The line includes a smoldering combination of the label’s classic tweeds, statement belts, muted color palette, & gorgeous chunky outerwear essentials. There are plenty of fabulous looks here that will certainly hit upcoming red carpets on Chanel regulars like Diane Kruger, Blake Lively, Kristen Stewart, Rachel Bilson, & Elizabeth Olsen.

Young American designer Jenni Kayne always steps it up when her designs hit the runway & her latest Resort 2014 Collection is no exception. With strategic transparent paneling, that famous bralette top, chunky chain necklaces, & sleek leather pieces, this line is sure to attract daring celebs like Solange Knowles, Rihanna, & Rita Ora, as well as invite for some risk-taking on the red carpet. There’s a modern blend of minimalism & menswear at work here, covering a spectrum of styles including cocktail, sportswear, tribal, & classic. The brief, yet elegant line includes 15 memorable looks that I hope to see in action in the pages of my favorite fashion magazines.

While adding to my galleries of Resort 2014 Collections, I’m happy to share the latest images from Lela Rose, which remind me the delicate femininity of the 1960s, á la Mad Men. I love every piece of this line, especially the dresses with cinched in wastes & tea-length hemlines. I can see so many of these looks on all the most wanted celebrities of today, including Jessica Chastain, Lea Michele, Zooey Deschanel, Katy Perry, & Emma Watson. In the absence of Marchesa this season, I’ll take any look by Lela Rose to fill the glamour gap.

Which look is your favorite from the collection? Have you been following the Resort 2014 lines? Which designer so you think is the standout for the season? Basics For A Bargain: Leather Has Never Looked Better, Inspired By Mandy Moore, Sandra Bullock, Heidi Klum, & More!

Leather really had never looked better! Each summer I’m surprised to see many looks worn by celebrities with leather, as well as dresses that have recently hit the runway. Of course, most of these runway looks are for the upcoming fall / resort seasons, but playing the game of fashion always means that you’re looking ahead with your wardrobe. For example, here we have leather dresses that offer texture, femininity, elegance, & modernism from Barbara Bui Pre-Fall 2013, Alice + Olivia Fall 2013 Ready-To-Wear, Tibi Pre-Fall 2013, & 10 Crosby by Derek Lam Pre-Fall 2013.

Alice + Olivia, Tibi, Barbara Bui, 10 Crosby by Derek Lam.This also makes me think of recent red carpet appearances by some of my favorite celebrities who’ve worn leather dresses, including Naomi Watts in a leather dress by Alexander McQueen with jewelry by Jennifer Meyer at the Los Angeles premiere of Ray Donovan. Also, my girl crush, Mandy Moore, attended a Helmut Newton event in a leather LBD with gold jewelry & sexy ankle-strap heels. Byzantium actress Gemma Arterton showed off her shape in a curve-hugging letaher dress with 3/4 sleeves, black pointy toe pumps, & a metallic clutch at the film’s screening in London. Scandal star Kerry Washington walks the red carpet at an ABC event in a red Marc by Marc Jacobs leather sheath dress with black & gold accessories, including House of Lavande studs.

Naomi Watts, Mandy Moore, Gemma Arterton, & Kerry Washington.Shopping for leather, or faux leather in this case, dresses is tricky sometimes b/c you always want to make sure that it fits you properly & doesn’t require an abundance of care or cleaning. I found these chic options that are both timeless & edgy to mix & match with accessories like pointy toe pumps, platform sandals, a metallic clutch, or drop earrings. First, I selected the BB Dakota Kira perforated dress ($68.00) from ShopBop, which definitely plays up the lasercut trend with playful peek-a-boo holes. Also, I found the Sanctuary Clothing faux leather shift dress ($55.65) from Dillard’s. It’s especailly flattering with strategic colorblocked panels.

leather dressesMy third pick is from Forever 21, the studded faux leather dress ($27.80) is the most affordable, & also offers plenty of styling possibilities with a boyfriend blazer, cropped bolero, metallic belt, or suede knee boots. For a change of color, the Anne Klein faux leather dress ($42.99) from 6PM brings a gritty edge to any office look, especially if paired with strappy sandals or printed pumps.

