Top 10 Celeb Sightings: Winter Style Envy with Inspiration from Alicia Vikander, Jessica Alba, Olivia Palermo, & More!

Before we get into what’s going on in the world of celebrity style, I’d like to wish everyone a very happy & stylish 2016. I took a much-needed break from the blogosphere where I finished my thesis (a full-length memoir) & I’m on track to graduate with my MFA this May! Also, I tackled a busy holiday season of working 2 jobs (whilst finishing said thesis) & getting sidelined with 2 cases of laryngitis. However, in keeping with good news, I’m happily part of a new relationship, which is motivating me more to conquer 2016 with all things positive & stylish. I’ve learned that the key to any passion project (I’ve transitioned from thesis to blog) is to make sure your life is in order & in a good place before you can successfully dive into it.

In my absence, A LOT has happened when it comes to celebrity style & wow-worthy red carpet moments. With today’s major snowstorm (shutting down part of Long Island, at least), I finally have the opportunity to indulge in some fashion eye candy, catching up on the latest trends & getting inspired when it comes to a chic winter wardrobe. I scoured the web for this winter’s best red carpet & street style looks, planning on how I can add some sparkle & pastel to my regular rotation, as well as playing with monochromatic looks or menswear inspiration.

Alicia Vikander, Dakota Johnson, Gigi Hadid, Jessica Alba, & Jourdan Dunn.Oscar nominee Alicia Vikander’s monochromatic magenta included a satin cami crop top with a pair of culottes & satin Stuart Weitzman sandals (shop similar here @6PM) at the 31st Annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival. How To Be Single star Dakota Johnson looked minimalist at the AOL Build Speaker Series for her latest film in a sleek white off-shoulder crop top, pair of black trousers, Jennifer Fisher cuff, & black sandals (shop similar here @Dune London). Model Gigi Hadid kept cozy in Paris with a slouchy cowl-neck ivory One x OneTeaspoon sweater with destroyed cropped jeans (shop similar here @Old Navy), mirrored aviators (shop similar here @Charlotte Russe), a furry camel Katie Ermilio coat, & lace-up pumps. Mogul / actress Jessica Alba attended the Who What Wear x Target launch party in designs from the collaboration with a striped tee (shop here @Target), bold floral pencil skirt (shop plus size here @Target), moto jacket (shop here @Target), black clutch, & silver Brian Atwood pumps (shop similar here @Macy’s). Model Jourdan Dunn dazzled in a pearl & silver iridescent silk organza Ralph & Russo bustier dress with a pair of silver satin Ralph & Russo pumps at the Zoolander 2 premiere.

Lucy Hale, Naomie Harris, Olivia Palermo, Penelope Cruz, & Rachel McAdams.Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale showed her street style chops headed to the SiriusXM Studios in a black & powder blue flared look with a multicolored woven coat, an ear jacket, a color-block tote, & black pumps (shop similar here @Forever 21). Bond girl Naomie Harris went nautical in a sheer-sleeved white blouse with high-waist buttoned Burberry trousers (shop similar here @Dillard’s) at a party for Louis XIII ‘100 Years’. Style icon Olivia Palermo made the rounds at Couture Fashion Week in a black cowl-neck Iris von Arnim knit, nautical-inspired wide-leg pants, an olive fur stole (shop similar here @Bluefly), & matching mini top-handle purse. Spanish beauty Penelope Cruz sparkled in a custom gold chainmail Atelier Versace gown with a matching Versace clutch, sandals, & Chopard jewelry at the Zoolander 2 premiere. Oscar nominee Rachel McAdams wore a graphic Jonathan Simkhai little white dress with beige pleated Christian Louboutin shoes at the 31st Annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

Which celebrity is wearing your favorite look? Whose style inspires you the most? Which trends are you talking about this winter? Thanks so much to all of my readers for your continued support during my blog hiatus, especially on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, & Pinterest. Happy Styling!

Top 10 Celeb Sightings: LBDs, Florals, & Structured Polish From Jennifer Aniston, Diane Kruger, Selena Gomez, & More!

