Target’s A New Day brand has done it again! They’re on the pulse of spring-summer with flattering, inclusive must-haves that make me want to book a vacation now & purchase a whole new wardrobe for it. When it comes to the warmer seasons & feminine frocks, you just can’t go wrong with eyelet!
My only wish is that these had thicker straps so that I wouldn’t have to rely on a strapless bra, even if you’re meant to go bra-less with it. Curvier girls need support!
As spring is just around the corner–hopefully–spring is definitely hitting stores & I can’t wait for lighter layers, bright hues, & dangly earrings, which is pretty much my warm weather wardrobe! The must-have staple for spring is an eyelet dress, which can be dressed up down, depending on where you’re headed. One classic cut dress with a flattering scallop detail at the sleeves & hem can be found by Time & Tru at Walmart:
Aren’t these colors gorgeous?! Of course, I do wish for a magenta or bright purple too, but I’m pleased that this selection is offered in such a wide range of sizes as it is flattering, feminine, & stylish for every body type. I’d love to add a belt, denim jacket, & wedges before heading out the door for a sunny day in the village, joining the family for some festivities, or to work with a cardigan!
Also, with great dresses comes great accessories from Time & Tru:
With over two months left of summer, you’d think that stores would be fully stocked with the latest designs & styles for any shopper still looking to update their wardrobe for the season or investing in a fresh vacation wardrobe… but now that 4th of July has passed, retailers are clearing out merchandise to make room for incoming fall fashion. This means that it’s time to check those clearance racks for special finds that are perfect for the still-thriving summer season, but also to store for next spring’s rotation.
New York & Company is probably one of my favorite places to buy work & weekend clothing, but now that there are no longer any stores to peruse through, making online purchases that are final sale should be done carefully. When buying anything online, a shopper should always read the reviews & the product details, like garment material & care, along with checking a size chart for limited size availability, but for items that cannot be returned, taking the time to do this, especially for a dress that looks good enough to add-to-cart, is crucial. As New York & Company’s website is promoting their latest Into the Wild summer collection, most, if not all, short, midi, & maxi dresses from earlier in the season are reduced to $7.99, including the following bold & stylish short frock redlines:
If you’re a bargain shopper, like me, don’t forget to also check out New York & Company’s other redlines, including tops for $7.99, sweaters for $4.99, jeans for $7.99, shorts for $7.99, skirts for $7.99, pants for $7.99, outerwear for $7.99, & shoes for $7.99 to stock up on can’t-miss deals!
Little white dresses are a go-to for this spring & summer, which make for a fresh take for a date, as well as night out with the girls. Of course, white at a wedding is for the bride only, but some of the most photographed celebrities have been spotted in figure-flattering silhouettes of LWDs! This includes actress / model Rosie Huntington-Whitely at the Cannes Film Festival in a strapless silk bustier dress by Christian Dior with Christian Louboutin stilettos & Kerry Washington‘s Giambattista Valli frock at a screening of Scandal with a gold-accented wristlet. Also, Bond-girl Gemma Arterton is all smiles while visiting BBC Radio One in a Talbot Runhof dress with classic black pointy toe pumps & a colorblocked handbag.
Next, Jennifer Lopez shows off her shape in a curve-hugging Louise Goldin pencil dress with matching Casadei pumps at a press event for Verizon Wireless. Everyone’s talking about Angelina Jolie‘s return to the red carpet in a gold-belted Ralph & Russo peplum dress with feminine rose gold jewelry & white pointy toe pumps. Lastly, Les Miserables breakout star Samantha Barks contrasts her white lace sheath dress with a strategic black belt & adorable fuchsia heels at a Royal Academy of Arts event.
Personally, I think you can get away with wearing a white dress any time of the year, depending on the material & cut of the dress. For example, something in eyelet or linen is strictly for the warmer months with metallic sandals or peep toe pumps & a tweed fabric would work best in the winter with suede ankle booties.
My first pick is the embroidered sundress ($50.00) from Dress Barn, which not only cinches in at the waist, but also will work with any pop of color in a cardigan, boyfriend blazer, ballet flats, or espadrilles. If you like to show off your arms, check out the sleeveless ecru ponte dress ($39.99) which is currently marked down from its original $150.00 price @White House Black Market. For a sleek look, the eyelet sheath dress with patent belt ($35.00) from New York & Company offers up a variety of looks, especially with a sophisticated built-in accessory that can match with other staples like a printed shrug sweater or opaque tights.
The midi strapless dress ($36.50) from Lulu’s is definitely sexier is matched with a blinged out necklace & stacked bangles, while the cut-out makes for a flirty show of skin. For my plus-size Style Darlings, I picked out the mesh back chiffon dress ($24.80) from Forever 21‘s Plus 21 line, which creates a classic hourglass figure for day & evening, & is sold in sizes XL – 3X. My final selection includes the detailed dress ($17.95) from H&M, which is also available in black, & will certainly turn heads when you walk in the room.
I’ve been a busy girl lately, especially having just started a new position at work & getting a second part-time job to save up some extra money. However, returning to retail has its disadvantages, including a very tempting employee discount. I have some summer plans coming up, so I knew that I’d have my eye on classic dresses that I’d be able to wear while in the Hamptons & it just so happened that while at Dress Barn, I found some must-have spring items that needed to be in my wardrobe!
This includes the ruched waist floral dress ($40.00) in yellow & eyelet sundress ($46.00) in white. Both are perfectly my style & can be mixed with a variety of accessories like strappy black platforms, white ballet flats, & metallic sandals, or an embellished cardigan, three-quarter sleeve blazer, & or cropped sweater.
The lace back bolero ($29.00) in black was an easy choice, especially b/c of the feminine detail across the back. It’s also available in white & yellow, but I knew I’d get a lot more use out of the black shrug even over a long-sleeve top in the cooler months. Finally, the metallic toe ballet flats ($25.00) in gold were right on trend with other cap toe footwear that I’ve been eyeing, along with the metallic trim which is will coordinate well for any outfit this season.
