Ad Madness: Chloe Grace Moretz for Aéropostale!

Actress Chloe Grace Moretz is leading the next generation in Style Darlings.  The Hugo actress, along with stars like Hailee Steinfeld & Elle Fanning, are on the rise on the red carpet, showing teenagers everywhere their classic, age-appropriate glamour.  However, the Georgia native has seven films currently in pre-production which are slated to keep her busy for the next three years, including a remake as the titular Carrie alongside veteran actress & fashion risk-taker, Julianne Moore.

Check out Chloe in her latest venture, which is a cute & fun ad campaign for Aéropostale.  Also included with the ad, which you can find in magazines like the August 2012 issue of People Style Watch, is a coupon for $20.00 on any pair of jeans.  The brand’s jeans typically cost up to $39.50, which makes this a spectacular 50% off deal! Cover Craze: Single Lady Katie Holmes Sizzles on Elle!

The gossip columns were on overload this past week when actress Katie Holmes announced to the public that she was divorcing husband of five years, Tom Cruise.  However, it’s clear that the world is on Katie’s side, especially since she looks better than ever on the August 2012 cover of Elle & isn’t letting anyone or anything get in the way of her independence. 

That’s to Facebook updates, I learned that the Dawson’s Creek star even made an appearance as a guest judge during a taping last week for the latest season of Project Runway: All Stars. I haven’t received my issue of this magazine yet, but when I saw these images circulating online- clad with blunt bangs, menswear-inspiration, & the long-missed glitz & glamour that the star hasn’t revealed in a long time- I knew I had to share them with readers.  What do you think of this next chapter for Katie? I just bought this summer-friendly white a-line skirt with side button @Target ($11.48 on clearance- $22.99 online). I’m so excited about it & trying to get inspired on how I can mix it up with other fun pieces. It really pays off to shop those sale racks! Michael Kors is one of the most celebrated America designers, famously worn by celebrities like Blake Lively, Jennifer Lopez, & Mary J. Blige.  With this, I’ve decided to add his Resort 2013 Collection to the arsenal of galleries that I’ve recently posted in Runway Rundown.  With details like gold lace, vintage-inspired swimsuits, & printed maxi dresses, this is probably one of my favorite collections of the season, which the designer describes as “opulent minimalism.” Happy Styling!

Ad Madness: Blake Lively Is Beautiful For Gucci Premiere’s Fragrance Ad!

Blake Lively is everywhere! With the premiere of Savages, the Oliver Stone-directed action drama, as well as her latest campaign for the fragrance, Gucci Premiere.  The bombshell shows off her Old Hollywood glamour with Veronica Lake-like waves, a long-sleeved embellished evening gown, & open back.  The former Chanel-spokesmodel is high in-demand, especially since it’s been announced that this coming fall will see the farewell season of Gossip Girl. 

In addition, a short film about the fragrance is set to premiere at the Venice Film Festival on September 1st, directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, starring Blake. Do you think the California-born actress is overexposed or do you want to see more of her? Happy Styling!

I recently posted about Balenciaga‘s latest ad campaign featuring their newest ambassador, Kristen Stewart, for their fragrance, Florabotanica, almost completely forgetting about their fabulous Resort 2013 Collection.  I was able to snag the images from Elle, so that I can share them with readers, especially since I’ve been getting so much traffic for the galleries of Salvatore Ferragamo, Rachel Zoe, & Herve Leger by Max Azria in Runway Rundown.

Red Carpet Review: Beyoncé’s Bold Style & More From The BET Awards!

The second I saw Beyoncé in this gorgeous belted lemon Stephane Rolland gown, I knew I had to feature it.  She was by far the best dressed at this week’s BET Awards, stealing the spotlight from every other stylish celebrity that his the red carpet.  Of course, props should also go to Mariah Carey, Monica,  & Kerry Washington who range in classic glamour, sassy menswear-inspiration, & sexy separates.  Check out the gallery to see who wore what & share your comments if Beyoncé was also your favorite of the night! Ad Madness: Kristen Stewart Is The Face of Balenciaga’s First Fragrance, ‘Florabotanica!’

Actress Kristen Stewart, a self-proclaimed tomboy, has reluctantly given in to the world of fashion, as a result of her star status.  Her red carpet style as of late has been hitting all the right notes, especially since she’s had a little help from Balenciaga.  After becoming an ambassador for the brand back in January, the star of The Twilight Saga was named the face of their first ever fragrance, Florabontanica. 

