runway Rundown: Rachel Roy’s Pre-Fall 2013 Collection!

Mixing & matching printed separates isn’t necessarily an innovative idea, especially when you look in the pages of today’s hottest fashion magazines, but when designer Rachel Roy does it, there’s something refreshing, cool, young, & modern. This is evident in her Pre-Fall 2013 Collection, which features plenty of matching separates, gorgeous outerwear, menswear inspiration, as well as some chic quirkiness, which isn’t always easy to find when considering high-end luxury fashion. There is an abundance of possiblity within the line, which thrives on a variety of trends, including leather, colorblocking, head-to-toe graphic prints, wide-leg pants, & sophisticated knitwear. These details are sure to attract fans of the brand including Freida Pinto, Viola Davis, Zoe Saldana, Cameron Diaz, Olivia Palermo, & Gwyneth Paltrow.

Click through the gallery to see the collection & share your thoughts on the elegant & hip mixture. Do you think Rachel Roy is heading in the right direction? Would you wear any of these looks? Basics For A Bargain: Monochromatic Looks To Brighten Up Any Season, Wardrobe, & Budget!

It’s not often that I wear monochromatic looks, but when I do, it’s usually either black or gray. These are go-to colors that I know I can always mix & match with each other, especially when I’m headed to work & am looking for something chic & fluid to wear. I was inspired by monochrome outfits during my last photo shoot of pictures of myself to post on Style Darling (see the all-green sweater & pants look, for example).

Since I started covering Runway Rundown here, I noticed the dominance of monochromatic designs, especially for the 2013 runways. This includes Calvin Klein Collection with a multi-textural caramel look, Michael Kors‘ lemon yellow duds, Elie Saab‘s cobalt crush, Salvatore Ferragamo using neutral beige, Christopher Kane‘s all-white ensemble, Bottega Veneta‘s brick menswear-inspiration, & BCBG Max Azria‘s flowing black separates.

Calvin Klein, Michael Kors, Elie Saab, Salvatore Ferragamo, Christopher Kane, Bottega Veneta, & BCBG Max Azria.

Taking a cue from the runways, there have been plenty of color-on-color red carpet apperances. Celebrities who’ve donned monochromatic looks include Michelle Williams who attended the New York Times Arts & Leisure Weekend event in head-to-toe black with a belted mini, tights, & suede booties. Fashion icon Alexa Chung breaks up her nearly-monochromatic look in an oxblood turtleneck by Versus & leather zip-up mini with lasercut flats. Country songstress Taylor Swift went for a more mature look in a custom-made all-white suit by J. Mendel at last year’s MTV Video Music Awards. Victoria Beckham looks nothing short of amazing in her nude sheath dress design with Brian Atwood pumps. Lastly, back in 2009, Penelope Cruz dazzles in a three-piece scarlett suit by Bottega Veneta at the London premiere of Broken Embraces with two-tone strappy sandals.

Michelle Williams, Alexa Chung, Taylor Swift, Victoria Beckham, & Penelope Cruz.

Now that we’ve seen what’s going on inside the pages of our favorite magazines & who’s wearing what on the runways, I wanted to show how anyone can wear a monochromatic look without breaking your budget. What’s great about finding identical tones is the crisp & clean look that it creates & that’s where you can have fun with accessorizing with a sparkling scarf, baubled cocktail rings, bib necklaces, embossed handbags, & so on. In these looks, I have included at least one accessory, but it’s simply a suggestion & option to really bring the look together & in most cases (except for the teal look) still fits within budget.

First, I’ve been thinking about coral, ever since a post from The $100 Challenge where I featured a coral dress for the holidays, but I just love the softness of the color, which is perfect for any skintone. It instantly adds some natural rosiness to your cheeks & always looks feminine. The studded Peter Pan collar shirt ($22.80) from Forever 21 already has some built-in detail with the gold that helps frame your face. This matches perfectly with Target‘s Mossimo ankle pant ($27.99) & the sueded uber platform pumps ($12.50) from Charlotte Russe, which have just been reduced from their original $32.50 price. Lastly, I fell in love with the art deco-inspired spike triangle earrings ($8.77) from ASOS, which add a rose gold luxury to such a relaxed, yet sophisticated outfit. Also, if you want to break up these pieces to create a trendy or unexpected look, mix things up with dark denim skinnies, cap toe ballet flats, a silk boyfriend blazer, or metallic belt.