When it comes to leather, we’ve also seen a great deal of separates, especially in the form of skirts & leggings, which always cause a stir on the runway. The mixture of the tough material in sophisticated silhouettes makes for a memorable show, especially with skirts of varying lengths for a date night, the office, or an instant update to other basics. I found trendy leather separates in collections from SUNO Resort 2014, L.A.M.B. by Gwen Stefani Fall 2013 Ready-To-Wear, Altuzarra Fall 2013 Ready-To-Wear, & Michael Kors Pre-Fall 2013.

Suno, L.A.M.B. by Gwen Stefani, Altuzarra, & Michael Kors.Celebrities continue to once again mirror the runways when on the street or red carpet with leather pieces to accent this look. Sandra Bullock heated up the premiere of The Heat in an affordable leather pencil skirt from ASOS with a button-down blouse & strappy leather sandals. Rashida Jones was all smiles in a striped top with a cobalt blue leather mini skirt, which she accessorized with a statement pendant, colorful clutch, & towering platform sandals. Project Runway judge / supermodel Heidi Klum looks every bit the style icon in a head-to-toe midnight blue look, including a zippered pencil skirt, blouse, pumps, & snakeskin bag. Lastly, the always effortless Zoe Saldana attends a Chime for Change event in a Gucci floral blouse with leather leggings, jewlery by Repossi, & strappy sandals.

Sandra Bullock, Rashida Jones, Heidi Klum, & Zoe Saldana. As for wearing leather bottoms, you have a chic choice of skirts or leggings. Of course, there are shorts out there, as well as cropped trousers, but here I’m focusing on recreating skirts & leggings as seen by the celebrities above. This starts with the Rhyme Los Angeles perforated vegan leather skirt ($46.99) from Piperlime, which not only serves the environment, but also offers an upgrade to your professional office look. Also, for a pop of color, I love the Glamorous PU patent faux leather mini skirt ($42.43) in wine from ASOS, which adds a futuristic vibe to any button-down shirt, studded tank, or scoop neck pullover.

leather separatesFor a flirtier look, BonTon‘s Blu Pepper lasercut faux leather skirt ($47.20) will instantly make a silk blouse & fishnets look like you’ve just stepped off the runways of Paris. Lastly, these faux leather zip leggings ($13.80) from Forever 21 are perfect for pairing with a printed tunic top, knit oversized sweater, & sequin mini dress.

Would you wear leather this summer? Which is your favorite leather look? Do you experiment with leather in different colors? This isn’t the first time I’ve featured leather looks on Style Darling, so if you’d like to read more to catch all the trends, check out previous posts including inspiration from Jessica Chastain & Lucy Hale, red carpet looks from Julianne Hough & Zoe Kravitz, & leather pant looks on Gwyneth Paltrow & Fergie! For more posts from Basics for a Bargain, check out little white dresses as seen on Jennifer Lopez & Angelina Jolie, luxury leopard & metallic flip flops, floral favorites on Dianna Agron & Selena Gomez, striped maxi skirts from Vince Camuto & BCBG Max Azria, & peplum looks inspired by Amy Adams & Cate Blanchett! Runway Rundown: Hervé Léger by Max Azria’s Resort 2014 Collection!

We’ve seen so many trends in the new Resort 2014 Collections, including floral details, lace & feminine accents, glitz & glam, menswear inspiration, & classic American minimalism. However, the latest from Hervé Léger by Max Azria shows a futuristic approach to its signature figure-flattering lines for both swimwear & sexy dresses. There’s a toughness in the line that makes me think of a blend of bondage with utilitarian post-modernism, which I especially love in pastels like chartreuse, stone, & blush. Also, there are plenty of current graphic designs that combine elegance with risk-taking fashion, perfect for celebrities like tennis beauty Maria Sharapova, Glee actress Naya Rivera, Newsroom star Olivia Munn, supermodel Gisele Bundchen, TV personality Kelly Ripa, & Bond girl Olga Kurylenko.