In a recent interview with WWD, Kristen reveals that she’s never worn perfume until the project with Balenciaga was presented to her.  In addition, she adds “I’m very lucky that I like the fragrance, because I would have done anything with [Balenciaga designer Nicolas Ghesquiere]… and I’m a terrible liar… There is something natural about it. It’s very alive. I think that as a young person wearing it – considering that I’ve never worn a scent – it kind of puts you on this level of, like, ‘Whoa, check me out.'”

Typically, when you see ads for fragrances, spokesmodels are all about skin, showing lots of it & selling sex.  Here, Stewart represents a younger, cooler generation, vibrant with color, rock glamour, & excitement.

Silver Screen Style / Watch This Style: Keira Knightley’s ‘Anna Karenina Trailer & Banana Republic-Inspired Collection!

It’s not a secret that Oscar-nominated actress Keira Knightley is fond of making period pieces, especially with director, Joe Wright (Atonement).  However, when the news came out that the British siren was going to star in a remake of Leo Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina, I was super excited since the novel is one of my favorites of all time.  I’ve been following the production of this film on Movie Buzzers, covering all the casting news & now, not only has the official trailer hit the web, but costume designer Jacqueline Durran has told WWD that she is creating a collection inspired by the film for Banana Republic.

What’s curious about this collaboration is that the classic Russian drama is set in the late 19th century, however the BR line will feature a ’50s feel with a historic twist on blouses, coats, furs, jewelry, & accessories, ranging in price from $29.50 to $250.00.  Durran describes her vision for the film & capsule collection as “a once in a lifetime experience. I was given the chance to apply my passion for period styles to a collection that translates to fashion today.” The line is set to debut in stores in October & audiences can revel in the fashionable film when it hits theaters November 2nd.

Watch This Style: Kylie & Kendall Jenner Share Closet Time With Oprah!

The 17 & 15 year-old sisters of the Kardashians, Kylie & Kendall Jenner, have recently spoken with the one & only, Oprah Winfrey, about their rise to fame as reality stars & models, epitomizing the all-American girls who can have it all.  In this barely two-minute clip, we get a glimpse of the teens’ closets, featuring platforms by none other than Christian Louboutin.

I wouldn’t normally post a video like this, but I think that these girls are on the rise, just like older sisters Kourtney, Kim, & Khloe, certainly bringing more attention to the brand that is the Kardashian family.  If you have a couple of minutes to spare, have a click & Happy Styling!

Runway Rundown: Jennifer Hudson’s New QVC Collection!

Starting September 6th, Oscar-Grammy-winner Jennifer Hudson will be debuting her very first eponymous collection for QVC, featuring elegant dresses, flowy tops, slimming leggings, & jackets.  Courtesy of In Style, Style Darling is sharing a sneak peek at the collection that’s priced under $170.  The American Idol alum told the magazine, “I wanted to focus on being comfortable, but being cute at the same time. I was [inspired by] Michael Kors, because I feel that he focuses on the ‘real woman,’ you know? Every curve.“

The actress / singer is definitely keeping busy, launching this line, while also joining the cast of Smash for its second season this fall. Take a look at the collection & mark your calendar’s for the line’s QVC debut! Happy Styling!

Jenni Kayne isn’t a designer that I talk about a lot, but when I saw these images for her Resort 2013 Collection, I was super excited, as always, to share them with readers.  I think the style is preppy, but still minimalist in a fashion-forward way.  Celebs like Chloe Sevigny or Alexa Chung are likely to take pieces from this collection & incorporate them into their own style.  Not to mention that baring your midriff is all the rage right now & if you’re away on vacation & have the abs to pull of some of these looks, then go for it!

Watch This Style: Daria Werbowy & Betty Boop Campaign For Lancôme’s New Mascara!

When it comes to style, two cartoon characters always come to mind.  I have no shame in saying that I’m crazy for Hello Kitty- I mean, she’s almost always wearing a coordinating bow with her outfit! Who wouldn’t love that?? Also, Betty Boop is high up on my fabulous list & I was delighted to find that the legendary character is starring alongside Canadian model Daria Werbowy for Lancôme‘s new Hypnôse Star Mascara, which retails for about $26.00.  The beauties are batting their lashes in the ad, but you can watch this behind-the-scenes video, courtesy of FashionEtc, featuring interviews with the model in a glamorous black sequin dress.

Cover Craze: Emma Stone Makes Her Vogue Cover Debut!

