Admit it—you’ve had a Meghan Trainor song stuck in your head at some point. I know I have! It’s for good reason too! They’re so catchy, fun, clever, & relevant! Today marks the Grammy winner’s 29th birthday & what better way to honor her talents & contributions to body positivity than by watching some of her fashionable music videos! Here are my top 10, in no particular order:
When Adele sings, talks, poses for a photo shoot, & posts on Instagram, the world stops & for good reason! ELLE knows this, which is why the 15-time Grammy winner is featured on the coveted September issue cover in all of her diva glory, beauty, & style. In the article, written by Emma Carmichael & photographed by Mario Sorrenti, Adele discusses the heartbreak behind cancelling her Las Vegas residency, being a mother to her 9-year-old son Angelo, the authenticity of her performances, her continued excitement to share her recent album 30 with audiences, & her relationship with sports agent Rich Paul.
For her show in London earlier this year, Adele recounts the audience’s response to her hit ballad “Someone Like You,” stating, “I wrote that on my own, in my little tiny flat, when I was 21…The fact that they all still remember the words and love the song, it was just incredible.” Also, the singer cherishes & still learns from the early days of her career to keep her grounded, sharing, “I remember writing 19 very, very much, and going from the studio to meet my friends at the pub. I remember getting on the Tube and going to every meeting I had, and I remember going to after-parties of my friends’ little gigs. I remember all of those things, and I remember all of the first times I did something. I remember them even when I’m doing them for the millionth time.”
Singer and actress Olivia Newton-John passed away yesterday at the age of 73. The beloved Australian star had been battling cancer on & off since the early 1990s, but her legacy will continue to brighten the lives & imaginations of audiences forever with her memorable roles as Sandy in Grease & Kira in Xanadu, along with her 26 studio albums. Aside from Olivia’s remarkable stage & big screen talents, she remains one of fashion’s most underrated & timeless icons, especially after such a long career that endured through many decades of fashion risks, frills, & hairstyles!
Whether Olivia was channeling the mod looks of the 60s, bell-bottoms & peasant dresses of the 70s, pastels & sparkle in the 80s, or tailored menswear inspiration, Olivia’s style has inspired even today’s trendsetters & entertainers. Many of Olivia’s past outfits are similar what we see now on stars like Gigi Hadid, Hailee Steinfeld, Drew Barrymore, & Keira Knightley! Take a look at the gallery below at some of Olivia’s most stylish ensembles from the red carpet, photo shoots, film stills, performances, & more:
And… who could ever forget Sandy Olsson’s blonde bob & sweet voice that transforms into Danny Zuko’s bombshell dream in Grease? What about the suggestive, 80s chart-topper “Physical” from the four-time Grammy winner? Enjoy the videos below to relive these classic tunes that cemented Olivia’s superstar status.
Usually Style Darling Daily‘s Cover Craze posts categorize stylish stars on the cover of magazines, but a new images worthy of celebration include the companion art to Beyoncé‘s Renaissance album. The staggeringly stylish collection of images goes beyond Vogue or what any music video can do in setting the tone for the 28-time Grammy winner’s seventh studio album that was produced over the course of the last three years, including during the pandemic, featuring a mix of dance, pop, funk, & techno sounds to get listeners moving!
Not only are the album’s images inspired by Beyoncé’s mature & artistic side, but according to Insider, the three-act project “pays homage to queer ball culture” & “is indebted to her late Uncle Johnny, whom she described in 2019 as ‘the most fabulous gay man I’ve ever met,'” adding, “‘He was my godmother and the first person to expose me to a lot of the music and culture that serve as inspiration for this album.'”
What do you think of Beyoncé’s album & art? Have you been listening to “Break My Soul” on repeat? What’s your favorite song on the album?
Mariah Carey has been in the news a whole lot lately, now that the Grammy-winning singer is the newest judge to join American Idol, as well as releasing her latest single, “Triumphant,” from her forthcoming fourteenth studio album. However, I thought I’d take a look back at some of my favorite videos by the New York native since she’s one of the biggest selling artists in my lifetime.
Not only do she & I share a love for Marilyn Monroe & Hello Kitty, but she’s constantly trying to show off her bombshell style, even though some attempts are very pageant-ish & don’t make the best dressed lists. When it comes to music, Mariah knows what works for her & I’d like to take a moment to celebrate her accomplishments via my favorite music videos (for their style & songs)! This list includes “We Belong Together,” “Don’t Forget About Us,” “I Still Believe,” “Heartbreaker,” & “Always Be My Baby.”
I’d also like to add that I picked “We Belong Together,” which is my all-time favorite Mariah song, also b/c I think that whoever was responsible for her hair & makeup really nailed her look with elegance & femininity. The dewy pink lips, fluffy & old school lashes, & natural overall look really make the video one of the most memorable for me, which juxtapose (yes, I used that word) the scenes when she’s wearing lingerie, a tunic mini, & princess-like wedding gown. Happy Styling!