I’m trying to catch up the biggest headlines in fashion, while keeping my budget in mind, especially since I’m currently on a shopping fast to cleanse not just my soul, but also my savings account! However, what better way to indulge in fashion than to check out the latest red carpet looks from our favorite celebrities. Between We Are The Millers & Mortal Instruments, I’m kind of obsessed with seeing how young Hollywood & veteran Style Darlings are keeping their cool during these last few weeks of summer.

My top picks include both of Jennifer Aniston‘s looks, including a flirty LBD by Alexander McQueen that she accessorized with a leather corset belt, as well as the former Friends star in a feminine floral Christian Dior dress with sleek ankle-strap Casadei stilettos. Also, I’m loving Amanda Seyfried‘s metallic polka dot Gucci frock with Givenchy heels & The Bridge actress, Diane Kruger, in a structured plaid Carven midi dress with nude Stuart Weitzman pumps.

Also included in the gallery are the always lovely Ashley Greene in a studded Temperley London shift dress, style blogger / Revenge star Ashley Madekwe‘s stunning yellow jumpsuit by Diane von Furstenberg with a vintage Chanel belt, Julianne Hough‘s Halston HeritageBec & Bridge separates look, Pretty Little Liars bombshell Lucy Hale‘s Paper London ensemble, Olivia Wilde‘s wild printed Clover Canyon midi dress, & lastly, pop star Selena Gomez showing some leg in a green Cushnie et Ochs dress with nude Nicholas Kirkwood pumps.

Which looks are your favorite from the red carpet? For fashionable looks from the best dressed in Hollywood, check out previous posts including Lily Collins’ latest press tour, Chloe Grace Moretz’s Glamour cover shoot, Michelle Williams as the face of Louis Vuitton, & sleek black & white looks from Gwen Stefani & Karolina Kurkova! Cover Craze: Shakira Sizzles For ELLE’s July Issue, Katy Perry Makes Her Vogue Debut, & More!

It’s definitely going to be one hot summer, especially when it comes to the latest magazine covers. I’ve been trying to squeeze in some mag time & get inspired for some new summer looks & what to look forward to with my upcoming vacation wardrobe. However, I couldn’t help but share the latest & greatest in store for July, especially when the headlines there’s so much to talk about!

First, Shakira hits up ELLE, talking about her position as coach on The Voice, along with motherhood, her relationships, & her international fame. Also, another foreign beauty is Salma Hayek Pinault on the cover of InStyle‘s July issue. The dazzling 46-year-old actress has really never looked better, especially in this stunning Yves Saint Laurent red dress. The third & perhaps most exciting cover belongs to Katy Perry who makes her Vogue debut, showing off a stunning & feminine side to the popstar in floral frocks like her cover look by Rodarte. Lauren Conrad talks up her ambition & goals as both fashion designer & writer in the sunny pages of Marie Claire, while also giving plenty of tips on how to look summer-ready with bangs.

Man of Steel starlet Amy Adams is not only this summer’s big-screen Lois Lane, but she talks beauty in the pages of Allure, sharing that her plain face makes for a great makeup canvas. Speaking of beauty, Pretty Little Liars actress Lucy Hale makes her Lucky debut with a slew of edgy menswear looks, including pieces by Chanel, that are easy for any shopper of any budget to achieve! Helena Bonham Carter may be Tim Burton’s muse, but she’s certainly bemusing in the pages of Vogue UK, especially since images have recently hit the web of her playing the iconic role of Elizabeth Taylor for the upcoming BBC movie Burton and Taylor. Lastly, Kesha makes fitness look sexy, especially with a minimalist take on activewear fashions in next month’s Self. The blonde singer has never looked more naturally gorgeous as she talks about how she keeps her gams in shape!

Red Carpet Review: 2013 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards Featuring Katy Perry, Jessica Alba, Fergie, & More!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Last night, young Hollywood celebrate the biggest hits & most popular kids in show business for the 2013 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards! Normally, this isn’t an event that I’d cover for Style Darling, but there were some pretty fantastic style moments on the red carpet, celebrating the brightest colors, busiest patterns, & most flattering silhouettes for spring. This includes favorites Jessica Alba in a printed Mary Katrantzou dress with pointed toe bowed heels, as well as a midriff-baring Katy Perry in a printed Herve Leger by Max Azria two-piece outfit with black pointy toe pumps. Also, in tow was a very pregnant Fergie also wearing a colorful Mary Katrantzou dress with neon ankle strap sandals & Victoria Justice in a printed Pia Pauro dress with coral ankle strap sandals by Aldo. The big winner of the night was Kristen Stewart who surprised in a checkered top & shorts outfits by Osman with black patent Christian Louboutins.