I’m always a big fan of reading Vogue, the epicenter of fashion when it comes to periodicals, but I don’t very often post about their spreads, even though they’re always super gorgeous.  However, the July issue of the magazine has caught my eye & I can’t get it off my mind.  It-girl Emma Stone makes her debut on the cover, showing off her sultry screen siren side, versus a Mad Hatter-inspired playful menswear look, wearing duds by famous names like Jil Sander, Ralph Lauren, Prada, Versus, Dries Van Noten, & Givenchy by Riccardo Tischi, just to name a few.

The now blonde-tressed actress is in high demand, making the red carpet rounds while promoting The Amazing Spider-Man, opposite rumored beau Andrew Garfield.  Surely, Stone’s red carpet looks are jaw-dropping, but I still can’t get over how the fair-skinned funny girl has transformed into a Style Darling on the rise in the pages of the magazine.

I’ve been very serious lately about my Runway Rundown posts, featuring all the latest designs debuting on the catwalk & one that I was especially excited to see was the Resort 2013 collection by Derek Lam.  I found a link to Elle that showed me the proportionally creative line, featuring separates that are likely to be seen on stars like Angelina Jolie, Alexa Chung, or Emma Stone this season.  While some of it is meant to thrive on the runway, there are plenty of opportunities for inspiration here, especially mixing prints in your own wardrobe.  Also, playing with structure & menswear inspiration is always a fun way to reinterpret old favorites.  Click through the gallery & share which looks make your wishlist! Quickie Darling Deal & Steal: My Favorite New Wedges!

I know I last posted about an amazing deal on Christian Siriano shoes from Payless, but this Father’s Day weekend, I happened to be at my local Payless store when I came across these Mallory wood wedge sandal ($16.99).  I tried them on just for fun, but fell in love right away.  They were different than any other wedge that I had & for once, I actually loved the combination of the thick straps & the multiple thin straps.  Of course, I have no idea what to wear them with (for the moment), but I scrambled through my emails on my iPhone to find the 20% off coupon code.  The box showed a marked down price of $24.99 from its original $29.99, but was I gleeful when they rang up for $16.99.  After my coupon, these wedges came out to an impressive $14 & change.  I’m saving them for one very special day, but I’ll be sure to post pics since these shoes are just too good to be true! Runway Rundown: Salvatore Ferragamo Debuts Resort / Ready-To-Wear Collection At The Louvre!

Salvatore Ferragamo is by far one of the most iconic designers, having made shoes for the likes of Sophia Loren, Judy Garland, Audrey Hepburn, & Marilyn Monroe.  Talk about a client list! Well, recently the brand famous for its shoes & accessories have expanded with a stunning resort / ready-to-wear collection that was shown at… of all places… The Louvre!

Gossip Girl‘s Leighton Meester, Indian actress Freida Pinto, & double Oscar winner Hilary Swank sat first row to celebrate the festivities for a show that was beyond gorgeous.  Never has resort-wear looked so accessible for everyday use.  Of course, the price tag on these items is astronomical, but I’m always the first to say that fashion at any price point deserves appreciation.  You can never go wrong with Ferragamo too!

Quickie Darling Deal & Steal: ModCloth Can Take You To Paris (With A Necklace)!

I’ve been spending a lot of time lately scoping out other bloggers, getting to know them, getting inspired, getting to learn more abot how I can improve Style Darling. In my time clicking & clicking, I’ve been noticing a trend of statement necklaces (it’s not like I’m just figuring this out) that I can’t stop thinking about.  Of course, I’ve mentioned countless times that my budget is so super tight, it’s practically suffocating, but there’s no harm in looking.  While searching on ModCloth, one of my favorite vintage-inspired sites, I found the Cities Oui Love Necklace ($29.99).  This unique piece brings the luxury of the Parisian skyline right to your wardrobe.

We all love a fun graphic tee, splashed with some grafitti-inspired French saying, but in blending the always fashionable amour of France with the trend of a statement necklace makes for the perfect balance of experimentation & forward thinking.  Let this hang over a silk camisole & skinny jeans, or turn some heads by pairing it with an all-white sheath dress.  The black will stand out & you’ll be called a modern day Audrey Hepburn.

Couresty of ELLE, I’m happy to share some of the runway images of Carlos Miele‘s 2013 resort collection.  After seeing these beyond beautiful designs, Miele has instantly become one of my top 5 designers.  I love the elegant lines, delicate pleating, decadent colors, splashes of metallic, & effortless ease of these truly artful garments.  These can easily be seen on the stars of this summer’s blockbusters & most-anticipated films like Emma Stone (The Amazing Spiderman), Anne Hathaway (The Dark Knight Rises), Keira Knightley (Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World), Elizabeth Banks (People Like Us), & Michelle Williams (Take This Waltz).