Runway Rundown: Bottega Veneta’s Resort 2014 Collection!

Structure is no stranger to the runway, especially with the latest Resort 2014 Collection from Italian designer Bottega Veneta. I love the unconventional, yet modern looks in this collection, including the always stylish combination of menswear with brogues combined with sheath dresses & flouncy skirts. The graphic patterns are refreshing after seeing so much floral all over the place, as well as the solid black pieces & crochet tops. The line is aggressive, yet sophisticated, calling on celebrities like Diane Kruger, Chloe Sevigny, Emma Watson, & Leighton Meester to experiment with on the red carpet.

Runway Rundown: Burberry Prorsum’s Resort 2014 Collection!

I could never sum my style up in one word; however among its description, the word “preppy” would definitely be there, especially since I’m a sucker for a cream cable knit sweater. While flipping through the throngs of Resort 2014 Collection galleries, I was taken with the latest runway looks from Burberry Prorsum, the epitome of preppy glamour for the modern jet-setting woman. This collection certainly helps transition our summer favorites into fall with touches of femininity in metallic brocade, as well as pastel separates in green & lavender. I can’t wait to mix up my figure-flattering pencil skirts with heavier knits, while also channeling a bit of menswear inspiration in shirts & outerwear. I love the idea of mixing anything military-esque details with softer, more luxurious basics like a sweater dress or textured jacket.

Which pieces are your favorite from this collection? Which lines are inspiring your latest wardrobe updates? For more from Runway Rundown, check out previous posts including Chanel, Rachel Zoe Collection, Christian Dior, Gucci, Tory Burch, Alice + Olivia, Erin Fetherston, Stella McCartney, & Christian Siriano. Runway Rundown: Stella McCartney’s Resort 2014 Collection!

Stella McCartney is always one of those in-demand luxury labels, especially by celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow, Rihanna, Kate Hudson, Cameron Diaz, & Anne Hathaway! When I came across these amazing photos for McCartney’s latest Resort 2014 Collection, I loved the luxe, edgy feminine feel of the floral prints with emphasized metallic zippers, as well as splashes of animal-inspiration & youthful hearts. Not to mention that she’s seriously bringing back the blotted lipstick look, which is perfect for her younger fans like Emma Stone, Jennifer Lawrence, & Hailee Steinfeld.

Runway Rundown: Christian Dior’s Resort 2014 Collection!

When I think of luxury designers, Christian Dior always comes to mind first, especially since I’m constantly reminded of the brand’s unforgettable designs worn by some of the most famous celebrities like spokes models Marion Cotillard, Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lawrence, as well as red carpet A-listers like model / actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, four-time Oscar-nominee Julianne Moore, & The Great Gatsby‘s Carey Mulligan.

In the latest Resort 2014 Collection, there are plenty of sleek, feminine details in the line, including nipped waistlines, pops of colorblocking, modern menswear cuts, & flowy hemlines. The hefty 58-image gallery below shares the entire collection, & some of my favorite pieces include the separates which can dress up a pair of jeans, skinny pants, or leather shorts. Also, I love the idea of jackets too, which make for perfect toppers to any vacation, office, date night, & casual look.

I’ve been keeping an eye out for the latest & most glamorous Resort 2014 Collections. I’m most impressed with what designer Erin Fetherston has revealed, especially since she’s co-starring in the collection, which further proves that designers should design what they want to wear. I love the delicate, feminine details of lace paneling, as well as sweet cut-outs & sweetheart necklines. With Grecian-inspired draping & mod silhouettes, this line has virtually everything for any kind of Style Darling, including pretty prints & pops of aqua & red.