Which looks are your favorite from the red carpet? Are you on board the bright & colorful pattern trend? For more from Red Carpet Review, check out posts including Nikki Reed’s appearance at Justin Timberlake’s album release party, black & white looks on Amanda Seyfried & Jessica Chastain, the ladies of Oz the Great and Powerful at the film’s premieres, complete coverage of last month’s Oscars, & the red carpet from the Grammy’s. Red Carpet Review: All The Sparkle & Color From The 2012 American Music Awards!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The American Music Awards are still airing, but if you’ve missed any of the red carpet festivities, then you can check out the highs & lows here on Style Darling.  Some of my favorite performers hit the stage, including Christina Aguilera & Pink, both who made stunning statements on the red carpet in lavender & bronze, respectively.  Also, some noteable appearances were made by an Old Hollywood-inspired Carly Rae Jepsen in Gomez-Garcia, Nicki Minaj in neon Monique Lhuillier, & the always gorgeous Carrie Underwood in a purple gown by Abed Mahfouz.

Who wore your favorite looks? What was your favorite part of the show? Do you agree with the winners? For more from Red Carpet Review, check out posts including the Breaking Dawn Part Two premiere & MTV’s European Music Awards! Happy Styling!

Basics For A Bargain: Fall’s Faux Leather Forecast, Inspired by Jessica Chastain, Lucy Hale, Maria Sharapova, & More!

I’ve been on the prowl for great fall finds & one trend that keeps stopping me in my tracks is leather & it’s just not going away.  Why should it? The luxe, lush material adds an edge to a feminine blouse, contradicts a flirty skirt, makes you look like a rock star, or just helps any Style Darling stand out a little bit more.  Take it from some of our favorite celebrities, including Jessica Chastain, Kate Bosworth, Lucy Hale, Nicole Richie, Sophia Bush, Maria Sharapova, & Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

My previous post about summer leather shared looks worn by Emma Stone, Alexa Chung, & Julianne Hough, but our calendars change to fall in just a few days, so why not start looking at ways to wear leather- or faux leather in this case, that can really spruce up your current wardrobe, as well as help welcoming the season.

At the recent celebration of New York Fashion Week, we saw lots of leather in recent posts for Runway Rundown, including Spring 2013 collections by designers Jason Wu, Holmes & Yang, Oscar de la Renta, & Michael Kors. Also, there was more leather to be found hitting the runway with metallic pencil skirts from DKNY, jackets by Marc Jacobs, pleated dresses by Tracy Reese, cut-out accents from Pamella Roland, & chic tops for Helmut Lang, as seen below.

However, when it comes to affordable fashion, it’s not always easy to find leather when you’re shopping on a budget. Enter: faux leather. You can’t forget that faux leather isn’t harmful to animals & is always less expensive.  It’s so easy to find faux leather separates, jackets, & dresses these days & I couldn’t decide on just a handful of items, so brace yourself… there’s a lot to look at!

What caught my attention to start posting about all these leather trends was a recent post made by Venus that I spotted on my newsfeed on Facebook.  These looks all include faux leather items, including (from left to right) the faux leather trimmed blouse ($36.00), faux leather mini skirt ($32.00), peep toe ankle strap heel ($39.00), sweater with faux leather ($18.00), faux leather leggings ($44.00), & faux leather dress ($64.00) in black. Of course, I couldn’t just write about items from one store, so here’s some more!

I should disclaim that I do not condone wearing any of these items with other faux leather pieces. You can take that risk if you’d like, but to avoid looking like a biker chick or appearing as though in costume, I’d recommend allowing for one item to be the standout & then mix with other fabrics to create a multi-dimensional & textured look.  First, the zipped faux leather denim skirt ($19.80) comes from Forever 21 & is available in plus sizes 12-20.  Underneath, you’ll find the essential faux leather shorts ($15.80), which are perfect for fall with tights & ankle booties.  Pair either of these bottoms with a fabulous blouse, studded tee, or menswear-inspired button-down.  The a-line skirt ($39.00) from Joe Fresh is cute for bringing to life the looks worn by Selena Gomez & Nicole Richie at the top of this post.  Also, add just a hint of leather with the zip back pencil skirt with (minus the) leather ($59.90) from Express.