I’ve also been seeing a neon opportunity for your wardrobe for quite some time now. Of course, this color is to be worn confidently & with caution. We all want to look so good we stop traffic, but this look with highlighter yellow or electric lime tones could almost guarantee such a result. It all started with the a.n.a. perfect skinny corduroy pants ($17.00) from JC Penney that I spotted sometime before the holidays, but now they’re marked down & I’m excited to see how these might be worn for the rest of the winter & into spring. I paired these with the boatneck banded bottom tee ($29.90) from Express & Forever 21‘s faux suede pumps ($29.80). While any gold, white lacquered, or lucite jewelry will enhance this look, Alloy‘s Zahara neon necklace ($19.90) was just irresistible, thanks to a search on ShopStyle for matching accessories. Also, for more ideas on how to wear these pieces, consider other neutrals like charcoal, black, & navy, as well as classic patterns like polka dots, houndstooth, & plaid.

Coral, Neon, Teal, & Fuchsia.

I found myself a little troubled when looking for coordinating pieces for my teal ensemble- ones that wouldn’t make me go over budget, but… I did. Sometimes that happens when you find absolutely must-have pieces. I just adore this color (on me!) & think it’s a bold way to reinterpret greens & blues since it falls so beautifully in the middle. While checking out the newest arrivals @New York & Company, I found the satiny pleated from belted blouse ($29.95), which instantly made me think to find a skirt. Then the Grace Elements teal skirt with yoke ($24.99) from Loehmann’s was a perfect fit, especially if you’re trying to refresh your work wardrobe. For an extra fun touch, @Steve Madden, the Intrude pumps ($34.99) are just what this look needed to add some texture & despite the myth of material, these can be worn any time of the year. Finally, the Croft & Barrow jet bead hoop drop earrings ($12.00) from Kohl’s put the look just a bit over $100, but you can always keep this affordable by wearing favorites that you may already own like diamond stud earrings or something in silver.

My final look goes out to my plus-size Style Darlings because I think a berry tone is perfect for any shape & any woman. I shopped Wet Seal‘s plus section to find the 3/4 sleeve belted blouse ($18.99) on sale, which comes with a detachable belt, perfect for wearing over a cardigan or jersey dress to help enhance your curves. To keep this look balanced & figure-flattering, the roz & ALI stretch colored jeggings ($19.99) from Dress Barn helped complete the bottom half, especially since they’re available in sizes 14-24. I found the Rocket Dog Monica flat ($24.94) @DSW, which would also help dress down a shirt dress, work if paired with a denim skirt & sweater, or contrast a ruffled blouse & dolman top. My final piece to this looks is the neon metallic teardrop earring ($5.80) from Forever 21, which would sparkle for a date night in an LBD or look cute with a mod shift dress.

Do you wear a monochromatic look? Which colors are you most drawn to? Do you prefer matchy-matchy pieces or like to contrast with colorblocking? For more from Basics For A Bargain, check out posts including outerwear inspired by Kate Middleton & Gwen Stefani, pointy toe heels as seen on Mandy Moore & Miranda Kerr, & how to copy separates looks like Kate Hudon & Kristen Stewart! Also, for more affordable looks under $100, check out a sleek black & silver cocktail look, building with black textured accessories, & how to wear a leopard wrap dress! Runway Rundown: Calvin Klein’s Pre-Fall 2013 Collection!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

You’d think that after a while that all of the Pre-Fall 2013 Collections look the same, but this is false, especially when you consider the latest designs by Calvin Klein Collection. In light of the recent Presidential Inauguration, I’ve been giving a lot of thought to American designers & Calvin Klein is a name that stands the test of time. So many celebrities continue to wear his designs, including Golden Globe winner Jessica Chastain, The Lucky One actress Taylor Schilling, Gwyneth Paltrow, former Grey’s Anatomy star Nora Zehetner, Emily Blunt, Sarah Jessica Parker, & Jennifer Lawrence!