Which looks are your favorite? Which designers have you been watching? For more from Runway Rundown, check out previous posts including Alice + Olivia, Christian Siriano, Rachel Zoe Collection, & Tory Burch! Happy Styling!

Runway Rundown: Alice + Olivia’s Resort 2014 Collection!

There are just so many resort collections to cover & only one Style Darling to do the job, however one of my personal favorites of the season is the latest Alice + Olivia Resort 2014 Collection, which features plenty of youthful, yet sophisticated separates & dresses that are red carpet-ready & perfect for upcoming magazine editorials. The line includes feminine details like lace, bows, A-line skirts, floral prints, & fun colorblocking schemes which are sure to attract the likes of Taylor Swift, Diane Kruger, Emmy Rossum, Kerry Washington, & Zoe Saldana.

I love these designs by Stacey Bendet, which seem to be inspired by the fun & flirty nature behind the Betsey Johnson legacy, with a mix of preppy Michael Kors in there too. I’ve been watching a lot of Johnson’s reality show XOX Betsey Johnson on the Style Network, finding her efforts to rebuild her brand pretty inspiring myself. Let’s hope that color is here to stay, even as we’re still delving into summer with fall trends quickly on their way.

Runway Rundown: Christian Siriano’s Resort 2014 Collection!

It’s not secret that I, along with the (practically) rest of the fashion world, am a fan of the most successful Project Runway winning designer, Christian Siriano. To add to the plethora of posts dedicated to the flamboyant fashionista, I wanted to share his stripe-happy, colorblocked Resort 2014 Collection, which seems to have derived inspiration from previous collections from Louis Vuitton, Michael Kors, & Oscar de la Renta. However, Siriano puts his own spin on these brights with contrasting black or black & white pieces that add a demure sensibility to his youthful audience. Also, details like reinvented chevron stripes & feathers make this one luxury line to watch out for on upcoming movie premiere red carpets!

Runway Rundown: The Resort 2014 Collection From Rachel Zoe!

What’s a spring-summer without indulging in one of my favorite fashion-related reality shows, The Rachel Zoe Project? The answer is: kind of bananas, but at least we all can take a second to enjoy what Rachel Zoe has cooked up for her Resort 2014 Collection. The stylist / designer keeps her signature 1970s inspiration, but this time offers a stylish flair of eased preppiness mixed with an elegant sporty vibe. These separates are perfect for mixing & matching with other amazing designer pieces like  Gucci, Tory Burch, or even Chanel, especially if you’re headed somewhere fabulous to celebrate these warmer months.

Which are your favorite runway looks from this line? Which designer collections are you keeping an eye out for during the Resort 2014 season? Now that the weather has turned here on Long Island very quickly from spring to summer, I’ve been thinking about the latest trends for summer, as well as what to wear for my upcoming vacation. One designer has also been on my mind & that’s Tory Burch. Her latest Resort 2014 Collection includes all things feminine, exotic, & all-American classic. If you’re headed to the Hamptons, there are plenty of cool tribal separates to wear with your favorite whites & chambray pieces. Or, if you’re itching for something chic, then try the pretty florals & preppy necklines for a day of wine-tasting.

If you’ve been following anything about the latest Resort 2014 collections, then you’re probably inspired to pack your bags & book a vacation. There are plenty of chic trends going on with Gucci‘s latest runway looks, including 70s-inspired silhouettes with plenty of loose-fitting separates, sheer materials with playful polka dot patterns, & lots of pajama-like layers to create a luxe menswear ensemble when you travel. Also, I love the various prints like said polka dots, as well as hints of paisley in mustard & berry, drop waistlines on maxi dresses, & shimmering finishes on the simplest of shift frocks.

It’s resort season & Chanel has shared its 2014 collection! Full with a runway of nautical stripes, Gatsby-inspired strands of pearls, menswear separates, & plenty of black chiffon for the next major red carpet event. Karl Lagerfeld has certainly outdone himself once again, honoring the legendary of Coco Chanel herself, especially with regal touches like striped ties, cropped jackets, & lace overlay.

