Watch out Aniston, Lopez, & Garner- there’s a new Jennifer on the block! It’s true, the world is talking about last year’s Academy Award nominee for Winter’s Bone, Jennifer Lawrence.  Her upcoming action thriller, The Hunger Games, is expected to break big box office records and make the young actress a household name.  She’s been on the style radar for quie some time & I’m happy to share with readers a gallery of some of her best looks since her debut in the spotlight last year.

She’s a big fan of designers Prabal Gurung and Calvin Klein, but with long gams like hers & beautiful long, blonde locks, it’s no wonder she’s currently topping “best dressed” lists all over the world! Take a look at the gallery & let us know which looks are your favorites! Surely, this won’t be the last that we see of the Kentucky-native, so check out more from Red Carpet Review! Happy Styling!

The red carpet at last night’s Oscar ceremony did not disappoint, although some movie goers are in disbelief over this year’s lead acting winners.  Needless to say, everyone was all smiles on the red carpet, celebrating another fine year in cinema, wearing nothing but the best designers.  Some of my favorites of the night included Milla Jovovich, Emma Stone, Gwyneth Paltrow, & Elie Kemper.  Who do you think looked the best?  Was Angelina’s leg too much? Did Jennifer Lopez show off enough of her assets? How do you feel about all the embellished designs?  Click through the gallery below & share with us your favorite looks of the very glamorous night!

For more on Oscar’s red carpet night, check out last year’s red carpet, Anne Hathaway’s multiple costume changes as last year’s host, & my all-time Top 10 Favorite Oscar looks (although some of this year’s looks may have to join an updated list!). Happy Styling!

Tonight’s red carpet arrivals are happening right now for the 54th Grammy awards, but I thought that while that was underway, I’d post a little gallery featuring some of my favorite looks from ceremonies past.  Of course these images come from In Style, but I was so inspired & wanted to share them with my Style Darlings.  The list includes red carpet regulars like Taylor Swift, Gwen Stefani, & Fergie, among others! Whose look do you like the best? Who are you looking forward to seeing this year? Happy Styling!

Red Carpet Review: Heidi Klum, Drew Barrymore, & Zooey Deschanel In Glitters, Sparkle, Pastel, Details, Pink, & Pretty at the 2011 Emmy’s (Part Three)!

When it came to glitz, & glamour, the stars were on hand at this year’s Emmy Awards.  There were no details left behind during the red carpet festivities & we learned that the ladies love some sparkle & pastel hues.  In a hodge-podge of images below, we see some of our favorites succeed with their luxury looks & some give it an honorable try.

Jennifer Carpenter wore this blush beaded Tony Ward Couture gown with Martin Katz jewelry.  Cat Deeley went for some super glamour in this gold beaded Monique Lhuillier gown with Bulgari diamonds & a metallic clutch to complete the look.  Taraji P. Henson could’ve used a little help in this embellished Blumarine column gown, although her Fred Leighton drop earrings & cocktail ring helped the look.  Maria Bello glowed in the one-shoulder Kaufmanfranco column gown with a satin clutch & Martin Katz cocktail ring.  Christina Hendricks never shies away from showing off her best assets & this Johanna Johnson gown hugs her curves in all the right ways.  I could’ve done without the slit in the front, but she still looks like a million bucks.  Drew Barrymore took the stage with the new cast of ABC’s Charlie’s Angels in a Givenchy couture gown with Jimmy Choo platforms & gems by Van Cleef & Arpels.

Mad Men star Elisabeth Moss was stunning in this encrusted illusion gown by MarchesaPadma Lakshmi looked golden in this Armani Prive gown with Jimmy Choo sandals & her own jewelry.  Jane Krakowski looked a little over-tanned in this white deep-v gown with a jewel embellishment, but for a lady who recently had a baby, her body looks fantastic.  Kudos to her for showing it off!  The Good Wife star Julianna Margulies puzzled critics in this Armani Prive lampshade-corset white gown with peculiar embellishments.  Heidi Klum supported Project Runway winner Christian Siriano in a custom-made greige (gray / beige) ruffled cocktail dress with colorful jewelry by Lorraine Schwartz & extra high Christian Louboutin heels.  Charlie’s Angels star (& former Grey’s Anatomy doctor) Rachael Taylor made her Emmy’s debut in a memorable way with this iridescent beaded Giorgio Armani column gown with diamonds by Neil Lane.