My favorite part of this line is the mixture of outerwear in different textures, as well as the menswear-inspired belts over a majority of the looks. Using leather, wool, faux fur, & jersey has made this a versatile collection that will surely draw more celebrity fans. For more from Runway Rundown, check out the latest galleries from Diane von Furstenberg, Lanvin, Donna Karan, Alice + Olivia, Narciso Rodriguez, & Alexander McQueen! Runway Rundown: Diane von Furstenberg’s Pre-Fall 2013 Collection!

One of the most famous & well-known designers is Diane von Furstenberg. Everytime I hear about her, or see her on TV, I’m more & more interested in her designs, especially since her timeless love of prints keeps getting better. Her designs speak to women of every age & even after her recent appearance as a guest judge on the recently ended season 2 of Project Runway All Stars, I think she’s one of the most intelligent & diplomatic voices in fashion. With her latest Pre-Fall 2013 Collection, there’s plenty of color, print, femininity, & sophistication in the dresses, separates, outerwear, & accessories.

Which looks are your favorites? Would you wear any of these? Have you been following the Pre-Fall 2013 collections? For more from Runway Rundown, check out galleries including J. MendelNarciso Rodriguez, Lanvin, Gucci, Rachel Zoe Collection, Nanette Lepore, & Bottega Veneta. Happy Styling!

Red Carpet Review / Runway Rundown: Style Darling’s Top 20 Best Oscar-Worthy Gown Predictions!

We’re less than a month away from the 2013 Academy Awards & the SAG Awards are this weekend! The speculation behind the results inside those envelopes & what the nominees are going to wear have been bouncing around all over the web & for the first time, I’m going to share my fashion predictions, based off the Pre-Fall 2013, Spring 2013 Ready-To-Wear, Spring 2013 Haute Couture, & Resort 2013 collection runways. Of course, Oscar-nominated celebrities like Jessica Chastain, Jennifer Lawrence, Anne Hathaway, Amy Adams & Naomi Watts are subject to one-of-a-kind custom-made haute couture gowns, but it’s been a lot of fun to click around & find the most gorgeous gowns that wowed on the runway. In addition to the nominees who are celebrating their achievements in film, possible presenters like Rachel Weisz, Amanda Seyfried, Jennifer Lopez, Emily Blunt, Kate Hudson, Jennifer Garner & more will be turning heads on the red carpet.

Surely there will be lots of glitz & glamour, but predictions of trends are hard to tell. There was so much going on at this year’s Golden Globes, including black, black & gold, white, pink, long sleeves, cut-outs, high slits, & nude illusions. Starting off is a gold lamé & embellished gown from Michael Kors Resort 2013 Collection, which was recently featured in a Runway Rundown post. From Carlos Miele‘s Resort 2013 Collection comes this beautiful embellished sweetheart gown with an animal print under-lining. Some might call the white & black-leather accented Emilio Pucci dress from the Pre-Fall 2013 Collection is too safe for the Oscars, but I think it’s a modern & refreshing take on a white gown.

Michael Kors, Carlos Miele, Emilio Pucci, Monique Lhuillier, & Jenny Packham.

For the risk-taking Style Darling, I can see the metallic long-sleeved gown from Monique Lhuillier‘s Pre-Fall 2013 Collection making an entrance on the red carpet. I picked this tangerine Jenny Packham Spring 2013 Ready-To-Wear Collection gown b/c of its unexpected color, but on the right skin-tone, it will certainly set some trends on the red carpet for the rest of the year.