We all know Kate Spade as a prim & proper feminine brand, featuring classic silhouettes to accent a woman’s shape with sophisticated & timeless patterns & color palette. However, this spring saw the debut of Kate Spade Saturday, a more masculine & edgy collection, featuring tomboy-inspired chic separates, perfect for a modern Style Darling, looking to mix up her look. While we’re in the midst of spring fashion, looking forward to summer details, we already have a sneak peek at the fall collection for Kate Spade Saturday. The line includes dark colors with a 70s & 80s vibe in separates like leather pieces, chunky knits, thick belts, & funky patterns.

Runway Rundown: Project Runway Winner Dmitry Sholokhov’s Debut Collection for Lord & Taylor!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Project Runway & was very happy with last season’s win for Dmitry Sholokhov, so when I found out that his debut collection hit the New York flagship store of Lord & Taylor, I was super excited to see the final product of all of his hard work. The line is full of the designer’s signature lines of structure, as well as feminine details like an above-the-knee hemline, waist-cinching silhouettes, delicate bows, modern cut-outs, & flirty lace.

Sholokhov recently shared with InStyle, “I received such an amazing response from my fans while on ‘Project Runway,’ and a million questions from different people about when and where they would be able to buy one of my designs… I tried to focus on every woman & every type of style… It’s my belief that each of my dresses offers something for everyone. My woman can be so different—she can be classy & chic, frivolous & young, sophisticated & elegant. She is happy with herself, ageless, always busy & full of energy.

While the collection ranges in price from $259.00 – $329.00, we can hope that the expected success of such a well-received Project Runway winner can translate into a future collection for mainstream shoppers at Target or Kohl’s. Do you like the collection? Do you like Sholokhov deserved to win? Which is your favorite Project Runway season? Happy Styling!

Runway Rundown: Derek Lam’s DesigNation Collection For Kohl’s!

Kohl’s is quickly becoming one of the leading retailers for designer duds at an affordable price. I’ve previously shared collections from Jennifer Lopez, Narciso Rodriguez, & Lauren Conrad, & have even included the fashionable pieces from Simply Vera Vera Wang. However, the latest DesigNation collection is from Derek Lam, which hit stores this week, with Brazil-inspired color combinations, tropical prints, & a “jungle-meets-city feel,” according to InStyle.

Celebs like Emmy Rossum, Blake Lively, & Kate Bosworth have already been spotted in the trendy looks from the designer’s collection, which is likely to go on sale at an even better price! These summer-ready pieces are perfect if you’re headed on vacation, or looking to pair your current essentials with fresh, edgy new additions. What do you think of the collection? How would you style the separates? Happy Styling!

Watch This Style: Lena Dunham Directs A Short Film For Designer Rachel Antonoff!

Everything that Girls creator-writer-director-star Lena Dunham touches turns to gold & in the wake of the HBO series’ second season, the absence of girl-power has been temporarily filled with a new video for designer Rachel Antonoff. Lena directs the short film, “Best Friends,” which stars her sister, Grace, & writer Alice Gregory, under the narration of Brit-accented Girls actor, Adam Driver. The on-screen story follows Grace & Alice who are best friends through everything, including their Rachel Antonoff-designed outfits for her latest fall 2013 collection.

Basics For A Bargain: It’s Finally Spring & Finally Time For Florals!

There’s still a chill in the air here in New York, but it’s finally starting to look like spring. There’s change in the air & I know I’m really excited about it- & not just for my change in wardrobe. However, speaking of spring fashions, the go-to print of the season is florals & I couldn’t turn my back the trend, especially when I’ve been seeing it everywhere! For example, A-list celebs have been wearing florals even during the winter, ushering in the warmer season. Miranda Kerr is all smiles in a floral skirt with a leather Prada tote while taking in the day in Sydney. Elizabeth Olsen mixed her floral top with a mustard coat & skinny jeans. Actress Diane Kruger attended a press event for Farewell, My Queen in a 10 Crosby Derek Lam ensemble.