The stars were also pretty in pink, for example, Modern Family‘s Ariel Winter showed that she’s all grown up in this powdered pink botanical-themed halter dress with diamond flower studs & matching ring by Jamie WolfJayma Mays channeled her inner ballerina in this tiered Zuhair Murad gown with a Swarovski clutch, Brian Atwood shoes, & Neil Lane jewelry & brooch.  Rashida Jones looked ladylike in a pink Alberta Ferretti strapless number with bangles by Van Cleef & Arpels.  Footloose star & former Dancing with the Stars champ Julianne Hough took a risk in this multi-tonal Carolina Herrera gown with jewelry by ForevermarkZooey Deschanel disappointed in this bubble gum pink Monique Lhuillier gown with a red sash. Even though she’s so pretty & stylish, the whole look seemed like a costume.  Anyone agree?

I wanted to feature Raising Hope‘s Martha Plimton in my red-theme Emmy post, but was unable to find an adequate image at the time, so here is she is, looking beyond gorgeous in a curve-hugging sparkly Zac Posen dress.  Elizabeth McGovern wore a merlot-hued sweetheart dress, but I wish that the clutch didn’t blend in so much- something gold would’ve been especially gorgeous against the rich hue.  Hostess of the night, Jane Lynch, turned heads in a strapless David Meister gown with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.  Sarah Hyland also collaborated with Christian Siriano with Grecian-inspired coral belted dress & Lorraince Schwartz jewelry.  Julia Stiles has never looked better on a red carpet wearing this lavender Georges Hobeika gown with a clutch by Kotur.

We’ve seen dozens of looks from the stars in red, black, blue, & now the paler, sparkly hues… Have you picked your favorite?  Do you think Taraji P. Henson & Zooey Deschanel could do better?  What would you have liked to see them wear on the red carpet?  Happy Styling!

Red Carpet Review / Color Me Style: A Brilliant Black & Blue Takeover at the Emmy’s Featuring Gwyneth Paltrow, Claire Danes, Dianna Agron, & More (Part Two)!

I previously stated that red was the color of the night for the 2011 Emmy Awards, but red was given some serious competition with the ladies wearing different shades of blue & varying styles of exquisite black gowns!  There’s just so much to talk about with these looks, proving that even the most classic or daring silhouettes can rival on the red carpet!

Although they say that black doesn’t photograph well… These Style Darlings prove otherwise! First, Michelle Forbes, star of The Killing definitely killed in a black Romona Keveza strapless gown with a fitted bodice.  Winner Julie Bowen took a plunge in a black metallic sequin-embellished column dress by Oscar de la Renta.  She’s never looked better, especially with those stunning Neil Lane earrings!  Kaley Cuoco’s retro polka Romona Keveza dress was by far my favorite black dress, especially with the polka dot netting & red satin peep toes & Judith Leiber clutch.  Fringe star Anna Torv went for a classic old Hollywood look in a black Vera Wang gown with Lorraine Schwartz earrings & navy Roger Vivier shoes.  Boardwalk Empire star Gretchen Mol kept its simple & elegant in a sweetheart L’Wren Scott silk gown with emerald Fred Leighton jewelry.  Glee bad girl, Naya Rivera showed off her figure in a sculpted black dress with corset bodice.

Gwyneth Paltrow caused quite a stir in her two-piece Emilio Pucci beaded gown with Roger Vivier sandals & Neil Lane jewelry.  Evan Rachel Wood looked simply gorgeous in a beaded Elie Saab gown.  She was nominated for her outstanding performance in Mildred Pierce, but turned heads with her Fred Leighton jewelry, Salvatore Ferragamo shoes, & Judith Leiber clutch.  Jenna Ushkowitz went for a black & white Ghadah Paris gown with Casadei shoes & obviously got the memo about carrying a Judith Leiber clutch.  Lena Headey covered up in a black brocade long-sleeved gown with a belt, Brian Atwood heels & a Judith Leiber clutch.  Kelly Macdonald tastefully showed off some skin in a sheer Stella McCartney gown with Jimmy Choo sandals.

As for the ladies in blue, navy was the most popular shade, but turquoise & royal were also embraced.  Kyle Richards wore a pleated royal blue mermaid gown with drop earrings, a cocktail ring, & caged diamond bracelet.  Cobie Smulders of How I Met Your Mother was bright in an aquamarine Alberta Ferretti gown with Neil Lane drop earrings, Brian Atwood shoes, & a clutch by Rene Caovilla.  Last year’s winner, Claire Danes, went for stuck to her favorite column silhouette in a sequin-embroidered Oscar de la Renta gown with Irit jewelry & pumps by Barbara Bui platforms.  Dianna Agron took a risk in this Roksanda Ilincic fishtail gown, but looked stunning with her Fred Leighton jewelry & clutch by Roger Vivier.  Funny lady Amy Poehler channeled this year’s Oscar look worn by Amy Adams in the short-sleeved all-over blue gown by Peter Som with drop earrings by Martin Katz.