Next, we have a floral-embroidered belted gown by Temperley London, which was featured in the Pre-Fall 2013 Collection. This has a very classic, Zooey Deschanel look to it, which is why I loved including it! Badgley Mischka is a name synonymous with red carpets & perhaps we’ll see this all-over embellished metallic gown from their Pre-Fall 2013 Collection on one of the front-running Oscar nominees. One of my favorite designers forever & always is Marchesa & I wasn’t surprised to see so many red carpet candidates in their Spring 2013 Ready-To-Wear Collection, including this sari-inspired sheer-overlay blue & gold confection.

Temperley London, Badgley Mischka, Marchesa, Collette Dinnigan, & Roberto Cavalli.

I love the feminine softness from the short-sleeved Collette Dinnigan gown from the Resort 2013 Collection. The coral / fuchsia hue is perfect for an ingénue like the ever-changing Dakota Fanning or the retro Krysten Ritter. Roberto Cavalli‘s black sequined & lace overlay corset-structured gown is a stunning choice for a more dramatic look on the red carpet & it’s from the Pre-Fall 2013 Collection.

Designs by Alexandre Vauthier made a style statement at the Golden Globes since both supermodel Heidi Klum & Downton Abbey actress Michelle Dockery both donned looks, but I picked this leg-baring halter gown from the Spring 2013 Haute Couture Collection. J. Mendel‘s Pre-Fall 2013 Collection was a dreamy mixture of texture, detail, flowy fabrics, & strong silhouettes, including this lace-accented spaghetti strap gown with off-the-shoulder tiers. Also, Giambattista Valli‘s white & gold ball gown took my breath away from its Spring 2013 Haute Couture Collection & would certainly wow fashion critics if worn on Isla Fisher, Julianne Hough, or Kerry Washington.

Alexandre Vauthier, J. Mendel, & Giambattista Valli.

Valentino, Christian Dior, & Elie Saab.

There ought to be room on any red carpet for a Valentino red gown, like this strapless & effortless gown from the Spring 2013 Haute Couture Collection. Also, Christian Dior‘s Spring 2013 Haute Couture Collection featured the pink puffy mermaid ball gown. In addition, someone like Diane Kruger or Zoe Saldana can wear an floral-embellished, dramatic gown like this from Elie Saab‘s Spring 2013 Haute Couture Collection.

After Lucy Liu‘s splash at the Globes in Carolina Herrera, I knew I had to look further into her Pre-Fall 2013 Collection, which included this gorgeous black & white graphic print gown, perfect for fans of the label including Renee Zellweger, Emmy Rossum, or Olivia Wilde.  Next, from Oscar de la Renta‘s Spring 2013 Ready-To-Wear, this aqua tiered dream of a gown is borderline bridesmaid, but the color is just so pretty & it reminds me of the Romona Keveza ball gown that Kaley Cuoco wore at last year’s SAG Awards.

Carolina Herrera, Oscar de la Renta, Zac Posen, & Jason Wu.

You can’t have a look at the best from the runway without talking about American designer, Zac Posen, & his Pre-Fall 2013 Collection, which is a dramatic statement that will change the way black gowns appear on the red carpet. Lastly, a daring look for the Oscars comes from Jason Wu‘s Spring 2013 Ready-To-Wear Collection & perhaps a young starlet like Emma Watson would wear this will some extra lining to fill the skirt since the ceremony is so formal.

Which designers are you hoping to see on the red carpet? Which gown is your favorite? Which nominees are you rooting for during this year’s Oscars? For a number of years, as I’ve been studying fashion, trying to become fluent in designers’ signatures, I was always able to recognize the structure behind a Narciso Rodriguez design. After a successful capsule collection for Kohl’s, the designer has revealed his Pre-Fall 2013 Collection, featuring a modern mix of minimalist structure, luxe leather, contemporary colorblocking, & plenty of menswear-inspiration. Fans of the brand include Jessica Alba, Claire Danes, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Emma Roberts, & Reese Witherspoon.

Runway Rundown: The Finale Runway Looks From Season 2 Of Project Runway All Stars!