We all know that leggings are all the rage right now, so to find the perfect pair for this edition of Basics for a Bargain, I turned to H&M for their leggings ($24.95) in black, which are also available in white, if you dare! Break these bad boys out with a chunky oversized knit & your fiercest pointed toe pumps, or help a graphic tee look less casual & top it off with a satin blazer.

I also found the plus size tee with faux leather shoulders ($34.99 – $39.99) from Jessica London & Antonio Melani Sardinia faux-leather top ($34.65) @Dillards which pair well underneath a suit for the office, or with dark denim pieces like jeggings or a mini.  If all-over leather isn’t your thing, then the touch of texture on the shoulders helps frame your face & becomes an accessory to your look. Lastly, the faux leather strapless cocktail club dress ($54.99) in black 2 cute 2 trendy crawls near the borderline of pinup, but with asymmetric zipper details, you could be working it just like Kristen Stewart or Brooklyn Decker do when making red carpet appearances.

Which leather pieces are your favorite? Which celeb looks the best in leather? Are you a fan of real leather or would you rather wear faux leather? How would you style your leather look? Happy Styling!

Ad Madness: Pretty Little Liars’ Actresses Model For Bongo!

I should’ve known this already, but Bongo is still around! I recently spotted Pretty Little Liars actresses Lucy Hale & Ashley Benson rocking duds from the brand that is currently sold @Sears & KMart.  Aside from finding figure-friendly designs by the Kardashians @Sears, or getting your curve on with Sofia Vergara’s KMart collection, the department stores are revamping their apparel scene in a majorly stylish way! Of course, Bongo is a Juniors’-geared brand, but I’m also happy to share that they also sell plus-sized clothing, like colored denim jeggings ($16.00) up to size 22.  Not to mention, I’m loving Ashley’s sequin front tank top ($12.00$14.00) in the ad on the left!

Red Carpet Review: The 2011 Teen Choice Awards Go Glam!

At this weekend’s Teen Choice Awards, young Hollywood came out in full force style! Some of these ladies in line are going to be the next Gwyneth Paltrows, Julianne Moores, & Kate Hudsons of the red carpet.  This is evident in their choice of styling, but let’s get down to who’s wearing who!  First up is Twlight star Ashley Greene who sticks to the pencil dress trend in a color-blocked design by GivenchyZoe Saldana goes metallic in a belted Lanvin frock with shoes by the late great Alexander McQueenThe Vampire Diaires leading lady, Nina Dobrev, was probably my favorite in this figure flattering D&G dress with a Salvatore Ferragamo clutch.  Canadian singer Avril Lavigne does some shameless advertising for her brand, Abbey Dawn in a chic LBD & patterned peep toes.  However, it is a nice chang eof pace for the usual punky blonde.  The svelte star of CW’s NikitaMaggie Q, went all white in a two-piece Max Mara look with black & white pumps- very Mad Men looking, eh?

Next, Lucy Hale took a risk in this sparkling Cengiz Abazoğlu mini dress with Giuseppe Zanotti ankle strap platforms.  It-girl of the moment, Emma Stone, juggled her press tour for The Help, by showing up to the ceremony in a Christian Dior shift dress with jewelry by Irene Neuwirth.  Current In Style Makeover cover girl, Rachel Bilson, looked ultra-femme in a ruffled Chloe dress with Brian Atwood studded ankle booties.  Country crooner, Taylor Swift, channelled Marilyn Monroe in a Rafael Cennamo LWD halter & of course, donned Neil Lane diamonds & bowed silver peep toe pumps.  Last, but not least is Selena Gomez, looking all grown up in an asymmetrical Erin Fetherston minidress & strappy Brian Atwood sandals.

Which is your favorite look?  Who’s your favorite young Style Darling?  Are you loving the little white dress trend?  What’s your favorite black & white look?  For more scoop on red carpet glam, check out Red Carpet Review!  Happy Styling!