Charlie’s Angels star Minka Kelly donned a vintage-inspired navy & black lace Christian Dior gown with Tiffany & Co. jewelry & Barbara Bui sandals.  The X-Factor judge Paula Adbul looked adorable in a navy embellished Simeen gown with Martin Katz jewelry.  Nominee Diane Lane looked fantastic in a navy Monique Lhuillier crystal-encrusted gown with Cathy Waterman jewelry.  Glee girl, Heather Morris wasn’t afraid of this tiered plunging gown with gold dangly earrings.  Emily Blunt showed the best in blue in a deep-v Elie Saab creation with a Kelly Locke clutch & Brian Atwood sandals.  One star that could’ve done better was Katie Holmes in this crepe Calvin Klein Collection belted dress.

Be sure to check back for my Emmy red carpet coverage & our post about the fabulous red gowns worn by celebrities like Sofia Vergara, Lea Michele, & Kate Winslet!  Who was your favorite of the night?  Who do you think his all the wrong notes?  Which dress do you covet? Happy Styling!

Color Me Style / Red Carpet Review: Ravishing Red for Kate Winslet, Nina Dobrev, & More at the 2011 Emmy’s (Part One)!

At this week’s 63rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, RED was the color to wear on the red carpet!  Sometimes red is a tricky color to wear b/c you could blend in, but none of these ladies went unnoticed!  I don’t think I’ve ever seen red look so good, especially on these stars who play with shades of apple, crimson, scarlet, & cherry!

Adrianne Palicki went for a vintage starlet feel in a sweetheart halter gown with a high slit, keeping her hair simple with elegant diamonds.  Connie Britton showed that you don’t have to be twenty years old to look exquisite on the red carpet, in a flowing chiffon gown with drop earrings & bangles.  Lea Michele revealed to E! that she wanted to keep her look simple, but this Marchesa column gown is super chic & flattering on the petite actress with a big voice.  Her straightened hair is the perfect finishing touch to such a glamorous & effortless look.  Kerry Washington presented in a strapless Zuhair Murad gown with a matching clutch & pair of heels by the one & only, Jimmy Choo.

Nina Dobrev made a splash in this red Donna Karan gown with accented diamonds by Neil Lane, a Judith Leiber clutch, & Brian Atwood stilettos.  Sofia Vergara was one of the most talked about nominees & definitely wowed in a scarlet Vera Wang curve-hugging gown with Colombian emerald chandelier earrings.  And last, but not least, Kate Winslet, my favorite nominee of the night, looked polished in a red form-fitting Elie Saab gown with a soft updo & diamond drop earrings.

Check out our previous Red Carpet Review posts, as well as the fun color-themed posts in Color Me Style!  Who wore red the best? Who was your favorite winner of the night?  Be sure to check back this week while I post more & more about Sunday night’s ceremony! Happy Styling!

Red Carpet Review: The 2011 Teen Choice Awards Go Glam!

At this weekend’s Teen Choice Awards, young Hollywood came out in full force style! Some of these ladies in line are going to be the next Gwyneth Paltrows, Julianne Moores, & Kate Hudsons of the red carpet.  This is evident in their choice of styling, but let’s get down to who’s wearing who!  First up is Twlight star Ashley Greene who sticks to the pencil dress trend in a color-blocked design by GivenchyZoe Saldana goes metallic in a belted Lanvin frock with shoes by the late great Alexander McQueenThe Vampire Diaires leading lady, Nina Dobrev, was probably my favorite in this figure flattering D&G dress with a Salvatore Ferragamo clutch.  Canadian singer Avril Lavigne does some shameless advertising for her brand, Abbey Dawn in a chic LBD & patterned peep toes.  However, it is a nice chang eof pace for the usual punky blonde.  The svelte star of CW’s NikitaMaggie Q, went all white in a two-piece Max Mara look with black & white pumps- very Mad Men looking, eh?