It’s been almost a week since the season finale of Project Runway All Stars, where Season 9 designer & fan favorite, Anthony Ryan Auld, was crowned the winner, ahead of Uli Herzner & Emilio Sosa. Even though Uli was my personal favorite, I was very happy to see Anthony Ryan receive the accolade that he deserves. Courtesy of My Lifetime, I’m sharing a gallery of the final runway, featuring Anthony Ryan’s “Fine Line” looks first, followed by Emilio’s “Urban Plantation,” & lastly with Uli’s “Winter Wonderland.” This was one of the most exciting episodes of the season & I loved watching judges model Carolyn Murphy, Marchesa co-founder & designer Georgina Chapman, & American icon Isaac Mizrahi, sit with guest judges actress Liv Tyler & Missoni heir, Margherita Missoni.

Which were your favorite looks from the runway? Did your favorite designer win? Are you going to watch Season 11 of Project Runway this Thursday with new judge Zac Posen? For more from Project Runway posts, check out the looks from the graffiti challenge, the 10th anniversary Lord & Taylor challenge, the finale looks from Season 10 at Fashion Week, the runway from Anya Ayoung-Chee’s winning collection, & Dmitry Sholokov’s winning collection from Season 9! When a celebrity says that they’re wearing a design by Lanvin, then you automatically known that it’s going to be glamorous. We’ve already seen some of the latest Pre-Fall 2013 Collection pieces at work on the red carpet, including Emma Stone‘s ravishing sweetheart look from the Gangster Squad premiere in Los Angeles, a featured in a Top 10 Celeb Sightings post! However, this collection includes stunning separates, ranging in a variety of styles- if you’re into that Katharine Hepburn menswear look, or love what Rooney Mara’s character, Lisbeth Salander, rocked in Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Not to mention there’s so much luxe style here with animal prints, fur trims, leather accents, belts, & edgy boots. The collection marks a progression since its Spring-Summer 2013 Collection, which featured a mix of light & dark tones, along with mod silhouettes. Other stars who love Lanvin include Claire Danes, Jennifer Garner, Blake Lively, Natalie Portman, Zoe Saldana, & more!

Which looks are your favorites? Would you wear any of these pieces? Which Pre-Fall 2013 runways have you been following? For more galleries featured in Runway Rundown, check out Donna Karan, Alice + Olivia, J. Mendel, & Rachel Zoe Collection! Happy Styling!

Donna Karan is certainly one of the great American designers, & the latest Pre-Fall 2013 Collection proves just that! The line includes plenty of classic black & white combinations, mixed with jackets, tops, trousers, & skirts, with oxblood, navy, & charcoal accents. What’s so refreshing about this collection are the modern shapes for the pieces, including the dresses, which are sure to impress on the red carpet if worn by celebrity fans like Ashley Greene, Katharine McPhee, Lucy Lui, Demi Moore, & Taylor Swift. I’m hoping to see some of the more formal gowns show up during the awards season since we still have a few more ceremonies to see!

Runway Rundown: Alice + Olivia’s Pre-Fall 2013 Collection!

As a budget shopper, I know I can’t have a closet full of designers like Zac Posen, Michael Kors, Erin Fetherston, & Bottega Veneta… but a Style Darling can dream, right? Adding to my galleries in Runway Rundown is the latest Pre-Fall 2013 Collection from Alice + Olivia. The line features a mix of city-smart separates with lots of street style appeal- perfect for coordinating with current wardrobe essentials, as well as feminine dresses that range in details with lace, abstract prints, & chiffon. I love the youthful feel of this collection & how the leather, striped, & textured pieces add to a rich & exciting upcoming season. Celebrity fans of Alice + Olivia include Emmy Rossum, Lauren Conrad, Emily Blunt, & Jessica Alba, who are all sure to make appearances in these duds.

Which looks are your favorite? Do you appreciate the subway-themed background? Where would you wear some of these pieces? Which designers have you been following? Happy Styling!

Show Me The Shoes: Christian Siriano’s Latest Arrivals For Payless!