Miranda Kerr, Elizabeth Olsen, Diane Kruger, Selena Gomez, Jessica Chastain, & Dianna Agron.

Superstar Selena Gomez hit the SXSW Festival in a matching bustier & skirt by Dolce & Gabbana. Two-time Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain wears an Erdem sheath dress with nude Christian Louboutins. Lastly, former Glee star Dianna Agron attended a luncheon with The Hollywood Reporter in an Oday Shakar floral dress with suede Jimmy Choo heels.

Not to mention that there have been plenty of florals hitting the runways this year, including luxe vintage from Valentino, 80s-inspired rocker chic designs from Betsey Johnson, youthful & bright patterns from Tracy Reese, Lanvin‘s elegant & sophistication, & Erdem‘s playful & refreshing angle on flowers.

Valentino, Betsey Johnson, Tracy Reese, Lanvin, & Erdem.

Whether it’s on clothing, accessories, or mixed & match (which I only recommend doing with caution), I made a few selections from some of my favorite stores to share how you can wear the latest floral pieces on a budget! The best piece to start building the perfect spring wardrobe is a dress, like the Merona sleeveless tulip wrap dress ($19.00) from Target, which has recently been marked down from its original $24.99 price. The flattering wrap shape is perfect for accentuating your shape & the navy background adds a regal touch is paired with basketweave espadrilles or bright ballet flats. Next is the LC Lauren Conrad floral ruffle tank ($25.20) from Kohl’s, which is a feminine topper piece to wear with dark denim jeans, white skinny pants, or a denim skirt.

Don’t be afraid of florals on your bottom half, especially with the 4 1/2″ belted printed flat front shorts ($32.94) from Express, which add some tropical flair to your look & will dress down a lace blouse. I love the idea of sequins with florals & this skirt ($34.95) from H&M is a stylish marriage of both. This will pair nicely with a chambray button down shirt for a fashionable day out & about or with a solid pullover & pointy toe pumps for a date. Lastly, floral pants are also one of the biggest trends this season, especially in a looser cut to provide plenty of flow & movement, which is why I choose the Full Tilt skinny harem pants ($24.99) from Tilly’s. The chic black, gray, & white color combination is understated & can be coordinated with pastel pieces like coral or mint.

As for accessories, these bright colors will make your outfit pop, especially since they’re so effortless to match with wardrobe essentials. For example, the sequin tulip print pumps ($27.80) from Forever 21 are flirty & will add extra dimension to cuffed jeans & a ruffled top. Also, for a more subtle floral shoe, the novelty ballet flats ($39.95) from Gap. The soft pink & red tones in the shoe can offset any striped tee & jeans look in a ladylike way.

Part of what I love about spring is that I can still wear scarves, which can bring a lot to a look, like the ground floral scarf ($14.99) from Payless for a denim jacket & LBD with ankle strap platforms or a maxi dress & cargo vest with gladiator flats. Lastly, I’m not really a hat kind of girl, but in some cases, you need to protect your face from the harsh rays of the sun, especially this early in the season, which is why I picked the pop floral baseball cap ($8.99) from Charlotte Russe.

Runway Rundown: Michelle Franklin’s Winning Look From Last Night’s Project Runway!

To be completely honest, I haven’t loved this season of Project Runway like previous past seasons- perhaps its the constant struggle within the team dynamic. However, last night’s episode really got my attention as the designers were challenged to create a spring ready-to-wear look, inspired by the Lord & Taylor iconic American Beauty rose.

Project Runway. Lord & Taylor - JS Collections chartreuse shift dress $259.00. Michelle Franklin.