Next, Lucy Hale took a risk in this sparkling Cengiz Abazoğlu mini dress with Giuseppe Zanotti ankle strap platforms.  It-girl of the moment, Emma Stone, juggled her press tour for The Help, by showing up to the ceremony in a Christian Dior shift dress with jewelry by Irene Neuwirth.  Current In Style Makeover cover girl, Rachel Bilson, looked ultra-femme in a ruffled Chloe dress with Brian Atwood studded ankle booties.  Country crooner, Taylor Swift, channelled Marilyn Monroe in a Rafael Cennamo LWD halter & of course, donned Neil Lane diamonds & bowed silver peep toe pumps.  Last, but not least is Selena Gomez, looking all grown up in an asymmetrical Erin Fetherston minidress & strappy Brian Atwood sandals.

Which is your favorite look?  Who’s your favorite young Style Darling?  Are you loving the little white dress trend?  What’s your favorite black & white look?  For more scoop on red carpet glam, check out Red Carpet Review!  Happy Styling!

Red Carpet Review: My Favorite Past Oscar Styles!

It’s Oscar night & I’m dying over darlings like Amy Adams, Scarlett Johansson, Halle Berry, & Reese Witherspoon‘s dresses on the red carpet.  Keeping it classic & timeless, effortlessly glamorous, & oh-so gorgeous is what a night like this is all about.  I decided to take a quick look back at my top ten favorite looks from previous years at the Academy Awards.  Among my favorites are designers Oscar de la Renta, Versace, Valentino, & Carolina Herrera.  I have a thing for some glitter, but also frills & clean lines are always amazing trends to show off at an elegant occasion such as this.  Take a look (at these, of course which are in no particular order) & lemme know which are your favorites?

Last year Cameron Diaz wowed in this gold princess gown by Oscar de la Renta.  She usually goes a little more eccentric, having worn a red Alexander McQueen gown for the Globes just weeks before, but thanks to her famous stylist, Rachel Zoe, this dazzling gold confection of elegance stole the red carpet.  Gold was a big theme at the show as winner Sandra Bullock showed off her embroidered Marchesa column gown.

Kate Hudson showed off some serious sparkle power at the 2003 ceremony in this Atelier Versace hand-sewn gown.  This look is listed among In Style’s 10 Best Oscar Dresses ever & is probably one of my favorite worn by the actress. She is also a client of Rachel Zoe’s, who has taken more risks in recent years on the red carpet, like for last years Globes in a white feathered Marchesa & her teal Gucci number at the 2009 People’s Choice Awards.

Keeping with the glamorous glitter theme so far, Diane Lane appeared at the 2003 ceremony in Oscar de la Renta.  Having seen the feathers for tonight’s show with Hilary Swank & Sharon Stone, I have to say that the gown is one that transcends time.  At the 2009 ceremony in ruched black Chanel & her white Azzaro gown at the 2004 show were just as gorgeous in the truest movie star fashion.

Renee Zellweger‘s Carolina Herrera gown for her 2004 win for her performance in Cold Mountain is one of those dresses that you just look at & know that a winner is wearing it.  Recalling the vintage elegance of Grace Kelly & the star power of Marilyn Monroe, this is one of Renee’s finest appearances in fashion.  Always a fan of Carolina Herrera’s designs, 7 years later, the actress even wowed in this sparkly gown for a German awards show.

Cate Blanchett‘s 2007 Armani Prive marcasite gown was a dramatic revelation against the usually ruffled & mainstream looks that we see on the red carpet.  Always a risk taker, we even saw her on tonight’s red carpet in a pastel beaded Givenchy gown that even wowed fashion icon & Oscar commentator Tim Gunn.

Keira Knightley was nominated in 2006 for her lead role in Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice & showed up in this merlot Vera Wang gown & Bulgari necklace.  She was certainly the best dressed of the night & took the trend of statement jewelry to a new level.

Kate Winslet is a consummate favorite at the Oscars, having won two years ago for The Reader, I have to say that nothing pleases me more than seeing a pistachio dress draped in such a sophisticated way over a truly beautiful talent.  This Valentino dress helped make the 2007 ceremony a memorable night, as I recalled the sari-inspired Valentino dress that Jennifer Lopez wore in a similar shade in 2003.

Penelope Cruz showed up this year’s Oscars just weeks after giving birth, but when she took home Oscar for her performance in Vicky Cristina Barcelona, she looked like a modern-day Audrey Hepburn.  This vintage Balmain bridal-inspired gown pulled at every fashionista’s heartstrings.  She looked like an absolute princess that night & this is probably one of my favorite Oscar looks ever.  In previous years, she was very elegant in Versace and forward thinking in Chanel, but for this pivotal moment in her career, she looked flawless.