Christian SirianoShoe-gasm alert! Yes, I said it! When I saw the latest arrivals from Christian Siriano for Payless, I nearly died from joy… shoe-joy to be specific & I knew, without a doubt, that these just had to be included in my next Show Me The Shoes post! The Project Runway winner continues to share his talents & stylish shoe designs with the mainstream public after a number of successful collections for Payless- my favorite spot to find affordable & comfortable shoes that will only out a smile on my face!

Even though we’re still in the thick of winter, clad with textured boots & leather footwear, getting to see what’s coming for spring is refreshing & exciting, especially since Siriano has selected a soft & feminine color palette, recreating the way we consider neutral shoes. The classic nude patent texture is replaced with a pearlescent shine & a light polka dot pattern can certainly work with stripes, florals, & anything else you can think of. Also, I’m crazy for mint, especially when paired with metallic accents, sure to work with any wrap dress, cotton frock, or mini skirt look as we patiently wait for spring to begin.

The Polina bow flat ($42.99) in champagne or taupe are a playful nod to the New York ballet scene, perfect for pairing with a sheath dress & cardigan for the office, boyfriend jeans & a white blazer for a day out & about, or your favorite colored jeans & a blouse when grabbing a bite to eat with the girls.  The Cynthia sling ($54.99) in taupe or champagne are a sexy way to play up any bombshell look, especially if wearing something with lace details, structure with a belt, or to elongate the legline in skinny pants.

The Julie Mary Jane heel ($54.99) in champagne & mint are by far my favorite, especially the mint pair, which pay homage to old Hollywood screen sirens like Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly, or Elizabeth Taylor.  The vintage-inspired shape also bares resemblance to dancing shoes, so you can get the party started in these while wearing your favorite LBD, a-line dress, or sequined top & feathered mini skirt.

Christian Siriano for Payless

Perhaps the most daring of the collection includes the Natalia wedge sandal ($54.99), which is a flirty blend of resort-chic if matched with a maxidress to walk the boardwalk, or to add a mod splash to a printed, sleeveless shift dress.

In addition, this collection is an extension from Siriano’s ballet-themed Spring-Summer 2013 Collection, which I featured in Runway Rundown back in September. Check out the video below to see the collection in motion on the runway, & hear about his inspiration for the light & ethereal colors which are reinventing the way we style with neutral shoes!

What do you think of this collection? Are you a fan of the color palette? Which shoes are your favorite? Runway Rundown: J. Mendel’s Pre-Fall 2013 Collection!

Leather, cut-outs, tweed, faux fur, brocade, peplums, & lace just aren’t going away… & why should they? In J. Mendel‘s latest Pre-Fall 2013 Collection, we see all these luxe details celebrated in dramatic, dark colors with plenty of texture, as well as softer tones with feminine accents. We’ve already seen what the designer can do since Girls actress Allison Williams walked the red carpet of last weekend’s Golden Globes in this stunning plunging black gown. Other celebrity fans of the brand include Taylor Swift, Emma Stone, Brooklyn Decker, & Malin Akerman. This collection is full of visual interest & will definitely help inspire some of my looks for the rest of the winter season & as we look forward to a very stylish 2013.

Mendel, check out Maria Sharapova at the ESPY Awards, Lucy Liu walking the red carpet for her new show Elementary, & Taylor Swift‘s ivory & metallic design at the MTV European Music Awards! Runway Rundown: Rachel Zoe’s Pre-Fall 2013 Collection!

I’ve done my best to consistently share with readers some of my favorite designers with all these posts of the Pre-Fall 2013 Collections for Runway Rundown, but I couldn’t forget about Rachel Zoe. Not only is the talented celebrity stylist continuing her reign on the red carpet, pieces from her Rachel Zoe Collection has been spotted on celebrities like Krysten Ritter, Elizabeth Banks, Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Mara, & Karolina Kurkova.

With plenty of 1970s inspiration, the collection includes lots of separates, perfect for press events & any Style Darling looking to improve their daytime & work wardrobe. I love the casual feel of this crisp & cool collection, especially the leather-trimmed hats, knee boots, & utilitarian belts.