The winning look went to Michelle Franklin, which has been mass produced for sale in stores & online. What I love about the JS Collections chartreuse shift dress ($259.00) is the combination of neon silk with soft, yet unexpected details in the slate leather trim. This dress is so appropriate for this Spring 2013 season & it’s already selling out online! Only available in sizes 8-14, this is perfect to wear with strappy sandals on a day date, under a chic boyfriend blazer with pumps when headed for a fashionable meeting, or with ballet flats & stacked bangles for a sweet, mod look.

To check out the entire runway from the episode, head over to My Lifetime to see the other contenders. Who is your favorite designer this season? Do you agree with the judges’ choice on the winning look? Watch This Style / Runway Rundown: Gucci’s Spring / Summer Collection & Ad Campaign Video!

Gucci Spring Summer 2013

It feels like spring is just around the corner, especially here in New York where we’ve been seeing plenty of sunny days, but snowy & chilly nights. However, it inspire some spring fashion fun, I wanted to share the latest videos that I found from Gucci, including the Spring / Summer 2013 runway show, as well as the ad campaign video showing off plenty of bright colors & whimsical style. There’s a mod 60s influence with hints of oversized sleeves, loose-fitting leglines, & bursts of berry, crimson, banana, & cobalt, crisp white, & teal.

Runway Rundown: The Entire Kate Young For Target Lookbook!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The fashion world has been buzzing stylist Kate Young & her upcoming collection collaboration with Target, & I even featured the news in my latest post for Haute Headlines. Young is responsible for the praised red carpet looks worn by top celebs like the always dazzling Michelle Williams (especially during her press tour for Oz the Great and Powerful) & Oscar-winner Natalie Portman. In addition, Young was named the most powerful stylist by The Hollywood Reporter last year, although her place dropped to fourth this year. Big names have seen lots of success in previous years with Target, including Prabal Gurung, Missoni, Rodarte, & Jason Wu.

I’ve included a thorough gallery of all the pieces from the chic collection, ranging in price from $14.99 – $89.99, including apparel & accessories that will mesh perfectly with current wardrobe staples. Check out each look which will hit stores on April 14th! Can’t wait!

Which looks are your favorites? Do you shop the designer collections at Target? Do you think the prices for the mainstream lines are comparable to lesser-known brands? Runway Rundown: Alexander McQueen’s Fall 2013 Ready-To-Wear Collection!

The House of Alexander McQueen is known for its over-the-top decadence & high fashion luxury. Of course, we’ve all seen the brand’s gorgeous designs on the red carpet, including Amanda Seyfried, Salma Hayek, Nicole Kidman, Mila Kunis, Cate Blanchett, & countless others which have stunned critics & celebrated the vision of the late designer. It was announced that a pregnant Sarah Burton, creative director of Alexander McQueen, would not be showing a collection during fashion week; however, this limited 10-piece Fall 2013 Ready-To-Wear Collection is beyond any runway presentation seen at Paris Fashion Week. Check out the video below & click through the gallery above to see each feat of fashion in motion.

Clearly, no detail was overlooked & while these pieces aren’t necessarily street-ready or red carpet-friendly for the average movie premiere, the collection honors the brand’s legacy with ornate beading & studding, lush lace-over-lace, exaggerated peplums, jeweled masks, metallic crown-inspired corsets, & a no-sparkle-left-behind philosophy. In Style spoke with the label which shared that the “hyperworked embellishment” details take a cue “from communion gowns to cardinals’ robes, the high church, nuns, popes, angels.” What better timing than now for such an homage when the Christian community is buzzing about who will be the next pope!

Of course I don’t see very many occasions for these pieces in my everyday life, but as an informed Style Darling, I can definitely appreciate the artistry & craftsmanship, especially having had the privilege to view pieces from this historial brand at the Metropolitan Museum of Art back in 2011. For more an up close & personal look at these pieces, check out a detail-focused gallery on Elle & share with us what you think of this collection. Happy Styling!
