While I do love a tote for fun beach days & running errands, as well as a classic clutch for special occasions, my favorite kind of functional bag for the every day is a crossbody bag (obviously, see post here, here, & here). Not to mention that quilted & chain details elevate crossbody bags & that’s exactly what’s featured today!

Honestly, I can’t decide which green crossbody I love more–the Kelly green or the olive, although the olive is a perfect match for most fall looks! I’ve never been disappointed by a crossbody bag from A New Day, especially after much wear & tear on weekends, between jobs, & when I’m just momming around with the requirement that my hands be free.

Accessories Access: A Classic Crossbody for All Spring & Summer Long!

My latest obsession is a crossbody bag. I’d been using the same one on weekends for a few weeks now, but then it went & broke on me right before a recent family getaway. While I do love using the silver croc-embossed version I recently posted about here, crossbody bags seem to be popping up everywhere!

While this is somewhat smaller than what I usually like to wear, I do love the neutral metallic hue that will look great with a casual look, such as a peasant top & denim cut-offs, or a date night ensemble, like a maxi dress & cardigan. Accessories Access: Get Totin’ with Time and Tru Totes!

When it comes to summer, I always have an eye out for a cute tote bag to switch things up for the weekend or when preparing for a vacation. I don’t normally switch out my purse from season-to-season as I like to commit to an all-year-long neutral bag & then take something else special out for certain occasions. Recently, while browsing my favorite affordable style retailers for the latest in summer accessories, I discovered the Time and Tru jute pocket tote bag @Walmart for $15.00, available in six colors: multi stripe / shocking pink, natural with gold & cognac, natural with silver & vivid white, natural with black colorblock, natural with blue blitz, & natural with sunflower.

I love the idea of coordinating these with maxi dress for an outdoor movie, a blouse & cropped linen pants for a family brunch, or a printed romper & sandal flats for a day at the park. The combination of straw with the pop of color inspires me to play with hues in an unexpected way. For example, I’d love to try to yellow bag with a black dress or the cognac with a chambray & denim look.

For my first official summer as a mommy, I’m scouring the web for a go-to tote to run out the door with (along with my own purse & the diaper bag) for all outing essentials that aren’t a part of my day-to-day life. For example, a bottle of sunscreen, a picnic blanket, a travel water bottle, spare flip flops, & maybe a magazine or book. I love how this season has so many cute & playful options that capture the spirit of the summer, while also being very spacious & useful for a busy Style Darling like myself. Here are just a few examples of what’s out there & what I have my eye on!

08/05/2017 Darling of the Day: Rachel Bilson is Neutral Chic in Denim!

Contrary to popular style belief, sometimes the most fashionable looks aren’t necessarily the fanciest. I’m of the mindset that style should exist on the daily & even on my most casual of days off, I take care of myself in the best way I know how—comfortably! Still, on those days, I have things to do like see my family or prepare a dinner date night with my boyfriend, so even if I give my face a break & go makeup-free, I like to put together an easy breezy outfit (comfy top & jeans perhaps) with unexpected twists (usually in the form of accessories).

Actress Rachel Bilson is showing her casual style with a combination of no-fuss neutrals with denim, heather gray, tan, black & silver during a sunny afternoon in Beverly Hills. Typically, one might not think these colors work together, but the Nashville / former Hart of Dixie / The O.C. it-girl knows how to style even the simplest seeming looks, especially with Old Navy’s $40 Rockstar skinny jeans!