2009 was also a dazzling year for Sarah Jessica Parker in this belted princess Christian Dior.  Embodying all things Carrie Bradshaw & the whimsical way that Sarah Jessica has stolen our fashionable hearts off-screen, this is one of the most quintessential princess gowns that I’ve ever seen.  Critics didn’t embrace her 2010 look for the ceremony, but she’ll always be turning heads no matter where she goes.

Demi Moore impressed fashion critics last year in her strapless silk organza ruffled gown by Versace.  Rachel Zoe was once again behind this look, which was a far cry from Demi’s 1989 shorts look that made In Style’s Most Unforgettable Oscar Looks.  Seeing this dramatic actress in such softness put her among the best dressed & was a lovely departure from her usually darker looks.

Red Carpet Review: 2011 Grammy’s Red Carpet Arrivals!

Yes, the Grammy Awards were last week & since then it has been quite the crazy one, so I’m just now getting to blog about it. Is it really worth blogging about when Lady Gaga‘s entrance in an egg was without some serious fashion history-in-the-making.  I do have to say that my favorite of the night was Jennifer Lopez, although she could’ve used about one and half more inches on her hemline b/c I was afraid of catching a glimpse of something that I didn’t wanna see.  While the night was filled with glamour, eccentricity, & class, let’s take a first look at the ladies of the night who were decked out in sparkles.

While it seems that Kim Kardashian took a page from Jennifer Lopez‘s handbook of red carpet style once again (paying homage to the velvet Marchesa at the 2009 Golden Globes), she might’ve looked out of place, but still more glamorous than Snooki, who I purposefully choose to leave out of this review.

Next we have the ladies from Glee who were celebrating their nomination for the show’s soundtrack.  My favorite among these is Dianna Agron, but I give Jenna Ushkowitz a strong shout out for improving slowly, but surely in each red carpet appearance. Considering Lea Michele‘s look for last year’s ceremony, I was a little disappoint & I think it’s time that she put her cleavage away- we get it.

Some of the prettiest looks of the night were the ones the most ladylike & dazzling. While a pregnant Jewel made her best red carpet appearance EVER, I was a big fan, as always, of Eva Longoria.  You might wonder why she was in attendance, but what’s a red carpet appearance without her? Jordin Sparks looked age-appropriate, and Keri Hilson knocked last year’s D&G look out of the park!

The ladies who embraced patterns & went for colors, ruffles, cut-outs, and trains.  It’s clear that Nicole Kidman is a stand-out during this awards season, while she’s attending the ceremony to support her husband, country singer Keith Urban.  If Ciara’s shoes were a bit simpler (like something with a thin strap like Jennifer Aniston wears), then I would totally love her entire look.

This year’s breakout stars included Florence Welch, of Florence & the Machine, Nicki Minaj, Esperanza Spalding, & Janelle Monae.  They all reached for something individual, channeling animal prints, ruffles, & Janelle showed off her famous menswear glam.

Rihanna took on an elegant peek-a-boo look, while Kelly Osbourne (my favorite reason for watching E!’s Fashion Police) continues to surprise fashoinistas with another uber-feminine / delicate look.

With a quick look at last year’s Grammy Awards, we see how nicely the glam factor has risen, but the stars of the night continue to shine on every year.  Now that stars like Rihanna & Jennifer Hudson have entered the picture, we can hope that every year gets more & more fabulous.  For more details behind the evening’s red carpet looks, check out In Style for their best beauty picks & a timeline of transformations by Grammy favorites!  For a complete list of winners for the night, check out the Grammy website.  Happy Styling!

1/22/11 Darling of the Day: Natalie Portman at the Golden Globes!

At this year’s Golden Globes ceremony, Natalie Portman was the talk of the town as a favorite.  Her performance in Black Swan has earned her some serious Oscar buzz & her red carpet styles while promoting the film have offered up some glamorous fashoin cred.  After recently announcing her engagement & pregnancy, everyone in the world wanted a picture of the actress showing off her baby bump.  Here in a sweetly youthful, yet classic pink Viktor & Rolf strapless dress, a single red rose detail is carefully placed at the bustline.  Natalie glows like a joyful & elegant mother-to-be.  She’s decked out in a delicate string necklace & stud earrings, sporting a red Dior cluth, & hot red platform sandals.

For more on Natalie’s effortless & always perfect style, check out Harper’s Bazaar & Marie Claire.  Keep an eye on for more red carpet fashions as we get closer & closer to the Oscars!  Happy Styling!
